GGuest UserMy favourite hotel in Shanghai! This was my second time staying here. The staff is super helpful and friendly, the location of the hotel is great, and the room itself was large and spacious, clean, and the movie projector is amazing for a movie night. I will not hesitate to book again for my next trip.

GGuest UserExcellent reception desk assistants, translating through phone app. English / Chinese Coffee /tea even massage chairs in reception. Room: Fantastic Beds were huge & comfortable - we had an upgrade to a larger room. The shower and shower toiletries were so refreshing. Towels were lovely soft & clean. Breakfast was the best I have had for a long time. Lived the rice, fried eggs, noodles , fruit vegetables. Even clams one morning. Great variety of drinks. The chief and staff were very happy & helpful. Extremely clean. I used the laundry room which also had a tumble dryer. This was useful due to travelling on to Beijing afterwards. The other family rooms have slides and are duplex. Sue the swimming pool is great in the summer. Excellent price , excellent choice for Families going to Disneyland and other local trips. Loved being able to go along the local street to see Shanghai local food, shops and life. Seems to be a family run business which is lovely to support. Location is great for the local shops , food, 7/11 supermarket for snacks & drinks Restaurants and food for locals which was delicious and a great price. Shuttle bus excellent. Taxi ( Didi) was £3 back from Disneyland . £11 to Shanghai Greenhouse Gardens ( evening ticket £5.40) this is an amazing trip not to be missed.

GGuest UserThe front desk staff were really great; one of the male staff even gave me hot mineral water and local specialties when I left. When I couldn't get the hot water to work in my room, a female staff member was quick to help, and they personally delivered my takeaway orders to my room. There's also hot coffee available in the lobby. The hotel's close proximity to the subway is another plus. The only downsides were having to get up early for breakfast to avoid queuing for a table, and there's only one elevator. The room was a bit small and the facilities were older, but it was very clean and quiet. Also, it looked like some of the toiletries had been used, but thankfully I hadn't brought many of my own. Overall, it was a comfortable stay.

SShanghai based coupleAs a couple who has lived in Shanghai together for almost 10 years, with one of us also Shanghainese, we have been to a lot of the best places in Shanghai, and some of the more recommended places in about 20 cities in the broader nearby area. Nothing in the city or within several hours of high-speed rail compares to a stay at Ritz-Carlton Pudong. In Asia and indeed the planet, this impeccable hotel experience stands as an iconic example of old-world elegance and service. In addition, it also offers a unique view of both some of the most modern and tallest buildings and the city’s famed Bund riverside, home to a variety of art deco architectural masterpieces. We had the incredible good fortune to start our honeymoon at the Ritz in Pudong, and this last stay was our last honeymoon treat. As always, it was a spectacular experience that we cannot recommend enough. The most extraordinary part of the stay really is the staff, they are all world class people who go above and beyond to make the Ritz-Carlton Pudong such an exceptional institution in one of the world’s leading cities. Sincere thanks to the whole team for making this happen, including Cherryl, who made reservation delightfully effortless, Chris who helped us to our room, and Joey and Ruby who helped in the evening. Special and heartfelt thanks to the whole team who make the Club Lounge experience world beating: Eddie and Junita, who both lead by example, have a deep passion for the details that create excellence, as well as being just the nicest people. They are both incredibly inspiring leaders and professionals. Claire is generally excellent there but also was phenomenally helpful to get a bag back when it was left behind, we really apricated that. Jeramy and Vivian also are amazing, as are Club Lounge’s chef’s Joe and Austin. Sherry is a real star, attentive, sharp and so helpful. Last but not least, Helen, who was the first person to greet us after we got married, and fittingly the last person to help us create personalised room key cards with our wedding photo on it, and most recently a special photo of family from our honeymoon. Those keycards are really cool keepsakes, but making them is not as simple as you might think: the image is etched into the key, not printed, so the original photo needs to be translated by AI into an image that the etching system is capable of delivering, which is really impressive. When I showed my mom who lives very far away, even she was impressed with Helen’s work. Ordinarily we prioritise new experiences over more of the same, regardless of how comfortable and nice it is. But regardless of how hard we try, we have not been able to figure out a better way to celebrate our biggest moments than a stay at the Ritz in Pudong.

JJane.^If you're going to Disneyland, you *have* to stay at this hotel! We originally booked a B&B near Disneyland because we had the early entry pass, and the owner provided rides both in the morning and at night. But B&Bs just aren't the same as hotels. After our Disney trip, we checked into this Novotel, a brand I've always loved. I've stayed at several Novotels in Suzhou before, near Jinji Lake and Taihu Lake. After a full day at Disneyland, I was completely wiped out, and the hotel thoughtfully arranged a late-night snack for us. The next day, we slept in and enjoyed a fantastic breakfast – my child and I had so much fun. After relaxing a bit, we headed to the 5th floor for a workout. The late 2 PM checkout time was perfect; we got all the rest we needed before heading back to Suzhou! I'll definitely be back!

AAnonymous UserPros: 1. Upon arrival on check-in day, a doorman helped open the car door and took our luggage, escorting us to the front desk. Our bags were then delivered directly to the room by staff. 2. The hotel staff's service attitude was excellent, and the front desk handled everything professionally. 3. We booked a river-view king room and paid extra to upgrade to a Bund panoramic view king room (not sure if that's the exact name). I have to say, the view was absolutely stunning – exactly what everyone hopes for! You could see the Oriental Pearl Tower, the 'Three-piece Suit' (referring to the three tallest skyscrapers), the Huangpu River, and the entire Bund, all unobstructed. 4. The hotel boasts an excellent location, right next to Binjiang Park, perfect for a leisurely stroll anytime. The surrounding area has complete commercial amenities, offering plenty of options for dining, entertainment, and shopping. The hotel itself is a quiet oasis in a bustling area, perfectly aligning with Banyan Tree's resort positioning. 5. The room facilities were premium, and amenities were comprehensive: a circular bathtub, a double-basin vanity in the bathroom, a smart toilet, and a shower with three types of nozzles and excellent water pressure. 6. The room received complimentary bottled water and a small beverage daily. You can definitely cut down on ordering outside drinks when staying here; the in-room supply is enough. 7. The first round of soft drinks in the mini-bar was complimentary upon check-in. 8. Any issues we reported via phone were handled swiftly by the hotel. 9. The best perk during our stay was the breakfast, served from 7 AM until *12 PM*! Being able to sleep in and essentially save on lunch was fantastic. 10. The hotel's cleaning staff was prompt and even asked for our preferred cleaning time, which was very thoughtful. 11. On check-out day, I wasn't quite ready to leave and wanted to extend our check-out time. The front desk was busy with another guest's call and I couldn't reach them immediately. Afterwards, Ms. Minnie, the hotel's room division staff, promptly called me back and arranged for a late check-out until 1 PM. Her professionalism and quick response were commendable. Cons: 1. For a luxury hotel with this location and view, don't expect free room upgrades. Upgrades come with an extra charge, and having such an expectation can lead to a slight disappointment. 2. The hotel's check-in time is strictly 3 PM. If you arrive early, you'll either have to wait or go out to explore. 3. The room wasn't soundproof. I noticed a gap under the room door, and a noticeable space between the door and its frame. No wonder you could hear every little sound from the hallway, and conversely, anything happening in the room was audible from the corridor. This compromises privacy a bit, making it less suitable for couples or those (like me) who enjoy listening to music with speakers in the room, as it might disturb others. 4. Food delivery is a common issue and a typical drawback of older luxury hotels: deliveries aren't allowed directly to the room; guests have to go down to pick them up themselves. There are no smart robots for delivery. 5. Other snacks in the mini-bar are not complimentary. Given the price point of the rooms, the hotel could be a bit more generous. 6. The breakfast selection was quite limited, comparable to a buffet breakfast you'd find in a hotel costing around 100 RMB. For example, a few years ago, I stayed at the Grand Hyatt by the river in Changsha, Hunan, where the breakfast offered Chinese, Western, Japanese, and Korean options, plus seafood and sashimi – I could spend over an hour enjoying breakfast there. For the price point of the Banyan Tree on the Bund, this level of breakfast is genuinely a bit disappointing and should be upgraded.

GGuest UserMy mother wanted to see the Bund's night view during Chinese New Year, but I booked too late and couldn't get a river view room. Although there was some regret, the hotel offered a lot of warmth. First, upon check-in, the front desk gave us a warm and genuine New Year greeting along with a lunch discount coupon. What I found even more heartwarming was their advice not to upgrade to a suite costing over 9,000 RMB a night, but instead to step out of the room and experience the Bund, which is so close – why not? Indeed, why not! For a hotel at this price point, the hardware isn't as important as the delightful experience and emotional value brought by the staff's warmth. I think it surpasses many five-star hotels I've stayed at in Shanghai. Lunch was on the fifth floor of the old building, and the pan-fried yellow croaker was excellent, as were the various Cantonese dim sum, prepared meticulously without rushing. After dinner, the lounge on the first floor is also highly recommended. We had two drinks for 180 RMB; considering the price and atmosphere, it's unbeatable on the Bund!

GGuest UserThe surroundings of the house are lovely, and there's a small courtyard downstairs. If you check in around dusk, the lighting is beautiful. The room has green plants, and the bed is very clean. There's an electric fan, a refrigerator, a cooking area, and the projector works wonderfully. Excellent value for money, I'm very satisfied!

MM773011****Traveling solo, I picked this place and it definitely didn't disappoint! The room had all the appliances and daily necessities, and every corner was spotless. The view from the window was expansive, and the environment was really peaceful. The front desk and the cleaning staff were incredibly thoughtful and attentive. My solo travel experience here was absolutely fantastic.

GGuest UserDuring our stay, we did not identify any significant shortcomings in the hotel. Its prime location, where it is easily accessible on foot to the Bund, was a notable feature. The room conditions were excellent, with thorough cleaning and hygiene measures in place, and the facilities functioned properly. The hotel’s amenities, such as the laundry facilities, added practical value and were more than just marketing gimmicks. The staff at the front desk, Xiao Qin and Xiao Wu, demonstrated professionalism and were able to efficiently address guests’ needs. Overall, considering the balance of cost and quality, this hotel is a safe and reliable choice, with strong performance across all aspects.
