First off, for this price, the room size and cleanliness are pretty good. I checked in around 2 AM, super late and tired, just wanted a shower. But there was no hot water. I let it run for a long time, then called the front desk. They said to insert the room card to turn on the power, and hot water would be available in about 20 minutes. So I waited, but still no hot water. Then I realized I also had to turn on a switch myself, which is fine. But when I called the front desk, they just told me to wait after inserting the card. I finally saw the switch and turned it on, then waited another 40+ minutes. They said it would reach 60 degrees, but after an hour, it still hadn't even hit 40. Seriously annoying, couldn't even take a shower because there was no hot water.

This hotel offers incredible value for money and an outstanding customer experience! I arrived quite late, and the front desk staff warmly greeted me, asking if I was tired. They even upgraded my room! The room was huge, comfortable, and spotless. From the moment I arrived, I felt such a welcoming atmosphere. I ended up staying for three nights without hesitation. This will definitely be my top choice next time I'm in Shanghai.

It’s located roughly halfway between the stations, but since the price was cheap and they said it’s a 15-minute walk from every station, I booked it thinking I had nothing to lose.
Also, it had an elevator and the reviews were good saying it had recently been renovated, so I just went...
The cleanliness was very good; everything was tidy in its own way.
But it is seriously, insanely cramped. 😭😭😭
There’s nowhere to put a suitcase, let alone a bulky backpack. Taking things out of your bag to store them? You can’t even dream of that...
I’m not joking; you can’t even fully open a suitcase, and there isn’t even enough space for a standard 24-inch suitcase.
I’ve traveled to Japan quite a few times, but Japanese accommodations feel like paradise compared to this... Don’t trust the photos in the Trip.com reviews... 😭😭

The room was small, but the bed was big; the space was practically the width of the door. For a layover and only one night's stay, cleanliness and quiet were paramount, and this room met both criteria. The only downside was the extremely low temperature. The air conditioning was on heating, but it didn't seem to warm the room much. Those sensitive to the cold would likely find it unbearable; the bed was still icy cold in the morning, and I was curled up, afraid to even turn over. Otherwise, it was fine and worth the price.

One of my favorite ones in Shanghai. It’s close to metro station 3/4 West Yan’an Road, Donghua university. They offer relatively cheap accommodation. The breakfast is decent and rooms are clean. Moreover they offer cozy lobby where you can hang out or work, self service washing machine on the first floor. So far so good. I got free room upgrade for this stay, yay!

The room was very clean and the service was super friendly. For this price point in Shanghai, the value for money is excellent. Highly recommended. If you're visiting the Bund in Shanghai, I suggest staying here – it's only a few stops away on Metro Line 2. Right next to the hotel, there are restaurants offering Hunan cuisine, Shanghai dishes, and Lanzhou pulled noodles, all at very affordable prices.

Hyatt Place Shanghai Tianshan Plaza enjoys a very strategic and convenient location, making it an excellent choice for both business and leisure travelers. The hotel is situated less than a 10-minute walk from the nearest train station, which makes getting around the city extremely easy. In addition, there is a large shopping mall directly opposite the hotel, offering plenty of dining, shopping, and entertainment options. With these amenities so close by, the hotel is within easy reach of almost everything a business traveler might need during their stay.
During my visit, my spouse and son accompanied me, and the room setup worked out very well for our small family. The sofa bed provided in the room made it comfortable enough to accommodate three people without feeling cramped. The room itself was spacious, well-organized, and maintained to a high standard of cleanliness, which made our stay even more pleasant.
Another highlight of the hotel is the excellent service from the staff. The housekeeping team was consistently friendly and attentive, ensuring the room was well maintained each day. The reception staff were also polite, welcoming, and professional, always ready to assist with any questions or requests. Overall, the combination of a great location, comfortable rooms, and attentive service made our stay at Hyatt Place Shanghai Tianshan Plaza a very enjoyable experience.

CCiky2023Our romantic winter getaway began the moment we stepped into Dino Starry Resort, immediately feeling a warm welcome. Unlike a typical hotel's impersonal atmosphere, the staff here felt like old friends, making us feel right at home and completely relaxed.
Getting to Disneyland was a breeze with their Mercedes shuttle, which departed at our pre-arranged time. Breakfast was plentiful, and our room was spotless and tidy. The overall environment was lovely, and there were even small animals in the backyard that we could feed for free.
The biggest surprise, though, was experiencing authentic winter fun. We gathered around a traditional earthen pot stove, warming ourselves and chatting, or enjoyed a steaming hotpot cooked in a vintage hanging pot. On sunny days, we even had a lively outdoor BBQ with plenty of smoke and laughter. From the rustic charm of the earthen pot to the nostalgic feel of the hanging pot and the vibrant energy of the BBQ, this place had it all.
Dino Starry is more than just a place to stay; it's a wonderful space where you can unwind, leave your weariness behind, and relive cherished moments. Come and gather with your loved ones here, and collect a whole winter's worth of warmth amidst delicious food and laughter!

Best location and 5-stars to the patient staff that make a Shanghai visit memorable!
Great communication with the hotel staff that made us feel most welcome with a toiletries package for a 4-night stay. Shanghai can be intimidating to intrepid travellers that don’t speak Chinese, which is why many foreigners join organised tours. We appreciate the welcome email prior to arrival with directions.
We were spoiled with the 5-star cruise aboard the Yangzi Explorer discovering cities along the Yangtze River in a tour group with bilingual guides. There are so many optional activities in Shanghai, and these were the highlights suggested by the hotel staff that spoke in English and occasionally used a translation device for clear communication. They wrote the Chinese name which was helpful as we wandered the maze of streets in this old part of Shanghai. The staff were patient with our limited Chinese and Lucas helped us with Chinese lessons.
These were the top picks, all within walkable distance, except ERA2.
· TAN Sichuan in Yu Garden for dinner on arrival
· The famous Nanxiang Steamed Bun Restaurant in Yu Garden for the traditional handmade xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) for brunch
· High tea
· Dinner at The Fellas (chateaubriand for two) rooftop bar with a a breathtaking view of the Bund and Pudong skyline
· Jazz in the Long Bar in Waldorf-Astoria Hotel on the Bund, though we also went to hear the Jazz Band in Peace Hotel but don’t waste your money on the CNY480pp minimum spend where there was no vibe where even the musicians seemed bored. Great lively vibe in the Long Bar for a FUNtastic night enjoying cocktails and music with same prices we pay at home in a spectacular setting
· POP on the Bund (Three on the Bund): Rooftop venue with 270° panoramic views of the Huangpu River and Pudong skyline
· Yu Garden, People’s Square, Shanghai Museum and nightly walk along the Bund to view the futuristic Pudong skyline lit up across the river is an absolute must.
· ERA2, Spirit of Shanghai at World Circus – 250rmb pre-pay on Trip.com with clear directions, every seat is good though there are 3 prices at the box office.

GGuest UserOur family stayed here for 4 nights, and it was a wonderful experience. The location is perfect close to Middle Huaihai Road station, and we enjoyed taking a pleasant stroll over to West Nanjing Road.
This hotel was exactly what we were looking for: a peaceful atmosphere away from the crowds. The room features were top-notch, including individual air conditioning control and an automatic smart toilet. While there is no formal breakfast, they provide complimentary tea, coffee, popcorn, and soda, which was a lovely touch.
The staff is truly the highlight of this place. They went above and beyond to help us with everything. A special shout-out to the young lady working the night shift she was incredible! She helped me order diapers and navigated the process until it was successful, using a translator to communicate with me throughout. I was so touched by her dedication. Some staff members also speak English, which made our stay much easier.
Inside the room, the TV had great channels that kept my daughter entertained with cartoons, and the sound system was absolutely superb one of the best I’ve experienced.
We definitely made the right choice staying here. I highly recommend this place and will certainly return. Trust me, you will love it here!
NNishikinoMakiThis is currently one of the most worthwhile hotels to stay at/experience in Shanghai, far superior to those in skyscrapers (like the J, etc.). The room is decorated with incredible style, and the completeness of the facilities makes it hard to believe the hotel was built in 2009. Everything you can and can't imagine is there; the room is definitely worth exploring. The breakfast is also great, semi-buffet style but with excellent quality 👍. The only minor drawback is that some facilities are a bit old, and buttons aren't always responsive. But I think the pros far outweigh the cons. Highly recommend checking it out!
CCurious TravellerGreat location if you are heading for Disneyland or has an early flight to catch the next morning. Otherwise it is quite far from Shanghai city center - JingAn area- with no traffic - 45 min taxi ride) The hotel offers free shuttle to Disneyland which departs the hotel at 7:20am; and returns to the hotel at 10:20pm. It was a bit late for us since we finished watching the fireworks at 830pm. (Disneyland closes at 9:30pm ). So we just took a taxi (very few people waiting and cost ~RMB50; while the online car service costs ~R30 but the waiting area was very congested.
The free shuttle to Putong airport departs on the hour and starts from 4 or 5am and takes less than 30min. Need to book one day in advance at the front desk.
Our 3 persons family room has a double bed and a proper single bed( not fold up bed). Spacious enough for luggages.
The negatives - we booked and paid for 3 persons - but hotel only offered breakfast for 2. We booked 2 nights but only has breakfast for one day. Strangest arrangement I have ever seen.
BF - has reasonable options of Chinese and western cuisine . Noodle Bar was the best.
Night snack- also has noodle bar with dumplings and congee.
Rraymond WangI have to give a huge shout-out to the concierge team at Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund! Special thanks to our dedicated concierge, Aaron Tom Brin. As soon as we stepped out of the car, he immediately helped us with our luggage. He also thoughtfully provided tips on the best photo spots and sightseeing routes along the Bund. When he found out we wanted to try local cuisine, he quickly helped us book a table at a popular old-school Shanghainese restaurant, which is usually incredibly hard to get into. His responses were super fast throughout, and the attention to detail was exceptional. We truly felt the warm and attentive service that a high-end hotel should offer✨
JJingmozhuliunianI specifically booked this old Shanghai villa guesthouse, expecting a vintage-style renovation, but it turned out to be genuinely old! The house is ancient, the furniture is ancient, and it still retains many old artifacts. There are also signs of use from what feels like decades ago. It was a great experience, allowing me to soak in the gentle, slow-paced life of Shanghai. Nanchang Road is right downstairs, making city walks incredibly convenient. It's a fantastic spot for photos, though my ultimate destination this trip was Lhasa, so I didn't bring many nice clothes, but I did get some good street shots. It even fulfilled my wish to cycle, something I couldn't do in Qingdao, haha! Very good, very good indeed~
SsignxService: The best hotel I've ever stayed at! No exaggeration. I've tried many hotels in Shanghai, including Shangri-La (Jingan, Pudong), Ritz-Carlton (Pudong), Peninsula (Bund), Shanghai Tower J-Hotel, Grand Hyatt, Kempinski, Disney hotels, Westin, Kerry Centre, Sheraton... Apart from Banyan Tree, which I'm not interested in, and St. Regis, which I tried in Sanya, and Waldorf Astoria, which I haven't had the chance to visit yet, I've checked out almost all the hotels my child and I were interested in.
Honestly, W truly impressed me.
From purchasing the package and booking the dates in advance to phone communication, the staff consistently displayed genuine warmth and professionalism. They meticulously noted all my requests, ensuring accurate internal communication.
On the day of arrival, I wasn't feeling well and my tone wasn't great. Yet, the front desk staff listened attentively and with incredible patience throughout. This level of internal training deeply impressed me. There was none of the arrogance I've experienced at the Peninsula or Ritz-Carlton; instead, it was full of understanding for the customer. I actually want to come back and stay again soon! 😂
I even joked with the hotel staff, asking if this excellent service was because I booked a suite. 😝 But then again, I had suites at Shanghai Tower J-Hotel and Ritz-Carlton too, and the service there was... well, let's just say it was different.
At the W, it's not just the front desk and lobby; even the staff helping with the elevator and the cleaning crew in the basement are incredibly cheerful and sincere. I love this fresh, uplifting energy and team.
Facilities: The facilities are clean and hygienic, and every room has a bidet toilet seat, which is a nice touch!
Environment: Very clean, and most importantly, the view across the river is absolutely stunning.
Hygene: The hygiene is excellent, very clean. And their response time is super fast.
If I had to pick one downside, it would be that the配套 facilities at Magnolia Plaza are a bit too low-end, haha. They really don't match the W's standard.
DDeeXWe enjoyed our stay at Guisu very much. The room is nice and clean with old Shanghai style. The location is perfect to go anywhere you like in Shanghai. You can walk to Huaihai Road easily and nearest tube station Shaanxinan Road is only 5 minute away. The host is really helpful. We left an old luggage and some cardboard boxes that they all helped to clean up. Thank you so much for your hospitality, which made our experience in Shanghai truely enjoyable and memorable. I would love to go back and stay there again.i
AAnonymous UserThis is my second time staying here. The room is quite small, but the main thing is that it's very clean, and they provide disposable towels. It's conveniently located in the city center, making it easy to get anywhere, and there are plenty of takeout options and popular spots nearby to check out!
