Guest UserSheraton Kagoshima | Perfect Solo Trip Experience, Watching Sakurajima + Onsen Healing 🌋♨️
【Basic Information】
🏨 Hotel: Sheraton Kagoshima
📅 Check-in Date: June 19th - June 22nd
👤 Travel Type: Solo Traveler
【Overall Rating】⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)
I came to Kagoshima for a solo vacation and chose the Sheraton after seeing it recommended by a travel blogger. To my surprise, it exceeded all my expectations! Hygiene, environment, service, and facilities all scored a perfect 5, making it the highlight of my trip.
【About the Room and View】
As described during booking, I stayed in a room with club lounge access.
The moment I opened the door, I was truly amazed – a huge floor-to-ceiling window directly overlooked Sakurajima volcano! Whether it was watching the volcano faintly appear through the morning mist or admiring the city lights come alive in the evening, this view was absolutely breathtaking. The room's interior design was modern and simple with excellent natural light. Staying in such a spacious environment by myself instantly lifted my spirits.
【About Facilities and Service】
As someone meticulous about details, the hotel's cleanliness put me completely at ease; every corner was spotless.
- Gym: The equipment was new and comprehensive. Running on the treadmill while enjoying the view outside made the workout feel effortless.
- Club Lounge: This was a major highlight of my stay! The environment was elegant and quiet, offering not only comfortable sofa areas for relaxing and reading but also dedicated dining areas and a bar. For a solo traveler like me, it provided both a sense of social security and the freedom of personal space.
【Highly Recommended: Natural Onsen and Foot Bath 🛁】
This was definitely the biggest bonus of my stay! The hotel has its own natural onsen, which is a savior for travelers who have been walking all day.
The most thoughtful touch was the outdoor foot bath. If you're traveling alone like me or are a bit shy about public large onsens, this foot bath is absolutely perfect! Sitting on the wooden steps, soaking your feet in the warm spring water, and looking up at the indoor garden scenery – the feeling of relaxation is truly indescribable. You get to enjoy the healing benefits of the onsen without any awkwardness, offering maximum privacy!
【In Conclusion】
If you're traveling to Kagoshima alone or looking for a place to relax and enjoy the scenery, the Sheraton Kagoshima is definitely worth a second visit. Here, it's not just about spending a night; it's about indulging in the luxurious time of gazing at the volcano and unwinding in a foot bath.

Richmond hotel was located opposite a big department store, with easy access to bus and trams. A combini is just opposite the hotel.
They have a wider range of personal amenities to pick at the lobby. They have 3 machines to handle checkout, exchange currency (e.g. 1000¥ to 100¥ coins for laundry machines on 6th floor, or break 10,000¥ to smaller notes). The machines also accept your hotel parking charges. When it was raining, hotel provided full size umbrellas for use, without deposit or giving room numbers, which is very convenient.
It has a car park with limited lots, so if you can secure one ,it will be very easy to unload and load your bags. Costs 2400¥ for 2 nights of parking.
Main place for food is closer to Tenmonkan area, which is walkable.

a350ryomaThis hotel's location is super convenient, right in the heart of the Tenmonkan area, with the tram stop directly in front. It's walking distance to the bustling downtown and plenty of restaurants, so exploring and dining out was a breeze. The hotel and rooms felt new and clean, making for a very comfortable stay. The artificial carbonated hot spring in the public bath was fantastic for soothing away travel fatigue. I especially enjoyed the breakfast on the top floor, with amazing views of Sakurajima while savoring dishes made with local ingredients. The staff were also very attentive and polite. Overall, I'd say this is a highly satisfying hotel.

二黃What a surprisingly wonderful old ryokan! Operating for a century, its interior boasts a rich Showa-era charm. It definitely feels historic but is spotlessly clean. The true highlight was breakfast, which unexpectedly featured pork shabu-shabu. The broth was made with genuine, high-quality ingredients, and the yuzu kosho was locally sourced. Paired with the black pork, it was absolutely delicious! 😋

I was impressed by the friendly staff, all of whom had the biggest smiles. Kagoshima Chuo Station is about a 20-minute walk away, straight along the main street in front of the hotel. The breakfast buffet featured a wide variety of local Kagoshima ingredients and traditional dishes, as well as a wide selection of sweets, making it a delightful experience from the start of the day.

tonyteostRoom a little too small, but smack in the middle of Kumamoto. Had the pleasure of witnessing the Ohara festival during our tripl.

The guesthouse cares and messaged me before my arrival and told me that I can check in early. They also provided welcome coffee/tea at the day of your arrival. Laundry is also available. Each floor also has a lounge / free space with all amenities.
Luggages can be left after checkout and you can come to get it anytime.
Only 3-5 mins walk from Kagoshima Chuo station :)

Don AWe struck gold with this one. Amazing location, right by the main bus station and very near the Chuo train station. Super clean, comfortable and it has luggage storage that can be used for free for gusts who come too early or have extra time to explore after checking out.

Guest UserI loved staying here!! It had such a great communal vibe to it. One of my favorite memories from traveling Japan is sitting at the low tables in the common area, eating a convenience store dinner and watching baseball on the tv. I was only there 3 nights but it felt like it would’ve been an easy place to settle into for a longer stay. There was a fridge and kitchen, two showers & toilets, laundry, luggage storage, lockers, etc. Very close to the train station. Rooms were clean, I felt like the staff did a great job on the upkeep. I would definitely recommend you stay here. The only thing to be aware of is that the mattresses are really thin so the sleeping surface feels really hard.
