This is my solo trip to kl. Firstly, it is located near TBS. The most convenient point is there is a bus T560 can reach sungai besi lrt and can easily go to Bukit Jalil or to TRX. The hotel room impression is simple and tidy. It is good to have short term trip to kl.

This place is a great getaway for couples. They don't allow kids under 12, and in fact, maximum 2 people per room. The facilities include in-room jacuzzi (not sure if all rooms have this, but ours did!), very nice and natural swimming pool and gardens. They have a spa where we enjoyed a wonderful massage, a bit pricey, but well worth it. The restaurant and staff are incredibly nice and efficient, food was great. The room was very clean, and lots of amenities (tea, coffee, minibar, toiletries, lots of towels, etcetera). The overall facilities are well kept and clean, but some might think just a bit run down: there is a lot of wood, which is hard to maintain in good condition, but it was not a huge issue for us. As for the location, if you are going to KL to shop, this may not be the place for you: it is just a bit off the beaten track. However, there is an LRT station (Ampang Park) about a 15-minute walk or 5-minute drive from the hotel. But close to the hotel, there is not much in the way of shops or restaurants. For our 3-day getaway, it was perfect, and we would certainly do it again.

Was very excited when i booked this hotel, afterall it is Banyan Tree that we are talking about, and most importantly, it did not come cheap, so we thought the service would be exceptional. When we first arrived, the friendly porters helped us with our bags, as the front desk was up at the 53rd floor. The front desk guy who served us was very friendly as well. When we asked for a non-corner room, he told us it was not a corner room. But when we went up, it was a corner room. Upon entering the room, there was a very strong smell that lingered in the room and smelled like a room that was cleaned using a dirty mop. After calling the operator to inform about the situation, they did not come right away even after saying they would (this is my first encounter because usually other hotels have the practice of turning up right away when i called). We waited for a long time before we called again. But we had to wait again and decided to leave to inform the front desk of this situation before we went out for our activities. On the night itself, we requested for 2 extra pillows. The staff did not come even after 15-20 mins and so we had to call again and again (even though they said they would). The next morning, we had their breakfast. It was pleasant, but i would say the selections were not that widespread. However, the staff in the restarant were very proactive and friendly. Requested for late check out but the to 12.30pm. All in all, the waiting time for housekeeping was very slow. Sad to say, this hotel did not leave me a very good impression, and rather average, given the price we paid.

E&O Residences is a great service apartment, it has a great location where the nearest shopping mall is only a 10 minute walk . On one of the nights I saw a huge cockroach in one of the bathroom floors, to add on to that some parts of the floor were on the verge of being broken.

Overall had a wonderful experience in Ascott, The rooms were big and comfy, had a kitchen & huge living rooms. The balconies were big but not really maintained as the floors were a little dirty and the building was a little old. The toilets were huge and the bath tub was longer than usual which made soaking in it much more comfortable. However, the balcony doors had a little issue with staying closed and the we found a roach in the kitchen cabinets. Overal 9/10 would stay again, price is a little steep & the air conditioning isn’t very strong. Do note that parking is 10RM, requires room card validation. ( no free parking )

We came for a getaway in December 2024 and stayed in Sofitel. Tucked in a quiet area, it was out of the way from the city centre. The staff were always eager to greet or hold the doors for guests, which were very thoughtful. The hotel was exquisite looking and the interior was beautifully decorated with christmas items. The room was clean and spacious. The hotel staff would bring you to your assigned seat for breakfast and serve you coffee/tea as you wished. We weren’t able to describe the breakfast spread, you have to see it for yourself! All the delicacies from Malaysia in this dining area (from roti changi, congee, noodles, nasi lemak, chicken rice, ayam masak merah, different types of cheese, deli and honey are provided. We took star anise honey for 1 day and cinnamon honey for the other. There’s also salad bar, mini fruit cups and different types of yoghurts for you to choose. Also, the hotel is located next to Damansara City Mall where there’s a huge grocer and you can walk to Pavilion Damansara Heights (within 5 to 10 minutes) for Massage, shopping or dining option. We also opted for a set of afternoon tea at the lounge, it was nice to relax and ate some pastries. We love this hotel, highly recommended if you’re looking for a quiet place with food options available!❤️

Ambient and decor are perfect. Staff are helpful and friendly; they assist us with our additional help we sought from them. Quality toiletries; I personally love the hair shampoo and conditioner from Aesop. Everything was good until the midnight like 1-2am. there’s quite a consistent noise from the A/C unit as it gets more annoying entering midnight when the surrounding turned quiet. I have to switch it off to get a disturb-free sleep. I booked a room with city view (at floor 7, the highest level).

Overall the location was great. We find it easy to get around the city. The room was spacious and comfortable. However, just a generous feedback on the tv its kinda old and there’s limited channel to it. It would be great to have a few channels available as some might be staying over with children. Thank you for making our stay a pleasant experience. We will definitely be coming back again.

Explore Kuala Lumpur: Transportation, Attractions, Food & More

As the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur sits at the heart of Malaysia, both geographically and culturally. The name "Kuala Lumpur" actually translates to "Muddy Confluence" in Malay, referring to the spot where the Klang and Gombak rivers merge. There are more than just skyscrapers and luxury shopping malls, it's also a melting pot where Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous cultures meet.

Just a short trip from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur is the best weekend getaway. In under an hour, you can be in the heart of KL, enjoying skyscrapers, top attractions, and of course, delicious food!

Getting to and getting around Kuala Lumpur

Petronas Twin Towers

Getting to Kuala Lumpur

Now that you’re excited to explore the best of Kuala Lumpur, let’s take a look at how to get to KL from Singapore and how to get around the city. Kuala Lumpur is just a hop, skip, and jump away from Singapore!

There are two main airports in KL - Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) & Subang International Airport. Most travellers will likely arrive at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. From there, you can take the KLIA Ekspres or KLIA Transit trains to downtown Kuala Lumpur in 30 minutes. Many hotels also offer convenient airport shuttle services to head straight to your accommodation. It's also a good choice!

Hotel NameLocationDistance from KUL Airport Shuttle
Movenpick Hotel & Convention Centre KLIAKompleks TH Sepang, Jalan Masjid KLIA, Sepang, Selangor 64000, Malaysia7.4kmAirport shuttle pick-up and drop-off for free (at least 1 day in advance to make a reservation)
Ibis Styles Sepang KLIAJalan KLIA 1/60, Sepang, Selangor 43900, Malaysia4.0kmAirport shuttle pick-up and drop-off, shuttle bus service (please contact the hotel for more details)

If you prefer land travel, you can also take a bus or train, both of which offer budget-friendly options. Express buses run regularly and take around 5 to 6 hours to get to KL, with buses departing from various points in Singapore. Alternatively, trains run on the ETS line, taking about 6 hours and offering comfortable seating along the way.

If you prefer land travel, you can also take a bus. Express buses run regularly from Singapore and take approximately 5 to 6 hours to reach Kuala Lumpur. Buses depart from major terminals such as Golden Mile Complex and Queen Street Bus Terminal.

Getting around Kuala Lumpur

For getting around KL, KL's public transportation is commendable with MRTs, LRTs, and taxis available at your convenience.

  • LRT & MRT: The LRT (Light Rail Transit) and MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) are two of the most convenient ways to get around. Both cover major areas in the city, including Chinatown, Bukit Bintang, and KLCC. The price starts from MYR1. You can also use a Touch 'n Go card for easy access.
  • KL Monorail: This is another great option, especially if you're heading to Bukit Bintang or Chinatown. It’s a fun way to see the city from above and.
  • Taxi: Traditional taxis are also available. Always make sure the driver uses the metre, or agree on a price before you start your journey. E-hailing on Grab is convenient, easy to use, and affordable.

Which part of Kuala Lumpur is best to stay in?

Petronas Twin Towers

After your arrival in KL, you’ll likely want to find a convenient place to stay. So choosing the right hotel in Kuala Lumpur is important. For proximity to attractions, consider hotels near the Petronas Towers. Chinatown (Petaling Street) offers a more cultural vibe with plenty of street food, markets, and proximity to the LRT. KL Sentral is great if you want to stay close to the main transport hub, where you’ll have easy connections to KLIA Ekspres and the LRT. If you prefer stating near the KL airport, it will be a good choice to catch the flights.

AAlexThis amazing hotel checked all the boxes!! I truly enjoyed my stay at Imperial Lexis. I have been to KL countless times and this one gave me another level of experience of the KL city view. Kudos to the service team, they are really a friendly and helpful bunch and took in all my request and even allow me for early check in. The hotel room quality exceeded my expectation and easily match many of the top international hotels. The location and view of the hotel room is unbeatable and breathtaking. The whole KLCC skyline is visible from my hotel rooms. Honestly, I am already planning for my next stay at this hotel. Great job team Lexis 👍❤️

WWilliam CWOExcellent Stay once again, The Ritz never failed to deliver. We had an amazing Valentines Day celebration and stay at the Ritz. The only thing I felt could have been improved was the Wi-Fi signal strength and speed. Our room 1715 manage to get between 1-3 bar intermittently and it caused a lot of disruption as there were no 4G/5G signal in our room. Also there were pest (cockroach) in the buffet area and we reported it. That was very disturbing and disgusting. It just shows how YTL manages their business and trey their guest.

MMTYWZI recently stayed at this hotel and had a mixed experience. I checked in together with a friend who is a member of their rewards program. I asked if we could have rooms on the same floor, but the staff at the front desk said no, explaining that my friend’s membership tier was higher—so we were given rooms on the 4th and 10th floors respectively. I accepted the reasoning and didn’t press further. I had also requested a late check-out, which was denied for me but granted to my friend until 4pm. Again, I understood that it was a perk of membership, so I was fine with that too. However, when I got to my room, I realized I had been given a queen bed instead of the king I had specifically booked. This was frustrating, especially because I sleep with my child and space is important. What made it worse was that the staff member didn’t mention this change at all during check-in. When I brought it up with another staff member later, even he was surprised and said I should’ve been informed if there was a change to my booking. To add to the confusion, when I returned later that day to ask for a late check-out again, a different staff member granted it to me until 2pm without any issue. It really made me wonder what the problem was with the first staff member I dealt with. As for the hotel itself—it was average. Nothing particularly stood out, but it wasn’t bad either. The location was not too bad, fairly convenient for getting around. Overall, the stay was okay, but the inconsistency in service and lack of communication during check-in left a sour impression.

MMJ BuBuTropicana The Residences offers a convenient stay in Kuala Lumpur, especially for those who want to be near Suria KLCC. The location is strategic, with just a 25-minute walk to Pavilion Bukit Jalil. Service is good, with a dedicated customer service number for requests like mineral water, and a RM200 deposit is required upon check-in. While the cleanliness is acceptable, the biggest downside is that the swimming pool is currently under repair. On the bright side, a free washing machine is available for guests, adding extra convenience to the stay.

MMuhammad Haziq Aiman Abu BakarThis hotel very very very good and nice in my opinion, they got 2 in 1 washing machine and dryer, bathroom spacious and very good in term of everything, they also got small kitchen that I can optionally cook, the refrigerator is huge! The king bed and pillow very very good that you can sleep very well. Room quite dark because of lack of light but I like it. Its very feels like home. I not suggesting to have breakfast here because of very minimal choices but mee goreng for me delicious! Rooftops pool seems nice with the minimal view, you need proper attire according to guideline.
