Grand Central Hotel Shanghai

Hello! From August 13, 2018, to May 28, 2026, here I am again at the Grand Hotel Shanghai! All the furnishings and facilities are just as I remember them, and the service is as warm as ever. The only things that hint at the passage of time are the slightly worn leather on the desk and the somewhat aged bathroom fixtures; otherwise, everything is absolutely perfect! It boasts a fantastic location, incredibly warm service, and delicious, tasty breakfasts – especially that authentic bowl of Lanzhou pulled noodles 🍜. And the view of Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street right outside the window brings back so many memories; it truly feels like coming home. It's such a wonderful feeling! I know for next time, whenever that may be, I'll definitely choose it again. 🥰

Although it's an older hotel, the facilities are incredibly well-maintained, and it's very clean. The environment is excellent, and the location is super convenient for getting to the Bund and Yu Garden. The lobby has an old-money vibe, full of classic Old Shanghai charm. The main highlight, though, is the exceptional service. My daughter and I had heavy luggage, and the staff at the entrance were incredibly enthusiastic and helped us carry it. While I was waiting to check in and having a drink at the lobby bar, the lobby manager was so warm and patiently answered all my questions about sightseeing and travel. Definitely recommended! I'll be staying here again next time.

The rooms and service are consistently good, as always. The courtyard in the patio is perfect for friends to gather and chat, offering a unique ambiance. Plus, the location is excellent; it's just a block or two from Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street and Nanjing East Road Metro Station, and also very close to the Bund. Do be aware that it's an older hotel, so some of the facilities are a bit dated.

We stayed for 4 nights during the May Day holiday in Shanghai. The hotel's downtown location is excellent; it's just a block away from Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street and very close to the subway station, making transportation incredibly convenient. I was especially impressed by Francis Zhang from the concierge. His service was patient and attentive throughout our stay. During our time exploring Shanghai, he helped my elderly companion in and out of the hotel and car, and even assisted us in planning routes to popular attractions. This saved us a lot of hassle and effort, truly making us feel right at home.

Facilities: 10/10 Cleanliness: 10/10 Ambiance: 10/10 Service: 10/10 Pool, gym, location… just very satisfied.
