As the evening lights begin to shine, the grey brick walls of Datong Ancient City start to glow with a warm light, and the neon lights on Gulou East Street illuminate the millennia-old smoke and fire. Your journey's destination awaits in the lights of Pingcheng Hidden Architecture - choose a corner of the ancient city's heart, a secret place, and let your local life begin from the moment you check in. The smoke and fireworks, along with the poetic charm, beneath the ancient city roots Pushing open the red door of Southeast Town, one can feel the age-worn patterns on the brick walls. Strolling along Gulou East Street, one can see the "Datong Fenghua" archway outlined in gold against the night sky. The hotel is just a few steps away from the heart of the ancient city, where the glazed tiles of Chunyang Palace, the carved beams and painted rafters of Guandi Temple, and even the weathered crenels of the ancient city walls are all within easy reach. Visiting Gulou at night, one can see the three-tiered eaves swaying in the light, and hear the sound of bells and drums echoing through time. Occasionally, one may stumble upon a Qin Opera performance on the street, allowing the intangible cultural heritage tunes to lull one into a dreamland. The bustling radius of the Baisheng business district Tired of ancient charm? Turn the corner and you'll encounter the modern vitality of the Baisheng business district. Walk 10 minutes from the hotel, dive into the snack street for a bowl of copper pot lamb shabu shabu, take a bite of Gulou dumplings, or find a unique cultural and creative product from northern Shanxi in the shopping mall. Visit attractions during the day and explore the business district at night. Pingcheng Yinzhu will help you save the trouble of rushing around, leaving time for your passions. Butler-style service, local experience officer We are not just a place for accommodation, but also your guide to Datong: providing hand-drawn maps of the ancient city, off-the-beaten-track travel tips for attractions, and even helping you book tickets for Jin Opera and arrange for ancient costume photo shoots. In the morning, you will be woken up not by an alarm clock, but by the morning light shining through the archway outside your window; before going to bed, you can listen to the butler tell you stories about the city of "Datong and Ping", so that your dreams will be imbued with cultural fragrance. Stay in the ancient city night captured in the photo The Sudoku puzzle attached to the article depicts the daily scenery outside your window: the golden night view of Chunyang Palace, the neon archway on Gulou East Street, and the shadow of the character "Yi" on the Guandi Temple... No need to deliberately check in; just open the window and you'll see a vast view. When visiting Datong, don't let accommodation become just a transit stop on your journey. Choose Pingcheng Yinzhu, and let the bustling life and poetic charm of the ancient city, as well as the prosperity and convenience of the business district, become part of your everyday travel experience. Book now, and let our butler customize a slow-paced trip for you in the ancient city

"A truly satisfying stay! Highly recommended! This stay truly exceeded my expectations! From the moment I checked in, the front desk lady was warm and attentive, patiently answering my questions and truly caring. I was stunned the moment I opened the door to my room! It was spotless and bright, with simple, elegant decor. The bedding was soft and comfortable, and I slept soundly all night. The bathroom had separate wet and dry areas, and was fully stocked with amenities, including the fluffy bathrobes. A detail-conscious guest will be delighted! The service was incredible! The constant greetings and smiles made it feel like home, like home itself! The location is also fantastic, within walking distance of popular attractions. It's incredibly convenient, making it a perfect choice for both business and leisure travel! I'll definitely stay here again and recommend it to my friends."

GGuest UserThis is a very nice youth hostel. The double rooms have smart toilets and Mario-style decor. The beds in the 6- and 12-person rooms are spacious, and the rooms are fragrant, so even if you stay in a shared room, you don't have to worry about odors. There's a large screen in the lobby for watching projections with friends, and there are free esports, PlayStation, chess tables, and tons of board games to play, all for free! There's also free ice cream and mineral water in the lobby, and the disinfection cabinet is easily visible, so you don't have to worry about hygiene issues. Overall, this youth hostel is highly recommended. After staying for two days, I couldn't help but give it a good review. The owner is very kind and will do his best to meet any needs. It's only about a 10-minute drive from the ancient city. If you're visiting Datong, this youth hostel is worth considering! (The double room was a bit messy, so I won't show it. The entertainment room was locked when we left, so I didn't take a picture. It's inconvenient to disturb the shared room, so if you have any questions, please contact the owner.)

GGuest UserI was greeted with a fruit platter during check-in, which was a wonderful welcome gesture considering I left my home about 24 hours earlier, traveling non-stop from California to Datong, China. The Inn provides a wonderful experience for the first-time foreign visitor. The interior decor has that Chinese charm consisting of artwork, a book display, an aquarium with an auspicious collection of 8 large fishes (carp, I think), in-room tea set with an on-table electric stove, which would be unique to most Westerners. The glass flooring adds an extraordinary appeal since I have never experienced that in a hotel before, and I have traveled to dozens of countries. The Inn is well located, a short bus ride to Datong Railway Station (for non-high-speed rail travel)*, and a short taxi ride to Datong South Railway Station (for high-speed rail travel)**. It is just next to Datong City Wall. You can walk along the top of the City Wall at no cost. A 10-20 minute walk takes you to nearly all the attractions within the ancient City Wall. Here you will also find a variety of restaurants serving local food as well as souvenir shops. There is also a small shop that sells sundry items including drinks (beer included) within a 5-minute walk from the Inn. Across from this sundry shop, is a shop that specializes in ancient Chinese clothing (Hanfu dress). They can dress you up, cosmetics included. The Inn provides directions to Yujian Yun Gang - a popular destination for travelers to Datong. Here you will see ancient Buddhist cave art, including large and tall (several stories tall) sculptures. It takes two bus rides to get there, 1RMB per ride. My booking choice was for either a guest room on the 1st or 2nd floor but was assigned a wonderful 2nd-floor guest room. The owners of the Inn were exceptionally friendly. I met both the mother and her daughter. My room was professionally cleaned and provided with drinking bottled water daily. If I return to Datong in the future, I will certainly book a room at this Inn. *I took a train from this station to travel south to Xinzhou after checking out. **I arrived in Datong from Beijing Daxing International Airport

AAnonymous UserBecause I like big rooms, I booked a family room, and there are extra discounts for staying for three days. The hotel is on the 20th-21st floor of a building next to Datong Railway Station. Downstairs is the Aegean Shopping Park. The second underground floor is the hotel parking lot. You have to pay the parking fee in advance and the hotel will reimburse you later. The room decoration is simple, and towels, cups and other utensils are disposable. The sanitary conditions are good. The first room assigned was next to the laundry room and had a sewage odor, so we were quickly moved to another room. There is a Tonghe Hotel near the train station, which serves authentic Datong cuisine and is not expensive. There is a Fudao Noodle Restaurant on Wuding West Street, 300 meters away from the hotel, which serves breakfast at 6:30, and it tastes good.

黄善博The hotel was the priciest that we stayed at during our 45 days in China, though the beds, space, and bathroom were the nicest out of them all. For the price, I would’ve hoped that the staff would’ve been a bit more helpful—no elevator and many bags to carry up the three flights of stairs was really quite difficult. The staff also don’t speak any English at all, and my friend doesn’t speak any Chinese, and we didn’t really understand that you needed to put down a deposit of 100rmb that would then be refunded to you (or that they needed a Chinese phone number too; I didn’t have one, and as a foreigner traveling through China, if I had been by myself or didn’t know or have any Chinese friends with Chinese numbers, I would’ve been unable to check-in). The hotel was very nice nonetheless. Fantastic location, very close to everything. The walk to the old city wall took about an hour, and would’ve been a ten minute taxi ride. The street the hotel is located on is full of lots of local shops and restaurants, and feels very lively during the day. The staff was also very friendly and enjoyed speaking with the foreigner at the hotel (although I had some trouble understanding the Shanxi accent! Jin Chinese is not my strongest!). The WiFi was a bit slow. But the beds were incredible. Huge, clean, soft. Pillows were lovely. Bathroom was huge. Just wish there’d been a bit more service from the front desk. Was a tad weird to get up at 5:50am to go to the Hanging Temple 悬空寺, which is very normal, to see the woman at the front desk asleep… it was fine, but still a bit weird.

GGuest UserVery nice capsule hostel, location is good! It was clean and well organized. Just pitty that the owner doesnt speak english. It was hard to get the check in instructions when arriving. Because you have to call the owner for the doorcode and bed number etc. I just went to local McDonald’s and they answered the phone for me. They were luckily really helpful!

GGuest UserThis hotel is really really beautiful - maybe even more than the photos show. Even though the style is traditional, everything inside the room is new, and there's even an elevator to take up bags. The location is amazing too, inside the old city wall, and I walked everywhere except the out of town attractions I visited. I think anywhere you stay in Datong you might have some communication challenges if you don't speak Chinese, but the owner here was very helpful once I put wechat on my phone to be able to talk with translation help, and he was able to arrange a last minute taxi out to the hanging temple after I had given up trying to get one. However, even though he was very helpful, he wasn't always around, and checking in was a bit difficult because there was nobody at the desk. I think this is only a problem if you don't speak Chinese though. Unfortunately, the wifi didn't always reach to my room on the 3rd floor well, and I could only get a trickle of hot water out of the shower. Overall though, I was super happy with this place and would recommend it!
