"Expensive, but if you're looking for a luxurious hot springs stay, it's worth it. Includes entrance to the nearby Yunessun, which is a quick walk down the street. Bus stop immediately across the road helps with reaching other parts of Hakone easily. I got one without the in room onsen, but there is a public one inside the hotel itself and the room had a balcony with a gorgeous view of the mountain instead. Very authentic hot springs experience"

"The navigation to the hotel wasn't very accurate, and there were some communication issues when I called. Online, the hotel didn't have a name, but it's actually called 'Yoyo.' If you navigate to 'Yoyo,' it's spot on. The staff here aren't Japanese. The facilities are comprehensive and clean. You can bring pets to the hot springs, but there are time slots. You can't shower in the room, but the room itself is spacious, and you get a direct view of the lake from the window. Overall, I think it's pretty good."

"This guesthouse is run by a couple from Shandong who have lived in Japan for many years. They rent this beautifully designed wooden house, which is made with high-quality materials. You can see Mount Fuji just by crossing the road outside. That evening, we had a beef hotpot there, which really warmed my family's Chinese stomachs. The next day, it snowed. The owner drove us to Gotemba at noon to catch the JR back to Tokyo, otherwise, we wouldn't have been able to make it back. We were so lucky."

"This time, I booked a hotel on Trip.com without any prior research, and I wasn't disappointed when I arrived. I opted for the 'one night, one meal' package, but in retrospect, 'one night, two meals' might have been more convenient. Getting there was easy, with convenient bus stops at Kowakien and Tenyu stations. The surroundings are lovely, and the cleanliness was up to par. The room even has a bathtub for a natural hot spring bath! It's real hot spring water, and they only charged a few dollars for two uses, which is very reasonable. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied."

"Our Hakone trip's biggest surprise was definitely staying at the Ashinoko Hanaori ryokan. The entire experience was fantastic, far exceeding our expectations. I especially want to highlight the rooms, the food, and the private onsen! The rooms were surprisingly spacious, a clever blend of Japanese and Western styles. Even with family, it never felt cramped. The furnishings were exquisite and tidy, and all amenities were well-provided. Sitting by the window, gazing at the beautiful Ashi Lake scenery, was incredibly relaxing. The food was another huge plus for the ryokan. The buffet breakfast and dinner offered a wide variety, featuring fresh local ingredients. There were both characteristic Japanese dishes and delicate desserts, all with a refined and authentic taste. If you book in advance, you can even dine with a lake view, making it a feast for both the eyes and the palate. But the private onsen was the absolute highlight – amazing value for money and incredibly private. The bathwater was warm and soothing, and soaking in it completely relaxed my body, washing away all travel fatigue. Taking a dip in the private onsen at night, accompanied by the tranquil night sky and a gentle breeze, created an utterly immersive and therapeutic atmosphere. The ryokan's convenient location was the icing on the cake. It's directly opposite the Togendai transport hub, making travel incredibly easy. Whether you're heading to Ashi Lake for the pirate ship, or taking the ropeway and buses to various attractions, you don't need to go out of your way – the boarding points are within walking distance, saving a lot of hassle. What was especially convenient was that our plan for the next day was to travel from Hakone to Mount Fuji. We could take a direct bus from Togendai to Gotemba; the schedule was convenient, the journey smooth, and there was no need for extra transfers, which significantly saved travel time and made our trip more worry-free and efficient. The ryokan's service was also very thoughtful. The overall experience was excellent, suitable for both family trips and romantic getaways. It's definitely our top choice for accommodation in Hakone, and we'll certainly stay here again next time!"

"Ryokan was quite out of the way, so best to get there by driving. We were served with delicious wagyu/kobe beef shabu-shabu meal upon arrival, it was delicious and comforting as it was cold outside. Room was really clean and spacious with your own toilet and sink but shower area is together with the public onsen. Breakfast was scrumptious too!"

"The room was okay, and the ocean view was amazing to look at all day. Atami is a great place to explore at a leisurely pace, and I'm sure staying at this hotel would be even better during the fireworks festival. However, it's a bit of a bummer that the ¥2,000 refund for not having the room cleaned can only be used at the hotel shop. And after I used it up, they asked me to pay the hot spring tax in cash without clearly telling me if that ¥2,000 could have been used to cover it. 🙄"

"The room was nice and cozy with a private onsen on the balcony. It was a bit of a walk from the train station, which can be quite difficult when you have luggage. I thought it was a bit odd that we had to rent a yukata as it is normally provided in onsen hotels, but otherwise all else was good."

"I had a wonderful stay at Hakone Yutowa. The hotel was very clean, and the atmosphere felt warm and cozy—especially perfect during the winter season. One of the highlights was the free-flow alcohol selection, which included plum wine, Japanese spirits, whisky, and beer. They also offered a nice variety of snacks like spicy biscuits, nuts, cakes, and mochi, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The only downside is the location—getting to restaurants or a convenience store requires a bit of a walk. But overall, it’s a comfortable and relaxing place to stay, especially if you’re looking to unwind."
