3-Star Hotels in Pingyao County

I visited Pingyao with my 89-year-old mother, and Pusha is located on Chenghuangmiao Street, which is absolutely a prime location for accommodation within Pingyao Ancient City. It's not far from the main attractions, and just a short walk to Nanda Street, where many good restaurants are clustered. Choosing Pusha for a trip to the ancient city is definitely the right choice. The owner was very responsible and contacted us via WeChat two days in advance to ask about our arrival time. He gave detailed instructions on where to take a taxi, and the staff even picked up and dropped off our luggage from the New East Gate, making our arrival and departure hassle-free. The courtyard has typical Shanxi residential features. We chose a twin room, which was quite spacious, and the beds were very comfortable. My mother went back to the hotel early to rest and wanted to watch TV but couldn't figure out how to operate it. The owner, a young man, was incredibly patient. He spent over half an hour helping her and even left his own phone for her to cast TV shows. The service was truly excellent!👍

I came to Shanxi following the Black Myth route, and this homestay really amazed me! The night view inside Boya Residence is so photogenic that every shot feels like a blockbuster movie! It is one kind of scenery during the day, and it is another kind of scenery when you come back from the busiest main street and enter the courtyard at night. It is really beautiful, absolutely stunning. I took a lot of great photos in the courtyard, and I didn't have to retouch them. The courtyard was really comfortable and quiet. It was really leisurely to have a cup of tea in the courtyard and enjoy this moment of tranquility. Every detail in the room of this store is really pleasing. The beautiful boss will stand from the perspective of the guests to prepare everything in the room. This trip to Pingyao Ancient City is really worth it. When you come to Pingyao, you must stay in the courtyard of the beautiful sister's house, which is also an ancient courtyard with a history of the Qing Dynasty.

Loved it!! Although we were only here 2 nights, this was one of our 2 favorite stays of our 2 weeks in China. We’re loved it here. This hotel was just what I was hoping for. Traditional courtyard hotel. It’s beautiful! We felt like we were in a movie. It was so relaxing. Both mornings I just relaxed on the swing in the courtyard and enjoyed the peace and the environment. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Helen was very nice and helped us with any questions we had. The room was clean and beautiful. I will say you need to be prepared for a very firm bed - but that’s the style and party of the experience, This was one of our favorite parts of our trip. If we’re fortunate enough to have the chance to come back, I will definitely stay here again. I highly recommend.

We had a fantastic stay here, largely thanks to the incredibly helpful and kind host. The hotel is housed in a 300-year-old building, giving you a beautiful, authentic experience of ancient China, but the interior is fully updated and very calm. Arrival and Service: The host is highly organized. They arranged a free shuttle to pick us up the moment we stepped out of the Pingyao Gucheng railway station, and provided a free drop-off when it was time to leave. Upon arrival, the host sat down with a map, clearly explained how to navigate the walled city, and gave us great advice on what to prioritize. The Room: It looks ancient from the outside, but it is a spacious, spotlessly clean, modern hotel room on the inside. It features a large flat-screen TV and a smart voice-control system for the lights. The bathroom was immaculate and entirely modern, complete with an excellent shower and a heated toilet seat. I cannot believe they provide a room of this quality for such an affordable price. It is truly worth it. Location & Breakfast: The hotel is in a very convenient spot inside the Pingyao city walls, just a 10-minute walk to the evening light show. Breakfast is included. Rather than a standard buffet, they serve a nice traditional set meal featuring millet porridge (xiaomi), fried vegetables, and eggs (see my uploaded pictures). I highly recommend this place if you want top-tier hospitality and a clean, comfortable blend of ancient atmosphere and modern convenience.

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in October, with my friends who booked separate rooms. We had a free transfer from and to the train station which was very handy. The room was clean and very modern looking, with a smart kettle platform (you need to tap twice on the kettle icon to activate it and boil water - it wasn't written anywhere). The receptionist gave us tips about shopping and also shared his own tea with us, so lovely! The only thing I would like to improve is a Wifi coverage, somehow inside the room it was always saying 'no data connection' despite showing the strongest signal. And the other Wifi they set up for me worked only outside of the room, so I would need to open the door each time I wanted a signal. But I had mobile internet as well so I survived. Just a warning: I think it's unprofessional to play video games without headphones when customers approach you, but maybe the staff's paycheque is low and the manners are not deeply rooted. It just looked unusual to me, because in my country you can lose your job if you behave this way.

It's strange why this room type has been taken off the platform, because it's truly fantastic! The room is very spacious, with a private courtyard outside, and the interior layout is exceptionally well-designed. One minor downside is that the main bed is directly beneath a ceiling beam, so if that bothers you, you might want to choose a different room type. The hotel itself is incredibly large and has a fantastic atmosphere, often used as a photography location. While there are many people taking pictures during the day, the South Garden is outside the shooting area, so it remains wonderfully quiet. Because I was short on time, I directly chose the hotel's partner photography studio. It was super convenient for hotel guests to get their makeup done right at the front desk. Ms. Xiao Qiao, who did my makeup and styling, was so gentle and meticulous – I absolutely adored her! You can tell her you don't want the typical 'influencer' look, and she'll create something incredibly beautiful! The actual photoshoot felt a little bit like an assembly line, but that's probably unavoidable. However, if you're thinking of family photos, I'd suggest boys skip it, as the clothing options for them are limited and might not fit properly. But for little girls, go for it without a second thought!

Facilities: The room facilities matched what was advertised. Cleanliness: The room was quite clean. Environment: The accommodation was very quiet, and the room was warm. Service: The owner provided excellent service, especially the breakfast, which was delicious and highly satisfying.

I must highly recommend this wonderful hotel in the historic centre of Pingyao. The hotel is really authentic, well equipped, the room was beautiful and I didn't miss anything during my stay. The owner is very nice and helpful, he was able to help me with everything. The front desk is guarded by a small, beautiful dog who gives you a proper greeting. Everything is a short walk from the hotel yet it is in a quiet area where you won't be disturbed. Not choosing this hotel for my stay would be a big mistake. Recepci hlídá malý, krásný pejsek, který vás náležitě přivítá. Vše je kousek od hotelu a přitom je v klidné oblasti, kde vás nebude nikdo rušit. We ended our five-day trip to Shanxi and were very satisfied with Shanxi, especially this B&B in Pingyao Ancient City. After booking the room, we contacted the inn and reserved a parking space for us. We got off the expressway and arrived at the parking lot smoothly, and someone came over. They were very considerate in picking up my luggage. The location of the inn is very good, just at the intersection of the pedestrian street. It is not noisy at night and is very convenient for traveling. This is the most recommended one. The inn is a typical Shanxi courtyard house, just like living in a TV series. The courtyard is very comfortable, the rooms are clean and hygienic, and the service is excellent. I recommend everyone to stay here.

We were initially hesitant as we're worried the hotel may be ”too old”. But we were pleasantly surprised it was renovated to retain the ancient city look and feel. Love the room and the courtyards. It's even better than the ancient city itself. This hotel stay is a must for those seeking a complete and fulfilling stay in an ancient city. Room is extremely clean. We were at other international chain hotels during our tour, but none is as great as this hotel. My friend who is very ”sensitive” to ”presence” could not sleep well in other hotels, but could sleep very well in this hotel. The location is just a couple of steps off the main street of the ancient city. Same row as the famous ”bank”. Family runned. Lady boss and family are very fluent in English. So communication is not a problem. They're super friendly and helpful and accommodating. Highly recommended. For those who would like to venture out of the ancient city, do get their assistance to book a reliable and affordable driver to take you around. They even offer free costumes for you to dress up like Qing Dynasty ladies. FREE. A very big thank you to the lady boss for making our stay memorable and fun.
