We stayed at Kunming PAPMAN Hotel Wanda for our first night in Kunming, and honestly, it was by far the best hotel of our entire stay. We only stayed for one night and didn’t have a chance to explore the surrounding area, but the hotel itself was exceptional. The hotel occupies two floors within a larger building, so there isn’t direct access to the hotel lobby from the ground floor. However, the hotel contacted us in advance with clear instructions on where to meet them at the car park. The staff came down to meet us, helped with all our luggage and brought us up to the lobby. This could have been an inconvenience, but the level of service completely made up for it. The staff were incredibly attentive, warm and genuinely went above and beyond from the moment we arrived. The hotel itself is beautifully designed. Every corner was thoughtfully decorated and incredibly photogenic, and the overall aesthetic was stylish without compromising on comfort. Even our room was beautifully designed, comfortable and very well equipped, with lots of thoughtful amenities included. The views from the hotel were also lovely. Unfortunately, it was raining during our stay, so we didn’t get to properly enjoy or photograph the rooftop pool, which was a little disappointing — but it gives us another reason to come back! One of our favourite additions was the photoshoot. The hotel was incredibly accommodating and allowed us to arrange a much earlier photoshoot slot because we were short on time. The experience was so good that we ended up purchasing additional photos beyond the three included with our room. It was such a fun and memorable experience. Our room rate also included afternoon tea, although we arrived at night and unfortunately didn’t have the opportunity to try it. However, supper was included and was honestly one of the highlights. It was a combination of semi-buffet and made-to-order dishes, with a surprisingly good variety. Everything we tried was delicious, and there was more than enough food. It was such a nice and unexpected inclusion, especially after travelling all day. We were also celebrating our child’s birthday during our stay, and the hotel had thoughtfully prepared a birthday cake and a little present for him in advance. It was such a sweet and thoughtful touch, and really made us feel welcomed and looked after❤️ Overall, we were genuinely impressed by this hotel. From the beautiful design and comfortable rooms to the incredible service, thoughtful inclusions, photoshoot and birthday surprise, everything felt very well thought out. The service in particular really stood out — the staff were attentive, friendly and incredibly helpful throughout our short stay. We only stayed one night and didn’t leave the hotel during our stay, so unfortunately we can’t comment much on the surrounding area or its convenience for exploring Kunming. But based purely on our experience at the hotel, we would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it.

This is the second time I’ve booked this hotel and also the second time I’m impressed with the hotel service. I’ve touched down Kunming too early and since I’m tired from late night flight, I head straight to the hotel after I’ve landed although I understand check in cannot be so early. The concierge was nice to allow me and my partner to enjoy breakfast (we booked stay with breakfast) while waiting for guests to check out as their hotel was fully booked. Right after our breakfast, the concierge saw us and quickly chased up the cleaning staff to tidy up the room asap so guests can check in earlier. I appreciate their thoughtfulness in this and was lucky to check in in the morning although the stated check-in time is 2pm. I also appreciate the cleaning staff attentiveness to us as we prefer the room to be clean up every 2 days instead of daily. (We book 4 nights there). She keeps checking in with us as she is worried we run out of drinking water, tissue paper, toilet roll and clean towel almost every morning. On our last day, we came back to our room around late afternoon and she thoughtfully hang a laundry bag filled with drinking water bottles and even new pack of tissue on our door. (We leave do not disturb button on while we went out.) The hotel staff at lobby was also very attentive when we get out of Didi outside in the rain, he runs towards us with umbrella to shield us from rain. I also enjoy hotel breakfast very much as I arrived in Kunming with weak stomach and needed non spicy and easy food to ingest. They provided a great range of food that suits foreigners, children and even sick adults like me. Thank you Dianyu Yunling, I know I can trust this hotel’s service level and will return to this hotel again for my next Kunming trip!

This trip was a last-minute decision. I booked the hotel after 1 AM and was pleasantly surprised after landing and checking in. As someone who pays close attention to hotel details, especially since Kunming is always just a layover during my trips to Yunnan, I have to say Papman is truly amazing. First, the service: I received a fresh flower basket upon check-in, and the hotel butler was incredibly attentive, responding promptly to all my requests. They even sent a freshly made cake for our wedding anniversary, which was delicious and high-quality. Second, the room amenities: The vanity had a full box of soft facial tissues, makeup remover wipes, mouthwash, and laundry detergent. There was a Dyson hairdryer, and the shower had a dry/wet separation with push-button controls. Third, the hotel's decor: Every step revealed a beautiful view, and there were multiple tea rooms available for guests to use for free. The rooftop on the third floor offered spectacular photo opportunities. Walking around the hotel at night, I was delighted to see the shadow of a deer cast by the镂空灯 (镂空灯 - 'cut-out' or 'pierced' lamps). Fourth, the food: We received complimentary afternoon tea with tasty desserts, and the late-night snack selection was extensive, including rice noodles, fried potatoes, 'bao jiang' tofu, and grilled skewers. The salted peanuts, especially the Yunnan 'xiaohua' black peanuts, were excellent; I immediately asked if I could buy a can to take home. All in all, I'll definitely choose this place again on my next visit to Kunming!

The hotel upgraded our room type, which was very comfortable overall. Located on a high floor in Kunming city center, the hotel offers excellent views. It also has direct access to Hang Lung Plaza, making shopping very convenient. The only thing I would mention is that the front desk didn't inform us about the complimentary shopping mall vouchers during check-in. I only found out later through the platform and had to go back to inquire and collect them. Other facilities are beautiful and well-curated. The room was cleaned thoroughly, and they provided plenty of bottled water, which I really appreciated. The turndown service was also good. My suggestions for improvement would be that the conditioner was not moisturizing enough, and the eye mask was a bit tight on the ears. The breakfast selection was rich and everything tasted delicious. The only thing I need to point out is that on the first day, the female attendant who led us to our table seemed visibly annoyed because we took a few minutes to choose our seats instead of sitting down immediately. She also didn't offer us any drinks. I only realized later that we could order tea or coffee when I saw another staff member taking orders from newly arrived guests. When I asked her about it, she was clearly unhappy and just said, 'Order now.' This really put a damper on the experience. The male staff member we encountered on the second day, however, was excellent with great service and attitude. Therefore, the hotel should definitely strengthen its training to improve the overall quality of service and ensure consistency.

This garden hotel is absolutely stunning! The garden is like a huge energy field; a walk through it every evening recharges you. A big thank you to the lovely front desk lady who arranged a beautiful room with a direct view of the garden – it was so refreshing to open the window each day. The swimming pool is also fantastic! It's deep and spacious, with excellent water quality, making for a truly enjoyable swim. The room was cleaned promptly, and the housekeepers thoughtfully left four bottles of water, all neatly arranged! I was able to add the butler on WeChat, and during my five-night stay, I received fruit for three days, and two cans of coffee as a farewell gift! Our room rate included breakfast and dinner, and for all five nights, the food at the restaurant was consistently excellent! The Yunnan local dishes, in particular, were so delicious they almost brought tears to my eyes! The rice noodles were incredible, with four different types of toppings! I had rice noodles for both breakfast and dinner! The fruit selection was also abundant, with seven or eight varieties. I especially loved their freshly squeezed juices, particularly the cucumber juice. And they have an Indian chef whose flying bread and curry are simply divine! The location is superb! A short walk through Haigeng Hall leads you directly to Haigeng Dam, making it incredibly convenient to see the seagulls! Xishan and Haihong Wetland are also not far, perfect for a leisurely stroll. I hope to stay at InterContinental Hotel again on my next visit to Dianchi Lake. The quality and service far exceeded my expectations!

Extremely satisfied! The room facilities are excellent and very clean. The location is superb, just a little over a hundred meters walk to Cuihu Park, which is perfect for travelers with parents or children. When we checked out, we accidentally left an important bank card wallet in the room. The hotel staff contacted us immediately and went out of their way to get it back to us – we're truly grateful! Also, the late-night noodles at the hotel were a big hit with the kids.

Great vibes, full of energy - good for solo travelers Stayed at Cloudland International Youth Hostel in Kunming and loved the atmosphere. The good: The vibes here are amazing. Super energetic and social. There are activities almost every day so it’s easy to meet people. Staff are polite and helpful, always ready with recommendations. Location is really good — convenient to get to downtown and transport. For the price, it’s great value for money. Could improve: Hygiene can be improved a bit. Common areas and bathrooms are okay but not spotless. If you’re picky about cleanliness, bring slippers. Overall: Perfect if you want to make friends and have fun. Less ideal if you want a quiet, hotel-style stay. I’d come back for the people.

We love this hotel, despite some shortcomings. The location and facilities are beautiful and the food is teallly good. The restaurant service for some reason is dramatically chaotic, but we’ve gotten used to it. We had some inconsiderate guests in the room next to us who brought an entire barbecue set onto their balcony, stinking up our balcony and room. Sam was quick to move us to another room and was very apologetic. Hé is a true saving grace in this hotel. The recreation staff has also been very helpful and we had a lovely kayaking experience.

The inn's location is incredibly convenient, and it's spotlessly clean with no strange odors in the rooms. The common areas are also very spacious, featuring a study zone, dining area, a bar area, and a beautiful rooftop garden. You get a fantastic view overlooking Jinma Biji, which is stunning. The staff are super friendly and welcoming. I fell in love with this place on my first stay and will definitely be back!

Overall, everything from the location and facilities to cleanliness, ambiance, and service was excellent. Regarding some negative online reviews and the issues they raised, I'd like to share my actual experience. First, the room is divided into three areas by two steps: the entrance/bathroom area, the tatami bed area, and the desk/washbasin area. This is actually a fun and interesting design. However, because of the two steps, it might not be suitable for people with mobility issues, especially the elderly. So, if you're traveling with seniors, be mindful when choosing a room. Another point is the blinds, which are made of a linen-like material. They match the room's decor perfectly, creating a cozy feel, which is nice. But they don't block out much light. All in all, considering the price, location (in the central Xishan District, also quite close to Wuhua District), and facilities, I think it offers great value for money.
