"This five-star rating is for Annie, the butler. Everyone says Trip.com offers the best service for booking rooms, so I booked through all three platforms, and indeed, Trip.com's booking service was the best. Let me start with the hotel's pros: 1. Annie was excellent. I only booked a garden view room this time, but she arranged for me to be on the third floor, where I could catch a glimpse of the sea. Once, after swimming, it was inconvenient for me to pick up takeout, and she arranged for a colleague to deliver it. On the last day, she even sent red wine and a deluxe fruit platter. Although I declined the red wine and didn't eat the fruit (even though I accepted it), her thoughtful gesture was very much appreciated. Thank you very much. 2. The location is great. I really like how it's in a bustling area yet very quiet. I definitely wanted to go out and eat good food, as there aren't many good options in Haitang Bay, but there are more choices here. 3. The design is pretty good. To truly feel like a resort, you need these low-rise buildings. The hotel is also genuinely close to the beach, which is very convenient. The family pool area is great for photos. It's quite easy to get some nice pictures here. Now for the cons: 1. I originally thought a clean and tidy room would suffice, and I wouldn't mind if other things were a bit old. However, the bedside outlet was broken, and the air conditioner's fan made a loud noise. I didn't notice it during the day, but after waking up in the middle of the night, I couldn't stop wondering where the noise was coming from, and I didn't sleep well at all. 2. The bedding wasn't suitable for me; both the mattress and pillows were uncomfortable. 3. The water in the main pool was really dirty. I'm not a picky person, but the water in this pool was unfortunately murky. There's no shade around the pool at all, so it gets direct sunlight. 4. The fruit platter and mini-bar were a bit too simple. The fruit platter consisted of one apple, one orange, and one pear. The drinks seemed to be Sprite and Coke. A fresh coconut, which would have been more characteristic of the local area, would have been much better."

"A hotel with exceptional service, and I really want to highlight the service. A huge thank you to Lucia, our hotel butler, for her constant help throughout our stay. From the moment we checked in, Lucia was incredibly welcoming and enthusiastic. When we checked out, I realized I'd left my power bank in the room, and Lucia promptly arranged for a delivery service to bring it back. Having Lucia as our butler made this trip incredibly pleasant. She's the most attentive butler I've encountered in all my visits to Sanya. **Location:** The hotel is just across the road from Sanya Bay's Coconut Palm Promenade, making beach access super convenient. It's also a quick 15-minute taxi ride from the airport. **Room Facilities:** The rooms are clean and tidy. The hotel itself is quite large and has a very distinctive design style. My two children absolutely loved the big bathtub in the room. You can also see the ocean from the hotel balcony. **Breakfast:** The buffet breakfast offers a wide variety of Chinese and Western options. As it's a family-friendly hotel, they also provide baby utensils. The restaurant is very spacious with two huge halls. **Hotel Environment:** The hotel boasts a massive lawn, perfect for travel photography. We brought our two kids for a photoshoot, and each room comes with 5 complimentary retouched travel photos. **Kids' Activities:** This hotel is ideal for families with children. There are several swimming pools, a small water park, and a huge indoor children's play area. The kids loved it so much they didn't want to leave!"

They say an old Ferrari is still a Ferrari... and it's true! If you love peace and quiet with few people around, this is the place to be. You genuinely don't see anyone except during breakfast and the evening soft drink hour. The pool gets a huge thumbs-up! The staff member who took us to our room told us that if we had kids, they could help lower the pool depth from 1.5 meters to 1 meter to suit the children's height! That's really awesome, other canal rooms can't do that! They really adapt to your height... Room service for takeout was prompt, though the takeout itself was pretty bad. The service was just right – not overly enthusiastic to the point of being chatty, nor cold and arrogant. And the ocean waves are gentler than Yalong Bay, plus you can collect seafood. If I could, I'd come again! After all, I didn't get my floating afternoon tea this time, as I booked on the tail end of Typhoon Xylosma... You should really go when you have the chance!

The resort experience at InterContinental Sanya is absolutely amazing! The grounds are surrounded by coconut groves, the private beach is clean and tranquil, and the ocean view rooms offer unobstructed vistas. Waking up to watch the sunrise and enjoying the sea breeze in the evening is simply blissful. The butler service is attentive and thoughtful, with Lucas responding promptly to all our requests. The breakfast selection is abundant, and the family-friendly facilities are excellent. It's the perfect choice for a relaxing getaway, and we'll definitely stay here again on our next trip to Sanya.

My stay at the Grand Hyatt Shenzhou Peninsula in Wanning was a huge disappointment, a total letdown. The butler was very responsive and even proactively offered a late checkout, which helped soothe my frustration. The cider at the lobby lounge in the evening was good, and listening to the piano while feeling the breeze was very pleasant – that was the only comfortable moment I had at this hotel. Check-in was incredibly slow; I wasn't informed my room was ready until 3:40 PM. The room was spacious but definitely dimly lit, had a musty smell (10th floor of the main building), and the bedding felt damp. The Edition, at a similar height, didn't have these issues. I asked the front desk if I could move to a higher floor, but was told the 10th floor was the highest available – fine. One of the sinks wouldn't drain properly, and the hairdryer was broken. I called the front desk and was told housekeeping was busy during peak hours and it would take twenty minutes to send a new one. So, I ended up eating lunch with damp, cool hair, watching my fine, limp hair turn into tangled straw. Reviews on Xiaohongshu said the public areas were beautiful and breakfast was delicious, but I feel like that was misleading. Breakfast was just standard, nothing special. The lawn in the public area leading to the beach was so bare it looked like a 'Mediterranean' (balding) scalp 😅 and the public areas felt small and crowded. In the end, my Sanya trip concluded with the butler helping me arrange airport transfer, so I'll give a positive review for that!🤣

This was our second time staying at Bird's Nest with the kids. This time we booked a larger room, and the front desk kindly upgraded us for free. We even had a dedicated service butler who was incredibly helpful. Their response time for dining arrangements and car bookings was very quick. The room facilities and decor have a charmingly rustic and natural feel. As for the views, they are absolutely stunning, with rolling mountains and blue skies and white clouds that feel within reach. You can hear the rustling of the pines and the wind blowing through the leaves, and there's a panoramic view of Yalong Bay, where the sea and sky blend seamlessly. It's perfect for those looking for a quiet getaway and a close connection with nature.

The Sheraton is absolutely stunning! The lobby design is super cool and spacious, and the public areas are just gorgeous. They don't have a butler service, but all the staff are friendly. I waited about 40 minutes for check-in and got a free upgrade to a suite. The room was so big it actually made me a bit restless at night! Both balconies offer amazing sea views. Breakfast was pretty average though, not much variety, but the Hainan noodles and Baoluo noodles were delicious. The dining area is nice and cool, and the beach views are incredible. They're very strict about not letting you swim after a certain time, which feels very safe. I'd love to visit Sanya again! The complimentary photoshoot included 5 original photos, and the photographer was pretty good. I paid an extra 100 RMB for retouching.

I've been to Sanya several times before, staying at places like St. Regis, Marriott, and MGM. This time, I chose the Crowne Plaza Sanya Bay, and it was a delightful surprise. 1. **Accommodation**: During check-in, the front desk upgraded our room to one with a king bed and two single beds, which was perfect. When traveling with kids, you really don't want to squeeze onto one bed; relaxation is key. On the first day, the room was so big that I had to shout to find people, haha! There was a slight musty smell when we first arrived (I'm quite sensitive to smells), but the housekeeper, Mei Qi, promptly addressed it, providing a dehumidifier. Within a few hours, the smell was completely gone. Another family in our group was initially assigned a room quite far away, and the housekeeper proactively helped them move to the room next door the very next day, which was very thoughtful! 2. **Transportation**: The hotel is conveniently located close to Nanshan Temple, Phoenix Airport, and the high-speed train station, making getting around easy. They offered complimentary airport pickup and drop-off, and they sent a huge bus just for us, which was quite a grand gesture! There are also free shuttle buses to Boundary Island and the duty-free shop, which is very convenient. 3. **Activities**: The hotel boasts three swimming pools. The main pool is massive, easily 50 meters long. The secondary pool is built around the rooms, likely catering to pool-access rooms. This secondary pool is large enough for paddleboarding. There are also lounge chairs and lifeguards by the beach, offering a strong sense of security! 4. **Ambiance**: In the evenings, my family enjoyed sitting on the huge balcony, soaking in the 'essence of heaven and earth,' and we didn't even want to go back to our rooms to sleep until late at night! 5. **Service**: The butler service was superb. While the location isn't as advantageous as Yalong Bay, the service is absolutely top-notch!

The Sheraton Hotel is fantastic. The environment is beautiful, the beach is clean, and the pool is great fun. There are plenty of activities for families. The rooms are clean and tidy, and Butler Potato's service was excellent – always responsive to our needs. The hotel's food selection is varied and reasonably priced. We saw geckos and squirrels everywhere. The private beach is uncrowded and picturesque. It's truly a wonderful family-friendly resort. We'll definitely come again.

Yalong Bay Mangrove Tree Resort

9.3/10
Very Good
Posted on Aug 23, 2026|Deluxe Garden View Twin Room (Garden View+Open Balcony)
Guest User
I've been to Sanya many times, but this was my first time staying at the Mangrove Tree Resort, and it was a very disappointing experience. People online often mention it's old, and it definitely is, but that's not the main issue. After all, I stayed next door a few years ago, and it was old then too, but the experience was great. The key really lies in the facilities and service. Let me first mention two or three good points: first, the room hygiene was good, the cleaning lady was very enthusiastic and responsible; and the breakfast selection was rich and tasty. Now for the long list of complaints: Facilities: The old and small room is forgivable, as it's an entry-level room in an older hotel, but the facilities are truly not user-friendly. 1. There's very little counter space to place things in the room – just one desk and a TV stand. This isn't enough for a family traveling with children. 2. The shower in the bathroom is inside a large bathtub. This design is so outdated! Every day, I had to climb over a bathtub that was over a meter high to shower. If you have elderly family members, definitely do not stay here; there's a risk of falling. 3. There's also a shower area on the balcony. I don't know what kind of ”wild fun” this is meant to provide. Firstly, if you're short, it's impossible to shower while enjoying the view, and people inside the room have a clear view, making it unsuitable for families with children. Furthermore, this shower area has no place to hang towels or clothes, or to put toiletries, needlessly taking up a third of the already small balcony. 4. The clothes rack on the balcony is fixed, so you can't hang long clothes or trousers, only small items, and it clashes with the nearby table and chairs. 5. The toilet is cramped, a three-way split is impossible. The toilet paper holder isn't on the side but to the back right, directly above the trash can, so you need a special technique to tear paper, otherwise it falls into the bin. All the designs are incredibly bizarre; I don't see how this relates to being a ”family-friendly” hotel. Service: I can't even give a score. I specifically requested on Ctrip not to have a corner room, and the room we got was in the furthest wing, the second to last room. So, this doesn't count as a corner room?? Upon check-in, we noticed water dripping from the ceiling's air conditioner condenser right next to my suitcase. We called for maintenance, and they said it was because we had the balcony door open while the AC was on. The implication was that it was our fault for improper use. So, I guess no other guests ever open the balcony door while the AC is on, right? The butler didn't proactively offer any solutions, and we didn't want to push for a room change or upgrade, so we just made do. Then, on our last day, while having breakfast in the hotel's semi-outdoor restaurant, halfway through our meal, water started dripping from the air conditioner condenser above our table, landing in our plates, forcing us to move tables. So, by the hotel's previous logic, the restaurant shouldn't even have AC on, since it's semi-outdoor, right? Shouldn't the hotel compensate me for their own ”usage problem”? It's ridiculous. We encountered many absurd things at this hotel, including but not limited to: although there were staff leading guests to tables at breakfast, on the first morning, they led us incorrectly three times, taking us in different directions only for others to say there were no empty seats in that area. I don't know how they communicate. Later, we saw other guests finishing their meals outside and wanted to sit there, but the usher seemed oblivious, as if sealed in place. We also witnessed a long tile falling off the fruit buffet counter, hitting a guest's foot, and a server accidentally spilling an entire tray of freshly made fried rice, with grains scattered around a focused guest who was unaware and getting food... The public areas are just average for a hotel in Yalong Bay, nothing special. With sunlight, it's not ugly, but it's not particularly beautiful either. The only places worth photographing are the pool, lawn, and coconut trees in front of the lobby. No wonder there are no other pictures in the reviews; I could only photograph this area myself. The children's pool is small, and the standard pool is even smaller, undeserving of the word ”standard.” Having stayed in so many hotels, this one is truly hard to review.

Since 2020, every year around late July and early August, my annual rendezvous with the mountains and sea unfailingly comes to pass. The Mangrove Tree Resort in Haitang Bay has long been my unwavering vacation retreat, perfectly aligning with all my aspirations for a coastal getaway. Year after year, I return with a longing heart. I’ve always been captivated by the 180° Deluxe Seaview Room, with its expansive balcony directly facing the vast South China Sea. Leaning on the railing, I take in the boundless blue sea and sky, watching the clouds drift and the tides ebb and flow. In past stays, I did leave some minor suggestions for improvement. Returning this time, I was delighted to see the hotel has diligently iterated and enhanced its services, with numerous details improved, showcasing a sincere commitment to guest satisfaction. The only minor imperfections this stay were the weak air conditioning in the room and a malfunctioning electric screen. I hope the housekeeping and engineering departments can strengthen their coordinated inspections and daily equipment maintenance to further refine the living experience. This year’s entire trip was exceptionally memorable, and I extend my heartfelt thanks to our butler, 'Juzi Juzi Juzi'. Her service was meticulous and attentive, with highly efficient and timely responses. Every request was addressed. Without me even having to ask, she proactively inquired about my itinerary and daily needs, promptly arranging room cleaning, replenishing beverages, and even thoughtfully providing fruit plates and desserts. When my relatives and friends later checked into the same type of seaview room, they were also handled by the butler throughout their stay. She arranged high-floor rooms with large balconies offering sea views and even provided upgrades. Each room was thoughtfully prepared with fruit plates and desserts – comprehensive and impeccable service. This has been the most outstanding butler service I've experienced in my many years of staying at the Mangrove Tree Resort. I sincerely hope the hotel can cultivate more such excellent service staff. I also want to thank the Trip.com butler who helped me communicate and implement my special check-in requests in advance. Upon arrival, I didn't have to wait in line, and the coveted sea-view room had already been perfectly reserved for me. I used the VIP channel for check-in, and the entire process was calm and smooth. My initial room was upgraded to the 15th floor, and later, due to the air conditioning issue, the butler thoughtfully coordinated a move to the executive floor on the 23rd floor. The service provided by 'Juzi Juzi Juzi' this year was truly flawless. As night falls, fireworks bloom in the sky, with buildings and the heavens reflecting each other, creating a spectacular and dazzling scene. Haitang Bay boasts a cluster of high-end hotels, but in my heart, the Mangrove Tree Resort will always hold an irreplaceable position. Strolling through the hotel gardens, gazing at the vast ocean, enjoying delicious food with the sea breeze; at night, sitting alone by the sea, listening to the rhythmic waves, I fully indulge in the relaxation and tranquility of a vacation. I have witnessed the hotel’s growth and transformation over the years and wish to continue accompanying the Mangrove Tree Resort on its journey forward. I look forward to the hotel's continued refinement and the unlocking of more novel and exciting experiences. I anticipate returning next summer for another rendezvous with the mountains and sea. I wish the Mangrove Tree Resort Sanya Haitang Bay a prosperous future!

Sanya Haitang Bay Wanda Realm was an absolute gem! The location is incredible, right next to the duty-free shop. After a shopping spree, it was just a few steps back to the hotel, making getting around incredibly convenient. The hotel grounds are massive, with coconut groves and ocean views everywhere you look – every photo is Instagram-worthy. Ella provided such thoughtful service, always there for any little thing we needed, taking care of everything down to the last detail. All I had to do was eat, drink, play, and relax [heart emoji]. I didn't have to worry about a thing, the experience was top-notch. I'll definitely be staying here again next time I'm in Sanya! [rose emoji]
