When people talk about the Mandarin Oriental Wangfujing, Beijing, they often label it as a 'luxury hotel in the hutongs,' a 'hidden gem along the central axis,' or a 'masterpiece of the Qianmen regeneration project.' But if we set aside these external definitions and focus purely on the stay experience, the deepest impression it left on me can be summed up in two words: sheer comfort. This comfort doesn't stem from any single specific amenity, but rather from an overall feeling. Tucked away deep within Beijing's Qianmen hutongs, stepping through the gate from the bustling streets into the courtyard felt like entering a different dimension of time. Grey bricks, dark tiles, courtyard walls, and tree shadows – all elements were distinctly Beijing, yet without any forced emphasis on being 'Beijing.' The design didn't just stop at symbolism; instead, it re-organized the hutong courtyard lifestyle, truly allowing guests to live in a modern Beijing courtyard home. Beijing in the summer is particularly suited to this place. The afternoon sun dappled through the leaves onto the courtyard, with doves perched quietly on the branches. Sitting in the courtyard, watching the clouds drift slowly between the eaves and grey walls, you suddenly understand why old Beijingers always said, 'There must be a tree in the courtyard.' The tree not only provides shade but also marks the passage of time. The wind changes, the light changes, and the tree shadows change. Many mention its 'hidden location in the hutongs,' but what's truly worth experiencing isn't just the hidden aspect, but rather that elusive relationship with Beijing's urban culture. Outside the walls are the hustle and bustle of Qianmen, while inside, the unique sense of scale characteristic of courtyard living is preserved. Looking up, you see the sky; looking down, you see tree roots and青砖 (qingzhuan - traditional grey bricks); occasionally, birdsong can be heard. These seemingly ordinary details become precious in today's city. The service also left an excellent impression. It wasn't an overly enthusiastic kind of service, but rather a sincere and well-measured attentiveness. Help was always there when needed, yet they maintained an appropriate distance when not. Many high-end hotels can achieve professionalism, but it's not easy to make guests feel genuine care, and this place truly has that ability. Near check-out, I had a chat with the duty manager, Chloe. What began as a simple conversation unexpectedly became a memorable part of this stay. She meticulously detailed the design philosophy and spatial characteristics of the hotel's 42 rooms, patiently explaining everything from the layouts of different courtyards to the subtle differences between rooms. One could feel her genuine understanding and passion for this hotel, which in turn gave me a more complete appreciation for this hidden hutong gem. My special thanks also go to Chloe for her insights and hospitality. Upon leaving, I felt that the most precious aspect of this hotel wasn't its luxury, but rather how it has preserved the ambiance of courtyard living in a rapidly changing city like Beijing. Shade from trees, grey walls, summer clouds, birdsong. These seemingly ordinary things collectively form a part of my memory of summer in Beijing. If staying at a hotel is about experiencing a space, then the Mandarin Oriental Wangfujing is more about experiencing a Beijing way of life. It may not be for everyone, but for those willing to slow down and embrace the city, beauty can be found everywhere here.

This stay truly exceeded our expectations, and we especially want to thank the duty manager, Alex Chi. We actually encountered a few minor issues at the beginning of our stay, and I thought it would just be an unremarkable experience. But then Alex appeared, patiently listened to our concerns, and resolved everything professionally and promptly. His attentiveness was evident in every detail – a gesture, a glance, a moment of listening – making us feel truly valued. It was a real privilege to meet such a perfect manager. The hotel's design is exceptional, especially the Library area, which is quiet and stylish; it's a delightful place just to sit and relax. The doorman was also very thoughtful, making us feel welcome every time we entered and exited. The breakfast service was excellent too, with exquisite food and prompt service. We will always remember this stay.

Overall, it's a good hotel in all aspects. The young man at the entrance immediately offered to help us with our luggage as soon as he saw us. After checking out, a lady in a cheongsam gave a teddy bear to my child, who was very happy. However, there was one strange incident: we didn't touch any drinks in the fridge, but housekeeping claimed we drank a bottle of Alien electrolyte water and withheld a 15 yuan deposit. When we called to inquire, they quickly processed the refund for the 15 yuan, so their problem-solving efficiency was excellent. But it's still quite strange where that drink went. This minor incident didn't affect the overall experience; the hotel is still very good.

I've stayed at Ascott many times, and it's consistently excellent in all aspects. The rooms are incredibly spacious, and the amenities like the fridge and washing machine are all fully equipped. The environment is also very quiet; you barely hear any noise. It's super convenient for dining and drinks, with plenty of restaurants nearby. There's also Xiao Taihou Park close by, and it's not far from the subway station – about a 10-minute scooter ride.

This hotel boasts an excellent location, being very close to the National Art Museum of China, Guardian Art Center, and Capital Theater, making it incredibly convenient for visiting exhibitions and shows. The Line 8 subway station is also just a stone's throw away, ensuring easy access to transportation. The rooms are clean, hygienic, and well-equipped. The air conditioning works effectively, and the shower has good water pressure, providing a pleasant experience. The front desk staff were very friendly and proactively upgraded my room upon check-in. When checking out, I accidentally left some clothes in the room, and the staff promptly contacted me, which I greatly appreciated! If I have the opportunity in the future, I would definitely be willing to stay here again! I must also highlight that the hotel's dining environment is elegant, and the dinner offers a good selection of Southeast Asian specialties from Vietnam, Thailand, and India, which tasted quite good. However, a slight drawback is the breakfast. While the variety is rich, offering both Chinese and Western options, the taste, such as the Zhajiangmian, was just average. We had originally booked three days of double breakfast, but we only went on the first day and had no interest in going again afterward – simply because there were too few appealing options. If the quality of the breakfast could be improved, it would be absolutely perfect!

Firstly, the hotel's environment and facilities are excellent. However, for a hotel of this caliber, I can only give it a bad review. The service is extremely poor and lacks professional hotel management knowledge. During check-in, the front desk staff missed many details that should have been communicated, and their business handling skills and techniques need improvement. Next, I'd like to specifically mention Mark from the concierge department, whose attitude was extremely hostile, arrogant, and disrespectful. I promised you a bad review, and you'll certainly get it! I have no idea how hotel management trains their staff. After Mark learned I was a Black Diamond member, he repeatedly incited his colleagues to harass me by phone, asking me to 'go easy on them,' which brings me to the second person. The second person I'd like to name is Zhao Jing, Assistant Director of Housekeeping. I genuinely **cannot** understand how someone like this can become a mid-level manager at a hotel like InterContinental. After Mark's colleagues repeatedly harassed me by phone, I intended to give them a break. I mentioned that I had booked two rooms, and my other guest was about to arrive at the hotel to check in. I asked them to provide good service. Zhao Jing, I ask you, why in the world did you **harass** my guest when the issue was between us!? My guest reported that from check-in to riding the elevator to their room door, a staff member (Zhao Jing) kept pestering them to speak well of me and 'go easy on them'? She relentlessly badgered them the entire way. Any issues between us can be resolved directly. I had clearly stated that it was my guest. Do you, as someone who works in a hotel, not understand the meaning of the word 'guest'? I ask you! Why did you go and harass my guest?! Is this the InterContinental hotel's way of service? Who would dare bring important guests to this hotel with service like this? Furthermore, Zhao Jing repeatedly harassed me from the afternoon of check-in, to the evening, and until the next morning, despite me having clearly told her at least six or seven times, 'I do not want to receive any more texts or calls from you.' Buddy, I came to the hotel to rest. Otherwise, I could just go argue with people on a bridge all day, couldn't I? Before checking out, I had the opportunity to communicate in person with General Manager Mr. Mao. I hope Mr. Mao handles this properly, and I would like to thank him for arranging a car for my departure. On a positive note, I can commend the chef at the hotel's Chinese restaurant on the third floor; their cooking is quite skillful.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A wonderful hotel that I'd love to return to! My son and I stayed here, and our experience exceeded all expectations. For my son's birthday, the hotel staff gave us a free upgrade to a themed kids' room. My son was absolutely thrilled—it was one of the highlights of our trip to Beijing. A huge thank you to the management and staff for such attentiveness to guests! I especially want to commend the hotel staff. Everyone was incredibly polite, friendly, and always ready to help. The concierges repeatedly assisted us with calling taxis and answered all our questions, which made traveling around the city very easy. The room was exceptionally clean, quiet, and cozy. The hotel has a pleasant aroma, and the classic interior creates an atmosphere of tranquility and comfort. Breakfasts were also a pleasant surprise: a wide selection of dishes, including European items, so everyone can find something to their taste. We were very pleased with our choice. From the very beginning, the service was impeccable, Manager Kang went above and beyond by personally reaching out to us before we even arrived to ask about our preferences and dietary needs. His thoughtful care ensured that every detail of our stay was seamless, comfortable, and wonderfully personalized. Here’s a breakdown of our fantastic experience: 1. Facilities & Accommodation We booked two connecting rooms, and both were spacious, fully equipped, and meticulously maintained throughout our stay. The housekeeping team did a stellar job keeping everything spotless. One small but much-appreciated perk was the unlimited supply of bottled drinking water available at any time, a true lifesaver given how much energy we burned during the day's activities! 2. Dining Experience The culinary offerings were a definite highlight. We thoroughly enjoyed the lavish breakfast and dinner buffets, which offered a great variety of fresh and flavorful dishes. The all-hours noodle bar was a game-changer, serving up hot dumplings, pasta, pizzas, and comforting noodle soups whenever we needed a quick bite between activities. Pro tip for families: ******* delivery doesn't reach the resort, so we’d recommend packing a few favorite snacks for the little ones just in case. That said, we never left the table hungry, overall, our dining experience was absolutely delightful. 3. Endless Activities for All Ages We were wonderfully busy every single day, thanks to the incredible range of age-appropriate activities. Our 4-year-old son was in pure heaven, spending his days exploring the vibrant kids' play areas and splashing endlessly in the swimming pools, which are wonderfully child-friendly with warm, comfortable water. Our 6-year-old daughter, on the other hand, embraced her adventurous side! She conquered the rock-climbing wall, soared with joy on the trapeze, and challenged us to lively games of outdoor table tennis and badminton. The after-dinner parties at the theatre were the cherry on top, she loved dancing on stage, joining in the quirky games, and being mesmerized by the breathtaking circus performances. A massive shout-out to the incredible G.O. team! Their boundless energy, genuine warmth, and incredible patience with the children truly made our stay extra special. 4. Exploring the Surroundings The resort’s location also offers lovely opportunities to venture out. We took the local train to explore the scenic surrounding areas and even visited a nearby vineyard to harvest fresh grapes, it was such a fun, hands-on experience for the whole family. The grapes we picked were incredibly sweet and juicy, and we also bought some excellent local wines to bring back as gifts for our relatives. Back at the resort, the outdoor activity areas, including pony rides, added even more charm and variety to our days. Final Verdict Club Med Yanqing Beijing delivered the perfect balance of relaxation, adventure, and top-tier hospitality. Manager Kang and his wonderful team made us feel truly valued as guests, and the sheer variety of activities kept both our kids (and us!) happily engaged from morning until night. We left with full hearts, tired legs, and beautiful memories. We are already counting down the days until we can return!

I stayed at this hotel for three days last week for a business trip to Inner Mongolia. I'm back today and plan to stay for another week, as I prefer familiar places and don't like switching hotels. I booked a king room, but since there was no showerhead (I have a wound and can't use a shower), I asked the front desk to switch rooms. Instead of an upgrade, they downgraded me to a twin room. I even told them that I saw plenty of rooms available online, so why couldn't they upgrade me? I will never choose this hotel again. As for the dining, I thought it was good, and the restaurant staff were nice. However, the room's cleanliness wasn't great; the bath towel and floor mat were placed together, and the room wasn't cleaned thoroughly. The swimming pool was pretty good, though.

Upon checking in, Miss Zoe at the front desk was incredibly enthusiastic. When I asked about upgrading my room type, she immediately and proactively helped me check and change it, quickly finding me a room with a better view. She was patient and polite throughout our conversation, very efficient, and took the initiative to explain the hotel facilities. Her attention to detail showed thoughtful service, and she was serious and responsible in addressing guest needs. She's an excellent front desk staff member! 👍
