SShalinda WThis homestay (B&B) was Amazing! Coming from the US, and not being able to speak Chinese, we just planned to not take advantage of any hotel transportation. This hotel reached out to us via chat on Trip and coordinated pick-up a couple days prior, allowing us to use translation apps. Our train arrived several hours before scheduled check-in for the hotel, wasn’t an issue at all. Check-in was quick and we received some local goodies as well as a fruit basket. Amenities for the room are amazing, room itself is fully electronic and state of the art. The blow dryer was Dyson! We planned to walk to lunch, they kindly gave us a free ride. Breakfast was great as well with some local specialities (all fresh, not a buffet). This homestay was so welcoming and amazing, it made us sad we had only planned one night in Datong!

GGuest UserThis B&B is incredibly popular! It has five-star decor, five-star service, and four-star pricing. The location is fantastic, next to the Four Archways, across from the Dai Palace, and a seven- to eight-minute walk from Huayan Temple. Two excellent noodle shops are just outside the door, and the B&B has a breakfast contract with them, offering a variety of set menus. For us southerners, the portions are plentiful and we can't finish them all. The B&B has a small courtyard where you can sit and sip tea or write, which is quite comfortable. The housekeepers were very attentive and even helped us check out late when we left. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Datong and highly recommend it to friends. The only downside is that the smart speaker is a bit annoying, and I became the target of teasing from my children. I also recommend that the laundry room be equipped with disinfectant.

GGuest UserWe took a 23-day trip through China, staying in 9 different hotels. Without hesitation, I can say that our stay at Floral stood out in many ways. First, the hotel's structure is very beautiful and has been renovated while staying true to the traditional style of the region. The hotel room itself was probably the most beautiful we had seen on our entire trip: spacious, with windows that actually opened, good air conditioning, and modern decor and furniture without being over the top. Second, the hotel's location is within the boundaries of the city wall and is part of the old town, so beautiful to walk around and see the traditional houses - many of them renovated according to the traditional style. And third and most importantly, the kindness of the people who work at the hotel. I have never felt so welcome anywhere on holiday as at this place. Unfortunately, I arrived with health problems and needed antibiotics - equivalents of the ones I had brought from Europe. I asked the reception where I could find the closest pharmacy, but rather than guiding me there, Xiao Liu, the lady at the reception, figured out for me which antibiotic would be the right one and got it for me. The same when we needed a suitcase, rather than sending me to the shop she inquired about our desired suitcase and in one hour it was there. Drinks are complementary at any time of the day, and the breakfast (Chinese and international - sandwiches) was generous and unlimited. When we were running late coming back from the grottoes and needed to catch a train, Xiao Liu helped us out by bringing us all our suitcases directly to the train station. We will never forget all these acts of kindness and we are still grateful to her and the entire hotel staff for making us feel so much at home. Datong will stay in our minds and hearts forever thanks to the people of the Floral hotel. Datong is special enough for all the incredible cultural sights you can visit - but our stay there will never be forgotten thanks to the beauty of the Floral Hotel and its amazing people. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

I had an incredible stay at Tangfang Courtyard in Datong, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. From the moment my girlfriend and I arrived, we were warmly welcomed by 刘 (Liu), who made us feel right at home. She was incredibly friendly and helpful, always available to assist with any questions we had throughout our stay—her hospitality truly elevated our experience.
The hotel itself is a charming blend of coziness and comfort. The rooms were spotless and well-maintained, with a wonderful atmosphere that made it easy to relax after a day of sightseeing. The entire property exudes warmth and character, offering a peaceful retreat in the heart of Datong.
One of the best aspects of the Tangfang Courtyard is its location. It’s perfectly situated for exploring the old city, with many attractions within walking distance. We enjoyed wandering through the narrow streets and discovering the rich history of the area.
Another highlight was the fresh breakfast offered each morning. It was a lovely way to start the day, with a variety of delicious options to choose from.
Overall, our stay was nothing short of fantastic, and I would highly recommend Tangfang Courtyard to anyone visiting Datong. The combination of excellent service, great location, and cozy ambiance made it a perfect choice for our trip.

KKatrin SauthoffMy husband and I are a couple from Germany. We booked two nights there, and our decision was absolutely the right one. From the initial contact (via the WeChat app, which is essential for your entire trip to China) to our departure, everything was perfect. We were picked up from the train station by car and taken to the hotel free of charge. This is especially good for Western tourists who don't speak Chinese. The first problem would have been explaining to the taxi where we wanted to go. The lobby and rooms are very beautiful, stylish, and equipped with the highest technology. Most of the guest rooms face the inner courtyard, so you can sleep very quietly and comfortably. The beds are very large and comfortable. The hotel's location is excellent. It's located on the northern edge of the Ancient City of Datong, just a few minutes' walk from the tourist attractions and the colorful and lively old town. So you can enjoy it without being disturbed by noise. I would especially like to emphasize the friendliness of the staff. Unfortunately, we don't speak Chinese, and the staff didn't speak English, but with the help of modern communication tools (language apps), we understood each other perfectly. Every request was fulfilled. There's even the option to use a washing machine in the basement of the hotel. This is especially fantastic for tourists on longer trips to China, as it allows for easy laundry. If you ever come back to China, we will definitely book this hotel again.

GGuest UserThe location is superb, right within the ancient city. For those driving, parking is available at the Nine Dragon Wall parking lot, just a 100-meter walk away. Despite being in a tourist area, it offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle. Guandi Temple is also conveniently located nearby. The service was excellent, and breakfast was quite good too. Both the owner and the staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. Although the May Day holiday prices were significantly higher than usual, the convenience made it completely worthwhile. Highly recommended!

Location:
- Nestled a quieter part of the ancient city, that provided a peaceful retreat after each day of exploring.
- 10 minutes to some of the attractions of the old town
- 15-20 minute walk to the popular restaurants and more attractions
- 30 minute walk to Huayan Temple and its nearby street markets.
I'm always happy to walk but if needed, I could always use DiDi to take me around.
Falling asleep without street noise is something I like. There is a bit of building work going nearby, which is happening all over Datong Ancient City, but nothing too major.
Nearby is the Ancient City's wall, but walk past that and you can see the locals dance in the morning in the park or walk along the canal/moat in the evening.
Room:
The room was surprisingly spacious, offering plenty of room to spread out and relax, a welcome change from cramped city accommodations. The staircase is a bit narrow, so those with lots of big luggage might struggle (no lift)
Importantly, it was very clean and well equipped. I especially liked the Chinese tea ceremony set!
Service:
- Despite a noticeable language barrier, everyone went above and beyond with smiles, helpful gestures, and clear efforts to communicate.
- Especially the manager, who told me about local food to try, things to do and asked if I needed anything. She noticed that I was bringing back leftovers from the restaurant, and bottled drinks from the shops, and said I could use the fridge.
- I can't speak Chinese so when the delivery driver came to drop off my order, the staff will take it from the reception and bring it to me.
- Unfortunately, breakfast isn't available here
- Drinking water topped up. Humidifier and mosquito repellent were provided when needed.
I will not hesitate to book here again on my next visit and I highly recommend this hotel for anyone seeking comfort and genuine warmth in Datong!

AAnonymous UserBecause I like big rooms, I booked a family room, and there are extra discounts for staying for three days. The hotel is on the 20th-21st floor of a building next to Datong Railway Station. Downstairs is the Aegean Shopping Park. The second underground floor is the hotel parking lot. You have to pay the parking fee in advance and the hotel will reimburse you later. The room decoration is simple, and towels, cups and other utensils are disposable. The sanitary conditions are good. The first room assigned was next to the laundry room and had a sewage odor, so we were quickly moved to another room. There is a Tonghe Hotel near the train station, which serves authentic Datong cuisine and is not expensive. There is a Fudao Noodle Restaurant on Wuding West Street, 300 meters away from the hotel, which serves breakfast at 6:30, and it tastes good.

GGuest UserThe location of the hotel is perfect. It is the right place to stay when visiting the Hanging Temple and Jin Temple. The room and bed are large, especially suitable for bringing children. It is no problem for a family of three to stay in a big bed. The bathroom is separated into dry and wet areas. The breakfast is also very good. Overall, it is very cost-effective.
