Art Hotel Kagoshima

The hotel offers an excellent view of the volcano, though it's a bit far from the city center. Public transport options are limited to buses, or you can take a taxi. The hygiene conditions are a bit concerning. There's a convenience store downstairs, but the nearest coffee shop and supermarket are a 10-minute walk away. The service, however, was very good.

It's an old hotel, and the wooden furniture in the room is worn out. The front desk staff were very polite, but... the funniest part was the buffet restaurant. In all my travels to Japan, this is the first time I've encountered such an unfriendly attitude. I saw from the original description that it was meant to serve Chinese guests, but a young, thin staff member in the restaurant actually said they don't serve Chinese people (and with a very bad attitude). Even when I asked the front desk to intervene, it was useless. I don't know what Trip.com's legal team is doing; they just said there's no evidence. Anyway, I advise everyone to avoid this hotel. It's a shame the polite front desk staff were wasted. Although they apologized repeatedly when I checked out, the bad impression won't disappear. If you absolutely have to stay at this hotel, choose the Kaiun Japanese restaurant for dining; they are much more polite.

The bus and ferry connections are very convenient, and although it's a bit of a walk from the JR station, there are plenty of amenities nearby. But the unbeatable location is truly the highlight – the balcony offers a direct view of Sakurajima volcano, so you can enjoy the most breathtaking scenery without even leaving your room.
