Datong Jixiashan · SUNYATA Resort Hotel
"Fantastic stay. The hotel's architecture and interior were the perfect match for its historic location. My friend and I enjoyed every moment at Sunyata and were treated with such kindness by all staff. Can't wait to go back one day."
Renyi Inn
"Ive just left the Inn and on the train to the next destination. I wish I could stay longer as this was such a pleasant stay. The boss lady was so nice. I booked just a basic room but got upgraded to almost a studio flat with separate bedroom in the mezzanine and lounge downstairs. Everytime I come back from sightseeing, all hot tired, the boss lady gave me a bowl of delicious melons. It was sweet and juicy. The best melons I have had. The second time she also gave me bananas. It was so much needed. The hotel is in the perfect location. Thank you for a wonderful stay. 1. From Datongnan station there are buses 608 or 61 which takes you directly to Huayansi stop, less than 1min from the hotel. However, the hotel frontage is a jewelry shop, I didn't know so ended up walking up/down the street for 10mins before the boss lady realised and came out to tell me I have arrived. 2. If you want to go to Yungang Grottoes. From the same bus stop take bus 38, then change to bus 3 to get to the Grottoes. Journey time about an hour in total. And cost 4RMB (2RMB per bus). However, you have to set up some kind of public travel app from Wechat to get the QR code to pay the bus fare. I didn't know this. Fortunately, some nice people helped pay my fare, then another lovely girl helped set up the app enabling me to use the bus from then as when I arrived and took the bus from the train station to hotel Wechatpay didn't work. Fortunately the driver let me ride for free as I guess he realised Im foreign and don't have this app. Only when I took the bus to Yungang Grottoes, the girl told me I need to set up the travel app etc and helped me set it up. 3. The hotel is also right opposite to the Huayan temple. A beautiful ancient temple. Deffo can't be missed. I will be uploading more photos and videos of my stay in Datong and travels in China on my YouTube channels once I'm back in UK. Check out my YouTube channels TheTravelDiary and goody2shoos for more information. Happy travels."

Datong Onetwo Hotel(Datong ancient city Daiwangfu shop)
"Our family of four spent one night in Datong to break our week in Beijing, and this hotel was such a breath of fresh air from our more "utilitarian" hotel in the capital. We stayed in the Lushun room. It was modern, clean, airy, and had good room temperature control despite being the shoulder season. Highly recommended if staying there with kids, as they can have their own separate area and parents can truly relax. We didn't try breakfast, though, as it's a 10-minute walk away, and we just wanted to rest in the morning. We just ordered food in."
Meijing Hotel
"Walking distance to the old town. A nice park with a good jogging track along a river just nearby. Easy to get food nearby."
Dadan Hotel
"The hotel was clean, cozy and comfortable, thank you! Very good service by the staff as well, who were friendly, responsive and helpful."
Yunzhong Chaoran Pavilion (Huayan Temple Branch, Datong Ancient Town)
"A fantastic hotel in the Ancient City. A little hard to find but everyone was really helpful. Easy access to all attractions. Manageress was great."
Longxuan Residence Light Luxury Elegant Accommodation
"Here is a breakdown of what makes this residence a notable choice in Datong: 1. Location & Atmosphere • Prime Setting: It is situated in the Bolan Wulong Lane community, specifically near the Wuding Gate of the Ancient City. • Convenience: It is within walking distance of major historical sites like Huayan Temple, the Nine Dragon Wall, and the Ancient City Walls. • Design: The property was designed by a well-known domestic architect. It features a traditional Chinese courtyard layout that provides a quiet, serene escape from the city bustle. 2. "Light Luxury" Amenities The "light luxury" (轻奢) label comes from its high-end interior hardware, which stands out among local boutique hotels: • Sleep & Tech: Rooms are equipped with Mousse bedding, solid black walnut furniture, and smart home features like XGIMI (Jimmy) projectors. • Bath & Grooming: You’ll find Kohler sanitary ware, Dyson hair dryers, and 3M soft water filtration systems for the entire house. • Appliances: Rooms often include Westinghouse refrigerators and high-quality tea-making facilities. 3. Guest Experience • Smart Features: Most rooms are integrated with whole-house smart controls (lighting, climate, and entertainment). • Personalized Service: Reviewers frequently praise the "butler-style" service, which includes custom-prepared breakfasts and helpful local travel advice. • Room Variety: Options range from 23 m^2 tatami rooms to 580 m^2 deluxe courtyard villas for large groups. The bathroom was very small and a little bit smelly but overall we had a good time here and the price was more than reasonable"

Da Tong Weidu International Hotel
"After a minor inconvenience they upgraded our room. The staff were friendly and helpful even though we don't speak Chinese they made sure we were comfortable. Thank you"
BAILI Designer Homestay
"The overall design is exquisite. The underfloor heating in the room was comfortable, and I loved the scent of the Le Labo toiletries. The bedding was high-quality, ensuring a great night's sleep. Breakfast was delicious, and the location was convenient."
SUMMORI HOTEL
"The environment is great and very comfortable. Even though the ancient city was packed during the May Day holiday, this place felt like a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle. After exploring, it was so relaxing to come back to the courtyard. The butler service was excellent too. The courtyard's location is perfect, making it easy to get anywhere. The butler mentioned they developed the Southeast Yiborough, and it's definitely worth checking out – every shop there has its own unique charm. The only minor issue was the breakfast; while it looked lovely and was beautifully presented, it wasn't very tasty. The asparagus wasn't blanched, which made it taste a bit odd. I'd still stay here again if I come back to Datong."
PINGCHENGFUHOTEL
"Great location in the (new) old town of Datong! It’s a wonderful hotel, made with much love and a perfect service. We can fully recommend it and will for sure come again for our next trip 😊"

The hot springs are clear and the temperature is just right, creating a relaxing and pleasurable soak. Furthermore, the hotel's service is exceptionally attentive, with the staff being friendly and attentive to guests' needs."
Datong Yunzhong Banshan Hotel
"The place with beauty is that there is a road construction that needs to be around. The boss is very caring to take in a lot of stray dogs. This offsets the twists and turns of the road. The food is also delicious. 😋 Pet Friendly B&B"
Datong Yungang Hotel

"The room was spacious and spotlessly clean! The breakfast offered a good variety, including Shanxi specialties like knife-cut noodles and cold noodles. Plus, there's a Fenglincourt branch restaurant right on the first floor of the hotel, which makes dining very convenient. It's also super close to the ancient city."

"This hotel offers a fantastic overall experience. The service is thoughtful and attentive, and the staff are incredibly warm and welcoming. The room was spotlessly clean, very spacious, and well-equipped. They even have a kids' play area! There's a great selection of snacks, a coffee machine, and a rich variety of breakfast options, including the delicious Datong-style knife-cut noodles and lamb offal soup, which were highlights. The location is also excellent, making travel and getting around incredibly convenient. My stay was comfortable and hassle-free. I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I visit."

JinHuangQi Homestay (Huayan Temple in Datong Ancient City)
"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Highly recommend! This is an incredibly stylish private hot spring siheyuan (quadrangle courtyard) guesthouse in Datong Ancient City – the Jinhuangqi Private Hot Spring Healing Guesthouse. The location is right within the ancient city, offering a quiet escape amidst the bustling area, making it very convenient for sightseeing. As soon as you step into the courtyard, you're greeted by a Chinese Zen garden, perfect for photos. The rooms are clean and elegant, with comfortable bedding. The highlight is the private hot spring, offering excellent privacy, and the water temperature is just right. After a soak, you feel completely relaxed and de-stressed. The service is also very thoughtful; the housekeeper is warm, attentive, and always ready to help. The scrubbing and massage treatments were both excellent, with professional techniques. The overall atmosphere is quiet and healing. It's definitely worth staying here when visiting Datong. I'll be back again next time, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone!"
Yu'an Jing Hotel
"The hotel, which was newly built this year, was recommended by Ctrip based on my preferences. It was labeled as a "healing hotel," and it was indeed comfortable and cozy. Not only was it comfortable, but the breakfast also had a wide variety of options, and the environment was clean and cozy!"
I Lai Hotel
"Fantastic Datong Stay! This hotel was a gem! From the start, the experience was warm, kicking off with complimentary noodles and coffee—a lovely welcome treat. The staff is exceptional. Even without speaking Chinese, their warm attention was constant. A huge thank you to Rachel and her colleagues! They were an absolute A-Plus for English speakers and flawlessly handled booking my local bus to the Xuankong Temple and Yungang Grottoes. Truly lifesavers! The location is perfect, being just minutes away and easily walkable to both Datong Old Town and the magnificent City Walls. For convenience, there are plenty of local restaurants and a handy convenience store right nearby. The room itself was spacious, spotlessly clean, and refreshingly smoke-free, and the bed was very comfortable. It was great that we could slightly open the window to manage the heat and humidity. (Just a small note: I do prefer a standard showerhead to the rain shower, but that's minor!)"
Hidden hotel
