carrascooHonestly, staying at this hotel for my first time in Beijing truly broadened my horizons and changed my perception of the city.
My wife, our child, and I came to Beijing for the May Day holiday. She said since we're here, we might as well splurge and experience a traditional Beijing courtyard.
It truly delivered a top-tier luxury experience. The room layout was excellent, the courtyard views were charming, the service was impeccable, and the location was superb with an abundance of food delivery options. Breakfast was all made-to-order. The only thing we missed out on was the bar and hotel activities, but there's always next time.
I do have two minor points of discomfort to share, just for reference:
1. When our taxi pulled up to the hotel entrance, a staff member immediately asked me what I was doing there. I was a bit taken aback at first, then explained I was checking in. I'm not blaming him; perhaps I was dressed too casually, but it did feel a little off-putting.
2. On our last day, breakfast felt less crowded, but the food service was incredibly slow. We went at 10 AM, thinking half an hour would be plenty for breakfast, especially since the day before our food arrived in about 15 minutes. This time, we waited half an hour just for the dishes to arrive.
Overall, it was absolutely wonderful, and I'd definitely go back if I get the chance. It left a lasting impression, and thinking about it now still brings back such lovely memories, especially sitting in the courtyard at night, listening to music and watching the stars 💫

XiaoqiyaokaixinyaThis time, I stayed at a hidden gem of a hotel near Universal Studios! You can see the Universal cityscape and even Harry Potter's castle right from the room 🏰, which my kids absolutely loved – they kept snapping photos themselves.
The hotel is conveniently located right next to Wangfujing Bay, with direct access to the mall from the third floor, making dining and shopping incredibly easy!
During the peak summer season, compared to the Universal Studios Hotel, this place offers fantastic value for money. The stay experience was top-notch. Our butler was exceptionally thoughtful; since it was my child's birthday, they upgraded our room, sent a cake, decorated for the birthday, and even provided 'Little Prince' toiletries for kids.
The hotel is very new, so the room facilities are all fresh and clean. It's also larger than the standard rooms at the Universal Studios Hotel, and the soundproofing is quite good. Ordering takeout was also very convenient!
A special thank you to Joanna Jessica from Guest Relations. She communicated very thoughtfully even before our check-in and was always prompt in her replies after we arrived, making our stay even more comfortable. I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit Universal.

Hgchia76Although Beijing XinYuan Hotel is not a newly built property, it is well-maintained and continues to meet the standards of an official 5-star hotel. The hotel offers a comprehensive range of facilities, including an indoor swimming pool, a fully equipped fitness centre, a complimentary self-service laundry room and several restaurants, making it suitable for both leisure and family travellers.
The hotel is not located within the main tourist district and most major attractions are some distance away. However, this is not a significant inconvenience because the nearest metro station is within walking distance. Travelling by metro is straightforward and convenient while taxi or ride hailing services can usually reach most popular attractions within about 1 hour, depending on traffic conditions.
One notable advantage is that the hotel has front desk staff who are able to communicate in English. This makes the check in process and general enquiries much easier for international visitors who do not speak Mandarin.
Breakfast is served from 7:00 AM. In practice, if the buffet has been prepared before the official opening time, guests are generally allowed to start dining slightly earlier. The breakfast buffet offers a wide selection of dishes with an emphasis on traditional Chinese cuisine. The menu changes slightly each day, providing some variety for guests staying several nights. The dining area also includes automatic coffee machines and tea beverage dispensers, allowing guests to prepare drinks quickly and conveniently.
Guest rooms are well equipped with essential amenities. Complimentary bottled drinking water, tea bags and instant coffee are replenished daily. Standard toiletries are provided including toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, razors and other necessities, allowing travellers to pack lightly.
The beds are comfortable and provide good support for a restful night's sleep. The bathroom has strong water pressure and a reliable hot water supply that remains stable even during extended use. The air conditioning system performs well and maintains a comfortable indoor temperature. Each room is also equipped with a humidifier, which is particularly useful during Beijing's dry climate and helps improve sleeping comfort, especially for families with children.
Overall, Beijing XinYuan Hotel offers excellent value for travellers seeking comfortable accommodation with complete facilities, reliable service and convenient transport connections. While it is not situated beside the city's main attractions, its easy access to the metro network and reasonable travelling time by taxi make it a practical and enjoyable base for exploring Beijing.

Guest UserThis hotel, located right next to the CBD, is incredibly grand, luxurious, and upscale. The facilities are brand new, everything is spotless, the environment is beautiful, and the service is absolutely fantastic. The front desk staff, especially, were exceptionally friendly and helpful. They even gave us a thoughtful little gift for the Dragon Boat Festival!

Kuailechuxing339The hotel's location is excellent, right next to Wangfujing Pedestrian Street, surrounded by luxury shops, making it very convenient to get around.
The Mandarin Oriental's attention to detail is superb. The understated luxury and 'old money' vibe are precisely my style. The vanity room is spacious, and they prepared welcome fruits and snacks, a bottle of red wine, and even pear soup, along with a beautifully written welcome letter. It truly made me feel right at home.
Breakfast is a mix of buffet and à la carte, with fresh, organic ingredients and amazing flavors. I even had breakfast alongside the Russian ambassador at the next table! Sipping a coffee with a Forbidden City latte art design on the large terrace overlooking the Forbidden City, I truly experienced a taste of royal life. So happy! 😃

RudyMadrigalI’m truly grateful for this specific service apartment—it has been absolutely ideal for my stay in Beijing. It fits my needs perfectly, and I feel safe and at ease staying here.
Due to my severe allergies, I could not stay in a standard hotel. Outside food holds too many hidden risks, filled with unknown plants and herbs that trigger my reactions. Cooking for myself is the only way I can stay healthy.
I recently tried breakfast here and accidentally ate Chinese cured bacon, mistaking it for regular bacon. It was smoked with local vegetation I’m allergic to, which immediately caused an allergic response.
This experience showed me how vital this service apartment truly is. Having a full kitchen lets me control every ingredient I eat. In an unfamiliar city where so many foods carry hidden allergens, this apartment gives me the safety and stability I desperately need.

Guest UserFinally got to check out the InterContinental hotel I've been wanting to visit! The decor is high-end and luxurious, and the bedding and bathroom amenities are top-notch, leading to an excellent night's sleep. A huge thank you to Guest Relations Mika and Aira for their outstanding service. They proactively came to our room with a welcome amenity and were always ready to assist with any small requests. Their patience and professionalism in handling everything, down to the smallest detail, perfectly embody the InterContinental brand's premium service philosophy.

My kids absolutely loved the room.
I'm conflicted about the service score. The front desk staff was incredibly welcoming, easily a 5/5. The cleaning staff were also very friendly.
However, I'm giving a 2-star rating because there's no dedicated drop-off/pick-up area at the entrance; you have to stop on the street. Also, it seems the hotel cuts costs by not having doormen. When I arrived, it was drizzling, and I had several suitcases and two kids. I had to drag everything into the lobby and then up to the room myself, with no help whatsoever. For a hotel costing over 2,000 RMB a night – I spent over 10,000 RMB – I didn't receive even the most basic service.
Comparison truly highlights the shortcomings. The day before, after arriving in Beijing late at night, I decided to stay at the airport Hilton for one night, which cost just over 900 RMB. There was a free shuttle bus at the airport entrance, and the driver immediately got out to help load my luggage onto the bus. From the moment I got off the shuttle, there were staff greeting me and helping with my bags, escorting me into the lobby and offering all sorts of assistance, even delivering my luggage directly to the room.

KaixinguofeimeiI booked this hotel for my Mexican clients who were traveling in China. They absolutely loved it and said it's a hotel they'd choose again if they came back to China. They specifically mentioned that the front desk staff were very friendly and the breakfast was delicious. They even said they'd be back!

Guest UserHere I am again, after less than a month! This time I even braved a heavy downpour to get here. My flight circled over Beijing for an hour before landing, so I didn't get to the hotel until after midnight. It was another one of those check-in and check-out on the same day trips.
I was already feeling pretty groggy, but thankfully, Bella at the front desk was incredibly warm and enthusiastic. She handled everything super quickly and thoughtfully, getting me checked in no time. Once I got to the room, I even bothered the staff to open and close the window for me. They made two trips late at night – I'm really grateful, though I regret not catching their names.
This time, my room had an even better view! When I woke up in the morning, the sun was even out, and my mood instantly brightened, just like the weather.
I got back late from lunch, but luckily, they extended my check-out time. By the way, I once again ran into the ever-elegant Ms. Rose Xiao. She checked out my room card for me at the very last minute.
This trip was truly a whirlwind. As expected, after the storm, there's always sunshine!
(I hope I got both employees' names right; I always worry about misspelling them.)
