The Universal Studios Grand Hotel

Stepping into the Universal Studios themed hotel felt like being transported into scenes from multiple classic movies. Best of all, the kids got up close with the Minions, and the early park admission was incredibly convenient. The park's various rides combine special effects with real-world settings, offering a truly immersive experience. Although there were queues for the attractions, the fantastic shows, realistic settings, and overwhelming sense of nostalgia made the whole day fulfilling and joyful. This visit allowed us to experience the magic of imagination and technology, leaving us with relaxed and unforgettable memories.

Traveling with a child, I opted for the Universal Studios Grand Hotel for convenience. The hotel's first floor offers a private entrance to Universal Studios for guests, saving us from long queues, and we also had the perk of early park entry one hour before opening. We, unfortunately, overslept and missed out on this benefit, which was a bit of a shame! We arrived at the hotel around 1 PM, and were told our room wasn't ready. We were offered an immediate upgrade to a Minions-themed room by adding money or purchasing breakfast and dinner. (Looking back, I wonder if this was a bit intentional? But it was hot, and I thought the child was tired, so we went ahead and bought breakfast and dinner, and upgraded.) Aside from suites, all rooms are about the same size, around 30 square meters, differing only in decor and location. Some offer park views (more expensive), while others overlook Universal Boulevard. Our upgraded Minions room had a view of Universal Boulevard and the bustling queues below. The two 1.5-meter double beds were quite a plus! Honestly, dinner was quite mediocre. We arrived past 7 PM, and there were only about 15+ people. The food was pretty average, except for the barbecue (which was amazing!) – we mostly ate the freshly grilled barbecue. At over 300 per person, you could eat much better outside, but it was an experience. Breakfast was better than dinner (just my personal opinion) and included interactive elements that the child really enjoyed. The Red Dragon Lounge in the lobby has a nice atmosphere, with a retro Hollywood style. I took my child to experience the bar's ambiance in the evening, and the non-alcoholic drinks were excellent! If I go again, I'd like to try the NUO Hotel; I hear it's quite good too.

The Minions themed room was a nice experience overall. My only minor gripe is that for a room costing over 2000 per night (we stayed for two), they didn't provide any take-home Minions souvenirs. Having stayed at Disney-themed hotels before where they always offer little gifts, I felt a bit let down. To make matters worse, I heard that if you pay for breakfast at the front desk, you can get a free upgrade to a Minions themed room – that really made me question the value! 😂 When I asked the staff what upgrades were available for an already themed room, one staff member offered to check, but another quickly said there were no upgrades since it was our last day and we had already checked in, adding that promotions are random. This really made me feel that there's room for improvement in the hotel's operational details. On a positive note, the housekeeper was very friendly and deserves praise. As for breakfast, it was pretty average – more about the ambiance and photo opportunities than the food itself.

Since it was peak holiday season, I didn't have high expectations. Honestly, my stay here exceeded them! The room was newer than I expected, and the service was much better than anticipated – very patient and attentive. It's very close to the park and also quiet. Super convenient, you can walk downstairs straight into the park or for a meal. The restaurant food was delicious, and the tableware was quite new. New hotel facilities are really important. Our child loved it, and we also felt it was a great place to rest and recuperate after a long, hot day. Overall, it was comfortable and very good!

The hotel environment is fantastic, right at the park entrance. It's incredibly convenient. You can go back and forth between the hotel and the park an unlimited number of times. The hotel room is superb, super spacious, comfortable, clean, and bright. The hotel view is also unbeatable; you can see the park right from your window! The hotel staff are also very warm and attentive, especially Wang Xinyu from Guest Relations. Their service was excellent; they proactively checked in on my needs before and after check-in. Perfect for families with kids, with a fantastic location. Early park access significantly cuts down on waiting times, the atmosphere is immersive with a cinematic feel, and it's easy to find places to rest. A special shout-out to our hotel butler, Wang Xinyu, for their incredibly thoughtful service. They added us on WeChat a day in advance, had our room all set, and made check-in a breeze, saving us a lot of time. Looking forward to our next visit!

I booked this hotel for its convenience to Universal Studios. This time, I didn't stay in the Minion-themed room but a regular one, which was very ordinarily decorated, similar to a Hanting or All Seasons. It wasn't as good value for money as the Minion-themed room. The breakfast was also unappetizing. Check-in was after 4 PM, which was very inconvenient. The staff's attitude was also poor; they were unsmiling, and several employees gave perfunctory answers and were unhelpful in solving problems.

The room isn't as big or new as the NUO Hotel, which also has a large sofa. However, its location is a big plus – it's close to Universal Studios, making park access convenient. It was great for our family trip with the kids to Universal, and the front desk staff were very accommodating during check-in. Thumbs up!
