"Not sure whether it’s during long holidays, or it’s normal. But I expected much better service for this type of hotel. So I was so disappointed when I didn’t feel like it. First, I carried a lot of stuffs. I asked for concierge, yes there was a luggage cart, but I need to carry all by myself up to my room, using a small and old with impaired wheels cart. Second, full of tourists. Onsen was so full too. So I need to hurry took a bath, a few minute in the onsen, then go back to my room. Not relax at all. Third, such a long queue breakfast. There were 2 types of breakfast for us to choose. Never seen like this before, but we need to get a queue, for 30-60 minutes waiting. If I knew that there was a queue for hotel breakfast, I would definitely went down to get the queue before packing my luggage. Who will know that it would be like this. It’s my really first time to wait for 1 hour to have breakfast. Lastly, I was so tired and want the massage, so I booked one. Not sure whether it’s normal for Japanese style or not, but compared to Thai massage and Korean massage, I shouldn’t have paid for it . Too expensive but not help at all. I came back to my room to acupuncture myself instead. Luckily that I stayed 2 hotels in Hakodate, so I moved to another hotel on the next day and feel much better. Oh, a few things I like about this hotel. 1. The pictures along the way to another wing (during my walk to onsen). There were beautiful 2. A rental car place in front of hotel, during my waiting for breakfast queue, I walked there and found a good price car rental."

"JR Inn Hakodate is particularly outstanding in several aspects: great location which is directly connected to JR Hakodate station so people would not get wet even it’s raining, special offer on extra pillows with different material, relaxing open area which allows people to rest after bathing (please see photos attached), amenities such as washing machine and microwave etc, the unique view of JR railway in room. Just one thing: The space in my room became very limited after I opened my 26’ luggage on the floor. Overall the hotel is perfect!"

The hot spring facilities are considered to be quite satisfactory, open air, and there are 5 indoor additions. You can experience them all."

"It was a room that children would be happy! When I entered the building, there were cute modern decorations, and it seemed that security in the middle of the night was also solid. We didn't go, but there seems to be a hidden spot and barbecue facility on the roof! Is the hall renewed? Like old and new? I think the cleaning was clean, but I couldn't get down because I felt like the pillows smelled like dust (^^ ;; Children who are tired of sightseeing for adults in Hakodate are also happy to return to the hotel I think it's a place is! You can stay with a large number of people, so I think it's good to stay with everyone on a trip with grandpa and grandma! However, please note that there is no hot spring!"

"The location is very good, close to the church group, convenient. The bathroom facilities are old, the shower angle cannot be adjusted, the water flow cannot be controlled, and the faucet must be turned on every time the switch is turned on and the hot water is adjusted to the right temperature, which is very inconvenient. The room was spacious and the bed was moderately hard and soft. The curtains were not shading and woke up early. The uncle at the front desk was very enthusiastic."

TT.K.198XThe hotel and service is fine. However, my overall experience is disappointing. First, staff could not communicate in English. Then, in the first room I checked in, I found a chunk of hair on the ceiling in the shower room. So, I go down to the front desk to complain; the staff changes me to the new room. When I came back to the hotel at 20.30. They already ran out of their free drink offer. The staff told me that after 20.00, they offer Y500 off from their drink. Again, I feel disappointed since they should tell me during the check in. Breakfast is ordinary, nothing special

GGuest UserI am very satisfied with my 2 days stay in this hotel. There are things that make the hotel a standout which are 1. Location and convenience . Walking distance to Jr station and the fact that it is right next to hakodate morning market offers the guest wide variety of choice for traditional jap seafood breakfast. You can get a variety of seafood and fresh fruits like strawberry n melon from the market. There are quite a number of restaurants where u can enjoy sashimi and seafood don. 2. Beautiful view from the hotel lounge and hotel room. The view was simply picturesque 3. Facilities. Both indoor n outdoor onsen available for the guests. U can enjoy soaking in onsen while enjoying the nice view it offered. Bringing comfort to the body and pleasure to the eyes at the same time. Washing machine, cooker and microwave oven is available in the room. It brings great convenience to travellers where we can wash clothes in own room without leaving the room 4. Friendly and polite staffs 5. It has own private parking that is charged at 1000 yen per night

GGuest UserWe booked this hotel for a special stay for our Christmas Day abroad and it did not disappoint. The rooms are cozy, spacious and quiet with very comfy beds. We appreciated the entry way with the closet and shoe rack. We also appreciated the shower with great pressure, the large sink counter and the Japanese style toilet. There was also a good amount of toiletries provided. We had Japanese style pajamas, slippers for the room, sandals to go around the hotel in and even slippers specifically for the toilet area. The room has a large TV and you can connect to it with an HDMI cable or screencast but we could not figure out how to screencast. The hotel primarily caters to Japanese so the important stuff was in English but the little things like the remote control and temperature control were not. We booked our stay with the buffet dinner and breakfast and for our stay it seems that all the greatest hits for Japanese cuisine were out. For dinner they had a steak grilling station, a BBQ scallop station, a sushi chef, crab dumplings and all kinds of accompaniments. For the dessert they had an array of tasty sweets but we enjoyed the macarons and Hokkaido ice cream the most. The breakfast was equally fantastic with a miso soup station, all kinds of sashimi, black pork dumplings, fried chicken and all kinds of crowd pleasers. There is a juice station and a coffee machine that makes all kinds of drinks so we were very pleased with the meals. We appreciated the plates and small dishes that allowed for small portions so we could pretty much try everything. Some items at the buffet did run out and these were specifically the small dishes - it is worth going early for breakfast and dinner because some items are not replenished and I found quite a few of these very delicious! There isn't much around the hotel other than a 7-11 and a small botanical garden across the bridge but it is definitely a hotel meant to stay in and enjoy. We went to the onsen at night and in the morning and really enjoyed the outdoor bath which was sea facing. At night you could hear the waves and see the stars and during the day you could enjoy the beach and mountain view. The onsen baths have a variety of temperature pools and saunas and good bath products. There is a machine that dispenses a few pop flavours, cold tea and mineral water in the change room. There was a variety of self care products available in the change rooms as well like toothbrushes and razors. Our room was very cozy after our bath and we found that the temperature for the hotel was possibly centrally controlled and not adjustable according to Google translation. It was set at a balmy 24 but we did figure out how to turn it off and got a comfortable night's rest. I wasn't a big fan of the hard toothbrushes that were provided mainly because the toothbrush used a coating rather than toothpaste which makes them truly single use. The hotel offers quite a few amenities outside of the onsen area but the onsen was the highlight for us. They have a lounge area with lots of seats looking out to the sea near the front desk, a separate restaurant from the buffet restaurant, a souvenir shop that sells drinks too and luggage storage. We aren't sure if there are multiple floors with laundry machines but the one laundry room we did find only had one machine so this might not be a hotel to do your laundry at. The hotel is easily accessible from both the train station and airport. From the train station you can take a bus or the tram which would take about 30 minutes and from the airport there are some dedicated busses that will take about 15 minutes. The bus station and tram station closest to the hotel is Yunokawa Onsen. This was a great stay for us and we felt one night here was perfect. There is a lot to see in Hakodate and had we stayed longer we would have chosen a more economical option but this truly was a special treat for us.

PPia alitRoom are spacious and clean, location are strategic, but service are really bad. I cant keep my luggage before my check in time, so i have to carry my heavy luggage with me for all day, and staffs here aren’t friendly at all, also they charge ¥5,000 for late check out even just for 5minutes. I stay in many hotel with higher and cheaper price but this place was really disappointing. All the things in this hotel are perfect, but i think they have to educate the staffs and other services.

PPietro150The Smile Hotel Premium Hakodate Goryokaku is a typical Japanese business hotel, so although the photos of the rooms may look as though the rooms are reasonably spacious, in reality it’s just a typical business hotel, with minimal space.  While this should not be a big issue for many guests, if you’ve not experienced it before, be ready for a rather space limited experience.  Having said that, the room was quite clean and apart from some scuff marks on the walls, it presented quite well.  It’s also important to note, that since it’s a business hotel the bathroom is quite small, with the bathroom wash basin protruding into the bath tub & shower area and the toilet was clearly designed for significantly smaller users.  Apart from changing towels, providing new slippers and replenishing coffee & tea supplies, there was no servicing of my room over the duration of my 3-night stay.  This is all normal, so be ready for it. The biggest annoyance was that there was no air conditioning available during the period I stayed.  This is hotel policy at this time of the year, and the management clearly think that guests have no right to control the temperature, and therefore enjoy some level of comfort in their room.  Because of this, on my first night the room temperature was approximately 25°c (although I couldn’t turn the air conditioning on, the control unit displayed the actual room temperature), which when combined with the fact that the bed has an arctic standard duvet (or futon - whatever you want to call it), the temperature of the room was NOT conducive to restful sleep.  When I enquired about this the next morning, the front desk clerk bluntly said “open the window”, which of course I had tried to do during the night, but for some reason the handle to open and close the window had been removed, making it impossible to open the window.  The clerk kindly offered to go to my room and open the window (presumably using a special tool) once I had left the room for the day, which he did.  The difference in room temperature was quite noticeable when I returned that the evening, but why this policy in the first place, and the belligerence and attitude of management about guest comfort is beyond me. The other issue was the WiFi, which was patchy and unreliable on my floor.  The only way I could connect any of my devices (2 phones & 1 tablet), was to go to the lobby, connect and then return to my room.  Once a connection had been established, I was able to reconnect whenever I returned to my room, however the strength of the WiFi signal varied considerably when making calls using various apps (e.g., WhatsApp, Line and FB Messenger) and therefore the call stability was unreliable with calls frequently dropping out.  When I mentioned this to front desk staff, they offered to reset the WiFi on my floor, however it made little difference. The above matters (air conditioning and WiFi) are all things that are taken for granted these days and are expected of any reasonable hotel, so to experience the difficulties outlined indicates to me that the hotel management is not really serious about guest satisfaction or comfort. Draw what conclusions you will from this review, but from my perspective, it’s is unlikely I would stay at this hotel again when I next return to Hakodate.

GGuest UserTransportation: 8 minutes from the airport, half an hour from JR, the station is right at the door, there is no shuttle bus, but they will come out to take the luggage and send it to the room. Room: The room is not big, the scenery is very good, although the weather was bad on the day I stayed there, but it was generally good. There are snacks and tea and beer in the refrigerator, and someone will come to make the bed at night. It’s just that the private bath has to be pressed all the time to get hot water, and the wind is very strong, and the curtain will blow away as soon as it is put down. Food: Booked one night and two meals, but the buffet was not particularly good, a little deduction, and there were no drinks for dinner! You can only buy it yourself! When I went there, the lounge was under maintenance, but the staff provided me with a vacant place and sent me drinks, thumbs up 👍. Public bath: Open 23 hours, 3-4 am is the cleaning time, there is a semi-outdoor hot spring on the 4th floor, and a sea view hot spring on the 7th floor. The male and female baths of the two hot springs will be exchanged, everyone remember to pay attention to the time. The only difference between Huayue and Chaosaotei is the scenery. The rest of the dining and bathing options are in the same area, so you can choose by yourself.
