SvetaLLovely hotel. People working here are really kind and will do their best to recommend places you want to see. Close enough to old town (a little bit of a walk) but more local area. Possible to walk to the morning market and JR Station (about 15 minutes) and there's other restaurants quite close by as well (including one that is famous for the salt ramen of Hakodate). The hostel itself was clean, and comfortable. Hakodate was wonderful to visit for a few nights as well and I could have easily stayed longer at this hostel!

The lovely old gentleman serving as at night was one of the best front desk staff I’ve ever met.
We originally planned to arrive at the property in the afternoon. However, our flight was cancelled and we had to seek alternative, delaying our arrival time until 23:00. When we arrive, we thought we will be self-checking in. But as we step inside the property from a heavy snow, we saw this kind gentleman waiting for us right at the door. He greeted us, helped us check in, and explained everything clearly. He offered us free flow free drinks and free ice cream (which was also very tasty) When we wanted to have some late night snacks bought from a convenient store, he also helped us reheat the food. 誠にありがとうございます!
Everything else was great as well! The room was comfortable, the breakfast was yummy, and it’s so nice to have a hot spring after out in the cold for the entire day.

뭉수리Free breakfast is served from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM, and free udon is available from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM. There's also a public bath and sauna on the 7th floor of the hotel, open until 10:40 PM. I highly recommend A-GATE Hotel for budget travelers! Two thumbs up!

Guest UserThis hotel has just been renovated! Honestly, the exterior looked really old and the path to it felt a bit remote, but as soon as I stepped inside, my opinion completely changed! It's incredibly clean inside, everything is brand new, and the amenities are very well-prepared. I usually stay in budget accommodations, and this is the first time I've found such a clean place with a TV! It was so good one day that I just stayed cooped up in my room...

This hotel was absolutely perfect for the price, exceeding all my expectations! The lobby bar on the first floor offers complimentary hot drinks, and it seems there's even a gym available for use. The room was meticulously clean and came equipped with a women's toiletry kit and other amenities. It's just a three-minute walk to Hakodate JR Station and the bus terminal. Right across the street is Hakodate's famous soup curry, and there's a convenience store and Saizeriya nearby.

Guest UserFirstly, it's quite a walk from Hakodate Station. Although it might not look far on the map, it's fairly isolated and away from the main bustling areas. We arrived at night, dragging our luggage, and the route became progressively darker. After passing a gas station, we found it – a small building right next to a car park.
Secondly, both the rooms and the front desk are located on the second floor. The front desk is quite small and shares its space with the restaurant.
The room itself was decent; while compact, it had everything we needed. However, the price felt high compared to what standard hotels offer.
Next time I go to Nihonbashi, I'll definitely avoid weekends, otherwise, even capsule hotel prices will be through the roof.

The service is amazing for the price. It was so good that I would definitely choose this place again if I'm staying in this area.
The sauna was spacious and very nice. The shower rooms were also well-equipped. There's no large public bath, so it might not be suitable for those looking for that, but I highly recommend it for sauna lovers!
Other services are also amazing. I was pleasantly surprised by the lounge, relaxation area, a little ice cream after the sauna, and free breakfast – things like that were included too.

The location is excellent, just sandwiched in the middle. I entered the room before 14 o'clock, and thank you for the front desk. The bed was small and the room was small, but just an area was empty to spread out the large suitcase, and the design was very good. The warm light effect is very good (in fact, it is 2 bulbs 💡) The hand sanitizer smells good. Disadvantages: Dry laundry

The location is at the Yunokawa Seaside. The view from the seaside rooms is amazing, and the outdoor hot springs can directly see the sea, which is amazing. However, the room facilities are old and the toilet is not smart. Can you believe that Japanese public toilets are all smart, but the toilet in this hotel is not smart. I went there in winter and it was cold. The experience was terrible. But the price is relatively friendly, so I can only bear it. Next to the hotel is the famous botanical garden, where monkeys take a hot spring bath

Guest UserThe room itself was a little bit small and quite cramped. Just about enough space for one. But if you are plus sized it might seem too small. The toilet was also slightly narrow.
Facilities were great, with onsen available. Within touching distance of the local public street car and bus stop. Front desk were really friendly and helpful despite the limited English spoken. They also operate early from 8am till fairly late 10pm. And the nearest konbini was also only about 200m away.
