Station square
The station square is an integral part of China train stations, serving as the first point of contact for passengers arriving at or departing from the station. This square is the main entrance to facilitate smooth transitions between buses, metro, taxis and the train station.
Entrance and security check
The primary entry point for passengers often marked with large signs and located in front of the station. All passengers must pass through security screening, which includes X-ray machines for baggage and metal detectors for personal items.
Waiting and ticketing area
Staffed counters where passengers can buy, change, or refund tickets. Or there are automatic ticket machine for ticket redeeming.

Basically, all the essentials are covered. The service is excellent. The rooms aren't brand new, but they are well-maintained. There's a small but charming garden filled with various fruits and vegetables that were bearing heavily during my stay. A true five-star hotel. Although it's an older property, the rooms and facilities are kept in pristine condition, looking as good as new. I had imagined that an older hotel would have dated amenities, but this hotel completely exceeded my expectations. I stayed in a spacious and very comfortable room in Tower A. What impressed me most was the front desk service. Because we arrived quite early, I had contacted the hotel via Ctrip to ask about early check-in. Upon arrival, the front desk staff immediately processed our check-in, allowing us to get into our room early and rest, saving us from wandering around while waiting for a room to become available. The Jun Ting Chinese restaurant on the second floor is truly excellent. The prices are reasonable, the dishes are delicious, and it has a very classy feel. Guests even receive a complimentary bowl of soup daily. We ended up eating there almost every day. The hotel breakfast is also good with a wide variety of options, and the taste is decent. It seemed to cater to a lot of conference attendees. Unfortunately, the hotel garden was undergoing renovation, so I couldn't enjoy it. The hotel's location is superb, situated between Zhengyi Road and Taijichang Street. It's within a 30-minute walk to Chang'an Avenue, Wangfujing, Qianmen, and Chongwenmen. Both the subway and bus stations are nearby. There are also restaurants like Songhelou, dumpling shops, and snack stalls in the vicinity. This stay at the Sofitel Jian Guo Men left me with a great overall impression.
Before arriving, I communicated with the duty manager, Eli, letting him know it was our first stay and that it coincided with our anniversary. Upon check-in, he immediately upgraded us to an Executive Floor room and had it specially decorated. The attention to detail was exceptional, and we were incredibly impressed from the moment we arrived.
The first impression upon entering was excellent. The lobby had incredibly high ceilings and a grand, bright decor, completely avoiding the oppressive feeling you sometimes get in older hotels.
The layout of the Executive Room was also quite interesting; it wasn't just a generic square box. The space was well-utilized, making it feel much more spacious than I had imagined.
The service overall was hassle-free. Whether it was dealing with the front desk or requesting room service, any issues were addressed very quickly, with no need for back-and-forth.
In the evening, I specifically went to the bar on the basement level. The bartender, Pamper, was very amiable. She asked about my preferred tastes, and the cocktails she made were perfectly to my liking.

Before booking, I read the negative reviews, which were mostly complaints about the service. After staying, I felt like this hotel was one giant obedience test.
Upon entering the room, I noticed a strong smell from the air conditioning ducts. I picked up the phone and dialed 'one touch.' The operator transferred me to the front desk, who said they would get back to me shortly. 'Shortly' meant I had to call again to get any kind of answer.
After changing rooms, the next day my room card stopped working. That's when I understood why there was a phone in the hallway. After calling, they said an auntie would come to help open the door. Ten minutes later, the auntie finally arrived. After opening the door, she said a concierge would bring a new room card later. Well, it never arrived within two hours. Eventually, when I went to pick up my takeout, I had to go to the front desk myself to get a new one.
The tissues in the room ran out. The auntie replaced them with new ones, but just left the new pack on top of the tissue box instead of putting them inside. I don't understand that.
There was a short black hair in the bathtub...
The mini-bar was completely empty on the first night, possibly due to the room change.
At breakfast, I opened a Chinese steamed dim sum, and there was a black hair inside... Breakfast ended at 10:30 AM, and many guests came at 10:35 AM to get coffee, but it was all gone...FromDKK 803

The last picture shows the very bad gym staff member who was playing on his phone in the changing room, a place where people are naked and where there are signs prohibiting phone use. When I tried to get his attention, he ignored me. This person also ignored guests at the front desk when checking in and out, not even greeting them. When I returned my wristband, he just kept his head down doing his own thing. It was a lady next to him who, seeing his lack of response, rather awkwardly took the wristband from me. Regular training should resolve this issue. Otherwise, it's a hotel with great value for money. The front desk staff was fantastic, patiently explaining various issues and even upgraded my room. The location is a definite highlight – incredibly convenient for getting around. It's just a short walk to Metro Line 1 and Line 5, making transportation effortless. Step out of the hotel and turn left, and you'll find a shopping mall within 50 meters, offering a vast array of shopping and dining options that almost lead to decision paralysis, but certainly satisfy all your retail and food cravings.
The room itself was a wonderful surprise. It was incredibly spacious, bright, and filled with natural light. The floor-to-ceiling window offered an amazing view, making lounging and enjoying the scenery an absolute delight. The amenities were comprehensive, and the pillows and mattress were incredibly comfortable – I slept like a baby and woke up feeling completely refreshed.

The location is excellent, right next to Wangfujing, making travel very convenient. As for facilities, the building is a bit old, but well-maintained. However, on the first night, it rained, and I heard water dripping while lying in bed in the middle of the night. The next morning, I saw a lot of standing water on the windowsill. Additionally, the shower often leaks when in use. Regarding service, the staff proactively greeted guests and offered a mail-back service for forgotten items. However, there was an unpleasant experience during checkout. When checking in, I had added executive lounge access for the first day only. But at checkout, the system showed it was added for four days. I explained the situation to the cashier, and even the booking confirmation clearly stated it was only for the first day. Yet, they still had to meticulously re-verify, calling the restaurant and executive lounge to confirm, as if they suspected the customer was trying to cheat. I had to wait a long time; were they going to check video recordings? Service: All our requests were met. We joined the hotel's club membership and received three drink vouchers. We also ordered the highly-rated chocolate cake, which was delicious! The complimentary welcome fruit plate was also nice. Oh, and they even gave our little one a teddy bear 🐻 doll, which was a lovely touch 😘
Breakfast: It's 220 per person if booked in advance, or 288 for last-minute bookings. It's simply delicious 😋. Special shout-out to the omelet chef, who had a great attitude and made perfect runny egg rolls that I loved. The chef frying bacon was a bit aloof, though! Haha, not in a bad way. The wontons were also good, but there was too much to try.
Bathtub 🛁: My child played in the water for two days. It would have been even better if there were bath bombs or a rubber ducky.

For our Mid-Autumn Festival staycation with our 7-month-old baby, we chose the jungle-themed family room at the Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa Center. Before check-in, our butler, Ms. Silvia, contacted us in advance to arrange a bed rail and connecting beds, and also pre-booked afternoon tea for us. The room was full of childlike charm, and our baby was incredibly curious and captivated by everything. The hotel's lawn was also perfect for playing. The room was clean and hygienic, with a great view, directly overlooking the Liangma River. The staff were enthusiastic, interacting warmly with our baby, and even left small mooncakes during turn-down service. The breakfast, delicatessen, and Paulaner Bräuhaus all offered good quality food. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay!

My family and I chose Jen Hotel for a quick getaway during the November holiday. This is one of the most value-for-money hotels I've ever stayed in. This time, I booked a room with executive lounge access, which included breakfast, in-room breakfast delivery, and a two-person dinner at Sanwu Tang in the evening.
We had a smooth check-in around 5 PM. The front desk staff asked us which direction we preferred for our room, and we chose one facing the 'Big Trousers' building (CCTV Headquarters). During check-in, the front desk also helped us book a dinner reservation at Sanwu Tang. After dropping off our luggage, we headed straight for dinner.
Sanwu Tang is a buffet restaurant specializing in Beijing cuisine, offering a complete selection of local delicacies like 'baodu' (tripe), 'luzhu' (stewed offal), 'chaogan' (stir-fried liver), 'douzhi' (fermented mung bean juice), 'zhajiangmian' (fried sauce noodles), and roast duck. Of course, they also have international dishes like beef, lamb chops, and salmon sashimi. If you're a first-time visitor to Beijing and don't want to wander around the streets, you can try all these dishes in one place. Wang Yajuan, a server at the restaurant, thoughtfully explained the food stations and brought us the exclusive drinks menu for executive lounge guests, which we greatly appreciated. (Regular paying guests also have drinks, but the variety is much smaller than for executive lounge guests). This drink menu included four types of craft beer and Evian sparkling water, which instantly made the value for money skyrocket. Plus, the restaurant was filled with Beijing cultural elements, making for a very comfortable atmosphere.
The breakfast on the second day was also in the style of Beijing snacks, which I loved, so I won't go into detail.
By the way, the online reviews for Sanwu Tang aren't very high, but I think those low-score reviews are unfair. Because Sanwu Tang's main focus is Beijing flavors, both the style and the food are authentic Beijing local dishes. Objectively speaking, some dishes might not be well-received by non-locals, leading to low scores. But if you like these flavors, trust me, go for it with your eyes closed – you definitely won't be disappointed.
I also want to mention the gym; it's the largest I've seen in any hotel I've stayed at, with the widest variety of equipment. No luxury hotel in China can compare. The staff also maintained the high service standards of a premium hotel.
In summary, this is a hotel with exceptional value for money. It's located in Beijing's Guomao area, and both the service and hardware facilities are outstanding. Highly recommended! 👍FromDKK 1,199

Location: The hotel is in Chaoyang District, and since most of the places I wanted to visit in Beijing this time were nearby, it was quite convenient to get around.
Room Facilities: Although the hotel has been around for many years, it's an artistic hotel, and the more time passes, the more character it develops. Just like the artwork on the front desk's background wall says, 'The Rose of Time,' it made me think of Bei Dao's poem: 'When the brush draws the horizon, you are awakened by the gong of the East, and blooming in the echo is the rose of time…'
Breakfast: Breakfast is served on the first floor at LIQA, a Turkish restaurant. I'm not sure if it's the same team that handles breakfast and regular meal times, but the main courses, desserts, and drinks for breakfast were all excellent 👍.
Parking: To get from the parking lot to the guest rooms, you need to go to the first floor and then transfer to another elevator. There are plenty of parking spaces. Just remember to register your license plate number at the front desk; I paid almost 200 yuan the first day because I forgot.
Service: Absolutely fantastic! We received welcome fruits, desserts, a card, and drinks. There was bottled water everywhere, unopened pens, and a whole toiletry bag of amenities. The disposable hotel slippers were exceptionally comfortable, which is a rare and pleasant surprise. Housekeeping was prompt but never intrusive. They even gave my daughter the room card as a souvenir.
I heard the swimming pool and gym are excellent, but I didn't get a chance to experience them this time as I was traveling with my child. I'll definitely check them out next time, haha.FromDKK 2,410

Next, the location! Nanjing East Road and People's Square are right in front, which was great for tours (many meeting points are at People's Square) and shopping. Before heading back to Beijing, I chose this healing hotel for a few days of rest in Shanghai. Here's my experience:
Facilities and Activities 🏊🏻♂️:
1. Guests can use the hot spring, which wasn't crowded and wasn't very large. There are two public pools, one in the hot spring area and another on the 11th floor of the hotel. The gym is also small. There are free healing activities every day, with more options on weekends, including children's craft experiences 👍🏻.
2. The kids' club is on the second floor of the hot spring area, but children cannot be left unattended; parents must supervise them. I suggest they change this – if parents are constantly watching their kids, how can they have time to spend money? 😓
Environment 🌲: As a healing hotel, you essentially stay within the hotel. There isn't much to do in the surrounding area 😂.
Dining 🍜:
The breakfast at the Mystic restaurant is quite healthy. The executive lounge offers afternoon tea and light dinner. Yue Restaurant and Yuan Yan are actually the same restaurant.
Dining taste ranking ➡️ Yuan Yan > Mystic restaurant > Executive Lounge.
Service: Most of the staff provide excellent service. On weekends, due to more guests, the service quality can slightly dip 😝.

The room was very clean and well-equipped, making for a comfortable stay. My favorite part was the private hot spring tub in the room. After returning in the evening, I could soak anytime without needing a reservation, which offered excellent privacy.
The hotel also offers therapeutic activities like meditation. Unfortunately, I only stayed one night and didn't have much time to try them, but they seemed quite unique.
Parking at the hotel is very convenient, with plenty of spaces available. If you're driving, you basically don't have to worry about parking.
The hotel staff provided excellent and patient service. They were always quick to help with any issues and spoke very kindly.

This was our first time taking our child to Disney. Keeping our overall budget in mind, we stayed at the Disneyland Hotel for the first night and picked this hotel for the second. It was raining that evening and they seemed short-staffed; the employees were working hard and probably stretched thin trying to attend to everyone (management should really give them a raise/bonus!). It was too late to take photos, but the room was definitely much more spacious than the one at the Disneyland Hotel. There are no high-rises around here, the architectural style is very refreshing, and parking is convenient and spacious. The bathroom toiletries seemed custom-made—they had a unique scent and were great to use. We were also gifted two hot spring tickets; it wasn’t crowded and the experience was quite nice. Breakfast was pretty good (though it was packed because we went a bit late). The shower leaked a little, but it didn't really affect our stay. After resting up the next day, we strolled around the area for some food and shopping, which was a fantastic experience. All in all, the minor flaws don't outweigh the merits. Highly recommended for a weekend getaway with family and friends—I've already recommended it to mine.

I visited Qianyun after looking at dozens of places in the area. I wanted to be away from typical city area, have a bathtub and nice outdoor area, and with easy access to Shanghai Disneyland. Qianyun met all those requirements and more! The location was immediately very serene and surrounded by forest, but still easy to access lots of waimai food delivery options. They were also very kind and proactive about sharing information about local restaurants and activities, and provide a breakfast and evening fruit every day. They offer free car transport to Disneyland, and I was excited to use this service but I ended up enjoying my time at the hotel so much that I opted to stay and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere instead! The hotel pets are so friendly - within five minutes the little cat Banban was on my lap and purring.
The room itself is decorated very nicely with all the amenities you need. The bathtub inside is very comfortable and I loved the outdoor hot spring tub as well. The attention to hygiene is very highly emphasized and I was impressed with how clean and luxurious everything felt.
I will definitely visit again and recommend to anyone hoping to have a convenient getaway from the city, or who would like to be near to Disneyland Resort while also experiencing a more peaceful area and for a good economical value and high quality service!

We stayed in the Deluxe Business Double Room, and it was huge, spacious and very comfortable. The bathroom layout was especially impressive, with two sinks, a separate toilet, and separate shower facilities, which made it very convenient for a couple. My husband was particularly impressed with the room and said he would definitely like to stay at the same hotel again if we return to Shanghai.
The hotel location is very convenient, and our room was clean and well maintained. The reception staff were polite, professional and helpful throughout our stay. The bell boys were also very helpful and attentive, always ready to assist us when needed.
What impressed me most was the housekeeping team. The housekeepers were exceptionally warm, attentive and friendly. Whenever they saw us returning to our room, they would proactively check if we needed our room cleaned or required anything. They were always smiling and greeted us warmly whenever we met them. Their thoughtfulness and genuine hospitality made us feel very welcome. it is never an easy job to be a housekeeper tho.
While the reception team was professional and courteous, the housekeepers added an extra personal warmth that made our stay especially pleasant and memorable.
Overall, we had a wonderful experience at Grand Central Hotel Shanghai. Excellent room, excellent service and wonderful hospitality. We would definitely stay here again on our next visit to Shanghai!

The hotel's design seamlessly blends Eastern aesthetics with Western architectural beauty, exuding both old-money charm and luxurious style. All hotel staff are also bilingual in Chinese and English.
Experience: Our entire stay was fantastic. Since it was my birthday, Mia from Guest Services specially arranged a room upgrade for us. From the room, we could see the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, the Bund, and even the Magnolia Plaza across the river in North Bund. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the light show from here during the National Day holiday.
Mia and her colleagues also prepared a Tiramisu birthday cake and flowers for me, for which I am truly grateful.
Pool and Spa facilities: The indoor swimming pool's water quality was exceptionally clear, easily ranking among the top three of all the hotels I've visited. The sauna and cold plunge bath I experienced afterward were also excellent.
The only area for improvement is that there was no discount for in-house guests at the hotel's buffet lunch. Even so, we will still choose to stay at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai on our next visit to Shanghai.
Mia's professionalism and hospitality deserve commendation from the hotel and serve as an example for other service staff.

Upon check-in, the front desk staff were warm and thoughtful, explaining in detail how to use the executive lounge, including its hours and menu items. First off, the room decor is absolutely stunning, as it always is at W hotels. I've stayed at Ws in Xi'an, Macau, and Chengdu, and now Shanghai – their design aesthetic is consistently modern and really resonates with us Gen Z. The room layout and attention to detail are spot-on. They never disappoint when it comes to style.
Secondly, I won't go into too much detail about cleanliness; W hotels consistently maintain high standards, so no issues there.
Thirdly, the service was excellent. Any request I had was promptly considered and accommodated by the hotel. You feel the exceptional service from the moment you step into the hotel. Staff members are present from the luggage drop-off all the way to the elevator lobby, waiting to assist.
Furthermore, the dining experience was fantastic. The breakfast at every W I've visited has been superb, truly top-notch.
Finally, since it was our first time at the Shanghai W, the front desk even upgraded our room! I was pleasantly surprised to find myself in a 'Marvelous Suite'. The whole experience was absolutely brilliant.
The only minor drawback was that the drinks and room setup included in the Ctrip package weren't prepared in advance, even though I had called a day earlier. A true hidden gem in this modern high-rise. The hotel is in the same building as the Novotel – specifically, Citadines occupies floors 15 to 18. The check-in experience is an absolute 10/10: the team is incredibly welcoming, offering coffee, tea, and small pastries, plus there's a very pleasant coworking space.
The rooms feel like compact studios with a kitchenette: microwave, washing machine, dryer, a full-sized fridge, and lots of storage. The bed and pillows are supremely cozy, and the shower… just wow! The water pressure is outstanding – truly a delight. The door goes from floor to ceiling, so steam from long, hot showers stays inside the bathroom. The sink area is a little tight, but perfectly fine for one or two people. Special shout-out: the magnifying mirror and the Japanese toilet – a real touch of luxury that I thoroughly enjoyed.
This time was just a long weekend, and we had a fantastic, relaxing stay.
The only small drawback: the metro is about 1 km away, maybe slightly farther. But the value for money is so excellent that what you save on the hotel more than covers a taxi ride. In fact, I had a 6:00 am train from Hongqiao and pre-ordered a Didi – it took just 15 minutes door to door, which was incredibly convenient for me. Considering how reasonable the price at Citadines already is, the Didi cost felt like nothing. That sealed the deal for me.

The renovated guest rooms feature a classical Lingnan Chinese style, with exquisite details. As it was Mid-Autumn Festival during my stay, the room thoughtfully included mooncakes. The hotel also offers free historical guided tours, where a guide takes you through the hotel's historical corners, recounting its stories. The guide was very friendly and even provided individual recaps for guests who arrived late – a huge plus. Lingnan artistic elements are abundant throughout the hotel, making it a joy to explore. Dining had both highs and lows. Lingxuan Pavilion boasts a stunning environment and a high-class interior. The food selection is extensive, and the chef's selected à la carte dishes were of outstanding quality. My only minor disappointment was an incorrect gender on the personalized card; it was also mistaken during a previous phone call, and I was surprised it was still incorrect on the card. However, this is a small detail that doesn't detract from the overall experience. The Liwan Pavilion has a charming Xiguan-style ambiance, but the food quality was average and prices were a bit high. The hotel's lounge offers decent food and an acceptable atmosphere, but the space is a bit small with no views, and the service was quite unnoticeable, making that experience somewhat ordinary.
I've previously stayed at Guangzhou's other two major long-standing hotels: White Swan Hotel and China Hotel. Compared horizontally, while the Garden Hotel's dining might be slightly less refined than the White Swan, its overall experience is superior, especially considering the price point, making it excellent value for money. Its location is also a major advantage, situated in the old city, making it very convenient for exploring local eateries, with the renowned Lai Heen restaurant right next door.

Downstairs is Exit D of Yuexiu Park Station on Line 2, and if you walk west across the road, you'll reach Liuhua Station on Line 11.
To the north, you have the Canton Fair complex, and to the east, Yuexiu Park.
There's also a famous food street downstairs, along with plenty of coffee shops and dessert stores.
You can tell the hotel is quite old, with a dedicated exhibition hall on the first floor showcasing its history. However, apart from slightly lower ceilings and a retro decor, the rooms don't feel dated at all; it seems like it was renovated just a few years ago.
The breakfast selection is incredibly rich, offering both Chinese and Western options, plus a Middle Eastern section and a Japanese corner. The only downside is the poor quality of the beans for the freshly ground coffee, and the brewed coffee wasn't much better. It's hard to imagine a five-star hotel having such unpalatable coffee… The rooms only come with drip coffee and instant coffee. For a suite, I'd expect at least a capsule coffee machine.
The Executive Lounge is made up of small, individual rooms, so the ambiance is quite ordinary. The white wine was good, but if you have breakfast in the lounge, there are no live cooking stations and very limited choices, so it's better to go to the second floor.FromDKK 695

The pool was very clean, and the water temperature was fine in early autumn, though I imagine it would be too cold for swimming later in the fall. Traveled with elderly family members and kids during the National Day holiday. Let's start with the positives: the hotel has a non-motorized outdoor play area with plenty of space for the kids to run around. There are enough hot spring pools, and the swimming pool is quite nice. It was a heartwarming touch that the staff proactively offered foot soaking buckets to guests not wearing swimsuits, and complimentary tea was well-stocked. It's understandable that they struggled to keep up with clean towels during peak hours.
There were plenty of holiday activities for kids, but no one informed us in advance. We only found out about them at check-out, so we missed out on basically everything. The staff claimed they didn't mention it because they ”didn't see us checking in with kids”...
The website stated the hotel was renovated in 2018, but the room we were actually assigned dated back to its opening in 2002... Rooms on the 4th floor are from 2002, 6th-floor rooms were renovated in 2024, and only some rooms on the 3rd and 5th floors were updated in 2018. For both days of our stay, our room had a persistent sewer smell; oddly enough, the bathroom itself was spotless and odor-free, so it might be coming from the AC duct. Hopefully, the hotel can fix this soon.
Lastly, even though it was a holiday, this is marketed as a family-friendly hotel. Having guests set off extremely loud fireworks at 11:00 PM—startling the kids awake—was unacceptable. My room was a luxurious suite with private bath tub (around hkd 3000 for two nights including breakfast). Hardware is definitely exceptional. However when it comes to service it is below standard:
1) front desk - service was poor without any greetings such as bell boy. Front desk officers were unhappy without any eye contact when they talk to you. No hospitality at all;
2) breakfast - the quality both food and service were not up to a 4 or 5 star service. Table was not clean, staffs were almost unfriendly, except one female manager and one staff, all staffs were rushing their task and unwelcoming. I believe the hotel management need to motivate their staff ,otherwise, people won’t come again.
3) Amnenties - room is a luxurious suite with private bath tub, massage chair, kitchen , dining table and queen bed. The tub was not very clean, with water splitting . Such a waste as their service was not meeting the standard of what it is expected to be a 5- star resort. (The environment, garden were nicely decorated indeed) The Hot Spring pool is well known but I have’s try so cannot comment.
I won’t come to this resort again, if the service of the hotel haven’t improved. And I won’t recommend travelers with kids who is looking for a family friendly and good service resort.

Honestly, the overall environment was decent, and there were several pleasant surprises during our stay, like the afternoon tea included in our package and the fruit platter specially provided at the hot spring. I arrived at 7:30 PM and was warmly greeted by a middle-aged (actually quite young) lady in a black suit uniform, Ms. [0573 Hu Baodi]! Other restaurant staff informed me that hotel guests receive a 10% discount on dining, and on Teachers' Day, September 10th, teachers with relevant identification would also receive a discount.
After dinner, I suddenly had a craving for mooncakes... I saw that mooncakes were on the menu... After inquiring with the staff, I learned that mooncakes were selling fast, in high demand, and some varieties were already out of stock... The restaurant manager, upon learning of this, quickly provided a solution – to check the inventory records in the warehouse and help me find the relevant products... It was already 9:15 PM, only 15 minutes before closing time at 9:30 PM. The restaurant manager could have easily brushed me off with excuses like ”out of stock” or ”sold out”... However, this manager did not! Instead, she responsibly handled the issue and tried her best to meet the customer's needs! She personally plated the mooncakes, brought cutlery, and thoughtfully said, ”Closing time is 9:30 PM, but we can extend it by 10-15 minutes if needed!” I couldn't help but ask, ”Why is your restaurant service so good?! Won't this delay your off-duty time?” She replied, ”15 minutes is definitely not enough to eat mooncakes... that would be too rushed...” This manager also enthusiastically helped us change to a fresh pot of tea! When she learned that we were hotel guests, the manager said, ”Then you should enjoy your meals and drinks even more at the hotel restaurant!”... ”Coming to the restaurant is like coming home for a meal!” I never expected such a broad mind and high-level perspective from this restaurant manager! This service philosophy of ”leaving convenience for guests and trouble for oneself” is truly touching! What's more, I never expected a hotel restaurant manager to treat hotel guests like family! I believe this restaurant is not only dedicated to serving in-house guests but also provides a ”home away from home” experience for every customer who dines there!

I arrived on the evening of September 30th, a day before the main tourist crowd, and the high-floor views were absolutely stunning! It wasn't too crowded yet, so the experience was excellent. From the in-room amenities to the quality of the room service, everything met high standards. However, once the National Day holiday officially started the next day and it got crowded, things started to go downhill.
Firstly, the elevators became difficult to catch. After exiting the elevator on the 70th floor, you were immediately met with a large, noisy, and chaotic crowd. It was hard to distinguish between guests and tourists, as many people were there just to take photos.
Secondly, the breakfast on the 72nd floor became exceptionally chaotic. It was incredibly noisy and crowded, and the staff seemed constantly overwhelmed. Orders were forgotten or missed; tea took forever to arrive, or we'd order two drinks and only get one. On the first day, when there were fewer people, plates were cleared promptly, but on the subsequent two days, hardly anyone came to clear them, so they just piled up on our table.
Turndown service was my favorite part. Coming back from outside to a clean and tidy room always made me feel happy, comfortable, and relaxed. It truly gave us that 'home away from home' feeling. Many hotels no longer offer turndown service, but Four Seasons still does. However, why wasn't it provided on our third night? Was it too busy? Perhaps my stay two years ago was so exceptional that this time the disparity was too great, leaving me very disappointed. Two years ago, I booked an Opera House View room, and the hotel proactively upgraded me to an Executive Canton Tower View room. The butler at that time was also incredibly enthusiastic. So, for our family's Mid-Autumn Festival trip this year, I still chose the Ritz, but the actual experience this time was uncomfortable.
1. I had previously asked the hotel through Ctrip to arrange a butler. This butler, Thalia, might as well have been a robot; her communication was consistently stiff and cold. Any request I made was met with a declaration that it would incur a fee. I understand that hotels face operational challenges and need to control costs, but as a five-star hotel operating under the 'Ladies and Gentlemen serving Ladies and Gentlemen' philosophy, even if a guest's request cannot be met, there should be a more tactful way of responding. The hotel urgently needs to improve its training in butler service capabilities!
2. This time, I booked a Canton Tower View Twin room and specifically requested a high floor. On the day of check-in, I noticed many available rooms on various platforms, suggesting an average occupancy rate. However, the front desk only assigned us to the 26th floor. The first impression upon entering was that it looked like a state-run guesthouse, completely different from the room I stayed in two years ago. Moreover, looking out the window, I could only see the roof of the museum in front, which was very depressing. I immediately went to the front desk to request a room change. Fortunately, a duty manager helped coordinate, and we were eventually upgraded to an executive floor, similar to what I had two years ago. The room decor there was a world apart from the 26th-floor room. The hotel has too significant a difference in room decor between its non-executive and executive floors, which will lead to losing some of its basic clientele!
3. We were upgraded to an executive floor but received no executive benefits. We paid an extra bed fee, but it didn't include breakfast, and the little lion (children's amenity) had to be purchased separately. These are hotel rules, but couldn't there be a better way to handle things to retain customers?

I know this hotel is undergoing renovations, and some packages for the new room types even include lounge access and five meals a day, which offers excellent value for money!
First, regarding the room, the newly renovated style is minimalist and refined. The room feels very spacious and has excellent natural light. The bathroom amenities include Diptyque shampoo, shower gel, and lotion, which was a very pleasant touch.
Next, concerning the dining, the five meals included afternoon tea, happy hour, evening dessert and drinks after check-in, and breakfast and lunch on the second day. The afternoon tea was a pleasant surprise. Although the food selection for happy hour wasn't extensive, it focused on quality over quantity. I didn't get to enjoy the late-night dessert session, but I learned that it was a chocolate-themed dessert night, and the themes are updated regularly. It's worth noting that no matter when you dine, you can enjoy unlimited alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
Finally, I'd like to commend the hotel's service. All the staff I encountered during this stay were extremely polite and friendly. Especially Miss Sahar at the front desk, the check-in process was very smooth and efficient, and she even followed up afterward to see if I needed any assistance. A male staff member in the lounge also provided very professional service, always greeting us with a warm smile every time we entered the lounge for a meal.

Opened in 2009, the Grand Hyatt Shenzhen is already 17 years old, making it a truly 'old' hotel in China. When you talk about old hotels, there's always the sentiment of 'new over old' and a dismissive scorn for outdated decor. However, my impression of the Grand Hyatt Shenzhen is 'old on the outside, young at heart.'
The hotel's decor undeniably feels dated and old-fashioned by today's standards. Yet, the presence of new bidet toilets and sturdy, well-maintained bathroom fixtures prevents the hardware from feeling run-down. Furthermore, the meticulous and neat bed-making clearly demonstrates the hotel's housekeeping department is on top of their game. I'm not sure if all rooms are like this, but in the corner king room I stayed in, there was a palpable sense that even the air felt clean. This is thanks to the meticulously clean windows, which at one point gave me the impression of being in a Japanese hotel.
The hotel is very close to Luohu Port, and from the guestroom, you can take in panoramic views of Luohu landmarks such as Kingkey 100 and Diwang Building. Luohu must be considered an older district in Shenzhen, and it certainly lives up to its reputation with plenty of dining, drinking, and entertainment options! The sky lobby offers stunning views. The twin room in the Club Lounge was spacious and comfortable, the bedding provided a very restful sleep, and the cleanliness was impeccable. The service was attentive and courteous. The food selection at the Club Lounge was diverse and delicious. It was an excellent stay! I stayed in a runway view king room during the National Day holiday, and the overall experience was good. It's a great airport hotel for aviation enthusiasts.
From an aviation enthusiast's perspective, the hotel itself is a fantastic spot for taking photos. The 5th-floor terrace and some rooms offer excellent views for photographing the southern approach to Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport's west runway. The hotel rooms feature a double-window design: the inner window can be fully opened, while the outer window has a normal restrictor, allowing for ventilation but not full opening. This design effectively balances soundproofing and security with a good viewing experience. It's quite enjoyable to sit on the sofa and watch the bustling airport outside.
From a regular guest's perspective, the hotel's soundproofing is excellent. With both windows closed, the room remains relatively quiet even when large aircraft start their engines on the tarmac outside or when bird-scaring cannons are used nearby. This is a crucial feature for an airport hotel.
The hotel is connected to the terminal via a dedicated walkway, making it less than a 15-minute walk to the check-in counters, which is very convenient. The P2 parking lot is located downstairs, making car rental and return equally convenient.
The room amenities are standard for a hotel of this caliber, including a bathtub, although the bathroom felt a bit cramped overall. The garden terrace on the 5th floor is a major highlight, perfect for both plane spotting and relaxing strolls in the garden and on the lawn.
Service was warm and attentive. During breakfast and dinner buffets, order was well-maintained. When children cried, staff proactively assisted parents in calming them down, striving to maintain a quiet and comfortable dining environment. Pool management was also very good; even with large crowds during the National Day holiday, the changing rooms remained clean and orderly.
Regarding dining, I tried breakfast, the evening buffet, and the Chinese restaurant. Breakfast offered a rich variety, with comprehensive congee, noodle, egg, and pancake stations, and some daily variations. The evening buffet and Chinese restaurant were generally decent, and the dinner even featured a live singer, creating a pleasant atmosphere.
I have two suggestions for future improvements. First, parking guidance. The hotel has its own parking area on the L floor and also uses the airport's P2 parking. It took some effort to find the L-floor parking area on my first visit, and I hope the signage and guidance along the way can be improved. Second, there are several steps between the L-floor parking area and the hotel lobby, which is inconvenient for guests with luggage. I hope a ramp or other accessible pathways can be added in the future.
Overall, it was a great stay. It's an ideal choice for guests needing to catch a flight, rent a car, and especially for aviation enthusiasts. I would consider staying here again on my next visit to Shenzhen.FromDKK 590

This is probably the most comfortable Hilton I've ever stayed at, and specifically the Nanhai Wing. It's the renovated old-school Shenzhen's first five-star Nanhai Hotel, and it even has a small garden downstairs, giving it a full retro resort vibe. The Wanghai Wing, on the other hand, is more postmodern in style. The front desk staff thoughtfully gave us an extra breakfast. The kids' toiletries, slippers, and bathrobes were also adorable. Room service was excellent. The Nanhai pool is 2 meters deep, perfect for a comfortable swim, and it wasn't crowded even during the National Day holiday. The public areas also have a sauna, hot tubs, and relaxation areas. The Wanghai side has a shallower outdoor pool suitable for kids and a dedicated children's pool, which tends to be a bit busier. There's also an indoor pool and a jacuzzi. The shuttle service between the two hotels is frequent, but they're actually very close, just a 3-minute walk apart. The suite in the Nanhai Wing offers excellent value for money compared to equivalent room types in the Wanghai Wing. It has two large balconies and a sofa bed that can be opened up, easily accommodating a family of four. The room design is great, with the bathroom, shower, toilet, and walk-in closet each being independent spaces that can be separated by sliding doors. Getting around from the Nanhai Wing is also very convenient; the elevator is very close to the lobby entrance, and you don't need to go up and down hills within the hotel. The front desk is tucked away in the back and isn't very prominent. Now for the room: the lack of design or the ordinary design is most apparent here. There are too many mirrors, which often startle you. There's even a mirror next to the bathtub, and when you shower, it fogs up, which isn't a good look. Perhaps the bathtub is a bit small, and the mirror is meant to visually expand the space. On that note, the bathtub is tiny – probably more suitable for children under ten. The curtains, both the blinds and the roller blind, look cheap and unattractive, and they're also difficult to use. The mini-bar, aside from Coke, Sprite, mineral water, and two small tea bags, is pretty much empty. The main light in the room is a three-head chandelier, and one of the bulbs seems to be broken and replaced with a different style, which looks mismatched. I don't think chandeliers are really suitable for hotel rooms.
Around 1 to 2 PM, there was a lot of noise in the corridor, probably from a vacuum cleaner. It was really loud; they shouldn't be cleaning at that time.
On the brighter side, the hotel is quite close to the subway station, and the view from the room's window is full of greenery. Our room also had views of Shenzhen Bay No. 1, China Resources Tower, and the Shenzhen Bay Port Building.FromDKK 799

To get to the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, you need to take a taxi to the bus station and then catch a bus to Zhongshan. There was no commentary during the entire trip, so I didn't get a real sense of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link. Nantou Ancient Town was okay, a small pedestrian street, but our stay was short, and we also encountered heavy rain. There were some things I liked about Sentosa Hotel, but unfortunately my overall experience was disappointing.
The room was very spacious, although a little dated. When we arrived, the room type we had booked was unavailable, so the hotel upgraded us to a better room, which I really appreciated. Our room had a wardrobe and a bathtub, and the view of the city from the bathroom was absolutely amazing.
The hotel also has a large swimming pool, which was one of the reasons I chose it. However, one day we went swimming and there were no towels available. You are also not allowed to take the pool towels back to your room. A swimming cap is required, although this is quite common in China, so I don’t consider that a major issue.
The room had a stove, which initially seemed very convenient, but there were no pots or other cookware provided, making the stove essentially useless. There was also no washing machine. The internet was another major problem — the connection was extremely poor and sometimes barely worked even with Chinese websites.
The most disappointing part of our stay happened on our check-out day. Our confirmed check-out time was 14:00, but the hotel called us early in the morning and told us that we needed to leave the room immediately because of an “emergency situation.” They did not seem concerned that our agreed check-out time was several hours later. I later found out that the supposed emergency was actually related to a meeting/event being held at the hotel, and guests were being asked to leave their rooms early because of it. I found this extremely unprofessional and stressful. After discussing it with the hotel, we eventually reached an agreement that allowed us some time, but this experience significantly affected my rating.
The location is also fairly quiet. There is a 7-Eleven nearby, but not much else within the immediate area. I didn’t find any shopping malls or tourist attractions nearby. There is a park, but otherwise there isn’t much to do. On the positive side, the metro station is only around a 7–10 minute walk away, so getting to other parts of Shenzhen is relatively convenient.
Overall, the hotel has some strong points: spacious rooms, a large pool, good metro access, and potentially fantastic city views. I was also grateful for the room upgrade. However, the extremely poor internet, lack of basic kitchen equipment, limited surroundings, and especially the way the hotel handled our check-out made the stay much less enjoyable than it could have been.FromDKK 426

The only minor inconvenience is that it's not very easy to get a taxi due to being at the pedestrian street entrance, but it didn't really affect us much.
The room was a bit small, which is understandable as rooms in other nearby hotels are also not very large. The service was excellent. I initially booked an inner-facing room by mistake. When I contacted the hotel, they helped me change rooms as soon as they saw availability, and even upgraded us to a 2-meter king-size bed room when they saw I was with a child. But what it shocked us was the room we requested is FULLY NON SMOKING ROOM and the signage display a non smoking room level, you still can smell heavy cigarettes on the floor, even you can spot the cigarette smoke under the light clearly. I think the hotel caters the group tours and the local guests were arranged on the same floor and they open their doors and fully, chi-chatting to next door loudly and smoking in the same time with fully ignoring the signage warning. This is the only unpleasant way with our experience on staying 2 nights here.
Oh ya, by the way the hotel should limit the tour agent on hard selling their local package tour to the guests too repetitive. We have arranged our tour and told them all were booked in advanced, but their hard sell attitude has annoyed us many times while entering or exiting the hotel.

Unfortunately i didn't take many pictures but recorded videos. I booked a room type as shown in the first but received something smaller as the one in the second pic, weirdly cut. I didn't notice it as first as i was distracted by the strong smoke smell and asked the lady to change, who tried to sell me a qin shi huang mausoleum tour. Then i was brought to a room type as the one in the first pic, that's when i realised that's what i initially had booked... but there was still a smoke smell and as i really had to use the toilet i simply thought of using the A/C and opening the window, hoping it'd get better. By the evening i got startled by someone knocking at the door only to realise it was someone knocking on my neighbouring door. That's when i realised there was a 1-2cm gap between the floor and door and why i heard that loud knock. I also noticed neighbouring doors were fine and even asked the neighbouring guests if they could hear me. Anyway; that's when i demanded for a second change and only then, when i was a bit assertive and insisting on a new room, did i get a proper room. But there was small issue with the 3rd room too, with the drainage as the water took around 5mins to flow away, making noise. But that wasn't an big issue. It seems like this hotel seems to follow the procedure to give problematic rooms to customers who seem easy-going, which is a known tactic to chinese people from china but not so to foreigners. Beside of that, my stay was pleasant, the breakfast was rich and they have a big variety. I just think it was a bit of a waste of time trying to sell those tobacco smell rooms to me. You can easily fix those by endorsing proper no smoking rules or use a filter machine before, removing smoke. First off, the hotel's location is fantastic. It's perfectly situated between the North Square of the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda and the Grand Tang Dynasty Everbright City, making it super convenient to get to both. You can see the pagoda right outside the door, and exploring Everbright City is a breeze – just turn right when you leave the hotel. Across the street is the Joy City commercial area, so dining options are plentiful. It was incredibly convenient for our family trip with seniors and kids; we could just pop back to the hotel to rest whenever we got tired.
Secondly, the hotel service was excellent, truly satisfying. Before we even arrived, a staff member contacted us to explain important traffic control information for the holiday period and even sent us the performance schedule for Grand Tang Dynasty Everbright City, saving us the hassle of looking it up ourselves. During our stay, our child needed to print daily homework for school, and the hotel staff kindly helped print it every day, which was great. They also upgraded our room, provided two days of breakfast for both kids, and gave us two extra tickets to the Qujiang Museum (B2 level). Let's start with the pros: The service was great, the concierge had a wonderful attitude, and the rooms were relatively spacious.
The location is quite good, situated in Qujiang with plenty of restaurants nearby. It's right across from Qujiang Pool and very close to the Grand Tang Mall and Giant Wild Goose Pagoda.
The restaurant offers freshly made noodles and roujiamo (Chinese pork buns). There’s a decent variety, but the taste was just average.
As for the cons, first, the soundproofing was terrible. I had to constantly listen to the upbeat, heavy-bass startup music from the TV next door—both at night and at 7:00 AM—which was extremely annoying.
Second was the view. As shown in the pictures, I was genuinely shocked to hear that the neighboring Rose Garden property costs 70,000 RMB per square meter. Our room has a completely unobstructed view of the opposite building, and I’m pretty sure they can see straight into ours just as clearly (check the photos for reference). On October 3rd, around 10:30 AM when we were checking out, there was a slightly taller security guard at the entrance. I was with a pregnant woman, an elderly person, and a child, and I asked him to help put our luggage in the car trunk. The security guard, however, refused, saying he needed to maintain order at the entrance first. Our car was right there at the entrance; shouldn't he have offered a hand to put the luggage in the trunk? Even in non-five-star hotels across the country where I've stayed, the security guards always help with luggage. Therefore, the management and standards for security at this hotel are inadequate. I booked this hotel last minute, and it turned out to be the biggest surprise of our trip! The location is unbeatable; right outside, there are bus and subway stations, making it super convenient to get to all the attractions. The front desk staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. Check-in only took two minutes, and they patiently recommended some great local restaurants. Although the room wasn't huge, it was well-designed and didn't feel cramped at all. The cleanliness was top-notch, and the bathroom had a separate wet and dry area with great water pressure, making for a very comfortable shower. For this price, it even included breakfast for two. While the selection wasn't lavish, they had baozi, congee, small dishes, and fruit – more than enough to fill you up. When I checked out, I left something in the room. The cleaning staff found it and immediately handed it over to the front desk, who then promptly contacted me. They were incredibly responsible. This is an older five-star hotel, located just 5 minutes from Xi'an Railway Station, making it incredibly convenient if you're arriving by train.
The location is excellent, with two different subway stations at either end of the street, so you can choose the most convenient one for your needs.
The service was outstanding. We arrived early after an overnight train journey and were able to check in early, which allowed us to freshen up before heading out. When we left, our train schedule was a bit awkward, and they graciously allowed us a late checkout. This was a huge plus. It truly shows the quality service you expect from a star-rated hotel.
The hotel facilities are a bit dated, not quite matching new chain hotels, but the rooms and bathrooms are both very spacious. It still meets star hotel standards, which I personally appreciate.
The breakfast buffet offers a wide variety of options, including both Chinese and Western dishes, and even features Shaanxi specialty snacks. It saved us the trouble of finding food outside every morning, which was a great convenience.
Room cleaning was prompt, and amenities were always fully replenished.
The only minor drawback is that the lighting in the room was a bit dim, which is understandable for an older establishment.
The price is also very reasonable, not much more expensive than other places.

This is an established five-star hotel located near Tumen subway station. It's about a 15-20 minute taxi ride to attractions like Sajin Bridge, Drum Tower, Bell Tower, and Muslim Quarter, costing around 17 RMB. Visiting the Great Qin Empire exhibit (纠纠大秦) is also convenient, about a 15-minute drive and 15 RMB. The swimming pool is very clean, and the lifeguard is exceptionally nice, patrolling nearby and even offering swimming tips. This is by far the best hotel I've stayed at in recent years!
The entire hotel staff is highly professional, and their excellent service is evident at every step of your stay. While waiting for a ride-hailing car in the lobby, staff members would proactively approach me to ask about my destination and offer guidance for travel if I had questions. When I was taking photos in the lobby, staff members would also come over to help me find good angles and assist with the pictures. Whether it was checking in, having breakfast, or being at the hotel's pool or bar... in every scenario during my stay, I felt meticulous and thoughtful service, with many proactive and attentive touches that made for a very comfortable experience.
I especially want to thank Flora Qiu Jianyue from the concierge team. We had three suitcases with us, and the booked car couldn't fit all of them, so we needed to move luggage back and forth. It was the scorching midday sun in Xi'an, and I was waiting in the shade with my three children. I called her over to avoid the sun, but she insisted on staying in the scorching sun to look after our luggage, helped us move it back and forth, and arranged for a different car. This small detail was truly heartwarming.
The hotel's predecessor was the historic People's Grand Hotel, now part of the Sofitel Legend brand. The building itself boasts a rich historical heritage, but it's impeccably maintained. The furniture and public areas are kept in pristine condition, appearing new and polished, and everything is meticulously cared for, striking a perfect balance between old and new.
The breakfast selection is abundant, and the taste is excellent. The toiletries provided in the room are Maison Caulières 'L'Aube des Sens,' with a sophisticated and gentle fragrance that I really enjoyed.
Both the hardware maintenance and the service awareness of all staff members are impeccable. You definitely shouldn't miss this hotel when you come to Xi'an.FromDKK 1,529

I arrived late for check-in, and the front desk agent, Vivian, patiently explained the room types and even upgraded me to a better room. She was very warm and attentive, and the check-in process was quick, not wasting my time. However, while I was resting at noon, Trip.com called me, claiming I hadn't paid, which was completely unreasonable! When I booked, I clearly saw it was an online payment, and I had already paid the room fee. They also told me they couldn't directly deduct the amount and insisted I contact the hotel to pay again. I tried to communicate with Trip.com, but they just kept apologizing with pointless excuses, telling me to contact the hotel. Trip.com is simply wasting people's time and resources, trying to make me pay 1800 twice for one room! I'm very grateful to Vivian for actively coordinating and processing the refund for the room fee I initially paid to Trip.com. I apologize for disturbing her rest!FromDKK 607

This hotel deserves a five-star rating! I checked in on October 1st to a business twin room, and here's why it's so great:
1. **Room**: While not brand new, it's not old either. It was very clean and tidy, and you can really tell the quality of the decor and facilities from this established five-star hotel. The business twin room had large, bright windows.
2. **Food & Drink**: The room came with four complimentary bottles of water, a fruit platter, and two yogurts.
**Breakfast**: This was five-star hotel standard, with a variety of breads, tofu pudding, noodles, pork rib soup, and even poached fish and stir-fries – basically lunch-level fare! Highly recommended!
Just about 200 meters to the right after exiting the hotel, there are many restaurants, including a popular BBQ joint and a hot pot place. They were packed with people eating outside, so they must be delicious. However, I had already eaten and didn't try them.
3. **Location**: It's less than a 5-minute walk from Datang Xishi Metro Station. The airport shuttle bus stop is across the street at the Civil Aviation Building. I left at 10 AM on October 2nd, and despite a bit of traffic on Fengcheng Road, I reached T5 Terminal in 50 minutes.
4. **Service**: The front desk staff were very proactive, enthusiastic, and genuinely helpful, not just going through the motions.
5. **Price**: On the evening of October 1st, a business twin room was only 358 RMB, including two breakfasts. Keep in mind that on the same night, even budget hotels like Hanting (Rujia) were over 300 RMB.
After 20 years of business and leisure travel, this is my first time writing a hotel review. In four words: conscientious and excellent value.FromDKK 244

The hotel is located in the Qujiang New District, quite close to the Grand Tang Everbright City, and directly opposite a commercial complex, making dining and shopping very convenient. Choosing Xi'an Weimu Hotel was a smart decision for my transfer at Xi'an North Station on my way to Urumqi. The hotel offers a free shuttle service to and from Xi'an North Station, which was incredibly convenient. The shuttle driver was very enthusiastic and thoughtful, providing detailed information during the pick-up, as you can see in the pictures. The hotel room was clean, hygienic, and tidy; our business king room was very spacious. Since we had an early morning high-speed train, we didn't have breakfast at the hotel, but they provided a good quality packed meal for us. The hotel is located next to a shopping complex, making dining and shopping very convenient. I would definitely choose this hotel again when I visit Xi'an.
