Hotels near Novena, Singapore

Went through the pretty complicated and troublesome steps in checking in and getting the digital key and a physical room card key {just in case} at the reception and finally only gotten to my room where the air conditioner was not working..alas! Called reception several times but no one answered. Had to go down again to the reception and asked for help! The staff said he would get the people in charge to fix it. I was told that it would take about 15~20 minutes. I then asked to change to another room instead! This time I just asked for the physical room card key instead to save all the trouble! I guess the Checking In App was not so useful after all! Sighhhhh.. Had to go back to the room to get my stuff and then went to the new room to settle my stuff and then went back to the reception again to return the previous physical room key! Done all that all by myself! I was pretty upset and annoyed but was rather calm and didn’t show it! Mentioned it to the rather nonchalant staff at the reception that it had cost me much time and inconvenience! It was a world of difference when I last stayed in March last year! The staff at the reception, Wing Kei’s service was impressive and impeccable! I guess he is now no longer there anymore! That was such a pity! All else were still acceptable for a short stay. Thank you.

I love their spacious kitchen - where you can cook small items or heat up your food, and the loft bed in the room - where I have my own cozy little sleeping space to rest. The only turn off was that there were a lot of murmurs around downstairs from Indians loitering around at night, so it will be nice to bring your own noise reduction ear buds if you want to have a peaceful rest.

Great experience! Most Fragrance Hotels are on Balestier Road, and this one is significantly better than the Oasis across the street. The staff were also very friendly. I'd choose to stay here again if I come back.

Facilities: Excellent. Cleanliness: Good. The hotel is very clean and tidy. Environment: Good. The location is great, with convenient transportation, making it very easy to visit nearby attractions. You can take the bus to the airport, and both buses and subways are accessible. There are many dining options nearby. Service: Good.

We were a group of three and arrived around 4 am. Alex, the receptionist, was very helpful and made our check‑in smooth. He even upgraded our room, which turned out to be bigger than expected, spotless, and very comfortable. The room was cleaned every day, which made our stay even more pleasant. The location is convenient with a bus stop right in front of the hotel. Overall, we were very happy with our stay and would gladly return.

i can’t believe i had a great deep sleep, honestly. though the noise from the outside/hallways can be heard, it didn’t bother me that much since it just gets noisy when someone is checking-in or going out. it is also important to take note that the building does not have elevator and hair dryer. there is also a 1-minute walk bus station and stops at novena station. however, if you’re coming from novena station, you need to walk at least 12-16 minutes to reach the accommodation. overall, my experience is great and will surely check-in again if i needed a stay in singapore.

This hotel truly exceeded my expectations – incredible value for money! The location is particularly convenient; the subway station is just a short walk downstairs, making it super easy to get to all the attractions. Plus, there are tons of great food options nearby, with all sorts of authentic restaurants and local snacks. Whether you're looking for trendy spots or late-night eats, it's all right there. The room was clean and comfortable. For this price point, being able to stay in such a convenient location is something I genuinely recommend!

We stayed at this hotel for four nights and unfortunately experienced a persistent issue with the television in our room. From the first evening until checkout, the TV displayed nothing but static. There were no available channels at any point during our stay. On the first night, I called the front desk to report the problem. I was told that the entire hotel was experiencing signal reception issues. No alternative solution was offered, no apology was given, and the staff member ended the call in a manner I found discourteous. The following day, I raised the issue again with a different staff member at reception. I was assured that an engineer would be arranged to inspect the problem. However, the issue was never resolved, and it appears that no one actually attended the room. Spending four nights without any in-room entertainment facilities was disappointing and did not meet reasonable expectations for a hotel stay. However, I would like to commend the housekeeping staff. She was consistently polite, professional, and thorough in their cleaning. Her service was the only aspect of the stay that met a satisfactory standard.

1. The location is excellent, very close to the shopping malls on Orchard Road. Since we were traveling with elderly people and children, we took taxis everywhere to minimize walking. It took us until the third day to realize that exiting directly from the front door would lead us closer to the main shopping street. 2. The hotel facilities are quite old, and the rooms show their age. In room 330, where we stayed, the bathtub had a leaking pipe. We reported it to housekeeping, but nothing was done. Despite being old, the beds are very large. We booked a room with one king-size bed and one single bed, which was very accommodating for a family with two children, especially when traveling with seniors. There was plenty of space for everyone. The hotel has a peculiar smell; if you're sensitive to odors, I'd recommend requesting a room change early. 3. The hotel doesn't provide complimentary bottled water, but you can buy it at the front desk for S$2 a bottle, which is slightly cheaper than 7-Eleven. Most of the front desk staff speak English. I'm not sure if it's because we're Chinese, but when we checked in, Korean guests were given high-floor rooms, while we were assigned a very low room on the 3rd floor. The 3rd floor itself isn't a problem, but lower-floor rooms tend to have a smell. If this bothers you, it's best to mention it in advance. We arrived in Singapore past 2 AM, so we were too tired and just wanted to rest, so we didn't bother discussing it with the front desk. I had also requested 'no corner room' when booking, but we were given the very last room on the floor, so the request was completely ignored. 4. The hotel has a swimming pool, which is quite convenient, with two pools – one deep and one shallow. Overall, it offers good value for money, with large rooms and an excellent location. If you don't mind the potential odor on lower floors, the outdated facilities, and the somewhat average service, it's still a very cost-effective choice (especially since we were out all day and only returned to sleep at night).

The location of Value Hotel Balestier is quite nice and convenient, with easy access to nearby food places and transportation. However, the main downside of my stay was the restroom. It was noticeably smelly and had a strong unpleasant odor, similar to sewage or poop, which made using the bathroom uncomfortable. While the location is a plus, the cleanliness and smell of the restroom really need improvement.
