Universal Studios Beijing App: Tickets, Map & Park Guide
By Leona
July 29, 2026
The Universal Beijing Resort app is your essential digital companion for exploring the park. It features an interactive map, real-time wait times for attractions, and a full show schedule.
However, there are some significant hurdles for travelers from Singapore: registration requires a Chinese phone number, and SMS verification codes often fail to reach international numbers. Plus, in-app payments are limited to Alipay or WeChat—international Visa and Mastercard cards are not accepted.
A reliable way to buy tickets is Trip.com: pay with an international card, get a QR code via email, and enter the park with your passport—no SMS verification required.
What is the Universal Studios Beijing App?
The full name is "Universal Beijing Resort Official App". The app was created specifically for the Beijing park: versions for Osaka or Singapore will not work, as each park has its own platform. The interface is available in Chinese and English.

How to download Universal Studios Beijing App on iPhone and Android?
The park's official website features a download page with links for iOS and Android, as well as QR codes for mini-programs.
iPhone (iOS)
Open the App Store and search for "Universal Beijing Resort" — the app is available in the App Store of various countries. It is free to download. Once installed, the app opens in English by default — there is no need to switch your account region or use a VPN. Before your trip, it is worth making sure you have the latest version of the app installed.
Android
There is no official app on Google Play. The official website's download page features a QR code for downloading, as well as direct links to Chinese app stores—Huawei AppGallery, vivo App Store, and Xiaomi GetApps. While it is technically possible to download from these stores while in Singapore, you will need to register for one of them, and the interface will be in Chinese.
It is not recommended to download APK files from third-party sites due to the risk of counterfeiting.
A handy trick for Android users is to use a WeChat or Alipay mini-program instead of installing the full app. You'll get all the same essential features—check out the section on mini-programs below for more details.

Can I register Universal Studios Beijing App with a Singapore phone number?
Registering in the app requires a phone number and SMS verification. The system is designed for Chinese phone numbers: while the form supports selecting an international country code. According to feedback from international users, this is one of the most common points of failure.
What the process looks like?
Open the app and tap Sign Up.
Select your country code.
Enter your phone number and request an SMS code.
If the code doesn't arrive within a few minutes, resending it usually won't help. The issue is on the server side, not with your phone or mobile carrier.
What to do if the code doesn't arrive?
If you already have Alipay set up with an international card linked, you can use it to log in to the app—this way, you won't need an SMS code. However, this method is unstable: since the end of 2025, linking foreign cards to Alipay has become more difficult, so it's best not to rely on it.
If that doesn't work either, don't waste time trying again. Tickets, express passes, and bookings are available on Trip.com without needing to link a phone number or receive SMS confirmation. For park maps and queue tracking, a mini-program in WeChat or Alipay is sufficient, where the authorization process is much simpler.

How to buy Universal Studios Beijing tickets if your card is declined?
In the app, tickets can be purchased in the Store → Tickets section: select the date, ticket type (standard or with an express pass), enter your passport number, and pay via Alipay or WeChat. If one of these apps is already set up with a linked card, the purchase will take just a few minutes, and the ticket QR code will be saved in the app.
Restrictions for foreign cards
The official app does not accept international Visa and Mastercard cards directly—payment is processed exclusively through Alipay or WeChat. When using Alipay or WeChat with a linked foreign card, an additional fee of about 3% may be charged on amounts over 200 yuan. The exact amount depends on the payment system and the transaction total, so be sure to check the current terms before making a purchase.
An alternative is Trip.com
If you don't have Alipay or WeChat set up, booking tickets on Trip.com removes all the hassle:
Payment — international Visa, Mastercard, and UnionPay cards with no extra fees.
Confirmation — the QR code is sent to your email.
Entry to the park is by passport, with no need to register for Chinese payment systems.
Booking — tickets are dated, and entry reservations are processed automatically.
To enter the park, international guests need a passport. The number is provided at the time of purchase and checked at the entrance, so the details must match.

Great park! Multiple locations, amazing rides! Special thanks for the park app with a map, brief ride descriptions, and live wait times for all rides! It saved a ton of time! I was able to ride almost all the park's rides in one day.

It's a great park, perfect for both kids and adults. There's plenty to see and do. We loved everything. The show at the castle was fantastic.

We visited the park at the end of July. It was very hot, and the lines for some rides were 1.5 hours long, but overall, the wait was bearable; the line was constantly moving and the fans were running. We particularly enjoyed the roller coaster and Harry Potter's castle. The Minions' cafe had delicious lunches. We bought tickets on trip.com; entry is with a pass. Guests brought their own water and snacks, and they weren't taken away at security.
What else can you book in the Universal Studios Beijing App?
In addition to admission tickets, the app offers several extra services. All of them are paid for via Alipay or WeChat—once your payment app is set up, booking takes just a few taps.
Universal Studios Beijing Express Pass
Open Store → Express Pass and select a package. Two options are available: a general one (for all major attractions) and one for individual attractions. Popular packages sell out quickly, especially during peak season and on weekends—it's worth booking in advance. Specific packages and prices change, so check before your trip. If you don't have Alipay or WeChat set up, you can purchase an express pass on Trip.com using an international card.
Hotels and restaurants
You can book a room at the park's official hotels via the Store → Hotels section. Guests staying at these hotels get entry one hour before the general public. Some restaurants support online queuing and pre-ordering food through the app, but you'll need a Chinese payment app for that too—in practice, it's easier to just order at the counter.

What to do at the Universal Studios Beijing: lines, map, shows
Even without full registration and payment, the app remains a useful navigation tool inside the park. A stable internet connection is all you need to access these features—there is free Wi-Fi in the park, but an eSIM for China will provide more reliable coverage throughout the day.
If you don't have the app or the mini-program installed, you can still check out the basics—like the park map, list of attractions, and show schedules—on the official park website using your mobile browser. While buying tickets on the site will redirect you to the app, the navigation section is accessible without any installation.
Ride wait times
Open the map section and select Rides — the current wait time in minutes will appear next to each attraction. The data updates in real-time, helping you plan your route so you can start with the rides that have the shortest lines.
Show schedule
The Shows section features all performances, parades, and character meet-and-greets, complete with times and locations. No reservations are needed—admission to shows is free, but it's best to arrive 15–20 minutes before the start. The schedule may change throughout the day, so be sure to check for updates periodically, especially in case of bad weather.
Park map
The interactive map shows the locations of attractions, restaurants, shops, restrooms, and lockers. Filters let you display only the categories you need, which is especially handy in a large park.
The park officially supports WeChat and Alipay mini-programs—lightweight apps that open right inside the messenger and don't require a separate installation on your phone.
For Android users, this is often the most convenient option: there's no need to figure out Chinese app stores or take risks by downloading files from third-party sites. Just open WeChat or Alipay and find the Universal Beijing Resort mini-program using the built-in search.
The mini-program interface is also in Chinese and English, but Alipay has a built-in translator. The QR codes for both mini-programs are posted on the download page of the park's official website—you can scan them right from your computer screen.
The main features are the same as in the full app:
Interactive park map
Wait times for rides
Show and performance schedule
Information about services and restaurants
The limitation remains the same: purchasing tickets and booking paid services within the mini-program requires a linked Chinese payment method. However, for navigating the park, tracking queues, and planning your day, the mini-program is a perfectly adequate substitute for the app.
👀Pro Tip: To stay connected throughout your visit, consider getting a China eSIM. Just activate and go!
Can I download the Universal Beijing Resort App outside China?
Yes. International visitors can download and install the app before travelling to Beijing. However, the main challenge is usually not downloading the app but completing registration, as some overseas phone numbers may not receive the verification SMS code.
Can I pay for Universal Studios Beijing tickets with a foreign credit card through the app?
The official app may not support direct payment with some overseas Visa or Mastercard cards. Payment is mainly supported through local Chinese payment methods such as Alipay or WeChat Pay.
For international travelers, purchasing tickets through platforms such as Trip.com with overseas payment options can be a more convenient alternative.
Do I need my passport to enter Universal Studios Beijing?
Yes. International visitors must present a valid passport for entry. Other forms of identification, such as a Singapore NRIC, are not accepted. Passport details are required when purchasing tickets.
Do I need to install the Universal Beijing Resort App before visiting?
No. Installing the app is not mandatory. Visitors can also access essential information, including park maps, attraction wait times, and show schedules, through Universal Beijing Resort’s WeChat or Alipay mini programs.
Basic park information is also available through the official website using a mobile browser.
Can I use the Universal Studios app from Osaka or Singapore?
No. Each Universal theme park has its own official app. For Universal Studios Beijing, you need to use the Universal Beijing Resort Official App.
