"If I hadn't had to wait until two hours after checking out to leave a review, I'd have been absolutely furious. First, this hotel doesn't offer a luggage shuttle service to and from the parking lot. We drove a long way during the National Day holiday, got stuck in traffic for half an hour at the city gate to reach the parking lot. We saw other cars from the same area just park, and immediately two electric carts (one for luggage, one for people) showed up to pick up their stuff. By the time we parked in the front courtyard and got out, they were gone. Also, the hotel staff who were supposed to pick up luggage from Chenghuang Temple couldn't clearly explain where to meet. But we weren't going to let that last 100 meters bother us; we were still full of energy after finally getting into the city, so we just dragged our luggage to the hotel ourselves. (Before we left, I had asked the proprietress what the point of a 100-meter luggage pick-up was, and she said it was because there were a lot of people.) **Cleanliness:** As shown in the photos, if you can accept some imperfections, it's generally fine, no major issues. **Environment:** As shown in the photos, it's antique and very distinctive. The location is unbeatable, quiet yet central. **Service:** The service was the absolute worst. It's miles behind other hotels on Ctrip, even for similar prices. It advertised a Hanfu experience, but from the moment we checked in until we left, no one even mentioned it. On the afternoon of the second day, I finally asked the owner, who seemed guilty and said he needed to check the order (why didn't you check when you handed over the room card?). Nothing came of it, but thankfully we weren't really interested anyway. My kid went to ask how much a set cost, and they said 298 yuan. Honestly, we weren't interested (and that's definitely not the real price), outside, they're marked 38-88 yuan, and there are plenty of vendors. What kind of special styling can you possibly do in this small place? I guess all the good reviews are from people who actually tried it. At one point, I overheard the proprietress complaining that this year was worse than last year, and they still had empty rooms. I thought to myself, with service like this? We stayed for two nights, and I decided I wouldn't recommend it to friends, nor would I ever come back. If you want to go somewhere, find a highly-rated place on Ctrip with excellent service. You want to feel comfortable; isn't good service what you're looking for when you travel?"

"This is one of the largest guesthouses in the ancient city, featuring three courtyards. It's very new and beautiful, having been newly renovated at the end of 2024, despite having been in operation for over 20 years prior. Since outside vehicles aren't allowed within Pingyao Ancient City, the hotel provides a complimentary shuttle for pick-up and drop-off, and even reimbursed our parking fees outside the city when we left. After a tiring day of sightseeing, we enjoyed coffee, afternoon tea, and snacks back at the hotel. The breakfast was exquisite, offering a chance to try local specialties like Pingyao beef, wantuo, youcha, and guoyourou all at once. Its location near the North Street of the ancient city means you can reach the core area within a 10-minute walk."
