GGuest UserA perfect stay! This guesthouse truly exudes warmth and hospitality. From the moment I booked and connected with our concierge via WeChat, to the lovely aunties in the kitchen, and every single staff member, the genuine kindness was palpable. The guesthouse is quite new, yet there was absolutely no hint of a renovation smell. The family room, with one large double bed and one small double bed, was very comfortable for our family of three. After a tiring day out exploring, it was wonderful to sink into the spacious bed for a truly refreshing night's sleep. Breakfasts were always abundant and featured delicious local specialties. Starting the day with such a satisfying meal meant we could explore until noon without feeling hungry, even if we hadn't found a suitable restaurant yet! A special thanks to the two aunties in the kitchen, who were incredibly warm and thoughtful; their cooking perfectly suited our family's taste. Xiao Cheng, our concierge, was a beautiful and lovely girl. She proactively met us in the underground garage to help with our luggage, assisted with check-in, and even brought us warm 'goodnight soup' in the evenings, besides recommending some excellent restaurants. There was also Xiao Dang (I apologize, I didn't quite catch who this staff member was), who sent us daily weather forecasts and reminded us to adjust our clothing. Another male staff member shared local culinary delights and insights into the local culture. He even escorted us to the underground garage when we were driving away (and a big thank you to another female staff member who was also there!). We truly felt a comforting, family-like warmth. Our trip to Datong was a last-minute decision, but it turned out to be incredibly memorable and joyful, thanks to the dedication and hard work of all the staff at this guesthouse. If we get the chance to visit Datong again with friends and family, we will definitely choose this place again! I wish you all continued success in your business!

BBianca LaiThe staff were so so friendly and super nice!!! Told them it was our honeymoon and there was a handwritten note with fruits and snacks waiting for us on the table. They didn't have to, but they did ☺️ when we left, we were rushing for the train and didn't have time to eat breakfast. The staff were so concerned we were skipping breakfast she quickly packed some food for us to go and even ran after us to pass us cutlery because she forgot to pack some.
Would recommend staying here 10/10!

1118942****On this trip, after leaving my job, I've stayed in many places, but Datong was the most surprising city. It's full of historical sites, delicious food, and a vibrant, down-to-earth atmosphere. But what surprised me even more was the guesthouse I chose. I did extensive research and ultimately decided to stay within the ancient city, which turned out to be incredibly convenient for dining, lodging, and getting around. It was fantastic and perfectly suited me.
Initially, I considered guesthouses in the Southeast District, but they were all new, and their styles were quite similar and unremarkable, much like guesthouses in other cities. So, I picked one with unique traditional Chinese characteristics, and it completely exceeded my expectations. The breakfast was exactly to my liking – nutritious and light. The room was warm and cozy, and the toiletry kit was amazing, with thoughtful items inside. Even though it's been in the ancient city for ten years, the decor and renovation show no sign of age; it's incredibly well-maintained. The housekeeper mentioned they had just upgraded all the rooms before my arrival, haha! 😄
This guesthouse truly helped my restless mind calm down. It felt like staying in a museum. The aunties and housekeepers working here told me stories about every single object and corner, which deeply moved me. This is what a guesthouse should be – unpretentious and full of stories. The biggest surprise this time was having the chance to meet the owner, a wonderful lady. She was so nice, I initially thought she was just another staff member; she had absolutely no airs. More importantly, her experiences and background are incredible – she does extreme sports and has even climbed Mount Everest! Talking with her made me feel so comfortable and helped me let go of a lot of things. Thank you for the encounter; it was truly destiny. This was the most unexpected gain from my trip to Datong, and I will definitely go back if I get the chance! It felt just like home, with no sense of unfamiliarity whatsoever.

TT.F. LaiWe had such a lovely stay in Datong! The hospitality here truly exceeded our expectations. The host was incredibly friendly, caring, and always ready to help with anything we needed. They even offered to do our laundry while we were out sightseeing, and folded everything neatly after it dried — such thoughtful service.
They also helped us order food and gave great recommendations, which made our trip so much easier. The room itself was surprisingly high tech, with a fun sound control system that made the stay even more enjoyable.
Although the room is on Level 2 with no lift, the host kindly carried our luggage up during check in and brought it down again when we checked out. Their helpfulness really made a difference.
Breakfast was lovely — nutritious, tasty, and just the right kind of start before heading out to explore.
Overall, we felt very welcomed and well taken care of. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Datong.

PPSOCWe were warmly greeted by friendly staff upon arrival, making us feel welcome right away. The check-in process was quick and smooth, and the team went the extra mile to help us register on their app as we are foreigners, ensuring we could easily access Wi-Fi and contact them if needed.
We had called ahead to request a humidifier and air purifier, and were pleased to find them already prepared in our room when we checked in. The room itself was spacious, impeccably clean, and very comfortable. The shower had excellent water pressure, and the inclusion of an electric toilet with a heated seat was a thoughtful touch, especially during the winter season.
Throughout our stay, every staff member we encountered was genuinely helpful and sincere in their service, always making sure we were well taken care of. We initially planned to stay from 6/12/24 to 8/12/24 but felt so at home that we decided to extend our stay for an additional two days.
A big thank you to the team at Mecure Hotel for their exceptional service and attention to detail. Me and my Husband had agreed this is best hotel in our 17 days China trip. We had a fantastic stay and look forward to returning in the future. Great job!

GGuest UserI've stayed at Jianguo Puyin hotels in several cities, and this one has the worst service. On my first night, I called to report that my toilet was clogged. They sent someone to unblock it, and I saw that person report it to engineering. The next day, I was out sightseeing, so I don't know if anyone came to fix it. By the third morning, the toilet was completely blocked, and water was leaking all over the bathroom floor. At this point, the front desk said they'd help me deal with it. I was literally about to check out! What's the point of fixing it then? So frustrating.

AAkanechongdianzhongThis stay would have been absolutely perfect if it weren't for the 3.5x price hike during Golden Week. Of course, setting aside peak tourist season and my own bad luck, I was genuinely thrilled with this hotel. First off, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We received a welcome gift upon arrival and a small souvenir when we checked out. They also offered coffee and a late-night snack service, and even included access to the 4th-floor gym (unfortunately, we had to leave too early on our last day to try it out). Basically, they thought of everything a guest might need.
The coffee shop on the ground floor has a really charming ambiance; I even saw a foreign guest enthusiastically typing away on their laptop, which really conveyed the comfortable atmosphere. The staff's recommendations for nearby shops and eateries also showed their love and pride for the local area. And indeed, turning right outside the hotel revealed a plethora of fruit and breakfast shops. Of course, if you're willing to venture to Sunji Baozi near Taiyangcheng, that's also a great option!
Back to the room: it was incredibly spacious and newly renovated! The pillows and mattress were firm enough for a very comfortable rest, and the bed was huge! The shower had a thoughtful curtain, the water pressure was strong, and the hairdryer was super powerful. I particularly loved the scent in the bathroom; it smelled very natural, not artificial at all! Could I buy some of that scent, by any chance?
The reusable slippers provided were excellent. The rubber sole design clearly considered the hotel environment – no wonder the packaging said you could take them if you liked them! I was genuinely tempted! The only minor flaw was the lack of a refrigerator in the room, perhaps because Datong's weather doesn't really require one…
In terms of location, it's right by the ancient city. It's walking distance to both the tourist shuttle and the ancient city itself, though it might be a bit much if you're tired and feel like taking a taxi. For dining, it's very close to several popular restaurants, though we didn't get to experience any during Golden Week. All in all, this is definitely a hotel I would recommend to friends!

GGuest UserStaying at Ruifeng Tower was definitely the best decision for our Datong trip! The hotel is located right in the heart of the ancient city, within walking distance of attractions like Huayan Temple and Shanhua Temple, making it super convenient. The rooms have an antique charm, and when you open the window, you're greeted with the sight of traditional courtyards and intricate eaves.
What truly delighted me were the books in the room. Reading them before bed, the glory of Pingcheng during the Northern Wei Dynasty and the prosperity of the Liao and Jin secondary capitals came alive on the pages, adding a wonderful cultural depth to our journey.
The breakfast buffet was abundant, and the staff were warm and professional. Next time I'm in Datong, I'll definitely choose Ruifeng Tower again, to immerse myself in the unique charm of this ancient capital amidst its scholarly ambiance and historic beauty!

The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, checking us in quickly and even upgrading us to the best available room. To our surprise, we were greeted with a thoughtful welcome that included a fresh fruit basket, traditional Chinese soup, and complimentary tea.
The hotel offers an impressive breakfast selection, catering to both local and international tastes. The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean, and the beds are incredibly comfortable—making it easy to unwind after a day of sightseeing.
This was my second time staying at the Great Palace Hotel, and once again, it exceeded expectations. Its location is ideal—right in the heart of the city, close to all major tourist attractions and just a few kilometers from the train station. Special thanks to Manager 崔经理, who was exceptionally kind and helpful throughout our stay. I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Datong.
