3-Star Hotels in Melbourne

I stayed in Box Hill motel between 3rd of Nov'23 - 5th of Nov'23. My husband and I arrived at Box Hill motel around 12-1pm. We were so exhausted as we took turn driving from Sydney - Melbourne. We drove from Sydney past midnight. Upon calling if we would be let in early, surprisingly it is allowed. Otherwise we would have slept in the car until check-in time if the room isn't ready yet. We got room no.1 and it was very clean. I didn't use the towel as I prefer to use my own towel, my husband also use his own towel. One of the hanging towel though had a snot on it and I put that towel aside despite we didn't use it. There were 3x plates in total and one of the plate was dirty and I assumed previous guest must have used this 1 plate and didn't wash it but instead just slipped it in between the clean plate. We used 2x plates for ourselves but I washed the 3x plates myself. Great Wifi speed too as I was able to complete a little bit of work from Room no.1. My parents always taught me to appreciate and respect people's places. Upon checking out, I saw Carol and OMG, she is so kind, friendly, down to earth and helpful. She was busy rolling people's luggage to their room. I remember my father always taught me the great businessman is not the one who always wanted to be served but the one who knew how to serve others first. There's a saying about ”servant leadership”. A great leader know how it feels to be at the bottom to observe, learn and serving others as well as better appreciate the top and experience various roles to understand the duties and responsibilities of each roles. THANK YOU Box hill motel team and Carol too for allowing us to stay at your beautiful clean and tidy place. We were able to sleep very soundly, hope nobody can hear us snoring :) I highly recommend Box Hill motel, Melbourne to anyone on a trip to Melbourne.

The hotel is conveniently located on a small street next to City Hall, just a five-minute walk to the tram station. It's a building constructed in 1880, which once served as the Victoria Coffee Palace. On the mezzanine floor, there are some 19th-century antique items displayed in two cabinets. The triple room isn't huge, but it was sufficient for two adults and one child. The beds have wheels and can be moved around, and the nightstands are also movable, allowing you to combine them into one large and one small bed, creating space for luggage. The room was very clean, though the sliding door in the shower had a minor issue. Slippers and drinking water are not provided in the room, but you can get water from the dispenser on the mezzanine floor, which is convenient enough. There was a strange noise from the air conditioning at night, and someone came to fix it after we reported it. We stayed for three days, and the breakfast didn't change at all, offering both English and Chinese options, as shown in the picture. Overall, it was decent, but those with high expectations for breakfast should consider other options.

We had a pleasant stay at Quality Hotel Melbourne Airport. The room was spacious, clean, and quiet, making it comfortable for a good night's rest. Heating is provided through the in-room air-conditioning system, although the bathroom itself is not heated. The location is convenient and easy to find, with on-site parking available. One unique feature is the charming old-school cargo-style lift, which makes it easy to transport luggage and travel companions to the second level. The front office staff were really friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. The hotel also offers a complimentary 24/7 on-demand airport shuttle service, which was extremely convenient. Being located very close to the airport makes it an excellent choice for transit travellers or those with early flights. There are also several dining options nearby, as well as both Aldi and Woolworths supermarkets within about a 10-minute walk. Overall, a comfortable and convenient stay that we would recommend.

Stayed six nights in a 6-bed mixed dorm with shared bathroom. The location is the main selling point — right in the CBD, walking distance to Melbourne Central and the free tram zone, so getting around the city is easy. Staff were helpful and responsive whenever we had questions. The room and shared bathrooms were kept reasonably clean, though with six people sharing, tidiness depends a lot on who you’re rooming with. Facilities cover the basics — lockers, kitchen, rooftop area — functional rather than luxurious, which is about what you’d expect at this price point. Overall

great location and facilities, but be prepared for significant noise both early in the morning and late at night. Be randomly arranged units in 889 or 883 Collins st. the noise situation seriously affects the stay. There are several construction sites nearby, and work starts around 7 a.m. every day. The drilling and machinery noise is very loud, making it difficult to sleep in. At night, the problem continues as car enthusiasts often race along the nearby roads, and the engine revving can be extremely disruptive.

I am extremely satisfied this time. The entire hostel with great location, the rooms, kitchen, and bathrooms—was perfectly clean. In particular, it's quite rare for hostels to have private bathrooms in the rooms, and they clean them every day. The beds also have their own power outlets and reading lights, and they are very spacious, so I slept really well throughout the whole trip. Everyone staying here is highly disciplined, maintaining a very quiet and peaceful environment at night. When a minor misunderstanding arose, the management responded and handled it immediately, which I truly appreciate. However, the training for the part-time staff could be slightly improved. A bit of a worry to start with, as we would arrive outside of reception hours, but we eventually got the process sorted. The first room we had a key for had not been serviced since the previous occupants, so we refused. The out of hour contact number, immediately sorted the problem and provided a new room - which was clean and great for our needs. Good location in a quite area of Melbourne, good food to be found locally. Overall, I'd stay here again, just a shame that first impressions weren't great (but the stay ended up being fine)  

Lovely vibes, cool chill areas, community bar and community events plus the staff especially the lovely guy who booked me in was Amazing. However it's a very crappy old building with Nil working properly showers and broken toilets. I had 1 night in a nice female room which I barely even saw as I was out and Tried to rest at a 2nd booking being shoved into a mixed smelly weird noisy dorm on a top bunk with ****** knocking on the door at all hrs, one guy snoring and another twat on the phone I told off. Was stressful and I hadn't a Warm shower in a working functioning bathroom in 2 days. Not returning. If you like noisy rude tourists and old buildings with no lift carrying your bags everywhere and no showers, great!

Pros: 1. location close to city 2. breakfast on site 3. free parking Cons: no reception staff at 8am or after 6pm, the notice on wall is to 7pm, have to wait 10 mins for staff to come from somewhere bit of unclean in detail but acceptable for the price

Room was exactly as described and with Cooktop, microwave, and fridge did not need take out all the time. Staff at front desk were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. May not be the flashiest hotel but it is great value for money and in a great location with a tram stop right outside the front doors, would recommend this hotel.
