This is the best hotel I've stayed in recently.
First off, the location is incredibly convenient, being very close to Kunming Railway Station, just a five to eight-minute walk away. The facilities are up to the standard of a Holiday Inn Express, and the cleanliness is also satisfactory. Breakfast exceeded many Holiday Inn Expresses, with a good variety of hot dishes and everything you'd expect.
Secondly, all the staff were very friendly. The employees I interacted with were genuine, without too much formal professionalism. While the service might not have been super fast, it felt very sincere.
Upon check-in, the young lady at the front desk gave me two small New Year red envelopes, each containing two yuan. The red envelopes were adorable, which made me quite happy.
Most importantly, the follow-up call after checking out didn't even ask for a positive review! After asking for my feedback, they wished me a happy New Year and then actually hung up! It's been a long time since I've encountered a hotel that didn't badger you for a good review – I was truly touched! I really wish there were more normal hotels like this.

The hotel boasts an excellent location. You just turn left from the North Square and walk a few steps to see the hotel name. It's really close to the train station, perfect if you have an early morning train – you can walk there in minutes. It’s a great choice for convenience and getting around. There are also convenience stores nearby. The room was clean and tidy, and even the toilet was smart with a heated seat. Highly recommend!

I have to give a huge shout-out to the service at this hotel! From the warm tea offered by the front desk at check-in to the meticulous cleaning by the housekeeping staff every day, everything felt incredibly thoughtful. The room, though not large, was fully equipped and thoughtfully designed. The complimentary bottled water and snacks were a pleasant surprise. The location is convenient, and the surroundings are very quiet, making for a very comfortable stay. It's just a few minutes' walk from the high-speed train station. I'll definitely be back next time!

A full five-star review for the Atour Hotel Kunming Railway Station North Square! The service was truly exceptional. During check-in, I casually mentioned I might need a nail clipper, and later that evening, I wanted some honey water. To my surprise, the front desk remembered both requests and responded incredibly quickly, delivering them to my room almost immediately. What was even better, they upgraded me to an Executive Twin Room for free – it was spacious and very comfortable. The next day, the breakfast buffet was also extensive and delicious, allowing me to enjoy a hearty meal before catching my early train without any rush. This stay was full of thoughtful details. Highly recommended!

The rooms at GreenTree Inn Express Kunming Railway Station are spacious and well-laid out, with smart devices that are well-maintained and responsive to voice commands. The hotel is very close to the train station, and about a 30-minute taxi ride from the airport when there's no traffic, which is also quite convenient. Getting to nearby attractions by taxi takes about 10-20 minutes, so it's very easy to get around. The hotel's breakfast is excellent; the donuts 🍩 are delicious, and so is the rice noodle soup. Most importantly, the service is truly outstanding. When I checked out, I had a lot of things in my hands, and a staff member helped me carry my luggage out and even put it in the trunk of my car. It was very cold outside, and she was only wearing a skirt. I was really touched by her kindness. I liked the pool, but unfortunately, it was too cold to swim.

I was going to write a review and then realized I didn't take a single photo of the hotel the whole time 😂 I usually like to document my life, so the fact that I didn't take any pictures probably means there wasn't anything particularly captivating about the place. The only photo I have saved is a screenshot of the hotel information from when I ordered takeout, just in case I filled in the wrong room number.
Our three families traveled together and booked three rooms. There wasn't much of a view outside the window, and overall, it was pretty standard. The front desk service was neither overly enthusiastic nor bad, just average.
The most frustrating part was that we arrived around 6 PM, expecting to check in smoothly and rest. Instead, we were told the rooms weren't ready yet. After a tiring day of traveling, not being able to check in immediately was a really poor experience and definitely put a damper on our mood. Hotels usually have a check-in time of 2 PM at the latest; this was the first time I've ever encountered a delay where we couldn't get into our rooms even by 6 PM.

The hotel's location is excellent, very close to Kunming Railway Station, just a few minutes' walk away. The lobby is grand with a huge chandelier. The room was spacious and bright. The breakfast offered a wide variety of options, and they even provided complimentary fruit upon check-in. The Yunnan cuisine at Fuzhaolou restaurant downstairs is absolutely delicious, especially the Steamed Chicken with Herbs (Qiguoji). Highly recommend!

This hotel offers a really great experience! It's very new, and the front desk staff were incredibly friendly. The room type we originally booked was a bit small, but the front desk kindly upgraded our room, which we really appreciated 👍. The hotel is very tidy and clean, and the room feels very comfortable. The bathroom has plenty of space and a convenient wet/dry separation. The bed is also very comfortable. The location is excellent, right near the train and subway stations, and a mall is close by, making it easy to go out for food and shopping. The hotel staff are very attentive and considerate in helping us solve any issues.
Overall, it's a fantastic choice. We'll definitely stay here again next time! 🥰

I accidentally left my laptop, which is my lifeblood, on a chair in the dining area! I was so embarrassed, but I couldn't lose my laptop! After I'd already arrived at the train station, a hotel staff member called to ask if the laptop was mine. I'm incredibly grateful! This hotel's service is excellent; you can see their dedication to running the business and treating every guest well in every detail. They even gave me a welcome gift. The location is very close to the train station, and I will definitely book this place again when I return! The front desk staff asked me to leave a good review if I was satisfied, and I absolutely would have given a great review without even being asked! This is the first time I've written such a long review, please excuse the length.

The hotel called in advance to tell me its exact location – it’s right on the second floor of the airport, super convenient for both arrivals and departures. Check-in was very fast, allowing us to get some rest quickly. They even gave us some flower cakes and fruit. Overall, I'm quite satisfied.

The food was quite good, convenient, and there was a wide variety. The breakfast was especially thoughtful, running from 7 AM all the way until 1:30 PM, which was a blessing for us late sleepers! GGuest UserWe chose this hotel for its convenient location when traveling with our child. When we first arrived, it felt like a hidden gem, tucked away in Jingxing Flower Street. You can find plenty of food and drinks right downstairs – all sorts of rice noodles, flower cakes... everything you could want! Plus, it's next to a large shopping complex and right by Wuyi Road Metro Station, exit B or C, which is close and has an elevator. Despite being in a lively area, it's surprisingly quiet! The room was quite new, a bit small, but perfectly fine for my child and me. The price was great too! It's an excellent choice for budget-conscious travelers.

PPsymondDespite the convenient location, comfortable beds, and all-important quiet sleep we managed to get, the hotel's communication to arrange our pick up from the train station at night and what turned out to be a self-check-in was just dismal, clearly needing more training to ensure better organisation for future guests. The following constructive advice is to help the hotel improve and for (particularly foreign) guests to note:
1. Ask for guests' phone number and inform the driver well in advance of our arrival, instead of waiting till the very last minute to do so. We reached out to the hotel via WeChat the day before and rightfully received detailed instructions (in Chinese) to find the driver (the pick up service is actually outsourced to a separate company using 3 different vans), but once we found the van, the driver angrily insisted we call the hotel to identify us by confirming our phone number - we were not allowed to board without the hotel's confirmation, which should have been done directly with the driver well in advance of our arrival.
2. This hotel is not manned after hours, let alone 24 hours, so please make it known well beforehand that we will have to check in ourselves if arriving after hours, and provide clear instructions on how to do so instead of communicating them through the phone while guiding us using the security cameras. It is not the guests' responsibility to do your administrative work (to report ourselves to the authorities by scanning the police QR code and filling out our details) at 11 o'clock at night when we have an early morning train to catch the following day. The hotel should allow guests to enter the room as soon as possible upon arrival, not have us wait half an hour while they struggle with what was clearly their first time checking in foreign guests - worse still over the phone - insisting that this be done before we could enter our room.
3. If the hotel truly wants the patronage of foreign guests, they will have to prioritise our convenience and comfort over theirs by actually having someone check us in in-person. Remotely doing so to save costs is as absurd as expecting foreign guests to communicate our details over the phone, sending photos of ourselves, our passport details etc. via WeChat, and then finding our room card and the room by talking to someone over the phone in Chinese. At the very least, these requirements and instructions should be clearly produced and communicated beforehand so that nothing is improvised.
We hope the above experience helps improve what is a decent hotel providing good value for money.

JjukachaThis time in this hotel we got the room on the first floor and this room was quite awful. Toilet is stinky and has problems with flushing, the window outside passing all the sounds from the street and it's annoying. Other rooms aren't so bad, but on the first floor better never choose.
