ZZhouwaiwai yyI've always loved staying in hotels, especially star-rated hotels, mostly Atour, because they're safe, clean, and reassuring, and the mattresses are comfortable. This was my first time staying at a famous B&B, and it completely changed my perception of B&Bs. This B&B always has a friendly and attentive front desk lady, and it really felt like home. The room was cozy, and the mattress and pillows were super comfortable. When you're out and about, having fun and being comfortable are the most important things. I highly recommend this B&B. It's incredibly cost-effective, and they even offer breakfast. The owner is so generous. I wanted to extend my stay, but it was full. I always have to leave some regrets. Next time I'm in Datong, I'll stay here again. Thank you for your care. I wish your business will prosper and the owner will be rich.

GGuest UserThe highlight of our trip was definitely our stay at this guesthouse. Every single detail was impeccably handled. The guesthouse was spotless and well-maintained. The customizable breakfast was delicious, creating such a cozy atmosphere that we almost didn't want to leave at all. And the location? Absolutely unbeatable! Situated right in the heart of the ancient town, it's a peaceful oasis amidst the lively surroundings. The owner was incredibly kind and welcoming. We will definitely be back!

GGuest UserIt was my first time in Datong and I spent a long time choosing a hotel. I finally chose Manxin Hotel. The experience was great. I made an appointment for the high-speed rail pick-up in advance, which was very punctual. The hotel environment was also very good. The front desk lobby was bar-style and very comfortable. All the service staff in the hotel were very good, very enthusiastic and thoughtful. The breakfast was also very rich and very good. I strongly recommend this Manxin Hotel to Datong. It's really great!

The location is very convenient. Get off at Gulou and walk a little inside Gulou East Street. It is very close to popular restaurants such as Zini and Longjuxiang.
The environment in the courtyard is superb. The owner said it will be more beautiful in summer.
The rooms are also decorated very interestingly. You can feel that the owner loves life and knows how to live.
I want to say that the things prepared in the room are really complete. In addition to cotton towels and regular toiletries, there are also underwear detergents and white shoes detergents. Even the toothbrushes are Crest, not ordinary disposable ones.
Overall, it is a great value and I would recommend it to my friends~

KKatrin SauthoffMy husband and I are a couple from Germany. We booked two nights there, and our decision was absolutely the right one. From the initial contact (via the WeChat app, which is essential for your entire trip to China) to our departure, everything was perfect. We were picked up from the train station by car and taken to the hotel free of charge. This is especially good for Western tourists who don't speak Chinese. The first problem would have been explaining to the taxi where we wanted to go. The lobby and rooms are very beautiful, stylish, and equipped with the highest technology. Most of the guest rooms face the inner courtyard, so you can sleep very quietly and comfortably. The beds are very large and comfortable. The hotel's location is excellent. It's located on the northern edge of the Ancient City of Datong, just a few minutes' walk from the tourist attractions and the colorful and lively old town. So you can enjoy it without being disturbed by noise. I would especially like to emphasize the friendliness of the staff. Unfortunately, we don't speak Chinese, and the staff didn't speak English, but with the help of modern communication tools (language apps), we understood each other perfectly. Every request was fulfilled. There's even the option to use a washing machine in the basement of the hotel. This is especially fantastic for tourists on longer trips to China, as it allows for easy laundry. If you ever come back to China, we will definitely book this hotel again.

MMethilanI spent nearly a week at Datong Milan/Magnolia Hotel (Dai Residence branch) and it was a very pleasant and enjoyable stay
Location:
- Nestled a quieter part of the ancient city, that provided a peaceful retreat after each day of exploring.
- 10 minutes to some of the attractions of the old town
- 15-20 minute walk to the popular restaurants and more attractions
- 30 minute walk to Huayan Temple and its nearby street markets.
I'm always happy to walk but if needed, I could always use DiDi to take me around.
Falling asleep without street noise is something I like. There is a bit of building work going nearby, which is happening all over Datong Ancient City, but nothing too major.
Nearby is the Ancient City's wall, but walk past that and you can see the locals dance in the morning in the park or walk along the canal/moat in the evening.
Room:
The room was surprisingly spacious, offering plenty of room to spread out and relax, a welcome change from cramped city accommodations. The staircase is a bit narrow, so those with lots of big luggage might struggle (no lift)
Importantly, it was very clean and well equipped. I especially liked the Chinese tea ceremony set!
Service:
- Despite a noticeable language barrier, everyone went above and beyond with smiles, helpful gestures, and clear efforts to communicate.
- Especially the manager, who told me about local food to try, things to do and asked if I needed anything. She noticed that I was bringing back leftovers from the restaurant, and bottled drinks from the shops, and said I could use the fridge.
- I can't speak Chinese so when the delivery driver came to drop off my order, the staff will take it from the reception and bring it to me.
- Unfortunately, breakfast isn't available here
- Drinking water topped up. Humidifier and mosquito repellent were provided when needed.
I will not hesitate to book here again on my next visit and I highly recommend this hotel for anyone seeking comfort and genuine warmth in Datong!

👏 Special praise to the pool attendant for helping to adjust the water temperature.
👎 Some minor issues • The shower drain was slow and the water barrier wasn't properly in place, causing water to overflow from the wet area to the dry area while showering. • The built-in light source in the curtain box wasn't properly guided, making it very glaring. Every time I leaned back on the sofa, the light from the light strip shone directly into my eyes, a very unpleasant experience.
These minor flaws don't detract from the overall experience; let's all strive for improvement.

Camphor wood, fragrant, helps sleep. You can see the owner's intentions from details such as smart toilets and toiletries.
