"We had a very frustrating experience trying to check in. The staff member helping us seemed very unfamiliar with the system and initially said my partner couldn’t check in without me, even though the booking was in both of our names. Then when he finally relented, my partner wasn’t able to pay the $50 deposit because the credit card reader wasn’t working properly (or possibly the staff member had messed that up as well?), so he had to hang around for 15 minutes until I turned up. Then, when I was trying to check in the same staff member somehow suddenly ‘lost’ our booking and couldn’t progress… after another 10 minutes the he eventually asked his manager to come help and locate the booking (which the manager did with no issues). The manager was nearby the whole time but didn’t seem interested in helping until the staff member actively requested his assistance, even though it was clear we’d been there for ages - honestly I was about to asks the manager to come over myself. It was absolutely bizarre, overall it took over 30 minutes to check in and was very frustrating. The room was a bit dirty (stains on the curtains and bed headrest) but serviceable."

"Would definitely stay here again on my next visit to Melbourne. Facilities: The facilities are modern and well-maintained. It was also the only hotel I've stayed at in Australia that provided toothbrushes and toothpaste, which was a pleasant surprise. Cleanliness: Our room was spacious, tidy, and impeccably clean. Location: The location is absolutely prime, right in the city center. It's incredibly convenient for exploring everything, and it's right next door to Chinatown. Service: The service was outstanding. The front desk staff were incredibly warm and helpful."

"This apartment is right on the edge of Melbourne’s free tram zone, just a few blocks from Flinders Street Station—an ideal base for anyone familiar with the city’s tram network. Getting around is straightforward if you know how to make the most of the free transport system. The apartment itself is well-equipped with all the essentials for a comfortable stay. A functional kitchen includes a stove, an ample supply of cutlery and plates, and a smart TV with built-in access to Netflix—perfect for winding down after a day out. The heater did emit a high-pitched noise when first switched on, but it settled once the temperature stabilized, allowing for a restful night. The only down side is the reception is not 24hrs."

"Clean, quiet, convenient, safe, and reasonably priced. It's right opposite a police station and a large supermarket, and close to the train station. The Atlantis Hotel is directly across from the Victoria Police Centre and Coles Central Supermarket, and very close to Southern Cross Station, making it incredibly convenient for train and Skybus travel [strong recommendation emoji]. Highly recommended!"

"Typical sterile boring but very functional Hotel. Not much difference in many of these types of hotels dotted around the city. It is purely there to do what it advertisers to do which is provide a comfortable night accommodation but has about as much excitement and spark as my 95-year-old grandfather. 👴…. It’s as boring as you would expect it to be sitting off the edge of the city. however, the rooms were very clean and the bed comfortable so no complaints in that respect. I would definitely stay here again if I needed a night accommodation purely for a night accommodation. unfortunately this is where hotels are heading in this functional world of ours. Boring but functional. If there was a pod hotel in Melbourne, I would definitely stay there instead of here as at least a pod hotel will have a travel vibe to it. "

Introduction to Melbourne

Melbourne, situated in the southeastern part of Australia, is the capital city of Victoria. Known for its Victorian-era architecture, extensive shopping districts, diverse food culture, and bustling arts scene, Melbourne provides an exciting mix of style, sport, and entertainment.

Tips for Travelling to Melbourne

Melbourne is serviced by two main airports: Melbourne Airport, also known as Tullamarine Airport, for international flights, and Avalon Airport for domestic ones. The city offers a range of public transport options, including trams, buses, and trains.

The official currency is the Australian Dollar (AUD), and most businesses accept credit and debit cards. English is the primary language. It's recommended to check Australia's visa policies as they vary based on nationality and purpose of visit.

Popular Attractions in Melbourne

There's no shortage of attractions in Melbourne. The Royal Botanic Gardens, Federation Square, and the National Gallery of Victoria are must-visits. Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the Melbourne Cricket Ground, while those interested in wildlife should head to the Melbourne Zoo or the SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium.

Don't miss out on the Melbourne Star Observation Wheel for stunning city views, or the Queen Victoria Market for a taste of local produce.

Weather, Best Time to Visit, and What to Wear

Melbourne, Australia has a temperate oceanic climate with distinct seasons, with temperatures ranging from winter lows of around 6°C (43°F) to summer highs reaching up to 25°C (77°F). Summers (December - February) are warm to hot, while winters (June - August) can get quite cold. Spring and autumn are mild and are usually the best times to visit.

Dressing in layers is recommended as Melbourne weather can change quickly. Don't forget your sunscreen and a hat for the Australian sun.

Choosing Your Ideal Hotel in Melbourne

For a luxurious stay in the heart of the city, consider the Langham Melbourne or the Crown Towers Melbourne. Budget travelers might prefer the Ibis Melbourne Central, offering comfort and an excellent location.

The Hotel Lindrum Melbourne offers a boutique, Instagram-worthy experience, while the Travelodge Hotel Melbourne Docklands is a great option for business travelers due to its proximity to the business district.

DDaphh02The Highlights 1. The location of this hotel is second to none. Right outside the door, you’ll find endless food options from quick bites to diverse international cuisines, plus plenty of cafés, bars, and public transport. Having the SkyBus stop to the airport just around the corner was convenient. 2. Every team member I met was friendly, approachable, and genuinely eager to help. They are well-trained and motivated to provide excellent service. 3. The room itself was spacious and modern. Both the daytime city views and night lights from the window were wonderful, and the furnishings felt new and well-maintained. 4. Guests have access to some excellent facilities, including a gym, a library, and a full wellness area. The indoor pool is comfortably heated even on a chilly Melbourne evening, and it comes with a sauna and bubble spa, which makes the stay feel more like a resort. What Could Be Improved 1. The room setup felt unusual. I booked a one-bedroom suite, but was placed in a two-bedroom apartment with the master bedroom locked off. I completely understand that I only paid for one room, but it felt a little strange knowing there was a part of “my” room I couldn’t access. Personally, I would have preferred a proper one-bedroom layout with full access. 2. The bedroom I was 'allowed' to stay in also didn’t have its own air conditioning. It relied on the living room’s unit to keep cool, while the locked-off master had its system. This design made things a bit uncomfortable at times, especially overnight. 3. The sofa had an unpleasant, urine-like odour, which made us reluctant to rest in the lounge. 4. The main door lock was rusty and stiff, making it frustrating to open and close. 5. There was no landline phone in the room to contact reception, so the only option was to head downstairs. A couple of times, even during office hours, the reception was unattended (likely because one staff member was juggling multiple tasks). It could be so inconvenient to have a more extended stay. 6. While the pool facilities were lovely, they were often crowded. The common facilities are shared with residents of the building as well as hotel guests, but this detracted from the relaxing vibe. Would I stay here again? Yes, probably. Mainly because of the unbeatable location, the great facilities, and the friendly staff. But I do think the hotel needs to address the details so that it can align with what they claimed as 'luxury'.

3320495****The hotel offers a convenient location with parking available right outside, making it easy for picking up guests. Rooms are generally quiet. Breakfast is provided; it offers good value if it's included in your Ctrip booking without an extra charge, otherwise, it's not worth the additional cost. It's a simple Western breakfast, and the menu doesn't change daily. While the hotel itself is reasonably clean, housekeeping standards are only average. On my first morning, there was no hot water in the bathroom; I had to run the tap for almost half an hour just to get a lukewarm shower. However, after I emailed them, the hot water issue was resolved for the remainder of my stay. Housekeeping repeatedly missed replenishing coffee, provided too few towels, and sometimes even forgot to put on pillowcases. Standard rooms are randomly assigned a queen-sized bed or twin beds. The bed was quite wobbly when turning over. The bathroom features only glass partitions, offering no light isolation or privacy. If you accidentally switch on the main light while using the toilet, you are completely exposed. It's an acceptable stay, but for the same price, you might find better options elsewhere.

PPugongyingdezhongziThe hotel is conveniently located right next to the T4 terminal parking lot. What's really thoughtful is the shuttle bus service (every twenty minutes, inquire at the front desk upon check-in) that takes you directly to the international departure gate at T2, which is super convenient. The hotel also has an Italian restaurant, and meals ordered are delivered to your room within 30 to 40 minutes. The room amenities are quite new and comfortable. It's perfectly suited for those catching early morning flights. The hotel service is good; the front desk staff, a very nice young lady, proactively provided information about the shuttle bus and recommended suitable timings. Two things to note: 1. Novotel and Ibis are in the same building, with separate front desks at opposite ends, so make sure you line up at the correct one; 2. The shuttle bus needs to be booked in advance, as they check names before boarding, and you might not get on without a reservation.

SsweetknellneuThis is definitely a hotel I'd want to stay at again; check-in was super smooth. The room and bed were really small, but it's newly renovated and has everything you need, plus a nice city view from the window. The price was fantastic, and the location is super convenient – you can walk everywhere you want to go in the city. The only downside is that it's a bit close to the train tracks, so light sleepers might want to bring earplugs. The air conditioning kept showing errors and wasn't working very well.

SSolomon LoOn 24/6 I ordered fried eggs during breakfast, yet the quality of the eggs were not up to standard, yolk was not normal and with no taste at all, yet I ordered same on the next day with a different chef, that was back to a normal egg, I wondered Sheraton would use such quality of eggs! Another opinion is that gym room facilities are not enough, thanks!

GGuest UserI was attending a convention over the weekend and was looking for a hotel in the Melbourne CBD area that was within walking distance to convention functions held at the Arts Centre, the Rialto and the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. I found the ‘Novotel on Collins’ on line and was pleasantly surprised at how much it suited my needs. Its convenience to Flinders St Station was extremely beneficial. There was staff manning the ground floor entrance which was a reassuring safety factor for me. The hotel was clean and the staff friendly and helpful. My Queen room was a good size and suited my needs extremely well. Breakfast was included with my room and the food was a good quality and offered a good variety of cereals as well as hot food options and various pastries. I appreciated that there was a drink container of water flavoured with lemon/orange/lime slices available near the reception area. I felt very safe, and contented with the accommodation and services available.

GGuest UserThe photos on there site show a pool, we got there the pool has weeds growing out of it . Very disappointed and the Beds are very hard as well. The restaurant has closed down as well. The room was clean but know room service so your on your own if you run out of tea and coffee. Thank god we had a microwave so we could still eat.
