GGuest UserA lovely traditional courtyard hotel with lots of character right in the heart of the old city within walking distance to everything you would want to see. The owner speaks good English and provides you with a map and details of beautiful Pingyao’s must see local attractions. The hotel is quiet and the Chinese breakfasts with either tea or coffee are delicious. The owner can also organise a good driver for any out of town excursions. Highly recommended

EEcoopThis has been our favourite stay in china by far! The owner is so generous and patient despite our lack of Chinese language skills, he even brought us gifts and picked us up and dropped us off at the train station. The residence is also part of the Pingyao world heritage site, we really enjoyed seeing the similarities between fans residence and the buildings presented in the museums around Pingyao (this place has much comfier beds). The traditional Chinese breakfast was also amazing, with veges, steam buns and egg. It’s in a perfect location, out of the noise of the main streets but also an easy stroll to the lively parts of town. I will recommend Fanzhai to anyone that will listen 😁

We booked two rooms together. The owner helped us with our luggage at the entrance of the old town. Upon entering, he offered us homemade wine and vinegar to try, which we found quite nice. The rooms were nice, with a rest area on the first floor and a sleeping area on the second. I would definitely choose this place again next time I visit.

GGuest UserThe guesthouse has an elegant and clean environment. The owner's travel guide was excellent and saved us from many pitfalls. The breakfast included homemade steamed buns and delicious cold dishes. Highly recommended!

OMG #besthotelever!!! We felt like a Ming dinasty princesses (and we actually were 💅). The hotel staff was so nice they gave us a free room upgrade to the most luxurious one and gave us a free ride from inside the town to the train station (mind that inside the ancient town normal taxies or didi can not enter). The building in general is very traditional and charming in a small alley far away from the crowds (very cutesty very demure) If you're young and beautiful and want to feel like Paris Hilton in the 00's you should definetly rent traditional hanfu female clothing (*but to pull it off you must have the queer slay if not desist). Trust me everyone in the city will want to take a picture with you and they'll get in line.

It’s very good! Super clean, bed was comfortable and with nice blanket. The room doesn’t get too cold with the heating on The owner is super cute, he speaks a bit of English and he gave me water both days I was there! It’s a bit outside the old town part but it’s only 10-15 minutes walking Good point is it’s close to the main gate so if you come by bus or if you need a taxi to the station that’s very convenient

The hotel accepts foreigners. The location is good, relatively close to the ancient town, and about 2 KM from Pingyao station. It's also convenient if you're going to Zhenguo temple, as the bus going there stops nearby. The place itself is a bit in the middle of nowhere (a bit difficult to find, but look for the signs), but there are a few shops and eateries nearby. The room was clean, and sufficiently large. However, do note that you don't get anything except for the room (i.e. no towel, no toiletries etc.). Also the homestay is literally opposite from the railway tracks, so you're going to hear trains all the time. It's tolerable if you close the window, but do note that there's no air-conditioning, so it's going to be a problem in Summer. That said, it's extremely cheap, so even with all the issues, it's still great value for money.
