"Our stay at Steigenberger Hotel Cologne was completely unacceptable. The air conditioning in our room was freezing and malfunctioning, despite numerous requests to reception. Staff gave us conflicting information, empty promises, and failed to coordinate or resolve the issue. This constitutes a clear breach of the services promised at booking. Under consumer rights and hotel service regulations, we demand an immediate full refund for this stay. Failure to comply will leave us no choice but to escalate the matter through legal and consumer protection channels. Unser Aufenthalt im Steigenberger Hotel Köln war völlig inakzeptabel. Die Klimaanlage in unserem Zimmer war eiskalt und funktionierte nicht, trotz zahlreicher Meldungen an die Rezeption. Das Personal gab widersprüchliche Informationen, leere Versprechen und unternahm keinerlei Maßnahmen, das Problem zu beheben. Dies stellt eine klare Verletzung der bei der Buchung zugesicherten Leistungen dar. Nach Verbraucherrechten und Hotelservice-Vorschriften fordern wir die sofortige vollständige Rückerstattung. Sollte dies nicht erfolgen, sehen wir uns gezwungen, rechtliche und verbraucherschutzrechtliche Schritte einzuleiten."

"The hotel I stayed in during my time in Cologne was generally a decent, practical choice, with no major flaws, but also a few surprises. Small supermarkets and small eateries are nearby, making daily groceries and meals convenient. The room was of moderate size, spacious enough for a single occupancy but a bit cramped for a double. The furniture and furnishings showed some signs of use, but were generally clean and tidy, and the bedding was perfectly soft, ensuring a pleasant sleep. The bathroom had a nice, dry/wet area with a reliable hot water supply. The toiletries were basic, but those with skincare needs are advised to bring their own. Regarding service, the front desk staff were friendly, efficient, and helpful. Check-in and check-out were both prompt and helpful. They patiently answered questions about directions to attractions, but they didn't proactively offer any extra touches (such as local recommendations or extended luggage storage). Breakfast is a simple buffet with basic items like bread, ham, eggs, coffee, and juice. The taste is quite satisfactory and can satisfy your hunger, but those who seek a richer meal may find it a bit monotonous. "The best part of the stay was the desk attendants ( Olga and Constance). They did everything they could to make the stay the best it could be.  Overall the room was way overpriced for what it offered. The room was lacking many of the standard amenities that other hotels offer. Even to the point you have to request room cleaning and hope to get it. We stayed 10 days and never received a room cleaning although we requested it."

Maybe I did it wrong, but that was the only downside."
