RRach316I had a truly wonderful stay at this charming courtyard hotel in Pingyao, a perfect 10/10 experience. Although it’s a small property with only about 6–8 rooms, everything about it feels thoughtfully done and beautifully presented. The hotel is newly renovated, with tasteful decorations that blend traditional character with a fresh, comfortable atmosphere.
What impressed me the most was the owner. He is incredibly friendly, warm, and genuinely helpful, his service goes far beyond expectations. From the moment I arrived, I felt well taken care of, and his sincerity really made the stay special.
Location is superb! The room was spotless, one of the cleanest I’ve experienced. I actually walked around and looked at a few other motels in Pingyao, and I can confidently say this one stands out as the best in terms of cleanliness, comfort, and overall quality. On top of all that, the price is very reasonable for what you get. It’s rare to find a place that offers such great value together with such heartfelt hospitality. Highly, highly recommended , I would definitely stay here again.

GGuest UserWe had the best stay at Elswhwere Hotel West Gate. The building is restored it the nicest way really gives you the feeling of timetravel. The people working in the hotel, were carrying and welcoming. They explained us how to navigate the city, helped us buy tickets for the city sights, recommend restaurants and we even got a room upgrade and lovely gifts to take home and remember our time in Pingyao.
The bed was so comfortable and we had the best sleep. Can recommend this hotel full heartedly. Would definitely come back! Thank you Helen and Fenny for making our stay so memorable.

MM445315****Come to Pingyao to play, it is estimated that this is a newly opened hotel. The environment facilities have nothing to say. It is very clean and spacious. The hotel is convenient to go anywhere next to the ancient city. There are snack streets next to various restaurants to eat. The hotel service staff are also good. Everything is in place. Give me a good experience, and then Pingyao will live in his house! ! !

MMinnie MooOwner picked us up from the railway station in a Mercedes luxury vehicle free off charge. The perfect start.
The staff were super friendly and couldn't do enough for us.
This is a new hotel so everything was spotless.
For this price point it was great value.
Big rooms and fantastic bathroom. Great shower. The bed was a little hard as can be the case in Asia ( matress topper anyone 😸). Room was lacking a fridge and we suggested to the owner to put fridges in which he said he was planning to do 👍.
Location was perfect in the ancient town with plenty of attractions within walking distance.
The owners were fantastic and nothing was too much trouble for them.
Breakfast was not the best but I would still highly recommend this hotel.
PS make sure to see the ” Encore Pingyao” at the city theatre it is a truly amazing interactive show. Never seen anything quite like it WOW

The beautifully restored Qing-dynasty courtyard feels full of history, while the rooms come with modern touches like smart toilets, soft beds, and hairdryers. Everything is spotless, and the staff are genuinely kind and helpful. It’s slightly off the main street, which makes it quiet and relaxing, yet still within walking distance to all the sights. Mmaymaymay33A beautiful guesthouse, the rooms are beautiful too. Bed is big and comfy, very clean and the bathroom is modern despite how traditional the building is. Also has great heating if desired. The family that runs the guesthouse is so so sweet. Their food is also delicious and a great option for a quick breakfast (the buns are to die for). Excellent location. All in all would definitely come back and recommend this place.

GGuest UserWe stayed at thos lovely hotel. Lovingly restored by the current owner Mr Wang. He is the 6th generation owner of the property.
Until 10 years ago it was a derelict and dilapidated building. He poured money, time, blood, sweat and tears to restore it
And it does feel and look like a traditional house.
You feel you are going back in time.
Firstly the customer service is way beyond the call of duty. Its so good, i would recommend staying with mr Wang at whatever hotel he runs.
He picked us at the Lower East Gate, and brought us to the hotel, then took nearly half an hour to explain in great detail where we need to visit, whether the sights be in the city or outside the city.
Some of his suggestions, not on the tour books were very good . For example he suggested 3 restaurants, and we avoided them thinking he was getting a kickback.on our 4th and last day we tried restaurant no 2 of his. And it was good , the food and service were good. The prices were average with other restaurants and we got a 10% discount being the hotel's guests. And remember we had eaten 10 meals by the time we came to his suggestions.
Another suggestion of Mr Wang was Ma family home - also a very good tip from him.
Everytime we had a request or question he always responded with enthusiasm.
On our last day we checked out at 4am and he still took us to the pick up point at that ungodly hour.
Yep Mr and Mrs Wang's customer service is just first class.
The room was large, queen deluxe double, and the furnishings were traditional chinese furniture made of Rosewood. Very Expensive furniture for a hotel room. Shower worked well and was hot. However be aware its chinese style wet floor system ie there is no shower curtain between the shower and a small part of the bathroom does get wet if youare not careful. MR Wang said it will be one his improvement on his priority list. Hopefully by the time you booked the problem will have been resolved
The hotel is very close to the main streets. About 5 min walk.
The city of pingyao is worth visiting, it is one of the very walled cities left in China, with its old buildings intact and people still living it. All the city walls are also intact. Magnificent at night.

GGuest UserThis B&B in Pingyao is amazing! It has seven large courtyards (five entrances) and an elegant and grand environment. The owner is friendly and helpful, helping with discounts on tickets to nearby attractions, recommending places to eat, and providing maps for the free shuttle bus. The makeup in the photos taken by the hostel (the seventh courtyard) is also beautiful, and the person who took the photos has a very ladylike temperament. The house is large and tidy, the kang is unique and very comfortable to sleep on, and the bathroom is also new and clean. Very, very good.

AAnonymous UserWe ended our five-day trip to Shanxi and were very satisfied with Shanxi, especially this B&B in Pingyao Ancient City. After booking the room, we contacted the inn and reserved a parking space for us. We got off the expressway and arrived at the parking lot smoothly, and someone came over. They were very considerate in picking up my luggage. The location of the inn is very good, just at the intersection of the pedestrian street. It is not noisy at night and is very convenient for traveling. This is the most recommended one. The inn is a typical Shanxi courtyard house, just like living in a TV series. The courtyard is very comfortable, the rooms are clean and hygienic, and the service is excellent. I recommend everyone to stay here.
