Hilton Garden Inn Datong

The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The hotel has its own parking, which made coming and going very convenient. The surrounding area is just okay; there's a noodle shop nearby for quick meals, but if you want something a bit nicer, you'll need to walk about 800 meters.

The hotel room was very clean, and the front desk service was incredibly warm and thoughtful. Ms. Gu Xiaorong saw that we were traveling with our whole family and a child, so she went out of her way to give us an extra breakfast, which made our trip to Datong feel so heartwarming! The underfloor heating in our room was constantly too hot, so I called the front desk, and a male staff member immediately moved us to a new room. We're so grateful! All in all, the Hilton Garden Inn's service is absolutely top-notch in every aspect!

Very good! I chose this hotel for my trip to Datong. The staff was very enthusiastic, the breakfast was delicious, and the room was also very clean.

The price was a bit high during the Chinese New Year, but the service was good, and there was plenty of parking, including an underground garage. The front desk staff were very attentive. The room had a convenient wet/dry separation, and there were daily welcome fruits. The fruit wasn't anything special, but it was packaged in a bag, which was handy for taking on the go in a tourist city. The only minor drawback was that the breakfast didn't change at all during our three-day stay. The butter was at room temperature, and at the live cooking station, the noodles were pre-cooked and just re-heated when someone ordered them. Plus, the person cooking the noodles had an impatient attitude towards everyone. However, considering the price, which would typically be around 200+ RMB on a normal day, these points are understandable. Overall, it was still quite good.

The room size was decent, and it was kept very clean. The soundproofing was also good. The hotel was very thoughtful, with the front desk offering heated bottled water. The restaurant staff were excellent, always greeting us with a smile. The hotel is also not far from the old town, making it very convenient to get a taxi.

I was looking forward to a great trip, but then I noticed dust on the power strip when I went to charge my phone, and then saw that the TV was also covered in dust. The cleanliness standards are really unacceptable, I'm speechless. I booked a hotel at this price point specifically for guaranteed hygiene and facilities, but I ended up being so disappointed.

(1) The air conditioning wasn't working at all. The room temperature was 27 degrees Celsius in the early hours of the morning (as shown in the picture, with time and location info preserved). Opening the window made it too noisy, and closing it made it too hot, making it impossible to sleep and causing me to wake up multiple times. When I contacted the front desk, they informed me that the central AC wasn't turned on for cooling and only offered unhelpful solutions like a humidifier, ice, or changing rooms (which still wouldn't have AC). (2) The non-smoking policy was barely enforced. Three guests started smoking right after getting off the elevator, and there was a strong smell of smoke all the way from the elevator to the hallway. The front desk staff seemed to completely ignore it. (3) I had originally booked for two nights but ended up checking out early that very night and leaving. (4) Even though I had selected the early check-in option (4 hours prior) when booking, the front desk staff told me at 3:30 PM that the room needed more time for cleaning. After some discussion, they eventually gave me a room, so I'm not sure what the situation was there.

1. The sink design is a bit impractical. For women of average height, you have to lean forward to reach the faucet and use the mirror. 2. The mirror lighting is only warm yellow, which isn't suitable for applying makeup. I suggest adding a cool white light source. 3. The hotel offers latex pillows, which is a nice touch. 4. The hotel's bath towels had a strange smell, like disinfectant but not quite. 5. No pajamas were provided. 6. Don't Hiltons usually have bathtubs? 7. I expected Hilton to provide Dyson hairdryers. The current hairdryer didn't quite meet my expectations, though the automatic hot and cold air alternating function is a plus.
