"This is definitely my favorite hotel in Hakodate! The hotel is stylish, modern, and feels brand new. We stayed in the tatami room, which was incredibly comfortable for our family of five. The room was spacious and even had a dining area, making it perfect for relaxing after a day of sightseeing.
The breakfast buffet was excellent, with a wide variety of delicious Japanese and Western dishes to choose from. The onsen was another highlight of our stay—clean, relaxing, and definitely a must-try!
Overall, everything exceeded our expectations. If we're lucky enough to visit Hakodate again, we would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended for families!"

The hotel is just diagonally across from Hakodate Station, less than a ten-minute walk away. Since we arrived at noon and couldn't check in yet, the front desk staff guided us to a dedicated room for self-service luggage storage. We then asked for a map and advice on how to best plan our sightseeing in Hakodate. She suggested we take a taxi directly to Hachiman-zaka Slope, as the bus services there are infrequent. After visiting that attraction, we could then go to other sights like Mount Hakodate, Motomachi Park, and the Red Brick Warehouses. For tomorrow morning, we could simply enjoy a sea urchin rice bowl at the Morning Market before heading off to Asahikawa, making for a relaxed trip."

1. Unbeatable Location: Extremely convenient! Just a 1-minute walk from JR Hakodate Station and 1 minute to the Hakodate Morning Market.
2. Compact yet Functional Room: Although the room is on the smaller side (16 sqm), the layout is very well-designed, so it didn't feel cramped at all.
3. Smooth Service: Fast and hassle-free check-in and check-out process. We opted for a 2-hour late check-out for an additional 2,000 JPY, which was totally worth it.
Cons:
Elevator Congestion: The only real downside during our stay was the heavy elevator congestion during morning peak hours (08:30–10:30). If you are heading out during this time, make sure to budget a little extra waiting time!"

"Parking is easy to access and there are still plenty of car parks even if you arrive later in the evening, which we did. Lobby area provides free flow welcome drinks from the soda machine, which is quite a pleasant surprise.
The room layout that we had was very odd, not something we would have picked if we had known. The queen sized bed was placed in the middle of the room, facing the windows. Behind the bed post was a small area with arm chairs and an additional TV. The design intention probably was to create a lounging area away from the sleeping area but it’s a neither here nor there kind of space. The pillows provided were very small, more suitable for children than adults. I have attached a photo of the pillows. It’s the most uncomfortable pillows we ever had throughout our travel in Japan."

Check-in experience was a bit unpleasant when we arrived earlier (we knew we were early and weren’t requesting for early check-in). One of the male staff was quite unfriendly and kept repeating “no early check-in” when we were just asking whether we could store our luggage before check-in. He seemed quite impatient throughout.
However, the rest of the staff were good, and even lent us a knife and cutting board to cut the melon we bought. Location is great, right beside the morning market, and only about a 7-minute walk to the JR station. We came during spring so the walk was totally fine."

"The hotel's location is quite good, close to both Hakodate Station and the airport. You can walk to the station, and a taxi to the airport isn't overly expensive. However, I'm not sure why all the hotels were fully booked in early May. I stayed for two days but had to book different room types. The front desk surprisingly said they couldn't arrange for me to stay in the same room. This meant checking out at 11 AM the day before, leaving my luggage at the front desk, going out for four hours, and then returning to the hotel at 3 PM to check in again, which was quite inconvenient.
The facilities are a bit old, and there was a damp smell in the hallway. However, the toiletries were all Pola, which was a pleasant surprise. But the hotel didn't offer complimentary bottled water, so I had to buy it from a convenience store or vending machine outside."

"This hotel exceeded my expectations! The transportation is incredibly convenient; there's a bus terminal right downstairs, making it easy to go anywhere. I initially planned to take taxis in Hakodate, but Google Maps showed that all the buses I needed were right there, super clear and easy to navigate. Plus, there are plenty of dining options nearby. The hotel's large public bath is great – we didn't soak, just used the shower area, and the water pressure was fantastic and refreshing. If you go after 10:30 PM or so, it's not crowded, and having a small popsicle after showering was a nice touch. The hotel breakfast was decent, nothing spectacular, but those who enjoy sashimi would probably like it. The Lawson convenience store downstairs is also quite large."

"This was my first time traveling to Hakodate, and I think I picked a great hotel for my first impression of the city. The staff are always welcoming and greet guests in the lobby. The rooms are larger than those in many other hotels in Japan, and they are very comfortable. From my room, I had a nice view of JR Hakodate Station, which was a great bonus.
The biggest advantage of this hotel is its location. "The view is absolutely unbeatable! I stayed in the annex last time, and while the main building is a bit dated, the incredible scenery makes up for everything. The room size was just right, and the cleanliness was acceptable. Breakfast was definitely plentiful and delicious, better than the annex in my opinion, but in other aspects, the annex was superior. The front desk staff were quite good, but the other staff were just so-so, treating both Japanese and foreigners with the same rather indifferent attitude. Also, there's no private onsen (hot spring bath). Checkout was super easy and self-service."

"Excellent view of Pacific Ocean if the room is booked in premium tower ! Spacious and clean rooms with hot spring facilities in the hotel. Haven’t tried breakfast in the hotel. However seven eleven kind of shops are available close by. Lots of local seafood restaurants towards the Hakodate station which is just 800 m away, can reach by walk. All the major attractions are nearby and my personal favourite is the tram network and a very closer station matsukaze-cho ! Morning market and mt Hakodate ropeway station, small children’s park everything is connected by tram stations. Beach is just 600 m from the hotel with lots of seagulls and hazy Mountain View of Oma island overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Must visit place and highly recommended stay would rate as 9.8/10 ! Have a pleasant and relaxed stay here ☺️"

I stayed in a D-Fourth Non smoking room on the 8th floor. The room has a nice view of Mount Hakodate from the balcony and a view of the port from the bedroom window. Room was clean and there is daily cleaning if you ask for it. Cooking utensils are available though no condiments provided. The bath system is electronic and took a while to figure out how to use it. Room was spacious and adequate for 4 of us. What we loved is that while the dryer did not really dry our clothes (separate washer and dryer), the heater in the room was strong enough to dry them and we could borrow a rack from the hotel to hang them out to dry. Only improvement we would like to suggest - we arrived when it was snowing heavily, and as we moved our luggage into the room the floor became wet and dirtied, we had to clean with tissue as there is no floor cleaner available.would be nice to provide self cleaning tools especially since there is a kitchen and things might spill. And also the balcony did not have any ‘balcony’ shoes so it was just too cold to step outside to enjoy the scenary. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our stay in the hotel. Would choose it again if we go Hakodate.

Guest UserStay Mid May 2026. Located right in the center of area, Hachiman Slope just at the corner, Kanemori Red Brick just the next block. Walking just 10 min from Hakodate Station. Trem stop only 50 m in front of hostel. The building is super attractive. Amenities are tooth brush, hair brush, razor, night wear, bath towel, face towel. Share kitchen at 4th floor with magnificent rooftop view to the port day and night. It is absolutely amazing stay in here.

Guest UserI absolutely love Hanabishi Hotel — I had the best 2-night stay here. The hotel is quiet with no large tour groups, and I really enjoyed the traditional feel and relaxing vibes. I tried all of their room types, and my favorite is the futon room with a private onsen. The futon is very comfortable, and the room itself is incredibly spacious.
The staff are friendly and helpful, even assisting me with arranging taxi service. The location is convenient, only about a 10-minute drive from Hakodate Airport. I also loved both the breakfast buffet and the dinner set — they truly pampered me like I was the queen of the world.
The public onsen is beautiful and huge. I will forever choose to stay here whenever I’m in the area.

I'd call this unbeatable. First off, the front desk service was truly above and beyond my expectations. It was snowing heavily, and the bellhop was still waiting outside for guests to arrive, helping with luggage. The outdoor private onsen in the room was also exceptional; the view and atmosphere were incredible. The breakfast, with its unbeatable ocean view, topped it all off. I had a wonderful day in Hakodate!

I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Hakodate, the Izakaya next to the hotel is also highly recommended! The tram is just outside the hotel, lots of great restaurants in the vicinity. The hotel also provides umbrella for free use, which is extremel thoughtful and highly appreciated!

Guest UserKudos to this hotel. My stay there was amazing. The hotel is close to streetcar station, but during winter it still pretty challenging to pull your luggage. That is expected situation for any hotel in Hokkaido 😆. The receptionist was really helpful. She help to call taxi for me when I don’t know how to do so.

On the last day of my trip, I wanted to experience one of the top 100 hot spring hotels. Upon entering, staff knelt to greet me, and I was offered homemade matcha and cookies. The hotel had a rustic charm. Entering the room, I was immediately struck by its cleanliness and spaciousness. In the morning, I could see the sea and seagulls; sitting and sipping tea while daydreaming was incredibly relaxing.
