Located in the heart of the Sanya Bay, Howard Johnson Resort Sanya Bay enjoys 100,000m² of intimate tropical gardens, and 4,500m²of swimming pools, along with the spectacular seaview and beautiful beach. The hotel has 850 rooms and suites, as well as a variety of dining venues, SPA,fitness center and kids club, which bring you an unforgettable vacation. The2700m² conference and meeting rooms are equipped with modern facilities to meet all needs of meetings and gatherings.

"We were very satisfied with our stay at the hotel. I'll start with the main thing — the location is super convenient: the beach is literally 2 minutes on foot, there is an underground passage, so the road is safe and fast. The airport is also nearby — it's great that you can take a bus, stop right at the hotel, it saves a lot of time and nerves on arrival and departure. The hotel itself was pleased with the large well-groomed territory, where there is everything you need. The pool is huge and clean — a separate delight. The staff was polite, helpful, and helpful with any questions. The breakfasts are varied, the hall is spacious, you will not stay hungry. Among the household advantages: there is a KFC and McDonald's nearby, as well as an outdoor market with a large selection of fresh seafood — very convenient if you want variety. The only drawback worth considering is that the hotel is located slightly away from the main entertainment centers and attractions, so if you plan active excursions, you will have to take public transport. And, of course, the rooms: the building is already old, the furniture would like to update, it is noticeable. But if the main thing for you is the convenience of the beach, silence and good service, and not the novelty of the interior, then the hotel fully meets expectations. I recommend it!"

"Upon arrival, the concierge was very friendly and helped us store our luggage and deliver it to our room. Even though there were a lot of people, the service was efficient and our bags arrived even before we did. All the hotel staff were polite and greeted us whenever we saw them. The public areas are great and really give off a resort vibe. The breakfast restaurant also has a wonderful ambiance, especially the window seats with stunning views. The selection isn't huge, but it's just right, and the food tastes good. I highly recommend the high-floor sea view rooms; the panoramic views from the balcony are incredible. A special thanks to Dora, the hotel's GRO, who contacted us before our stay and added us on WeChat, constantly asking about our check-in preferences – she was incredibly thoughtful. In addition to the standard welcome fruit, we also received an extra fruit plate and a bottle of red wine in the evening. As an IHG Ambassador member, I was eligible for a late checkout until 4 PM, but since we had to rush to another hotel the next day, we checked out early. Seeing us leave early, Dora surprised us with two dessert vouchers for the lobby bar, where we redeemed them for two small cakes – they were delicious! This stay was an excellent experience and a great start to our Sanya trip. I highly recommend it to everyone!"

InterContinental Hotels SANYA HAITANG BAY RESORT by IHG

9.6/10
Excellent

I've stayed at several InterContinental hotels in recent years, so let's start with what I liked about this one: the rooms are spacious, the balconies are large, and the facilities are well-maintained. All the staff I encountered, including the front desk, restaurant servers, bellhops, executive lounge personnel, and even the cleaning staff, were very warm and polite. The breakfast buffet was also quite good, with prompt plate clearing and food replenishment. I'll definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends. Now, for some areas I think could be improved: As an InterContinental hotel, I find it unacceptable to use melamine bowls in the buffet restaurant. If it were a Holiday Inn, one of your sister brands, I could understand, but you're an InterContinental. Secondly, there's a distinct odor at the entrance to the kids' club. This is something you should learn from a certain hotel in Haitang Bay (like Haitang Bay Shangri-La). Your management team can go and take a breath there to understand. Another issue, which isn't unique to InterContinental but applies to many hotels in Haitang Bay, is having too many interns. While it's normal to have interns, their proportion shouldn't be excessive. As I mentioned before, you're an InterContinental, not a Hilton or a Sheraton. One more thing I hope the hotel considers is encouraging guests to give honest feedback based on their true feelings, rather than implicitly or explicitly guiding them to review the hotel's service in a certain way. It's 2026, and we're in a digital age; mindsets need to change. This is for the hotel management. Don't you know that nowadays, overly high scores are often met with skepticism? People tend to trust ratings between 4.6 and 4.8. Please stop using these inflated scores to evaluate your staff. Finally, I hope the executive lounge's offerings can be further enriched. It should feel like a proper meal, not just an afterthought.

The Banyan Tree far exceeded my expectations, from the hotel itself to the service. It was quiet, comfortable, and the service was incredibly responsive and thoughtful. Housekeeping was impeccable. They upgraded my room and surprised me with a cake, red wine, and traditional Qingbuliang dessert. For breakfast, they arranged a shuttle based on dining times. The beach was uncrowded and relaxing, offering plenty to do. It truly met all my requirements for a leisurely vacation. This hotel will definitely be my first choice when I visit Sanya again.

The hotel's interior design is truly unique and sophisticated, exuding a sense of luxury everywhere. The rooms are spacious and bright with excellent natural light, making the stay feel completely unconfined. The garden views are stunning at every turn, perfect for Instagram-worthy photos. The restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes, and the recreational facilities are comprehensive. What was most touching was our butler, Fiona, who provided thoughtful greetings every day and offered impeccable, all-encompassing service – a truly exceptional experience!

1. The room facilities are outdated; the waterproof strip on the bathroom door fell off multiple times. 2. Mold was growing in the corners of the room. 3. The mahjong room and the barbecue area were closed, but we weren't informed. The three-day-two-night itinerary provided by the hotel also didn't include updated information. We arrived at the mahjong room only to find it closed, with no notice at the entrance and no staff around. After searching for a while, we were finally told it was closed for maintenance. On the day of checkout, the manager called to ask for feedback, which was a nice touch – at least they showed good attitude. We stayed in the Phoenix Pool Triple Villa, sharing a pool with another family. The view was still great, but the breakfast wasn't as good as it was ten years ago.

We only stayed at the Atlantis hotel for one night, but it was absolutely amazing, especially for our child. He even said it was the best hotel he'd ever stayed at! And he's been traveling regularly since he was four months old; he's nine now. The room was large, clean, and bright, with two big beds that were practically queen-sized (maybe they even were). It had a shower, a bathtub, and all the amenities. Plus, a complimentary mini-bar and fruits. Our room was on a high floor, offering a great view of the entire resort's infrastructure – the waterpark and the aquarium. We even watched the dolphin show once from our balcony and once directly at the complex. We managed to experience everything, which was incredibly convenient. First, they scan your face, and then you use Face ID for access everywhere. You get unlimited entries to both the park and the aquarium, which is fantastic for managing your time. You can spend all day at the aquarium or all day at the waterpark, staying as long as you like. We were lucky on our check-in day because the waterpark was open until late evening, either eight or nine o'clock, I can't quite remember. We thoroughly enjoyed the rides and even had time to catch a show at the aquarium. The next day, we woke up early, had breakfast, and still managed to visit the waterpark again and see the dolphin show twice. We even made it to the kids' club. The kids' club was another highlight – new, modern, and very engaging; I even went in with my child. Our manager, Ariel, personally came to our room, introduced herself, and gave us chocolates. She also arranged a late checkout for us at 2:00 PM. She was always available and incredibly helpful with all our questions. My son is nine, but he's quite tall, almost 150 cm. The kids' zone at the waterpark usually has a height restriction of 130 cm, implying it's for kids aged 12+ in China. However, Ariel helped us resolve this issue by speaking with management, and my son was able to ride all the slides he wanted. This really made a great impression on both my son and me. We travel around Sanya, staying in different hotels for 1, 2, or 3 days because each hotel has its own unique charm. But the Atlantis is definitely a place we'll return to. We loved everything, especially the service and Ariel, our manager. She's brilliant, a very pleasant, open, lively, and helpful young woman. Thank you for this wonderful day on this island paradise. It will surely stay in our hearts and memories forever.

Finally checked into the Sheraton Sanya Yalong Bay, a long-standing five-star hotel, and my entire stay exceeded expectations! The hotel boasts a prime private beach with clear waters and fine sand. The lush tropical gardens make every photo look like a stunning island postcard. Our room was spacious with a huge courtyard, which the kids absolutely loved. The bedding was soft and comfortable, and the entire room was meticulously cleaned. There's no shortage of activities: five outdoor pools, a children's waterslide, a mini-train tour, and beach volleyball – enough to keep the kids entertained all day long. The breakfast buffet offered a rich variety, with freshly cooked Hainanese noodles, tropical fruits, and local snacks galore. In the evenings, there's a barbecue dinner with live music on the beachfront lawn, creating a fantastic atmosphere. The front desk, housekeeping, and beach staff were all gentle and attentive. Check-in was efficient, and they even offered a complimentary room upgrade. The location is perfect, with direct access to the beach and far from the city's hustle and bustle. It's ideal for both couples on a getaway and families with kids. We'll definitely prioritize staying here again on our next trip to Sanya!

I chose this hotel for a family trip. The craft workshops are excellent, both the free and paid ones, and the staff are very dedicated – kudos to them. The numerous pools are great for kids. There's a noodle place where the tomato and beef brisket noodles are delicious, with fresh hand-pulled noodles, though the noodle thickness could be improved; it's odd for a hotel of this caliber. The baking activity was also great, with ample ingredients. My first sandwich-making experience was good, the staff were very attentive, and it tasted nice. However, during the second session (cake making), I mentioned I was catching a flight and didn't need it packed, just cut to eat. To my surprise, they said there was no knife! How can a restaurant not have a knife? What did they use to cut the sandwiches yesterday? They insisted I pack it, so I ended up cutting it myself. I asked for a plate and fork, and it took ages for a response, even though they were right there on a nearby table, so I just grabbed them myself. I don't know what the staff were doing. Overall, it's a very good hotel, but this incident really put a damper on my mood.

It felt like the hotel mainly relied on the butler to fix issues, and the concierge service was decent, but everything else was just so-so. When checking in, the front desk staff gave off a vibe like they couldn't care less if we stayed or not. I immediately wanted to leave a bad review, but the butler appeared just in time, so I held back. Later, after I reported a strange smell in the room, the butler proactively arranged a room change. Around 10 PM, we moved to the new room and requested an extra child bed rail. Here's the key point – the attendant was a middle-aged woman. Seeing her age, I even helped her lift the mattress to install the bed rail, but she had a sour face the entire time. When she left after installing it, she even knocked the 'do not disturb' sign off the doorknob and didn't pick it up; I had to pick it up myself. Even worse, before she left, she blurted out, ”If you want to change again, there are no more rooms, alright?” I was baffled. You're just a room attendant, do you decide whether there are rooms available? Such disruptive comments only make guests feel your impatience and complaints, doing nothing to solve the problem, but instead escalating tensions. As it turned out, the new room had other problems, and we were tired and couldn't be bothered to move again, so we just went back to our original room. Because of the room change hassle, the next morning we realized we were missing two sets of dental kits, one adult and one child. We called to have them delivered, and here's another key point – first, there was a ring, which we thought was the doorbell, but when we opened the door, no one was there. Then it rang a second time, and we realized it was the in-room phone. We answered and were told the dental kits had been delivered and left outside the door. We opened the door again only to find them simply placed on the ground. We were in the room; couldn't you have rung the doorbell and handed them to us? Or if you prefer to leave them at the door, fine, but these are items meant for our mouths! Even if they have an outer package, couldn't you at least put them in a basket or something? What's the deal with just putting them on the ground?!

A slow-paced island getaway, where I found an abundance of warmth at the Mangrove. Strolling through the lush, shaded lawn by the sea, listening to the ocean's whispers was incredibly therapeutic. The rooftop helipad offered a unique viewing experience, providing a magnificent and romantic panoramic view of the azure bay from above. Our butler, Ella, was incredibly attentive and thoughtful, responding instantly to any requests during our stay and thoughtfully arranging a professional photoshoot to capture the beautiful scenery of our trip. The hotel's overall environment is clean and elegant, with excellent recreational facilities, and comfortable, livable rooms. The professional photoshoot perfectly captured the unique beauty of the sunset over the lawn and the distant views from the helipad. This combination of heartwarming service and stunning scenery made the trip truly worthwhile.

This is truly the ideal beachfront escape! The public areas are lush with greenery, offering excellent privacy. The room's balcony has an unbeatable view; every morning I woke up to green palm trees. The mattress was just right—not too soft, not too firm—ensuring a great night's sleep. A special shout-out to our butler, Ella, whose service was excellent and very attentive, absolutely perfect! The breakfast selection was rich and varied, and even the toiletries in the bathroom were top-notch. Five stars! 🌴
