"Traveling with seniors and children, choosing the POE Hotel was absolutely the right decision! The location is excellent; we could walk to Elephant Trunk Hill and East-West Alley, and the Twin Pagodas were right across from our balcony – it felt like we were staying inside the scenic area. The room was spacious, bright, and very comfortable. The hotel's restaurant was also delicious, and the staff were warm and polite. This is the best choice for a family trip to Guilin! 👍"

BBLACK.WThe room design is simple and cozy, and the cleanliness is impeccable. The mattress is just the right firmness, which significantly improved my sleep quality! The bathroom has a separate wet and dry area, the hot water supply is stable, and the toiletries are of good quality. The Wi-Fi is fast, and the transportation is convenient. There's also a parking lot, and restaurants are right downstairs. The rooftop view is amazing for photos! It's just a few minutes' walk to West Street. Overall, it exceeded my expectations, and I highly recommend it!!! Great value for money!!

The location is also fantastic, making it super easy to get to all the nearby attractions. The service was wonderful, too – it truly felt like a home away from home. Plus, having a drying rack in the room was a really convenient touch. If I get the chance to visit again, I'll definitely be staying here!

Daily housekeeping kept everything spotless, and all the basic amenities were thoughtfully provided.
One of the highlights was the coffee shop conveniently located right downstairs—ideal for a morning pick-me-up or a relaxing afternoon break. But what truly made the stay special was the owner. She speaks fluent English, so communication was smooth and easy. As someone who doesn’t plan much in advance, I found her local guidance absolutely invaluable. She mapped out routes and recommended hidden gems that made my trip unforgettable.
She’s also a talented painter! The beautiful cards you’ll spot at the reception desk or in the bathroom are her own hand-drawn creations—such a lovely personal touch that adds character to the place.
If you’re a cat enthusiast, prepare to be delighted—they have a whole feline family that adds a warm, homey vibe to the property. 🐱
A minor note: the room’s proximity to the main road means it can get a bit noisy in the evenings or early mornings. Personally, it didn’t bother me much—after a full day riding the scooter I rented from them for just 30 RMB, I slept like a baby.
Also worth mentioning: this is the perfect spot for travelers who prefer peace and quiet over nightlife. It’s close enough to the action for convenience, but far enough to enjoy restful evenings.

The butler service is attentive and thoughtful; upon check-in, fresh fruit and welcome tea were immediately provided, and they were always available when called.

Rroundy00The environment at The Sugar House is absolutely stunning, no doubt about it. The hotel activities are also excellent; I tried both the complimentary morning yoga and Tai Chi classes every day, and the instructors were fantastic. The included travel photography session was also great, with a very natural style. I also have to praise the hotel restaurants – both the food and the ambiance are superb. Whether it was Chinese cuisine, Western dishes, or casual meals, everything was well-prepared. We also tried the hotel's paid activity, the Via Ferrata, which was a lot of fun! My only minor complaint is that it was too short and didn't last long enough. The only real downside was actually the room. Given that it's nearly 10 years old, it felt a bit dated, and the decor style was a bit outmoded. BUT! Overall, I'm very satisfied and would definitely choose this hotel again!!

GGuest UserTaking advantage of the college entrance exam holiday, I traveled to Yangshuo alone. This stay was quite good. When I first arrived at Yangshuo Station, I was planning to just hail a Didi, but decided to call the hotel just in case. To my surprise, they quickly arranged a shared ride for me, which was incredibly convenient! Thumbs up! Once I checked in, the room was an absolute delight. It looked clean and tidy at first glance, and I really liked the layout.
Facilities: The hotel has a laundry room, electric scooter rentals, and tea available in the lobby. There's also a swimming pool on the 2nd floor and a large viewing platform on the 8th floor. All the amenities matched what was advertised during booking. ☺️☺️

EelbartoThis was the start of our 2-week journey through southern China by train from HK. It rained incredibly hard the most we stepped off the train, so we were very happy to arrive at the Shangri-La and enjoy their wonderful service and amenities.
We enjoyed an early evening couple's massage on an offer of buy-one-get-one-free, which was absolutely wonderful.
Breakfast buffet was good, not amazing, but had a wide selection of foods available.
The gym was better equipped than most hotel gyms I've encountered.
Our bed was enormous! I'm around 190cm but even I felt small in this bed 😂
Would definitely stay here again! 💯
