A wonderful hotel with an onsen. We stayed for 2 nights in a Japanese-style room. We enjoyed the food at the traditional dinner (drinks included) and the breakfasts. The tea room was lovely. Highly recommend staying here.

This hotel is wonderful! The location is superb, right next to the funicular station, Gora. From Gora station, it's quite a steep climb, which would be tough with suitcases. You can take the funicular one stop and then walk on a flat path. Nearby are Hakone Park (free entry with Hakone Free Pass), Gora Brewery, and a grocery store. I really liked the accommodations; the rooms are spacious and well-equipped. You can pick up beautiful yukata for free near the elevators on each floor. Herbal tea is also available. The traditional kaiseki dinner lasts an hour and a half and includes drinks like fresh beer, plum wine, whiskey, shochu, sake, gin, juices, and lemonades. You can choose your dining time: 5:30 PM or 7:30 PM. Besides the hot springs themselves, the onsen also features a jacuzzi, sauna, and cold bath. In the fridge, there's cold fruit drink and ice cream. Overall, I had a most pleasant experience during my visit.

The room was very clean and tidy. I stayed in a room with an open-air bath, and the view from the bath was lovely. Bath towels were provided specifically for the open-air bath, and there was even a convenient place outside to put towels, which made it easy to use. I just wish the bathtub was a little bit bigger. The food was absolutely delicious. It was served as a course meal, brought right to our table. We also had eel, which was incredibly tasty. Breakfast was a buffet. The bread was so good, I had seconds! There is no smoking area.

Positives 1. Large spacious and clean room. Certainly an upgrade from the smaller Tokyo city rooms we were in. 2. The medicinal tea bar was a hit with our group and an interesting touch to the hotel. 3. The public baths (onsen) were well maintained and clean. 4. The hotel provides yukata robes that you can change into. 5. Breakfast and dinner were decent and necessary judging by the limited number of eateries in the area. There is Gora Brewery just behind the hotel and a Daily Yamazaki convenience store just 1 min walk. 6. You can get to Gora Park in 1 min. Tips to get from Gora station to hotel and vice versa 1. Walking. The steep slope is really not for the faint hearted. 2. When you get off at Gora, hop onto the Tozan line from Gora and get off at Koen Shimo (1 stop). It is covered if you buy the Hakone Free Pass. From Koen Shimo, it is a straight walk to the hotel. Much easier than climbing the slope. 3. Hotel shuttle. From Gora station exit, turn right and you will see an underpass. Go through it and this is where the shuttle picks / drops. We didn’t manage to find out how to get the shuttle from Gora station, but from the hotel - you should book the shuttle in advance as it can get full especially during check out time.

Great location. Love the outdoor onsen in our room as well as the one in the hotel. Enjoyed the kaiseki dinners and the tea sachets that we can make ourselves.

A nice hotel that falls short in a few key areas. As a foreigner, be warned — you may feel somewhat alienated, with staff treating you noticeably differently to Japanese guests. The onsen is pleasant but on the smaller side, and the sauna fits only two people at a time. Dinner was good, though the set menu leaves little room for flexibility. If you have dietary requirements and aren’t fluent in Japanese, don’t expect much accommodation. Room quality and beds were excellent. However, the staff attempted to charge us ¥3,300 for checking out just 15 minutes late — worth being very aware of the 10am checkout time. Overall a mixed experience, and one I’d hesitate to repeat

A delightful hotel with its own onsen and a private bath on the balcony. A magnificent ceremonial Japanese dinner is included in the rate.

The climb up the mountain from the station is incredibly steep. The cable car is comfortable, but it only operates until 5 PM. The onsen (hot spring) was just so-so. The men's side was only indoors, while the women's had an outdoor section. The Kaiseki dinner was also mediocre, but breakfast was good. The room was large but poorly laid out. The bathroom was a special kind of nightmare – extremely small, which is odd given the room's size, and oddly elevated on a high step. The reception area was inconvenient. Check-in was via a tablet. We arrived at 8 PM, exhausted, and had to muddle through a check-in 'quest' when all we wanted was to quickly get settled and go to bed. I definitely wouldn't want to return to this hotel.

Come again since 2019, as well-known, the market pricing is higher after recent years, this time's price almost doubled. However, after the room has been refined, but not so roomy like years ago, dinner downgraded as well. Last time, the room has 2 bathtubs, one inside at restroom, another on the balcony!
