"After a long and tiring trip through Yunnan, I specifically canceled another booking and chose this hotel's king-size room for my last night in Kunming, hoping for a good rest. Little did I know, it would be the start of a nightmare. On March 22nd, I checked into room 602 at 5 PM, suffering from altitude sickness and desperate for an early rest. Just as I settled in, a series of intense hammering noises, seemingly right in front of the bed, jolted me awake. I initially thought it might be luggage being moved near the elevator, so I called the front desk and switched to room 1202. However, around 7 PM, the hammering noise started again, leaving me rattled and unable to sleep. I suspected it was the housekeeping carts hitting the wall opposite my bed. When I called the front desk, they said it was housekeeping staff organizing items and asked if they could be quieter so I could sleep. The response was that they would finish by 8 PM. Later, they called back to say they had asked the staff to be gentler, but the next morning, March 23rd, I was woken up by the hammering noise again around 7 AM.
Firstly, I paid nearly 500 yuan for a night, expecting a comfortable sleep, but it was worse than my previous 100-yuan-a-night experience. Secondly, I've never encountered housekeeping staff so roughly organizing items that they repeatedly hit the guest room walls with their carts. Don't they know this kind of noise severely affects the rest of guests on the other side of the wall?! Don't the staff know, and don't their supervisors instruct them? Thirdly, I've never experienced a situation where, after a complaint, the guest is told to tolerate it and wait for the staff to finish work before resting. This kind of backward thinking is unprecedented. Fourthly, the overall service awareness is extremely poor, from the front desk to housekeeping. No one seems to think that the sound of carts hitting walls would severely disturb guests' sleep and is a clear sign of poor service. The front desk staff only apologized after I repeatedly questioned them. How can a hotel with such backward thinking and lack of service awareness be rated as the top high-end hotel in the district? Although the hotel's breakfast is excellent and additional services are good, the most basic function of a hotel—providing a good night's sleep—was completely unfulfilled. I hope everyone avoids this hotel where you have to sleep on edge.
