Anonymous UserThis trip was a last-minute decision. I booked the hotel after 1 AM and was pleasantly surprised after landing and checking in. As someone who pays close attention to hotel details, especially since Kunming is always just a layover during my trips to Yunnan, I have to say Papman is truly amazing. First, the service: I received a fresh flower basket upon check-in, and the hotel butler was incredibly attentive, responding promptly to all my requests. They even sent a freshly made cake for our wedding anniversary, which was delicious and high-quality. Second, the room amenities: The vanity had a full box of soft facial tissues, makeup remover wipes, mouthwash, and laundry detergent. There was a Dyson hairdryer, and the shower had a dry/wet separation with push-button controls. Third, the hotel's decor: Every step revealed a beautiful view, and there were multiple tea rooms available for guests to use for free. The rooftop on the third floor offered spectacular photo opportunities. Walking around the hotel at night, I was delighted to see the shadow of a deer cast by the镂空灯 (镂空灯 - 'cut-out' or 'pierced' lamps). Fourth, the food: We received complimentary afternoon tea with tasty desserts, and the late-night snack selection was extensive, including rice noodles, fried potatoes, 'bao jiang' tofu, and grilled skewers. The salted peanuts, especially the Yunnan 'xiaohua' black peanuts, were excellent; I immediately asked if I could buy a can to take home. All in all, I'll definitely choose this place again on my next visit to Kunming!

Guest UserI specifically took time off to stay at this wellness hotel, and as soon as I walked in, the soothing scent of herbs and wood instantly calmed my frayed nerves. The overall decor is minimalist and zen-like, and the common areas are quiet and elegant. The hotel offers various wellness programs like yoga, meditation, and head therapy. The package includes free access to these activities, and there's no hard-selling involved. The soundproofing in the room is excellent, and the bedding is soft; it was completely quiet and peaceful at night. The staff spoke softly and gently, providing thoughtful and detailed service throughout my stay. Here, you don't have to rush through an itinerary; you can just unwind. All the stress from my week of work just melted away. It's truly perfect for a relaxing and restorative getaway.

Guest UserThe Grand Hyatt Kunming lived up to our expectations with its understated luxury and elegant decor. Our room was bright and spacious, with attention to detail evident throughout. The hotel is connected to Hang Lung Plaza, making it super convenient for dining, shopping, and getting around. Emily contacted us a day in advance to arrange our room, so we could check in early. She even upgraded our room and stayed in touch to offer assistance whenever needed, which was incredibly thoughtful. The Grand Hyatt will definitely be our top choice next time we're in Kunming! 👍👍👍

Perfect location in a walkable tree-lined neighborhood, where there are lots of upscale restaurants and bars and cafes. The hotel isn’t the newest and could use a touch-up in places but very interesting design, cool artwork in the lobby, huge rooms. A couple machines for laundry and gym on top floor. Service at the reception was super helpful. Breakfast is in a restaurant that is a German beer place during the day and night. Selection is modest but sausages and delicious broth and noodles, the bread could have been more fresh. Would stay here again.

PowaluodichideguoThis newly opened downtown hotel, built in 2025, is a gem! It's just a 3-minute walk to Kunming Old Street, Shuncheng, and Jinma Biji Archway. Plus, there are tons of amazing food options nearby, making it the perfect base for any food-loving adventurer.
The entire room features smart controls, and the bedding is incredibly comfortable. While the hairdryer isn't a Dyson, the Laifen is still excellent. We even received complimentary welcome fruit upon arrival, and the minibar is entirely free.
The concierge was proactive in helping with our luggage, and the views from our 28th-floor room, overlooking the city lights at night, were stunning. The 24-hour gym is a huge plus, allowing me to work out whenever I wanted – a truly thoughtful amenity.
Many star-rated hotels are still stuck with traditional satellite TV, so it was a delight to find that this one offers screen mirroring that works seamlessly. The smart entertainment system is a standout feature, and I give it a big thumbs up! (*≧∪≦)👍🏻
Now, let's talk about breakfast: The selection of Chinese and Western dishes is extensive, including many authentic Yunnan specialties. The rare pea flour, kumiss, five-color glutinous rice, and flower cakes were all outstanding and delicious. My only regret is not getting to try the Eggs Benedict – a slight disappointment.
The restaurant service was exceptional. The staff were friendly and attentive, proactively guiding us to our table. They even offered coffee to go, cleared plates promptly, and provided warm and thorough service throughout. This truly enhanced my experience.
Justin Liu deserves a special mention for his proactive enthusiasm and prompt responses. Five stars!

Anonymous UserThe hotel lobby is beautifully designed and grand, with a distinct Southeast Asian flair. The rooms are quite spacious and well-equipped. We were traveling with our 2-year-old, so the kids' play area was incredibly useful, and there was a fire show in the evening. The best part was definitely the delicious breakfast. Dianchi Lake is nearby; we took a taxi with our little one to ride the cable car, which was very convenient and not tiring at all. I'd highly recommend this hotel to any out-of-town friends visiting Kunming. P.S. The only minor drawback is that the rooms are a bit dated, but it didn't really bother us.

Guest UserThe room was clean and tidy, with relatively new facilities, including a smart toilet, a separate shower, and a dry-wet separation which was great 👍. There was also a refrigerator in the room. A special shout-out to the front desk and the rooftop restaurant. The front desk staff were enthusiastic and provided excellent service. The complimentary flower cake was delicious and not too sweet, and bottled water was provided endlessly. The rooftop restaurant offered a rich breakfast and delicious rice noodles for supper, along with ice cream 🍦. Overall, a great experience 👍

Traveling solo in Kunming, my stay at Old Big Foot International Youth Hostel completely exceeded my expectations – it's truly an ideal haven for backpackers!
The location is absolutely unbeatable. Just a few steps out the door is Zhuanxin market, where I could get everything from tofu rice noodles and Dai-style snacks to fresh fruit in one go. It's also not far from the subway station, making it super easy to get to all the major attractions around the city. The hostel itself has a courtyard bursting with bougainvillea, and you'll find traveler messages and map check-in walls everywhere. The downstairs bar is perfect for sunbathing during the day, and for listening to music and chatting at night, sometimes with guests playing guitar – it's such a gentle and therapeutic atmosphere.
The accommodation details are incredibly thoughtful. Every bed has a full blackout curtain, creating a private little space when drawn. The bedding was clean and odorless, there was 24-hour hot water, and the cleaning staff tidied regularly, so the bathrooms were completely free of any smells. They provide lockable lockers and self-service washer and dryer machines, so no worries about valuables or laundry. The front desk staff were incredibly patient, offering detailed recommendations for local tours and free luggage storage. Their 24-hour presence made me, as a solo female traveler, feel completely safe.
It's really easy to meet like-minded travel companions here. There are plenty of activities like billiards, movie nights, and city walks, so you never have to worry about feeling lonely. The prices are affordable, the facilities are comprehensive, and the atmosphere is warm. It's perfect whether you're staying for a short visit or just passing through. I wholeheartedly recommend it to solo travelers who enjoy a lively, authentic vibe!

Guest UserThe hotel environment is fantastic, right next to Yulongwan Park. There's a small path leading to the back entrance of the park, and it's lush with greenery, making the air really fresh. The front desk staff (especially the young lady) was super friendly and provided excellent service. The room was spacious, and all the drinks in the minibar were complimentary. It also had a balcony, perfect for soaking up the sun and enjoying a cup of tea – super relaxing!

The common areas are also very spacious, featuring a study zone, dining area, a bar area, and a beautiful rooftop garden. You get a fantastic view overlooking Jinma Biji, which is stunning. The staff are super friendly and welcoming. I fell in love with this place on my first stay and will definitely be back!
