"The hotel's facilities are excellent. The lobby is grand and elegant, and the rooms are spacious with good hygiene. The location is very convenient for tourists; it's only about a ten to twelve-minute walk to the Datong Ancient City direct shuttle bus stop. In the evenings, you can walk through the ancient city and past the Heyang Gate to reach the Sipaifang commercial food street, which is always bustling. Yungang Meigao Hotel
"Stayed at the Megao Hotel for four days, and overall it was a great experience. It's about 2 kilometers from the South City Wall, quite central. The hotel's decor is a bit dated, but the staff's enthusiasm more than makes up for it. The front desk was always helpful with any issues. Housekeepers Liu Rihong and Liu Dan were also very warm and accommodating. Definitely a good review!"
Rui Feng Hotel
"Staying at Ruifeng Tower was definitely the best decision for our Datong trip! The hotel is located right in the heart of the ancient city, within walking distance of attractions like Huayan Temple and Shanhua Temple, making it super convenient. The rooms have an antique charm, and when you open the window, you're greeted with the sight of traditional courtyards and intricate eaves. What truly delighted me were the books in the room. Reading them before bed, the glory of Pingcheng during the Northern Wei Dynasty and the prosperity of the Liao and Jin secondary capitals came alive on the pages, adding a wonderful cultural depth to our journey. The breakfast buffet was abundant, and the staff were warm and professional. Next time I'm in Datong, I'll definitely choose Ruifeng Tower again, to immerse myself in the unique charm of this ancient capital amidst its scholarly ambiance and historic beauty!"
SUMMORI HOTEL
"Nianxia Li was the highlight of my summer trip to Datong, and a surprisingly delightful boutique resort hotel – a experience I hadn't had in a long time. Why did I love it so much? Because of its superb location in the contemporary art-filled Southeast Yi district; because of the meticulously crafted and maintained tree and vegetation landscape within its rustic courtyards; and most importantly, because of the people who work there – their sincerity, dedication, and impeccable yet comfortable service – these were the keys to my exceptional stay. On a sunny morning, reading or briefly working on your computer in the courtyard, the newly placed fragrant roses on your desk and the iced coffee served by the staff will refresh you. On a rainy afternoon, returning from your sightseeing, you can sit on a comfortable sofa and listen to the rain outside your window, while the staff will serve you hot Earl Grey tea, allowing you to fully enjoy this wonderful moment of vacation. In the evening, after a fulfilling trip to the bustling streets of Southeast Yi, as the courtyard gates close behind you, you can enjoy the tranquility of the courtyard and the charming night view under the moonlight, along with a delicious sweet soup already prepared in your room. What's particularly commendable is that not only does the landlady come to the lobby every afternoon to discuss details and feelings with guests, but every staff member I encountered here made me feel their enthusiasm for working here. The gentle, friendly, and detail-oriented Brother Xi, Sister Long, and Sister Guo, who served my room, are all very lovely and welcoming people. Our stay coincided with peak season, and the hotel was fully booked every day. However, guests from all over the world tacitly maintained a tranquil atmosphere in the courtyard. We hope everyone thoroughly enjoyed their vacation at Nianxia Li!"
Datong Dongxin Square IntercityHotel
"No matter how hard you try to find fault, believe me, you won't find a single one! 😄🙏 Thank you to all the staff at City Hotel for your excellent service. Mr. and Mrs. Tan from Singapore, June 10-14, 2026."
Datong Hotel
"Datong Hotel is located south of Datong Ancient City. It's about a 30-minute walk to the ancient city, so a shared bike would be more convenient. The hotel has two buildings; the Welcome Building has older facilities, while the VIP Building is better. The breakfast spread is very rich, offering many local Datong delicacies. The lamb offal noodle soup, in particular, is very authentic and just as good as what you'd find outside."
Gaodu Boutique Hotel
"very good"
Datong Grand Hotel
"We booked this hotel for the bath but the bath was too dirty and we couldn't use it. There was no fridge. The shower was also very dirty. Overall everything looked very old and used.the sofa was also too dirty, impossible to sit on it. The carpet was also dirty. We took a non-smoking room but it smelled cigarette in the bathroom. I think this hotel has a huge potential but it needs to be renovated. The bed sheets were clean but it doesn't value the price paid for the room. There was a large variety of options for the breakfast but nothing outstanding."
Floral Lux · Yingyueting (Datong Ancient City)
"The most surprising place to stay in Datong - flower building luxury moon courtyard. Ancient building style courtyard, one step at a time, the yard under the dusk is particularly gentle. The room is full of sanitary details, complete facilities, and full of living comfort. The housekeeper is very intimate and takes the initiative to introduce the ancient city tour route and local food. It can not only quietly avoid the world and drink tea and empty, but also integrate into the ancient city fireworks for a while. It is both ancient charm and modern comfort. It is suitable for short trips or small stays. It is sincerely recommended."
Xi Yue Hotel
"The hotel facilities are relatively new, and the environment is very nice."
Da Tong Weidu International Hotel
"Initially, I was given a windowless room which was a very old king-sized room. All the buttons on the headboard were broken, and there was only one side with a charging port. It was also very noisy as it was close to the elevator. The shower drain had some issues as well. After I gave feedback, they changed me to a windowless tatami room, which was generally okay. However, there weren't enough tissues, and the toilet paper ran out too quickly. The hotel is about a two-kilometer walk from the ancient city. The value for money is just so-so. No one reminded us about the late-night congee service either."
Lihao International Hotel
"The hotel was new and the rooms were clean, but the service was terrible! We arrived at the front desk at night, and there were three or four staff members standing there laughing and joking. After I showed my ID, they told me that someone had already checked me in?! It turned out that after a long discussion, they realized it was because a man with the same name as me had booked the same room type, and they gave him the room I had booked in advance (I had noted that I didn't want the last room and wanted it away from the elevator)?! Such a big hotel?! Don't they even check the information when registering guests? The phone numbers are different, and the genders are different too?! While I was standing at the front desk late at night waiting for them to resolve the issue, the receptionist kept yelling about what to do about the man's booking?! Where was I supposed to stand?! She didn't even apologize, and she was yelling at me about the wrong booking!! Am I supposed to fix her problem? Is this how you train your staff for such a big hotel? And this is supposed to be number one on the luxury list? Is this the level of service you're providing? Don't tell me it's because there are too many guests during the Chinese New Year. If you're so busy during the holidays, how could you make a mistake checking guest information? After making me stand for at least ten minutes, they finally gave me a room. They even gave me a last-minute room near the elevator! When I saw this, I called the front desk, and they said, "Oh, all the rooms you booked are last-minute rooms?" Why didn't you write on the booking page that all City View Suites are last-minute rooms? It felt like the staff didn't know what they were doing; the service was completely disproportionate to the hotel's quality! Oh, and by the way, the laundry room was closed during the New Year period, and they didn't mention this at all when I messaged customer service during booking. 😃 The score is for cleanliness and hotel infrastructure; service is zero."
Garden Hotel
"The location is fantastic! Turn left out of the hotel and you're right at the Drum Tower, and Huayan Temple is just a short walk away. In the evening, I grabbed a number at the nearby Longjuxiang restaurant, then came back to the hotel to relax. I only headed back over when it was almost our turn, about half an hour later. The Chinese restaurant here is also delicious; the braised pork belly exceeded my expectations. The hotel's garden is highly regarded by locals too. Overall, I'm very satisfied."
JIANGUO PALACE Datong Pingcheng Hotel
Moshang Light Luxury Hotel (Datong Ancient City Huayan Temple Branch)
"Stepping into the room, I was instantly wowed by the seamless blend of technology and aesthetic design! The in-room smart voice control was incredibly responsive. The bedding felt like sleeping on clouds, and the separate wet/dry bathroom design was absolutely perfect. Every detail exuded a light luxury vibe; staying here felt like a top-tier reward for both body and mind~ 🌟 The location is super convenient, close to everything. It was easy to get to popular foodie spots and explore the ancient city's attractions. The hotel service was also excellent; they helped with luggage storage, and there was even traditional clothing available for a fun experience!"
Four Seasons Holiday Hotel (Datong Yungang Road)
"The room was spacious, quiet, clean, and bright, with comfortable bedding and a beautiful environment. The front desk service was warm and attentive. Furthermore, the location was perfect! Situated between the ancient city and the Yungang Grottoes, it's close to everything. There are many bus lines right outside, and taxis are readily available, making it the ideal accommodation for exploring Datong. A perfect experience! This hotel combines excellent location with a high-quality accommodation experience, making it a perfect choice for visiting Datong. It's a very cost-effective hotel and highly recommended! Holiday Inn Express DATONG PINGCHENG by IHG
"First time staying at a Holiday Inn Express, and it exceeded my expectations. The hotel's style and environment were very comfortable, and the breakfast buffet was rich and exquisite. A really great stay."
