Vignette Collection HAIKOU YATTER HOTEL by IHG

The mattress has a soft and a firm side, which was perfect for my back problems! The water pressure in the bathroom shower was excellent – super good! The personalized service was exceptional; Sherry, the Assistant Manager in the lobby, deserves special praise. She noticed I hadn't come to the restaurant for breakfast one day and proactively messaged me to ask if I needed breakfast delivered to my room. It truly made me feel at home! The buffet restaurant's service was just okay, and the food quality could be improved.

Atour Hotel Haikou Wanguo Metropolitan Qilou Old Street

Excellent

I had a pleasant stay at Atour Hotel Haikou Wanguo Metropolitan Qilou Old Street. Prior to arrival, I requested an early check-in as well as a high-floor room away from the lifts if possible, and the hotel accommodated both requests perfectly. The room was located on a high floor and offered a fantastic 270-degree panoramic view, which was undoubtedly the highlight of my stay. The front desk team was exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout. Special thanks to Front Desk Manager 䞇新, team member ćčžæ€Ą, and the rest of the team, who went above and beyond in assisting with the collection of multiple parcels before my arrival. Their proactive assistance and warm hospitality were greatly appreciated. Communication was also very convenient, as the front desk was highly responsive via WeChat and quick to assist whenever needed. Some feedback during the stay: The room itself had a somewhat unconventional layout, likely due to the building's structure and the corner positioning required to achieve the panoramic view - totally understandable and appreciate the Front Desk for explaining it to me upon my arrival. From previous reviews, I had expected the room to feature smart controls (possibly Xiaodu, heated/automated toilet bowl as seen on other reviews), but I was not briefed on any smart room functions during check-in and could not seem to activate them myself. This was not a major issue, but a brief introduction during check-in or a simple user guide in the room would have been helpful. The panoramic view was absolutely stunning, especially during the day and around sunset. One thing to note, however, is that the floor-to-ceiling windows allow a significant amount of sunlight into the room. On particularly sunny days, the room could feel quite warm even with the air-conditioning running at full blast. Blackout curtains are provided, of course, but drawing them somewhat defeats the purpose of enjoying such a spectacular view. Breakfast was decent, offering a reasonable variety of options, although nothing particularly stood out. It was perfectly adequate for starting the day, but not one of the hotel's main highlights. One small observation regarding housekeeping: on my third morning, while I was heading out for breakfast, a housekeeper casually asked me in the corridor whether I was ”still staying today.” I understood that she was likely trying to confirm whether the room required servicing or whether I would be checking out, but the phrasing felt a little awkward. A more guest-friendly way of asking might create a better impression. A couple of other points worth noting: sound insulation around the room doors could be improved, as neighbouring room doors closing could be quite noticeable. In addition, the room door requires a firm push to shut completely; otherwise, an alarm will sound. There were also some mosquitoes around the hotel premises, although the room was thoughtfully equipped with an electronic mosquito repellent. The hotel's location is reasonably convenient, but it is worth noting that it is not quite as close to Qilou Old Street and some of the nearby attractions as I had initially expected. While the area is technically walkable, Haikou's heat and humidity can make the walk feel much longer and less pleasant, especially during the day. In practice, I often found myself opting for Didi (online-hailing app)instead. Not a major drawback, but something to keep in mind if you plan to explore the area primarily on foot Overall, the excellent service, responsive staff, and spectacular panoramic view made for a very enjoyable stay. Despite a few minor quirks, I would happily stay here again on a future visit to Haikou.

Novotel Haikou West Coast

I stayed at Novotel Haikou West Coast for 6d5n. There are a few ways to travel from Haikou Meilan Airport to the hotel. The most convenient option is definitely taking Didi. The ride usually takes around 40–50 minutes depending on traffic, and the total fare is approximately RMB 70+. Another option is taking the railway. You would first need to buy a railway ticket to Haikou Railway Station, which costs around RMB 10 and wait for the departure time. After arriving at Haikou Railway Station, you will have to take Didi to the hotel for around RMB 15. There are also buses available, although I did not personally try this option during my trip. The hotel provides free laundry facilities including washing machines, dryers, detergent, and even disinfectant for laundry use. Everything worked properly and the dryer actually dried the clothes well, which was very convenient for travellers. The room was spacious and comfortable. The pillow and bed were cozy, the air-conditioning worked very well, and the room felt warm and relaxing. Daily housekeeping replenished 2 bottles of mineral water and 3 complimentary beverages (sparkling water, Coke, and milk), which was a nice touch. The staff were also accommodating. They allowed me to extend my checkout by 2 hours, which normal check out timing is at 12pm. (additional late checkout charges at rmb40/hr). I am staying at level 4 (total there are 5 levels). I was lucky enough to get a room on the same floor as the gym and laundry area, which made everything very convenient. In terms of location, I think it depends on the purpose of your stay. If your main plan is visiting attractions in the city area every day, this may not be the most convenient option as travelling usually takes around 30–40 minutes by car and each trip can cost around RMB 30+ – 40+ depending on traffic. However, if you are looking for a relaxing hotel stay near the west coast area, this hotel is actually a very good choice. One thing to note is that there are not many eateries nearby. The nearest convenient shopping mall area is called Yuanda (well known one), where you can find restaurants, supermarkets, and snacks. You can take didi there at Rmb 5 to 10 or you can walk there also, but I dont suggest. The only downside for me was that I occasionally noticed cigarette smoke smell in some common areas, and there was a slight dried seafood/damp smell when I return to my room after a day, which may be related to the coastal location but there is a ventilation in the room . Overall, I had a pleasant stay at this hotel. *Sorry for the photo quality. I only recorded videos of the room during my stay, so these are screenshots taken from the videos.

This hotel experience was fantastic! The room was spacious and bright, with brand-new, smart facilities. The bedding was incredibly comfortable; I slept like a baby. The staff were warm and attentive, and the breakfast was rich and delicious. The pool was the cherry on top, and there's also a large dog-walking garden that's absolutely stunning at sunset.

Facilities: The hotel is very new and has all the necessary amenities. There's a washing machine, gym, and restaurant. The environment is excellent, tastefully decorated in a vintage and Nanyang style. The bedding is very comfortable; the mattress is just right, not too soft or too hard. Each bed comes with two types of pillows, so guests who prefer either soft or firm pillows will find one that suits them – that's a huge plus! The 4th-floor restaurant also serves great food, making it possible to spend the entire day at the hotel without needing to go out. Cleanliness: All tables in the room, including those in the bathroom, were very clean. Service: The front desk staff wasn't overly enthusiastic, but they did handle everything I needed them to, so it was fine. The airport transfer driver was nice and quite chatty. Airport pick-up/drop-off service: Having the airport transfer service was truly hassle-free, and the vehicles provided were new and comfortable.

Let me just say upfront, I'm not a shill, but out of all the hotels I've stayed at, Mission Hills Haikou's service definitely ranks among the top. Every single staff member has an exceptionally great attitude; almost everyone proactively greets you. The lobby staff were particularly excellent – they arranged breakfast and kids' club access for my child and even upgraded our room. Both the hotel's soft and hard amenities are top-notch, and the breakfast is incredibly rich and definitely deserves praise. I'll definitely stay at Mission Hills Haikou again next time I'm in Haikou.

For this price, there's nothing to complain about at this hotel. They even offer a complimentary shuttle to the duty-free shop. I specifically took photos of the breakfast this morning because both the adults and kids thoroughly enjoyed it. As we were leaving, I opened the door to find a welcome fruit basket hanging there – such a thoughtful touch! The front desk staff, particularly a young man named Dalin, provided exceptionally attentive and considerate service. I also want to give a special shout-out to the cleaning staff. I noticed over the past two days that after we finished our takeout meals, we'd leave the rubbish outside the door, and it would be collected incredibly quickly. The overall service mindset here is outstanding.

This is a four-star hotel, and admittedly, some of the facilities are a bit old. When I arrived in Haikou, it had just rained, and there was a musty smell in the room and corridors, which was a bit off-putting. However, everything else was quite good. What stood out was that the shower water was natural hot spring water, and you could even enjoy the hot springs from 2 PM to 10 PM daily. For a room rate of just over 100 RMB, it's truly excellent value for money. Plus, the hotel is located right in the old town, full of local charm and a lively atmosphere. I'd definitely choose to stay here again next time I'm in Haikou.

I’d been looking at this hotel for a while and finally booked it. It’s definitely a great option for families. What really stood out was the swimming pool, which is divided into several areas, and that’s fantastic! One area has a large water slide and operates from 1-5 PM on weekdays. On Saturdays and Sundays, it's open in the morning too. Then there’s a diving pool perfect for younger kids that opens at 8:30 AM, which is great for an early dip. And finally, there's a lap pool with lanes. So, it really caters to a variety of needs, which I found excellent. The butler service was also top-notch. They checked in daily to see if we needed anything or had any issues, and they were always quick to resolve them. Plus, when our flight was delayed today, they proactively offered a late checkout until 3 PM. We didn't actually need it, but the fact that they offered without us asking shows how thoughtful and great they are. The hotel also offers a travel photoshoot with 5 free photos. If you’re good at photography yourself, you can just pick those 5. Their photographers do a good job too. However, considering how hot it was, I felt a bit bad for the photographer, so I ended up choosing 5 extra photos. They even gave me one more for free, but the price wasn't cheap; 6 photos cost 200 RMB. Overall, it’s still a good deal. If you’re confident in your own photography skills, just choosing the 5 free ones is perfectly fine. They don't force you to spend extra; it's all optional, which is great.
