Amazing
HHuifeideyuerbushanggouThe hotel offers a shuttle service, which makes getting around very convenient. Right outside the hotel, there's a tram stop that takes you to the pier, where you can catch a boat to Sakurajima for sightseeing. The hotel's breakfast is quite substantial, with plenty of fruit, and the golden kiwi was especially sweet. All the staff were attentive and thoughtful. The hotel also has a free gym, and right next door is a hot spring ♨️ where you can enjoy a full soak or a foot bath; the spa services, however, are paid. Overall, everything was excellent. I'll definitely stay here again on my next visit. I hope for friendship between China and Japan and world peace 🤝🏻
AAnonymous UserI was extremely satisfied with my stay at JR Kyushu Hotel Kagoshima! The absolute highlight was its incredible convenience – the hotel is directly located inside Kagoshima-Chuo Station. It truly lives up to 'step off the train, step into the hotel,' making it super easy to access the Shinkansen, city trams, or the airport bus. This was particularly great for someone like me with a tight schedule.
Even better, the hotel seamlessly connects to AMU PLAZA Kagoshima, which is right above the station. Shopping, dining, and drugstores are all there, making it incredibly easy to grab dinner and souvenirs without having to venture out into the sun or rain. It was a completely hassle-free, one-stop experience.
Despite being in the heart of a transportation hub, the soundproofing in the room was surprisingly good. Once the door was closed, I could barely hear any noise from the station or the mall, making for a very quiet night's rest. While the room facilities weren't brand new, they were clean, tidy, and fully functional, with everything I needed, making for a very comfortable stay.
Overall, this is a highly recommended hotel that perfectly balances convenience and practicality with great value for money. I strongly suggest it to anyone traveling independently to Kagoshima!
GGuest UserI think it's a good hotel.
It's about a 10-minute walk from Kagoshima Port, so I recommend it for those using the port.
For breakfast, you can choose between Japanese and Western food, and the Japanese food was healthy and delicious. Salads and drinks were served buffet style.
I was very satisfied with the staff, who were very helpful with my research and inquiries.
I will definitely use this hotel again when I use Kagoshima Port.
ZZheyanIt's about a 20-minute walk from Kagoshima Chuo Station.
The Takamibaba tram stop is right in front of the bath.
The large public bath is great.
There aren't many washing areas, so I don't know when it gets busy, but I didn't have to wait long.
The breakfast was delicious and had a wide variety of food.
It was a buffet of Japanese, Western and Chinese food. I would have preferred if there were more desserts.
It was a shame that there was no cereal.
The yogurt was delicious.
It never gets full, but as rumored, there is quite a long queue from 6:30.
The staff are not bad at all.
It felt like they were doing the bare minimum.
AAnonymous UserThis hotel is near Kagoshima Station. It takes 5 minutes to get there by taking JR from Kagoshima Chuo Station. It is very convenient to walk a few hundred meters after getting off the train. The view from where I live is very good. I can see the mountain when I open the window. The big supermarket opposite the building is good. There are discounted sashimi and various rice in the afternoon. The hotel has a microwave to heat the rice. We bought some food and ate it in the hotel. It was very good. It takes only one stop to Senganen. It takes a few minutes to get off the train and arrive.
GGuest UserEven though this is an old hotel and it shows in its facilities and overall design, the service and amenities you get as a solo traveller is worth thw price you pay for an overnight stay. The room is clean albeit small but sufficient. Some points to take note if you're planning to book:
This is close to the central station so it's juat a block away from major shopping and transport options.
The hotel closes its front desk and doors at 11 pm to 7 am. Checkin before 11 pm. Going in and out of the hotel at that time is possible if you use your key card to open the front doors.
Walls are thin and it's very possible that you would hear your neighbor.
There's free coffee and drinks at the lobby.
GGuest UserPros: The hotel locates near the west exit of Kagoshima Central Station. It takes less than 3 minutes walk to get there from the station. However it would take 8-10 minutes walk to reach the airport bus terminal which is close to the east gate of the station. Space of a double room is satisfactory and average in Japan.
Cons: Breakfast is very simple so we just ignore the breakfast on the the third day. No USB sockets in the room. One should not expect much facilities and services with reference to the price.
二二黃What a surprisingly wonderful old ryokan! Operating for a century, its interior boasts a rich Showa-era charm. It definitely feels historic but is spotlessly clean. The true highlight was breakfast, which unexpectedly featured pork shabu-shabu. The broth was made with genuine, high-quality ingredients, and the yuzu kosho was locally sourced. Paired with the black pork, it was absolutely delicious! 😋
Pphtan68Very good hotel and we got a good deal to stay. The male staff from front desk explained to us on all the nitty gritty, in a typical Japanese polite way. Onsen is at 4 floors and it is typical Japanese Onsen. There are washing and drying facilities on the 4th floor which is budget friendly, where we wash our laundry. The hotel however is away from the town center which might be inconvenient for some travellers that wan to walk around.
KK Hoffman (Canada)It was too far away from Kagoshima-chuo Railway station to walk. Have to take the bus. First city in Japan that I could not use my SUICA card on the buses. Make sure you got small change.
However, it's only about 10 minutes walk to the Tenmonkan Street, the shopping/eating area in Kagoshima.
Nice kitchen if you want to do your own cooking. There is a vending machine on the 4th floor with beer and vodka on the rocks. Also, there are 2 laundry machines and dryers - one set on the third floor and the other on the rooftop. The rooftop had a gas dryer which is much better at drying clothes.
