The hotel is quite close to the beach, but there are no rooms with a sea view. The rooms are spacious, and the balcony has a daybed with drapes, facing the pool, which is quite lovely! However, the hotel has a major issue: a very strong musty smell in the rooms. The first room we checked into hadn't been aired out, and as soon as we entered, we almost choked and coughed from the smell! No exaggeration, it was a really strong, musty odor! We couldn't stand it and requested a room change. The hotel service was good; they immediately showed us two other rooms. Probably because they had aired them out and sprayed air freshener, our new room had no musty smell, and we were happy to settle in. But when we came back after dinner, the musty smell was back, so we immediately opened the balcony door and room door to air it out. For the next few days, we had to open the doors daily to ventilate, otherwise, the musty smell would return. Friends considering booking here, please take this into serious consideration.

We stayed in superior room No. 2507 in May 2026. Overall, the impressions were positive. The room is in good condition, everything shines and sparkles. 2 king size beds, semi-hard mattresses, 2 pillows each, a bedside table, a lamp between them. The TV is not a big Samsung, not a smart TV. The refrigerator is small, without a freezer. It contains paid nuts, beer, water. 2 bottles of water, sugar, tea, coffee, cream, 2 cups, 2 glasses, a kettle - the standard set of each hotel. Balcony with access to the jungle, with dryer, 2 plastic. armchairs, a table, and an unpleasantly humming air conditioning fan unit. This is a minus. The built-in air conditioner with controls on the wall blew where it was needed - not on the bed! The downside is that there is a door to the adjoining room; you can hear perfectly well what is going on with your neighbors. The toilet is standard with a hygienic shower. The shower room is large with a rain shower head on top. The pressure is strong, hot water comes out almost immediately, which is a definite plus for the hotel. It was a little dark in the washbasin, and I had to go out to the mirror and go into the room to shave. There is also not enough light in the room. Thais invariably create evening intimate twilight😁. The door is locked with an electronic lock and 2 key cards are issued. We had a reservation without meals. But according to stories, the food on the Chanalai network is not even bad. They provide 3 towels, including a beach towel. There are 2 swimming pools. There are jets of Jacuzzi hydromassage with good pressure. Second pool on the roof. Everything in the pools is great, only for children. Depth 1.1 meters. Swimming is very difficult, your feet constantly touch the bottom! There is no territory. The building is shaped like the Russian letter P, and the same shape is the pool with sun loungers and a bar. We checked in at 13-00, offering welcome ice cream and a sweet drink. Opposite the hotel there are a number of fruit outlets, a restaurant and a minimart store. 500 meters to the nearest seven/11. And 900 meters to the beach. There is a one-time transfer to the Jangceylon shopping center in Patong, we took advantage of it on a rainy day. Markets and retail chains in Patong, unlike Karon, are very developed. Summary: not a bad 3 or 4 star hotel, it’s up to you to decide. The downside is the depth of the pools.

I had a fantastic experience at this hotel. From the moment I arrived, the staff impressed me with their exceptional attention to detail—they were friendly, thoughtful, and always one step ahead in making sure guests felt comfortable. The room was spotless, spacious, and beautifully designed, offering a great balance of comfort and functionality. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and everything from the linens to the bathroom amenities felt premium. The hotel’s facilities are top-notch—modern, well-maintained, and clearly cared for. I especially enjoyed the game room, which was a fun and unexpected bonus. It’s perfect for relaxing or spending time with friends and family. Overall, this hotel exceeded my expectations. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, modern place to stay with excellent service and thoughtful amenities.

Apart from the fact that we were made to stay in the building adjacent to the main hotel building, I have nothing to complain. The staff were polite. It's very near to bangla street and patong beach. There's plenty of food options nearby. The pool is good (could have been a bit bigger compared to the hotel size).

The Gig Hotel

Moved from Old Town to Patong. My experience in Old Town was superb, enjoyable and relaxing. As we were approaching Gig Hotel, my spirit took a deep plunge from excitement to anticlimax ! thought I had found a gem hotel after reading all the positive highly rated reviews. It was a total disaster and the start of my nightmares! The streets were lined with sleazy massage parlours and Muslim eateries. I thought I was in Middle East. It’s impossible to find authentic Thai cuisine in that vicinity, let alone any restaurant serving pork. Breakfast in hotel has no pork too. Receptionist gave wrong info of breakfast venue. Told us it’s at the rooftop but it’s actually on the first floor. Breakfast was always crowded and food not replenished after 10 am. 2 coffee machines but long line of queue as it takes forever to dispense a cup of coffee/drink. No informing prior to breakfast closure. Staff just started clearing everything abruptly. The chairs are another nuisance, so heavy that tends to hit the chair behind every time you get up. The whole tables and chairs setting was almost back-to-back, very tight and uncomfortable. The so called infinity pool was rather small and always packed as guests from Gu Hotel (located just opposite and under the same management) share hotel amenities. The gym was so pathetic with only a couple of equipment. Next, the room was oddly designed and poorly furnished. There’s nothing luxury about the room. In fact, it felt cheap, poorly designed with much wasted space. Apart from being spacious and having full amenities, everything else was mediocre. Same or 1 type of homogeneous tile for the whole room, including toilet and wet/shower areas so possibility of slipping hazards. The wardrobe and toilet share the same door and the track wasn’t smooth. Have to exert bull strength to open and close. In the end, we just left the door half opened. Too tedious to open and close. The main entrance door was also faulty. We had to push it real hard to level and lock it. No coffee table between the TV and sofa and no luggage stand. No view from balcony - faces the facade of the other rooms. Moreover it’s too hot to sit at the balcony with the air-con compressor running. Poor soundproofing, we got awakened by noisy housekeeping staff outside our room every morning! Good luck to those with big and heavy luggage. No porter at sight when we arrived and the only way to the reception is either a flight of stairs or a very steep ramp. The potter appeared after we processed our check-in and offered to help us with our luggage which we declined. Why should we tip him after lugging the flight of stairs? Checkout is strictly at 12 noon. For late checkout, additional charge applies. .We couldn’t wait to end our stay at Gig Hotel. How could this hotel be awarded 4*? The only plus point is, it’s near Jungceylon.

Orico is highly rated across all platforms. We booked a room with direct pool access and were given room 1116, which we were very happy with as it's in the prime central location! The cot was already set up and ready for us. I'm giving this place five stars across the board. Of course, there are some minor drawbacks, like the humidity and the number of mosquitoes, and you can clearly hear chairs being dragged on the second floor. However, our whole family had an amazing experience! We can accept these small issues, as we're right by the water, and a little mosquito spray on the duvet helps. All the staff were friendly and welcoming, smiling and greeting my daughter. The breakfast environment was also excellent. Upon check-in, they proactively came to help with our luggage. There are a lot of Chinese guests here!

Holiday Inn Resort PHUKET SURIN BEACH by IHG

This time in Phuket, I chose the quiet and less crowded Surin Beach 🌅, which boasts beautiful sunsets. It's also closer to the airport without being noisy. The hotel facilities are quite good. There's a huge interconnected pool area, complete with a two-story spiral waterslide 🛝. I was a bit hesitant to try it at first 👙, but I gave it a go and it was pretty fun! 🥳 They also have plenty of activities for both adults and kids. I even joined a water aerobics class, which was great – perfect after a day of lounging! 😆 As for breakfast, it looked like there was a good variety, but when I actually tried to pick things, there wasn't a whole lot that stood out. Check-in took quite a while initially, and they even gave me the wrong room. However, when a family member accidentally scraped themselves at the pool the next day, the staff's attitude in handling the injury was very good.

Compared to two years ago, this experience was much worse. The service has deteriorated, and the facilities are old. There was peacock droppings on the paths that hadn't been cleaned, and many railings were broken. However, this is still the best place for snorkeling on Racha Island. If you don't care about the hardware and service and only focus on the scenery, this place is fine. Cons: 1. The service has completely declined. I had to drag my luggage a long way, carrying it up and down, on and off boats, and it was very hot. 2. The speedboat seats were so cramped I couldn't stretch my legs, much narrower than a budget airline. 3. No fridge in the room. On a hot day, if you want cold drinks, you have to buy ice at the restaurant for 20 THB a cup. 4. Neither the lobby nor the restaurant had air conditioning, it was incredibly hot, especially during the 3 hours before check-in and 2 hours after check-out while waiting for the boat. It was boiling. 5. The air conditioning leaked and soaked the entire room. 6. No curtains, so the sun was shining directly on my face in the morning. 7. No phone in the room. To contact the front desk, I had to use my own mobile, which was inconvenient for everything. 8. The sofa was dirty. 9. The restaurant food wasn't very good. Other restaurants on the island are much better. 10. No beach access, getting to the beach was a hassle. 11. Don't go sea fishing here. It's 3000 THB for 2 hours, which is far worse than the 3000 THB for a whole day on Koh Lipe. Plus, the boat barely went out, and we basically caught nothing. The experience was terrible. Go to Koh Lipe for fishing; the service and experience are much better. Pros: 1. Good snorkeling. 2. Chinese communication was fine throughout, no language barrier. Many Chinese tourists, so it was lively. It's truly become unscrupulous since it changed to a Chinese owner. To save money, they've removed fridges, phones, and curtains. They're selling rooms that are basically unfinished shells with incomplete facilities and no regard for the user experience. All the thoughtful details that Thai hotels usually have are gone. There's a reason for the low rating here.

Spectacular views of the sea from the rooms make this resort a winner for feelings of peace and solitude. My room included a ceiling fan and a separate rain shower next to the bath tub. A massive free breakfast buffet starts the day for most guests, with changing options on a daily basis. Before breakfast I walked down the steep driveway to the private beach to swim either in the sea or the small pool next to it. At 7 am there is nobody around. One morning I took out a kayak (one hour free) which had stunning panoramic views. There are two swimming pools by the resort’s main building and both are delightful for swimming and relaxing. Nothing much to do in the evening and the TV channel selection could be expanded with movie channels (e.g., HBO, Cinemax), educational channels like Discovery Asia, and nature channels like BBC Earth and Love Nature. I partook in a 90 minute herbal pack massage which was a bit pricy but very professional. Both lunch and dinner menus have sufficient variety of dishes and food quality was good. Staff were always helpful. In summary, Supalai Scenic Bay Resort is a wonderfully serene experience at a very reasonable room price.

The hotel is nice, secluded: there’s nothing much around it, which can be a good or a bad thing. I loved the private sandy beach, now it’s high season, and yet there were maximum 10 people at a time. So it feels all for yourself. I got upgraded and stayed in a little house with private pool and exit to the beach. Thanks for that. BUT there were 3 things I didn’t like: 1. noise, I don’t know, probably air conditioning or pool cleaning machine of A NEIGHBOR HOUSE, not even mine. In my room the AC and the fridge were also loud, but I turned them off. Yet I could not turn off the neighbor’s ones. At night it was hard to sleep because of that sound. 2. the pool cleaning — mine didn’t have that. The water there is still , was not changes next day, and I am not sure if was changed before I arrived 🤷♀️ In the neighbor pool I can see the water is always floats and changes, in mine not. 3. Every time I bought something and wanted to pay with my card, I had to go to reception. Every meal, every cocktail. That was disturbing. It was my last day of my holiday and I was short on cash. I thought it wouldn’t be a problem to pay by card, I could do it. But every time I had to climb 7 staircases to do it.
