Hotels near Kanayama, Nagoya

Rating: 2/5 stars This hotel's biggest advantage is undoubtedly its prime location – it's just a short walk from Kanayama Station, making travel around the area extremely convenient. However, there are significant areas that need improvement. The room cleanliness was disappointing, with noticeable amounts of hair left on the toilet walls, which suggests inadequate cleaning protocols. Additionally, communication with staff proved to be quite difficult, creating frustration when trying to address concerns or ask for assistance.

The hotel is located very near to JR line. Excellent choice to stay at especially dragging large luggages around the city to get to the train station. An extra pillow would be good as it’s too flat for sleeping.

Very near Kanayama station & easy to find. Just head towards North exit/entrance of station (you’ll see Tully’s coffee) & you can see the big signage on top of hotel clearly. McDonald’s & Family Mart right below hotel & Lawson next to hotel. Impressive spread of toilettries including sachets of makeup remover, face wash, lotion & moisturiser, show caps, hairband, thermal eye mask, toothbrush, shaver, comb, etc. Provide bottled water in addition to kettle. There’s also a mini fridge. Plenty of eateries & pharmacy around the hotel, including a small supermarket across the hotel. Buffet breakfast is decent too. Overall very comfortable stay.

The hotel has a new and an old wing. My discounted room was in the old wing, so the facilities were a bit dated. Nevertheless, the Meitetsu property was still very well-equipped with everything I needed, and it was spotlessly clean. Its proximity to Kanayama Station made visiting the aquarium very convenient. The front desk staff were also very friendly.

This is an older hotel, and while it shows its age a bit, it's incredibly well-maintained and spotlessly clean. It's perfectly situated at Kanayama Station, one of Nagoya's major transportation hubs. You can take the Meitetsu line directly from the airport, and other subway lines offer easy access to various Nagoya attractions. Right outside, you'll find an art museum, convenience stores, and a wide array of restaurants. It offers excellent value for money.

The hotel is nice and clean, and the staff is very friendly. But our choice of hotel wasn't very logical. We arrived from Nagoya to visit the Toyota Museum for a day and were leaving for Tokyo the next day. Overall, it ended up being a hassle to get to the hotel after the Shinkansen, then back, and then to the museum, which involved transfers. I then chose a traditional-style room for a change, but sleeping on the floor was a bit hard. The hotel is conveniently located near the train station. Those are my mistakes, not the hotel's.

I was hesitant after reading the reviews, but since it was the end of the year and prices were high everywhere, this was the cheapest option, so I decided to stay here for one night. Amenities: Toothbrush, cup, razor, comb, shampoo, conditioner, body soap. No basic skincare, so bring your own if you need it. Room: The wallpaper had been repainted, the air conditioning worked well, and the room had a bathtub, shower, and toilet, which was nice. However, the toilet didn't have a washlet, so the seat was very cold. I purchased a disposable toilet seat mat at Seria near Kanayama Station. The room's slippers were cloth, and although I'm not particularly picky, I couldn't wear them, so I purchased disposable slippers at Seria and used them instead. The furniture was old, but I didn't use them, so it didn't bother me. The hair dryer had a strong airflow and the shower had good pressure, so I was satisfied. There was some noise from doors opening and closing on the same floor, but it wasn't particularly bothersome. The view was nice. Kanayama Station or Higashi Betsuin Station are the closest, but it was less than a 10-minute walk from Kanayama Station. There was a Family Mart and a 7-Eleven along the way. The beds were clean, which was nice. There was a water heater like a Tefal. You'll need to buy water.

This time, for my stay in Nagoya, I chose the Toyoko Inn Nagoya Kanayama, and overall, my experience was incredibly satisfying. The hotel's location is super convenient, just a few minutes' walk from the station, making it easy to get to downtown Nagoya for sightseeing or to Centrair (Chubu Centrair International Airport). The surrounding area also has great amenities, with convenience stores and restaurants aplenty, which is a thoughtful location for travelers. The room, while not large, was very clean and tidy. The moment I walked in, I could feel the usual Japanese hotel sense of freshness and order. The bed was soft and comfortable, and the pillow height was just right, allowing me to sleep soundly until morning. Although the bathroom was compact, it was fully equipped; the hot water came quickly, and the water pressure was stable, making showers even more comfortable than at home. What pleasantly surprised me was that they offer free breakfast! Although it's a buffet, there's a good variety, from rice balls, miso soup, sausages, and salad to coffee – everything you need, and the taste was quite good too. Especially that warm bowl of miso soup; having a sip in the morning instantly gave me that 'I'm ready to tackle today!' feeling (laughs). The staff were also excellent, always smiling, patient, and thorough whether I was checking in or asking for directions, giving a real sense of being welcomed. The overall value for money is very high, and I highly recommend it for both business trips and leisure travel. In summary, the Toyoko Inn Nagoya Kanayama is a great hotel that offers a reassuring stay, satisfying food, and a good night's sleep. If I had to give a score, I wouldn't hesitate to give it full marks, and I'd secretly add a 'visit again' praise in my mind.

The place was okay — a bit small, but overall manageable. The front desk staff were helpful and accommodating, which we appreciated. However, we had an unpleasant experience with one of the crew members. A lady from the staff approached us to tell the children to close the door and keep their voices down, but her manner was unexpectedly intense. Her facial expression was angry, and her tone felt aggressive, as if she was ready to confront us rather than calmly address the situation. We completely understand the need for rules and respect for shared spaces, especially regarding noise — but there are ways to handle it professionally and politely, especially when speaking to families with children. A respectful and calm approach would have made a big difference

Overall, the Nagoya Nishiki Urban Hotel offers great value for money. The front desk staff are friendly and enthusiastic, and the cleaning ladies are also very nice. It's a real shame that the shower head in the bathroom has been changed; the old one was so comfortable with many modes, but this new replacement is very basic. The same goes for the air purifier; the old one had a large water tank that lasted several nights, but I'm not a fan of the current one, which isn't enough for Japan's dry weather. However, after staying here for several days, I still feel that the hotel is excellent. 👍
