"I really enjoyed my stay in this hotel and felt so comfortable that I stayed more in my room than visiting the city ! At my checkin the receptionist saw I am a cyclist and he immediately suggested that I leave my bike in the luggage area, without having to request, which is exceptional when you travel by bicycle. First impression are lasting impressions… thank you to housekeeping as well for their great attention to guest needs and to details."

"This hotel is located on a hillside, offering views of Sakurajima volcano and a partial sea view. (I stayed for 4 nights, but they gave me a room on the lowest 6th floor. I had hoped to pay more for a better view, but from the 6th floor, you can barely see the sea. I noticed that higher floors with the same room type were occupied by locals, which is something I've encountered at other Japanese hotels as well. I usually stay at one hotel for a minimum of three to four days, sometimes even a week, but it seems I never receive any 'special treatment'. I hope Trip.com can address this.) The hotel's breakfast is incredibly rich and varied, which is rare for hotels of this caliber post-pandemic, and the ingredients are fresh. You don't even need to leave the hotel for anything – there's a convenience store, hot springs, massage services, a flower shop, restaurants, and a free shuttle bus to and from Kagoshima city center. Even taking a taxi to the aquarium or Sengan-en costs less than 2000 yen. Overall, it's a very comfortable, convenient, and versatile place to relax. I would choose this hotel again on my next trip to Kagoshima, even though the floor issue made me a bit unhappy 😠 (All photos are scenes from inside the hotel)."

"This hotel is genuinely good. Even though the service industry in Japan generally maintains high standards, you can still feel a real sense of sincerity here. When I first checked in, it felt a bit dated, especially the elevator. The doors closed really fast, so you had to keep pressing the 'open' button. Several Japanese guests, being polite and letting others go first, ended up getting caught by the closing doors. The elevator also juddered when stopping at floors. Inside the room, the air conditioning wasn't warm enough, and I felt cold since the temperature had dropped. Following my usual practice, I gave the hotel some feedback and expressed my dissatisfaction. After a few exchanges, I found that they were very willing to resolve the issues. Specifically, on the second day of my stay, there was a mix-up with the travel agent, and my dinner reservation wasn't made. I had actually paid for dinner on both the second and third nights. When I approached the front desk about the problem, it was already past 5 PM, and I wanted to have dinner at 6 PM, so time was really tight. After some internal discussion, the hotel decided that since I had paid, they would figure out a way for me to have my meal, and then they would sort out the issue with the travel agent themselves later. At the time, I was quite upset and worried that a last-minute dinner might be subpar, as Japanese hotel restaurants usually prepare set meals in advance based on the number of guests. I also contacted Ctrip. The initial customer service representative had a rather indifferent attitude, but then another representative stepped in who was much more willing to please the customer, even offering compensation in the form of points. Customers understand that customer service reps also have tough jobs, but they still need to provide that emotional support, which is just how the market works. I also realized that in such situations, to get a meal, I still had to fight for my rights with the hotel myself, but I accepted Ctrip's small gesture of compensation. Later, when I went to the restaurant, I saw that a set meal had indeed been arranged for me. While it was a bit rushed and didn't have as much variety as other hotels, the portion size was generous, and the staff's service attitude was absolutely delightful. So, I didn't raise any more concerns. Overall, the hotel staff were truly dedicated to providing good service. The aging facilities are just something that can't be helped, and it's already one of the most prestigious hotels in the area, hosting many annual company parties and coming-of-age ceremonies. Despite some negative news, Ctrip remains the most user-friendly app. I travel frequently and often switch between different apps, but I always find Ctrip to be the most convenient. I hope Ctrip's service quality doesn't decline during this economic downturn."

"Extremely satisfied with this hotel! It's super convenient, just a one-minute walk from the Shinkansen station. No need to drag your luggage far! I booked a double room in the North Tower, which was perfect for one person, and the space was decent. They replaced towels, slippers, and coffee daily. My booking included breakfast, and you could choose between Japanese and Western options. The Japanese breakfast even had Kagoshima Kurobuta pork hotpot, which was so filling I didn't need to eat again, allowing me to try more things later! I preferred the Western breakfast; the coffee was good, and the toast was delicious. I ended up having Western breakfast two days in a row, and they also offered takeaway coffee packets and waffles, which was a nice touch! I'll definitely stay here again when I go to Kagoshima and will recommend it to my friends!"

"It's very clean, and the bedding and toiletries are brand new. On the first floor, the lobby offers a variety of DHC cleansers, toners, and makeup removers, so if you're not too picky, you don't even need to bring any toiletries. It's right next to the Tenmonkan shopping district, which is very convenient, and the 'Woa Ren' restaurant there is delicious. I'll definitely go back again; I really enjoyed the food in Kagoshima, and if I return, I'll stay at this hotel again."

"The room is genuinely cozy, sparkling clean, and feels like a new apartment. It's about a 7-8 minute walk from Tenmonkan. The street downstairs is lined with nightclubs, so it's probably best not to return too late. There's a 7-Eleven downstairs and a local supermarket diagonally opposite, offering all sorts of fresh meat and vegetables. It was perfect for us to buy ingredients and use the room's kitchenware for a satisfying yakiniku or shabu-shabu meal. The local wagyu and kurobuta pork were incredibly fragrant and absolutely delicious! Check-in and check-out are fully self-service, which has its pros and cons. The advantage is the peace, quiet, and freedom it offers. However, the downside is that if it's raining and you need help calling a taxi, there's no staff member available to assist you. A taxi ride to Kagoshima-Chuo Station costs about 1000 yen. I would definitely choose to stay here again if I have the opportunity."

"I've stayed at Dormy Inn Kagoshima multiple times, and everything about the hotel is excellent. Location: The hotel is about a 10-15 minute walk from JR Kagoshima-Chuo Station. The Sakurajima Ferry Terminal is also roughly a 10-15 minute walk away, making it very convenient for getting around. The Tenmonkan shopping district is right nearby, offering great options for shopping and dining. Cleanliness: The hotel's facilities are relatively new and kept spotlessly clean. Service: The front desk staff are very professional and highly efficient. Other: The onsen (hot spring) is fantastic. Although not large, it even has an open-air bath (rotenburo), making for a wonderfully relaxing soak after returning to the hotel."

TTuixiuyubeirenyuanI highly recommend this hotel when visiting Kagoshima – it's incredibly convenient! They have a delicious local pork hotpot right in the hotel (reservations recommended, portions are small). After dinner, you can head to the supermarket next door for a stroll and find a fantastic selection of strawberries. Afterwards, just pop up to the 5th floor for a relaxing hot spring bath. There's a tram stop right outside the hotel, but for places like the aquarium and Sakurajima ferry terminal, it's a bit more convenient to take a taxi (around 1,000 yen, very close). On the day we left, the sun finally came out, and we got to enjoy a beautiful view of Sakurajima right from our room!

GGuest UserI booked this hotel on Trip.com for my summer trip to Japan, and my stay was excellent! Self check-in is available from 3 PM. The hotel boasts a convenient location and pleasant surroundings, though its facade is quite unassuming and easy to miss. Our connecting family rooms (two rooms) weren't particularly spacious but were clean and well-equipped, featuring an air purifier and an LG clothes dryer. Guests can also enjoy a public bath on the 12th floor. Located just 1.4 km from Kagoshima-Chuo Station, the area around the hotel offers a plethora of unique dinner options, such as the famous 'Wagaiebi' izakaya, specialty soba noodle shops, and a wide array of other local delicacies. Furthermore, drugstores, bakeries, and supermarkets are all conveniently accessible. While summer prices tend to be a bit higher, the hotel offers very reasonable rates during off-peak seasons.

GGuest UserWe had an amazing stay at this hotel and honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The value for money is outstanding—everything you get here easily exceeds the price. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and very pleasant to stay in, making it a great place to relax after a long day. The service was exceptional. The staff were always willing to help with anything we needed, no matter what it was, and they were consistently super kind, polite, and welcoming. You can really feel that they care about the guests. The location is perfect, with a bus stop right outside the hotel, making it very easy to get anywhere in the city quickly and efficiently. Overall, a fantastic stay—highly recommended!

GGuest UserThe location is superb, room was clean, spacious and with a nice balcony. The room provided all you need on a leisure trip. The only downside was it was super complicated and time consuming to contact the hostel for entrance pin, check-in procedure and check-in number. We asked the front desk receptionist of our previous hotel to call the hostel number stated on trip.com booking confirmation email in morning, but no one picked up; called again at 3pm, and the hostel hotline said the number was wrong and referred us to call another number. If we did not have the assistance from a Japanese local receptionist from another hotel, I dont think we could get the entrance pin and check-in procedure information smoothly. I recommend this hostel to Japanese local, or tourists with a Japanese mobile number to make calls/able to find assistance from Japanese local people.

Aa350ryomaThis hotel's location is super convenient, right in the heart of the Tenmonkan area, with the tram stop directly in front. It's walking distance to the bustling downtown and plenty of restaurants, so exploring and dining out was a breeze. The hotel and rooms felt new and clean, making for a very comfortable stay. The artificial carbonated hot spring in the public bath was fantastic for soothing away travel fatigue. I especially enjoyed the breakfast on the top floor, with amazing views of Sakurajima while savoring dishes made with local ingredients. The staff were also very attentive and polite. Overall, I'd say this is a highly satisfying hotel.

GGuest UserVery conveniently located close to the tram (which goes to the location to catch the bus to Kagoshima airport), as well as other places obviously. Also about  ten minute walk to Sakurajima ferry and about a fifteen minute walk to the high speed ferry that goes to Yakushima.   Has laundry and drying that you need to pay for on the first floor. Rooms are typical Japanese business hotel rooms but not ultra small or cramped. I stayed here for several days and enjoyed the view of Sakurajima in the morning and night.  Staff are friendly and prompt.

二黃What a surprisingly wonderful old ryokan! Operating for a century, its interior boasts a rich Showa-era charm. It definitely feels historic but is spotlessly clean. The true highlight was breakfast, which unexpectedly featured pork shabu-shabu. The broth was made with genuine, high-quality ingredients, and the yuzu kosho was locally sourced. Paired with the black pork, it was absolutely delicious! 😋

GGuest UserI loved staying here!! It had such a great communal vibe to it. One of my favorite memories from traveling Japan is sitting at the low tables in the common area, eating a convenience store dinner and watching baseball on the tv. I was only there 3 nights but it felt like it would’ve been an easy place to settle into for a longer stay. There was a fridge and kitchen, two showers & toilets, laundry, luggage storage, lockers, etc. Very close to the train station. Rooms were clean, I felt like the staff did a great job on the upkeep. I would definitely recommend you stay here. The only thing to be aware of is that the mattresses are really thin so the sleeping surface feels really hard.

QQiao YingIt’s only a 6-minute walk from Kagoshimachuo Station! I stayed in the Tatami Room which can be relatively small for people with big luggages. Like other hostels, the toilets, shower rooms, and common space are shared among the floor. However, I do find the shower area a little small. Many of us wouldn’t enter the shower area if somebody was using the sink because the sink was right in front of one shower cubicle HAHAHA. And yes, there’s only one sink in the common shower area. I would recommend this place if you are doing a short stay in Kagoshima because there’s lots of shops and restaurants around the area! By the way, it’s located along the same lane as the famous “tonkatsu kawakyu とんかつ川久”. Please try it because it’s the best tonkatsu I’ve ever eaten!
