Thanks to other guests for mentioning the transportation in their reviews. Getting to the hotel from Odawara was a bit of a hassle, but once I arrived, I felt it was absolutely the right choice. The hotel's location is excellent, with mountain views from the room, and it's clean and tidy. The free, unlimited ice cream at the hotel is delicious and definitely deserves a special shout-out. Breakfast was plentiful, and the dinner buffet was fantastic, with all-you-can-eat sashimi and unagi don, plus surprisingly tasty lobster, and a wide selection of drinks. That evening, I enjoyed the outdoor hot spring all to myself, facing a waterfall and forest – it was incredibly relaxing. The hotel's shuttle bus is very convenient! The staff were very attentive and detailed in their service, with great attitudes and thorough explanations! Apart from the tricky transportation, everything else was wonderful.

Wish we could have stayed longer. Check in experience was good, food was great. The Onsen experience was one of the highlights of the Japan trip so far. The hotel even had its own mini tori gate and shrine.

We stayed here for 1 night and we loved everything about it - the room layout, the buffet dinner (fresh sashimi!) , breakfast (with snow crab!), and the crown Jewel of all :  the onsen, both private and public. There’s a Family Mart convenience store nearby if you need snacks or drinks. Our pleasant surprise was the public bus to Gotemba factory outlet - and the first bus stop is right outside the hotel thus you’d be guaranteed a seat! Our stay at Ten-Yu was wonderful and, and I’d highly recommend to couples on vacation.

The best hotel I stay during my trip compare to the same level and pricing of hotel. Breakfast and dinner are tip top. Unbeatable with other hotel. Service also very good. The onsen and free ice cream is a plus point. Nothing to complaint in this hotel. If can give 6stars, I will give them. Definitely will go back to Hakone because of this hotel

Hakone Kowakien Ten-yu is a truly comfortable and relaxing ryokan that made our stay very enjoyable. The staff were attentive and welcoming from the moment we arrived by car, and they promptly helped unload our luggage and delivered it to the hotel. They also assisted with carrying our luggage back to the car during check-out. The room was well-equipped, clean, and very hygienic, and the high-floor view was wide and beautiful. Breakfast and dinner buffet were both satisfying, with delicious food and a good variety of choices. The onsen was also impressive, with two levels of outdoor baths that are alternated between men and women at different times, allowing guests to enjoy both. The water park-style onsen area was a bit less impressive, but overall, this ryokan deserves a very high rating. The official site highlights its open-air onsen, private baths in all rooms, and well-regarded dining, which matches the strong overall experience here

This time, I booked a hotel on Trip.com without any prior research, and I wasn't disappointed when I arrived. I opted for the 'one night, one meal' package, but in retrospect, 'one night, two meals' might have been more convenient. Getting there was easy, with convenient bus stops at Kowakien and Tenyu stations. The surroundings are lovely, and the cleanliness was up to par. The room even has a bathtub for a natural hot spring bath! It's real hot spring water, and they only charged a few dollars for two uses, which is very reasonable. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied.

A great onsen hotel, especially the infinity onsen on the 5th floor. Both dinner and breakfast were buffet-style and quite delicious. You can also have unlimited cold drinks.

The rooms blend modern Japanese comfort with thoughtful amenities. A standout perk: some rooms come with a massage chair, perfect for unwinding after a day exploring Hakone. The private open-air onsen in every room is a true luxury natural hot spring water on your own balcony, available anytime. The experience is relaxing, intimate, and effortless. Views are generally stunning, framing Hakone’s mountains and treelines. However, be aware: some rooms face the hotel’s large parking lot, where constant car noise and movement can ruin the scenery. Staff service is attentive, friendly, and pleasant.

Had a fantastic onsen experience! They have all sorts of facilities, but the absolute best part was the free-flow ice cream – a total dream come true for any ice cream lover, I was so happy! (*∩_∩*)′ They had so many flavors. It would be even more perfect if they also had soft-serve!
