GGuest UserThe independent courtyard is located right within the ancient city. The owner has excellent taste, and the decor style is very design-oriented. You can drive directly into the underground parking right at the guesthouse entrance, which is very convenient.
The facilities are very new, and the design is unique. All the toiletries and consumables are from good brands, feeling very high-quality. The common areas are also really nice, perfect for tea and conversation.
The cleanliness is excellent; everything is checked very thoroughly each time.
The service from the owner is superb – very friendly and warm. They were attentive to all our needs, offering pick-up and drop-off service, and were always ready to help.
Overall, it's a fantastic choice within the ancient city. I made a last-minute booking the same day and managed to snag a room. Even though it was the smallest room type, I was quite satisfied with my stay. I'll definitely come back next time.

DDafeieThe room was great, and the underfloor heating kept it very warm. The courtyard (siheyuan) is absolutely beautiful. The underground parking was also very convenient. The service was excellent. I didn't use my car for two days, so leaving wasn't the smoothest. I had to rush to Yungang Grottoes and left before 7 AM, getting a bit delayed at the entrance. The parking fee was 100 RMB (even though there was a free parking voucher, it didn't link successfully), but the owner paid it for me. This is a very responsible establishment, and both the owner and the housekeeper are wonderful. The location is super convenient, and the breakfast is incredibly delicious. Many thanks!

The owner was very friendly and welcoming. They kindly picked us up at the railway station and helped us arrange a car rental to visit Xuankong Temple, Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, and the Yungang Grottoes.
The breakfast was also delicious and a great way to start the day.
Their hospitality and assistance made our trip much easier and more enjoyable.

GGuest UserWe took a 23-day trip through China, staying in 9 different hotels. Without hesitation, I can say that our stay at Floral stood out in many ways. First, the hotel's structure is very beautiful and has been renovated while staying true to the traditional style of the region. The hotel room itself was probably the most beautiful we had seen on our entire trip: spacious, with windows that actually opened, good air conditioning, and modern decor and furniture without being over the top. Second, the hotel's location is within the boundaries of the city wall and is part of the old town, so beautiful to walk around and see the traditional houses - many of them renovated according to the traditional style. And third and most importantly, the kindness of the people who work at the hotel. I have never felt so welcome anywhere on holiday as at this place. Unfortunately, I arrived with health problems and needed antibiotics - equivalents of the ones I had brought from Europe. I asked the reception where I could find the closest pharmacy, but rather than guiding me there, Xiao Liu, the lady at the reception, figured out for me which antibiotic would be the right one and got it for me. The same when we needed a suitcase, rather than sending me to the shop she inquired about our desired suitcase and in one hour it was there. Drinks are complementary at any time of the day, and the breakfast (Chinese and international - sandwiches) was generous and unlimited. When we were running late coming back from the grottoes and needed to catch a train, Xiao Liu helped us out by bringing us all our suitcases directly to the train station. We will never forget all these acts of kindness and we are still grateful to her and the entire hotel staff for making us feel so much at home. Datong will stay in our minds and hearts forever thanks to the people of the Floral hotel. Datong is special enough for all the incredible cultural sights you can visit - but our stay there will never be forgotten thanks to the beauty of the Floral Hotel and its amazing people. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

AAnonymous Uservery friendly and helpful staffs. they will ask for adding friend on Wechat which they could provide very useful tips during your stay in a hotel and travel advice around datong. you can ask for exchange small banknote for hopping on a local bus which is troublesome for foreigner that doesn't have chinese phone number to register for virtual bus card （易通卡）on alipay or wechat unlike in big city eg. Shanghai, Guangzhou that can use passport no. to register.
It would be nice if they provide some bathmat to rub wet feet after using the bathroom.
The hotel is located near the bell tower which is near Huayan temple and Dai wang mansion.

Guandi Temple's entrance is literally on your doorstep, and during the Spring Festival, performances are held on its east side. This makes exploring and dining out incredibly convenient. The independent courtyard offers a beautiful and tranquil environment, complemented by attentive and warm service. With breakfast included, I highly recommend this place for your stay.

GGuest UserThe location of the hotel is good, easy access from main road to get big bags to it and also to go around the ancient city both during day and night time to enjoy all the landmarks.
Missing signages make it a bit difficult to find the hotel at first. Also, while we had paid for a bigger rooms the room barely had walking space. It had no luggage storage space or cabinet. The washroom and room floor was not cleaned.
Staff on the other hand are very friendly and willing to help with all the questions - on local travel, places to see, vegetarian food, etc. They find a way to help to the best.
All in all was a good experience and would have been better with some adjustments.

MMethilanI spent nearly a week at Datong Milan/Magnolia Hotel (Dai Residence branch) and it was a very pleasant and enjoyable stay
Location:
- Nestled a quieter part of the ancient city, that provided a peaceful retreat after each day of exploring.
- 10 minutes to some of the attractions of the old town
- 15-20 minute walk to the popular restaurants and more attractions
- 30 minute walk to Huayan Temple and its nearby street markets.
I'm always happy to walk but if needed, I could always use DiDi to take me around.
Falling asleep without street noise is something I like. There is a bit of building work going nearby, which is happening all over Datong Ancient City, but nothing too major.
Nearby is the Ancient City's wall, but walk past that and you can see the locals dance in the morning in the park or walk along the canal/moat in the evening.
Room:
The room was surprisingly spacious, offering plenty of room to spread out and relax, a welcome change from cramped city accommodations. The staircase is a bit narrow, so those with lots of big luggage might struggle (no lift)
Importantly, it was very clean and well equipped. I especially liked the Chinese tea ceremony set!
Service:
- Despite a noticeable language barrier, everyone went above and beyond with smiles, helpful gestures, and clear efforts to communicate.
- Especially the manager, who told me about local food to try, things to do and asked if I needed anything. She noticed that I was bringing back leftovers from the restaurant, and bottled drinks from the shops, and said I could use the fridge.
- I can't speak Chinese so when the delivery driver came to drop off my order, the staff will take it from the reception and bring it to me.
- Unfortunately, breakfast isn't available here
- Drinking water topped up. Humidifier and mosquito repellent were provided when needed.
I will not hesitate to book here again on my next visit and I highly recommend this hotel for anyone seeking comfort and genuine warmth in Datong!

JJames56We had a happy experience checking in at this hotel. The receptionist was very pleasant and helpful. We loved our room! It was bright and cheerful and spacious. The shower and drainage was very good.
Location is fantastic, near the railway station and many bus services, especially for going to Yungang grottoes. There was a mall, with a hypermarket in the basement and minimarts around.
What we like most was there was a washing machine and dryer for guests to use, free of charge!
If we ever come to Datong again, we would stay here. Highly recommend this place!

GGuest UserWhen you come to Datong, stay at this hotel! The environment is really nice and the price is great. The front desk staff are super welcoming and attentive. The room prices are also very reasonable. The rooms are spacious, bright, and have great natural light. I had a comfortable stay more than once, and there was a real sense of community. Highly recommended!
