A very enjoyable stay in an excellent hotel. The reception, housekeeping, and breakfast service staff were very friendly and efficient, and the room was spacious, comfortable, well-equipped, and very quiet. The location is also very good, being on the edge of the city centre and only a 5-minute walk from the Skybus airport bus service platforms, Southern Cross Station, and an outlet centre shopping mall. There’s also a Coles supermarket across the road. The continental breakfast was also very good value. I hope to have the opportunity to stay here again in the future.

Convenient transportation, large rooms, especially large bathrooms. I recommend staying at Westin for families. I stayed at Grand Hyatt and Westin this time. I highly recommend Westin. The two hotels are not on the same level. Although the facilities of Westin are old, it is still a top American hotel. The balcony is beautiful and the view is right when you open the door. The lobby waiter is Japanese and very considerate.

I booked this room with concerns because we had a brother/sister pair and the pictures showed WC and shower that had only frosted glass for privacy - something I really don’t get and seems to be some new fad in hotels nowadays, not just Ibis Melbourne Central. But glad that the staff were able to secure a room with privacy doors ahead of our stay.

I want to give this hotel 10 stars!!! I booked a 6-night stay in Melbourne on a business trip. I was really satisfied with the stay and felt friendly and loved~ 1. The location of the hotel couldn't be better. It is just behind Melbourne Town Hall. You can walk to Collins Street, City Center and Chinatown for shopping and dining. There are two large parks in front and next to it, and there are full of coffee shops opposite 2. The hotel has a guide dog named Mr. Walker, who was raised by the Victorian Guide Dog Organization. He came to the hotel when he was over 1 year old and became the guide dog ambassador of the hotel! He patrols the lobby for one hour every day from Monday to Saturday at 10:30 am and 15:30 pm! Help special people in need. The dog was raised by the staff's love. He is now over nine years old and very strong. He is quiet at work and very lively after work. The staff said that he would go for a walk, take a bath and sleep after dinner every day. 3. The staff are very friendly and answer all questions. There are also several Chinese staff members who are expected to provide better help. 4. The hotel room is too big, much bigger than several accommodations of the same brand and price in Australia! 5. The hotel has its own tennis court, which is charged by the hour, but I didn't go there. It looks very big from the room. 6. The sanitation is super good. The auntie cleans up every time and provides drinking water. This is my first time in Melbourne. It's a really great city! I will come to see this dog named Walker again.

We (wife n my 13 years old son) recently stayed at this hotel and unfortunately, I was quite disappointed with the room. The bed was much smaller than expected, which made it uncomfortable for a good night's sleep. Additionally, the air conditioning didn’t seem to work properly – it wasn’t cold enough to cool the room, leaving it uncomfortably warm throughout the night. For the price, I expected better quality and more comfort. I hope the hotel can improve these aspects for future guests.

Room itself was as described but the city view was so lousy. Location ok, free CBD tram in front and variety of restaurants. Shopping area was quite far to walk. In all I would look for another hotel if I were to go to Melbourne again.

The hotel had some positive aspects, such as a swimming pool and a central location, which made it convenient for exploring the area. However, we had a frustrating experience with the cleaning service. Despite prior arrangements, the agreed-upon cleaning was only carried out late in the evening after a very lengthy discussion with the staff. This was quite annoying and negatively impacted our stay. While the amenities and location were good, the service needs significant improvement.

Introduction to Melbourne

Melbourne, situated in the southeastern part of Australia, is the capital city of Victoria. Known for its Victorian-era architecture, extensive shopping districts, diverse food culture, and bustling arts scene, Melbourne provides an exciting mix of style, sport, and entertainment.

Tips for Travelling to Melbourne

Melbourne is serviced by two main airports: Melbourne Airport, also known as Tullamarine Airport, for international flights, and Avalon Airport for domestic ones. The city offers a range of public transport options, including trams, buses, and trains.

The official currency is the Australian Dollar (AUD), and most businesses accept credit and debit cards. English is the primary language. It's recommended to check Australia's visa policies as they vary based on nationality and purpose of visit.

Popular Attractions in Melbourne

There's no shortage of attractions in Melbourne. The Royal Botanic Gardens, Federation Square, and the National Gallery of Victoria are must-visits. Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the Melbourne Cricket Ground, while those interested in wildlife should head to the Melbourne Zoo or the SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium.

Don't miss out on the Melbourne Star Observation Wheel for stunning city views, or the Queen Victoria Market for a taste of local produce.

Weather, Best Time to Visit, and What to Wear

Melbourne, Australia has a temperate oceanic climate with distinct seasons, with temperatures ranging from winter lows of around 6°C (43°F) to summer highs reaching up to 25°C (77°F). Summers (December - February) are warm to hot, while winters (June - August) can get quite cold. Spring and autumn are mild and are usually the best times to visit.

Dressing in layers is recommended as Melbourne weather can change quickly. Don't forget your sunscreen and a hat for the Australian sun.

Choosing Your Ideal Hotel in Melbourne

For a luxurious stay in the heart of the city, consider the Langham Melbourne or the Crown Towers Melbourne. Budget travelers might prefer the Ibis Melbourne Central, offering comfort and an excellent location.

The Hotel Lindrum Melbourne offers a boutique, Instagram-worthy experience, while the Travelodge Hotel Melbourne Docklands is a great option for business travelers due to its proximity to the business district.

Very Good
GGuest UserThis is a very nice resort. The interior is very clean and large. Bed is comfortable and toilet is good with jacuzzi. You will see kangaroos and cockatoos outside the cottage in the morning and evening. My kids enjoy the stay very much. However you need to either cook your own meals or drive out to eat. The drive is about 15 mins.

GGuest UserThe Novotel Melbourne Airport is very conveniently located near Terminal 4 of the airport. It was a short walk to catch our international flight. All is well with the hotel's room, where it was clean and was well provided for. However, they need to look into their self check-in kiosks which none worked no matter which one I tried. As a result, the check-in queue was long as we had to wait for 2 agents to check ALL of us in.

FFanny2797The hotel is located in beautiful location, especially for traveller that come to Melbourne for the first time. Close to Skybus drop off point (from airport and go to airport), close to tram stop (free tram zone). And a lot of restaurants nearby. Therefore, when I first checked in. Our room is particularly small and looks old. Even the smell is like old wet wood. The chain lock is not working, but the automatic lock is working well. And the fridge is leaking. One of the staff is very patient and helpful, she brings the room spray, called the maintenance staff to fix the lock and brings towel to wipe the water from the fridge. She told us that the maintenance staff could only come the next day. Therefore, my friend was not happy about the situation, professionally when we checked in, everything should be ready for the customer to stay. Well she is a hospitality professional so I also agree with her. So we asked the staff that assisted us about changing room, she told us to call the receptionist. When my friend call the receptionist explaining the situation, one lady in receptionist just keep denying and keep telling us the lock is not broken, the fridge not leaking just someone defrost it. Meanwhile she didn’t see the situation herself, which make my friend more upset because she feels like the receptionist just accuse her that she make up all the stories. Luckily another friendly male receptionist helps us and shows us the only room available in our room type, my friend about to cancel the whole booking before that. And we agreed to take the room. The room is more spacious, hot shower running well (no bathtub), lock is working, and the fridge working. The downside just a little bit dusty on the surface of everything and I found a pack of opened ketchup (probably from previous guest) next to the bed. The pillow and blanket is not comfortable compared to another hotel in the same level. Do I like the location? Yes. Do I like the service? Yes, everyone doing their best except one. Do they help with luggage before and after check out? Yes, very good point on that. Is it clean? Probably no, but bearable. If you go for efficiency, this place is the one. If you go for comfort, I don’t really recommend this.

AAnonymous UserThis hotel has the worst service of any Hyatt I have ever stayed at. The overall staff was absent-minded, and no one ever answered the front desk phone or room service. Several times we had to run downstairs to communicate with the front desk. There are no bathrobes in the hotel, which is the first time I have encountered this.

BBee LoongPrepaid S$575.33 for booking a room for 2nights from May 22-24. Front desk charged to my credit card again upon checkout for A$586.16 (S$543.59). He didnt realise the double charge until I brought to his attention. He apologised and reversed the charge, & assured me there wont be a credit card admin fee charged. However, when I received my credit card statement, it shows I was charged S$39.04 being FX & bank fee for the mistake the front desk staff made. I’ve been following up with Sheraton MEL since July 10 on this matter but no news after July 26 when I gave the bank information as requested by Mr Kajal Gaurav to process the refund. Till today Aug 21, I have yet to receive the refund. I have emailed several times to Sheraton but no one is replying. I am still waiting to hear from anyone copied in the email correspondence to provide an explanation and if I will still be receiving $39.04. Meanwhile, I’d still like to thank David, the housekeeping staff, who was extremely helpful during my stay.

GGuest UserLocation: Can be tricky to find the first time as you need to turn onto Cyril Street. Look across the road for the white building with red writing. Check-in: easy and fast. The man on reception is friendly and organised, just a lovely receptionist. There is a bond of $200; be organised and you’ll save your time and the receptionist’s time. You can pay the bond in cash. Parking: great, BUT there are some permanents living there and so you might want to park away from them… you will see immediately where you should not park :) clean parking area. Seemed organised. Room: very clean, comfortable. There are no knives, forks or plates, but there is a kettle and a microwave. Teas coffees, etc. six milk pods, so maybe bring milk if you need more. Really make sure that you close the door properly or it will seem shut, but not actually be shut and will open :) Good curtains in the room that block out the light from outside. I noticed a fair amount of security cameras outside on the walkway, which was reassuring. Fantastic showers with plenty of hot water and good water pressure. The bed is firm, but I liked it. Would or wouldn’t stay again? Unfortunately, no, not while they are acting as ‘crisis accommodation’. The staff and room were great, but there are some undesirables living there who kept us awake all night. Not exaggerating when I say, did not sleep AT ALL. We were up and down to check on the car - the permanents were screaming, fighting - some real Jerry Springer stuff. I was upstairs and the people next to me had a dog that barked all night, in addition to the couple screaming at each other :/ Downstairs, fighting, screaming constantly. it sounded like something got broken downstairs. A guy on a motorbike kept coming and going, visiting the permanents downstairs and talking super loudly, then more yelling and fighting after he tore off on his bike. I didn’t feel safe; I expected the car to get damaged. I realise those people’s behaviour is not the motel’s fault, but I was so tired the next day that I got a migraine and yeah, still fending it off now, day after. Not impressed with those feral permanents. It’s a shame because the staff and rooms are great
