Hotel near Pudu,Kuala Lumpur
"Went there with my family and they gave us a room which are smelly (like real bad) ( the smell of a room that haven’t been used for like years, not only that even the pillow got black spot / fungus. And yes, the ceiling room also got fungus. Then we tried to stay there, but we cant, cause the room smells really annoying. At that point i’m just afraid of my skin breaking out. Then we complained to the receptionist and even she got shocked to see the pillow condition. So she offered us another room, which were better. And yeah ofc we agreed. After moving to another room, around 12 in the midnight, WE WERE WOKEN UP TO THE SOUND OF THE GUEST NEXT DOOR ARGUING. THE COUPLES WERE SHOUTING AND SCREAMING TO EACH OTHER. So we tried to call the reception but no one answered. We almost wanted to call the police lol. Imagine having to hear them shouting in the middle of the night for like 15 minutes. So yeah those were our experience of staying at this hotel 😭🤣 Overall : ⭐️⭐️"

"This place is a great getaway for couples. They don't allow kids under 12, and in fact, maximum 2 people per room. The facilities include in-room jacuzzi (not sure if all rooms have this, but ours did!), very nice and natural swimming pool and gardens. They have a spa where we enjoyed a wonderful massage, a bit pricey, but well worth it. The restaurant and staff are incredibly nice and efficient, food was great. The room was very clean, and lots of amenities (tea, coffee, minibar, toiletries, lots of towels, etcetera). The overall facilities are well kept and clean, but some might think just a bit run down: there is a lot of wood, which is hard to maintain in good condition, but it was not a huge issue for us. As for the location, if you are going to KL to shop, this may not be the place for you: it is just a bit off the beaten track. However, there is an LRT station (Ampang Park) about a 15-minute walk or 5-minute drive from the hotel. But close to the hotel, there is not much in the way of shops or restaurants. For our 3-day getaway, it was perfect, and we would certainly do it again."

"Was very excited when i booked this hotel, afterall it is Banyan Tree that we are talking about, and most importantly, it did not come cheap, so we thought the service would be exceptional. When we first arrived, the friendly porters helped us with our bags, as the front desk was up at the 53rd floor. The front desk guy who served us was very friendly as well. When we asked for a non-corner room, he told us it was not a corner room. But when we went up, it was a corner room. Upon entering the room, there was a very strong smell that lingered in the room and smelled like a room that was cleaned using a dirty mop. After calling the operator to inform about the situation, they did not come right away even after saying they would (this is my first encounter because usually other hotels have the practice of turning up right away when i called). We waited for a long time before we called again. But we had to wait again and decided to leave to inform the front desk of this situation before we went out for our activities. On the night itself, we requested for 2 extra pillows. The staff did not come even after 15-20 mins and so we had to call again and again (even though they said they would). The next morning, we had their breakfast. It was pleasant, but i would say the selections were not that widespread. However, the staff in the restarant were very proactive and friendly. Requested for late check out but the to 12.30pm. All in all, the waiting time for housekeeping was very slow. Sad to say, this hotel did not leave me a very good impression, and rather average, given the price we paid."

"We are two families of 7pax going for a weekend overnight outing. We checked in an Airbnb with 4.95 rating and to our horror the place smells like sewerage, human waste in toilet bowl, curtain falls of rail, stained bedsheet etc all the horrible things you can think of. It was a nightmare, definitely not a 4.95 experience. We left the place in disgust and in the hurry to find new place to stay, by luck we found this gem online. Mind you we stayed in many of the 4-5* hotels in the kl golden triangle area and i don’t know why we never thought of Ascott KL even though we frequent Ascott Penang. The other hotels were good, but for the size of my company, this place is perfect! Some may say the design is from the last season, but we don’t mind it at all. Its clean, has great facilities, spacious, absent from foul odour even in the toilet. That’s all we ask for! Shoutout to the team especially Ms Shahira who listens to our story sympathetically and went above and beyond to turn our disastrous day back into an enjoyable one. We’d probably return soon!"

"I had a marvellous stay at KLoé Hotel. The team was incredibly thoughtful in every detail of their services. From the nostalgic local snacks to the luxurious Aesop bath products, everything was curated with care. The room was spotlessly clean, cozy, and creatively designed. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the entire experience felt well worth the price. All the staffs were so friendly especially Vinetha and the team. I was touched by how she explained to me all the details. I truly loved my stay. I would definitely return and recommend it to all my friends."

"The room itself is not that bad. But we found so many issues. 1. Bed side light is broken 2. Ordered in room dining service but it take almost 1 hour and a half for the food to arrive. 3. Huge issues with the toilet. The shower cubicle door was stuck by the time we arrived & we had to wait for the maintenance guy to fix. 4. The toilet bowl flush was broken. After the maintenance guy fixed the flush, the toilet bowl kept emitting annoying sound for the whole night! We beared with it as we only stayed for 1 night. 5. The hotel condition seems to be quite old. There were some holes on the toilet wall. Will never come back here again."

Explore Kuala Lumpur: Transportation, Attractions, Food & More

As the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur sits at the heart of Malaysia, both geographically and culturally. The name "Kuala Lumpur" actually translates to "Muddy Confluence" in Malay, referring to the spot where the Klang and Gombak rivers merge. There are more than just skyscrapers and luxury shopping malls, it's also a melting pot where Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous cultures meet.

Just a short trip from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur is the best weekend getaway. In under an hour, you can be in the heart of KL, enjoying skyscrapers, top attractions, and of course, delicious food!

Getting to and getting around Kuala Lumpur

Petronas Twin Towers

Getting to Kuala Lumpur

Now that you’re excited to explore the best of Kuala Lumpur, let’s take a look at how to get to KL from Singapore and how to get around the city. Kuala Lumpur is just a hop, skip, and jump away from Singapore!

There are two main airports in KL - Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) & Subang International Airport. Most travellers will likely arrive at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. From there, you can take the KLIA Ekspres or KLIA Transit trains to downtown Kuala Lumpur in 30 minutes. Many hotels also offer convenient airport shuttle services to head straight to your accommodation. It's also a good choice!

Hotel NameLocationDistance from KUL Airport Shuttle
Movenpick Hotel & Convention Centre KLIAKompleks TH Sepang, Jalan Masjid KLIA, Sepang, Selangor 64000, Malaysia7.4kmAirport shuttle pick-up and drop-off for free (at least 1 day in advance to make a reservation)
Ibis Styles Sepang KLIAJalan KLIA 1/60, Sepang, Selangor 43900, Malaysia4.0kmAirport shuttle pick-up and drop-off, shuttle bus service (please contact the hotel for more details)

If you prefer land travel, you can also take a bus or train, both of which offer budget-friendly options. Express buses run regularly and take around 5 to 6 hours to get to KL, with buses departing from various points in Singapore. Alternatively, trains run on the ETS line, taking about 6 hours and offering comfortable seating along the way.

If you prefer land travel, you can also take a bus. Express buses run regularly from Singapore and take approximately 5 to 6 hours to reach Kuala Lumpur. Buses depart from major terminals such as Golden Mile Complex and Queen Street Bus Terminal.

Getting around Kuala Lumpur

For getting around KL, KL's public transportation is commendable with MRTs, LRTs, and taxis available at your convenience.

  • LRT & MRT: The LRT (Light Rail Transit) and MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) are two of the most convenient ways to get around. Both cover major areas in the city, including Chinatown, Bukit Bintang, and KLCC. The price starts from MYR1. You can also use a Touch 'n Go card for easy access.
  • KL Monorail: This is another great option, especially if you're heading to Bukit Bintang or Chinatown. It’s a fun way to see the city from above and.
  • Taxi: Traditional taxis are also available. Always make sure the driver uses the metre, or agree on a price before you start your journey. E-hailing on Grab is convenient, easy to use, and affordable.

Which part of Kuala Lumpur is best to stay in?

Petronas Twin Towers

After your arrival in KL, you’ll likely want to find a convenient place to stay. So choosing the right hotel in Kuala Lumpur is important. For proximity to attractions, consider hotels near the Petronas Towers. Chinatown (Petaling Street) offers a more cultural vibe with plenty of street food, markets, and proximity to the LRT. KL Sentral is great if you want to stay close to the main transport hub, where you’ll have easy connections to KLIA Ekspres and the LRT. If you prefer stating near the KL airport, it will be a good choice to catch the flights.

FFamily RA hotel with exquisite and opulent décor and designs, as well as incredibly cosy accommodations and first-rate standards. Additionally, the welcoming staff all delivered excellent service. If I may, though, I must say that the breakfast buffet's limited and underwhelming selection of food caught me a little off guard. Fruit juices and nasi lemak's seafood sambal, on the other hand, were excellent! Also, in order for hotel guests to make the most of the gym, I sincerely hope that the hotel will be able to install more machines and equipments.

(Don) from the bar was also very welcoming to us. Ensured that our needs was well taken care of. (Syariff) from the thyme restaurant really bothered to ensure that guests were seated quicky during rush hour breakfast even checking on all tables that everything is nothing short of spectacular. (Hani) from room service also made sure our rooms were of high standards throughout our stay. BbennygcsNormally book this for overseas colleague to stay for a short period. Close to KL Sentral convenient for travelling. Place is neat and tidy and good price. Only issue is the lift is only 4 serving over 50+ floors which can be a long wait during peak period and there's no public parking available if your room doesn't come with parking. The room looks exactly like the photos just that the agency has multiple unit at the place you won't know which unit you get but it's close enough. Suggest to provide drinking water to guest as value add in future.

MMJ BuBuTropicana The Residences offers a convenient stay in Kuala Lumpur, especially for those who want to be near Suria KLCC. The location is strategic, with just a 25-minute walk to Pavilion Bukit Jalil. Service is good, with a dedicated customer service number for requests like mineral water, and a RM200 deposit is required upon check-in. While the cleanliness is acceptable, the biggest downside is that the swimming pool is currently under repair. On the bright side, a free washing machine is available for guests, adding extra convenience to the stay.

JJ$SMy stay was marred by significant service shortcomings, primarily involving Front Office staff member Mr. Saiful during check in around midnight. Despite having a confirmed booking for a queen size bed room, Mr. Saiful(as shown my pic) insisted no such rooms were available and pressured me to accept a 2 single bed room instead. After I firmly declined, he reluctantly provided the room category I had originally booked. This raised concerns about transparency, as I later observed multiple guests checking in and confirming they had received queen osize bed rooms per their bookings. This inconsistency suggests either poor inventory management or deliberate dishonesty, which is unacceptable. A separate issue involved valet parking attendants: They repeatedly claimed the self parking lot was ”full,” seemingly to monopolize parking and pressure guests into paid valet services. Multiple guests were observed being turned away from self parking under questionable pretenses. On a positive note, the room itself was clean and functionally adequate, meeting basic expectations for comfort and hygiene. Recommendation for Management: Retrain staff on ethical service practices, particularly regarding room allocations and honest communication. Audit parking procedures to prevent coercive tactics by valet attendants. The lack of integrity in these areas overshadowed an otherwise acceptable stay.

NNurizyani AzharHello! Thank you for the excellent service, especially the male receptionist—I can't recall his name, but he was very friendly and welcoming. I stayed for work purposes for four days, and it was comfortable. However, the parking area a bit small. As a woman who’s not used to driving, I found it a bit difficult to park in tight spaces. But I understand the location. Overall, it was comfortable, and I would recommend it to others. It’s within walking distance to the mall and MRT.
