This is an old, established hotel in Hong Kong, and while it's been around for a while, its location and room size are definite strong points. The breakfast and evening cocktails at the Horizon Club offer exceptional value and quality, especially for Hong Kong.
Tony, who handled our check-in on the 20th floor of the Horizon Club, left a particularly deep and positive impression. His professionalism and service attitude were outstanding, perfectly showcasing the expertise and high standards expected of a five-star hotel employee. His gentle smile and warm demeanor truly enhanced our trip to Hong Kong.
However, there were also some negative experiences. On September 7th, a young female usher at the breakfast restaurant on the second floor had a very cold attitude. After we told her our room number in Chinese, she acted as if she didn't understand. Only after we repeated it in English did she acknowledge us, leading us to our table expressionlessly. Ironically, when she asked what we wanted to drink, she spoke fluent Chinese.
I lived in London for two years, and even British service staff wouldn't have an attitude like hers. Furthermore, Hong Kong has been reunited with China for 20 years; if she can't even understand a room number, it suggests she's not suited for service work in a hotel. I don't understand why the Shangri-La Hong Kong would employ such staff. I will also be sending an email to Shangri-La headquarters to complain.

★★★★☆ Great Location & Spacious Rooms, but Some Amenities Need an Upgrade
The location is definitely the biggest strength of Royal Plaza Hotel Hong Kong. I would give it 5 stars for convenience—it is directly connected to MOKO, which makes it extremely convenient for last-minute shopping, dining and picking up anything you may need. It is also just a short walk from Mong Kok East MTR Station, making it easy to get around Hong Kong.
The room was surprisingly spacious by Hong Kong standards, which was a definite plus for our family. I had accidentally selected the wrong room type when making the booking, but the hotel staff were prompt and helpful when I requested to change from the upgraded King Bed room to a room with two double beds. As the family rooms were already fully booked, they arranged a handicap-accessible room for us instead. It was actually more spacious, so while it wasn't the room type I had originally intended to book, we appreciated the effort to accommodate our needs.
That said, some of the in-room amenities could use an upgrade. In particular, the hairdryer really needs replacing. It became extremely hot very quickly and was uncomfortable to use—I was concerned it might damage or burn my hair.
Overall, I found the hotel comfortable, convenient and well located, with good service and generous room space for Hong Kong. However, having stayed five nights at Intercity Hotel Shenzhen immediately before this, I found Royal Plaza to be a step down in terms of the overall room experience and amenities. This is not to say that Royal Plaza is a poor choice—it is still a solid option, particularly if location, shopping convenience and room size are your priorities.

We stayed at BP International for two nights in the family room as a family, and overall our stay was very pleasant, mainly thanks to its fantastic location. This hotel has an unbeatable spot for travellers visiting Hong Kong. It is easily accessible from West Kowloon Station, which made our arrival and departure stress-free. We did not need to take long taxi rides or navigate complicated public transport after getting off the high-speed rail.
The neighbourhood around the hotel is full of tourist attractions and plenty of dining options. There are countless restaurants, cafes and local eateries just a short walk away, so we never struggled to find meals at any time of day. Conveniently, Jollibee is only two blocks from the hotel entrance, which was a great quick meal option for our family after long days sightseeing. It was wonderful to step outside and immediately have access to food and shops, saving us lots of travel time.
While the location was excellent, we did notice a few drawbacks with the room. As expected for Hong Kong accommodation, the family room felt a little small. There was limited floor space once our luggage was unpacked, and moving around was a bit tight. The bunk bed was also not as practical as we hoped. Climbing up and down the double-deck bed was awkward, especially for the older family members in our group. It saved space, but convenience was compromised.
On the bright side, the cleanliness, service and location all deserve full marks. The room was immaculately cleaned every day, and the hotel staff were polite, helpful and responsive whenever we needed assistance. The amenities were solid overall, though there is room for minor improvements.
For families prioritising convenience and location, BP International is a great pick. If you are okay with a compact room and a less convenient bunk bed, this hotel offers amazing access to West Kowloon and all the nearby sights and restaurants. The transportation is inconvenient. The hotel's earliest shuttle bus is at 7:30 AM, which isn't that early. It leaves promptly, and for mainland tourists who don't understand Cantonese, the service in Hong Kong can be impatient. They just blurt everything out in Cantonese, and you can't understand or react in time. Later, I learned my lesson. Without them even prompting me, I'd just stand by the door and hop on any bus I saw. The first time, the bus left right in front of me, and I had to take a taxi, which made me very angry. Getting an invoice at the end was also a hassle. Initially, they told me I could get one, but when I was leaving, they refused. They told me to contact the Ctrip platform, but I had already paid the full amount in cash upon check-in, so the platform definitely wouldn't issue it. We argued for quite a while before they finally gave it to me, wasting my morning. This hotel's transportation is extremely inconvenient. However, there was another, slimmer male staff member who had an excellent attitude. The yoga mats also look quite old. In a detail-oriented city like Hong Kong, I wouldn't expect this... Our stay at Harbour Grand Kowloon exceeded expectations. Located in Hung Hom Whampoa, the hotel offers a peaceful retreat while still being within walking distance of the MTR station. The sea-view room with its floor-to-ceiling windows offered breathtaking day and night views of Victoria Harbour. The room itself was spacious and clean, and the bedding was incredibly comfortable. The staff were all warm and polite. The rooftop infinity pool provided an amazing ambiance for enjoying the night views. I saw the Black Diamond Wow Privilege and it was my child's birthday, so I thought I'd try the Rosewood Hong Kong, which I've long heard is the best. We stayed for two nights. First, I'd say the check-in experience was quite good. I booked two rooms, one with a Kowloon view and one with a sea view, and requested they be on the same floor in advance. Trip.com customer service followed up, and indeed, we got rooms on the same floor. However, we didn't receive the room upgrade mentioned in the Wow Privilege. We checked in at 4 PM, and the rooms were ready with a handwritten welcome letter and a fruit platter (three oranges) in each. I didn't mention my child's birthday during check-in, so we didn't get a birthday cake on their actual birthday. I feel the attention to detail in service was a bit lacking – a deduction for attentiveness. The hotel front desk also didn't mention the Wow Privilege or the option for a 2-hour late check-out. The staff's service attitude was excellent; they switched seamlessly between English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. Breakfast was semi-buffet style, with some items for self-service and others to order from a menu. Although the variety wasn't extensive, the food was well-prepared and delicious. My only slight disappointment was that the wonton noodles on the first day were amazing, but when I ordered them again on the second day, they were significantly less impressive, with a bland and tasteless broth. The hot waffles were delicious both days 😋. The turndown service every night was excellent, and the room cleaning was very thorough. During our stay, we also tried the spa, pool, and gym, all of which I highly recommend.FromTHB 29,784

In space-constrained Hong Kong, the Grand Hyatt's rooms are remarkably spacious and comfortable. While the food is pricey, the quality is top-notch. The staff are warm, friendly, and excellent. Excellent hotel! We were incredibly satisfied. Delicious breakfasts, pleasant staff who will help with any question. The location is right in the center, within walking distance of the metro (7 min), and many attractions. The restaurant on the ground floor is fantastic, definitely try the steak, it's finger-licking good! The gym is open 24 hours, and there's a pool with a superb view. Clean, tasty, convenient. I read some reviews before booking, and many mentioned issues with the facilities. However, my actual stay exceeded my expectations. It's a rare sea-view room, and the room facilities are all very new. There's even a small speaker, so you can play music if you want. There are charging cables on the desk, placed quite casually, so I didn't notice them at first. The only thing is the hotel's price changes so quickly, sometimes several times a day, which is why I stayed elsewhere for the first few days of this trip.
