GGuest UserThe buffet breakfast was plentiful, and the shuttle bus was convenient. A ********* lady enthusiastically helped us book a French dinner, which we really appreciated! Traveling is all about taking your time. If I could have breakfast at the hotel in the morning and then relax by the hotel's private lake in the afternoon, that would make for a perfect day!

TTim NazarovWe were looking for onsen with private bath on the balcony and probably hit the sweet spot. Unfortunately we had only 1 night stay, but it was fantastic. Onsen is located at the top station Gora, where you can get from Odawara. That’s around 2 hours from Tokyo all together, around 3 hours from Kyoto. Last 2 sections of the way are going through a picturesque steep railway. Views are great! Be sure to rush to the front or back seats (doesn’t matter which) to secure a spot for nice photographs. Private bath is fantastic, rooms are clean and spacious with a touch of ryokan style (tatami etc). That’s a perfect place to sit and relax doesn’t matter it’s sunshine or pooring rain outside. The food was fantastic (according to my wife), however the options are limited if you’re not eating fish or sea products due to allergy or other reasons. For Karaku team - I would suggest adding a signature wagyu set for those who would like something else. Selection of wine and alcohol drinks is superb. Free snacks and coffee are available till 8 p.m. as well with a view terrace. For those who like some regular conbini stuff - Lawson is around 10 mins walk with Miyazaki style trains passing by👌🏻 All in all, we wish we had stayed at least 2 nights as there are lots of activities around.  Thanks to Karaku staff for a warm welcome and tailored experience!

AANASTASIIA_BERDNIKOVAThis hotel is a paradise in the mountains of Hakone! Traditional style of the rooms - it feels like you are living in a Japanese family. We were prepared a traditional dinner, which was served in our room. It was very tasty and varied! The hotel has 3 onsen: 2 - private, 1 - public. We visited only the private ones (you need to book a time in advance at the reception upon check-in, the visit time is 30 minutes). It was wonderful! The hotel also provides a transfer from and to the nearest train stations. The rooms are clean, cozy, we slept on tatami under soft blankets. The hotel has a relax room. With massage chairs and a very quiet atmosphere. We stayed in this room after visiting the onsen and got great relaxation. And you are also given national clothes for rest and sleep. It is very beautiful and cute. Breakfasts were also in kaiseki style - varied and unusual. The hotel staff is very kind and friendly. this hotel allows tattoo baths. great experience, thank you very much! want to come back again!

RRita BUOur Hakone trip's biggest surprise was definitely staying at the Ashinoko Hanaori ryokan. The entire experience was fantastic, far exceeding our expectations. I especially want to highlight the rooms, the food, and the private onsen! The rooms were surprisingly spacious, a clever blend of Japanese and Western styles. Even with family, it never felt cramped. The furnishings were exquisite and tidy, and all amenities were well-provided. Sitting by the window, gazing at the beautiful Ashi Lake scenery, was incredibly relaxing. The food was another huge plus for the ryokan. The buffet breakfast and dinner offered a wide variety, featuring fresh local ingredients. There were both characteristic Japanese dishes and delicate desserts, all with a refined and authentic taste. If you book in advance, you can even dine with a lake view, making it a feast for both the eyes and the palate. But the private onsen was the absolute highlight – amazing value for money and incredibly private. The bathwater was warm and soothing, and soaking in it completely relaxed my body, washing away all travel fatigue. Taking a dip in the private onsen at night, accompanied by the tranquil night sky and a gentle breeze, created an utterly immersive and therapeutic atmosphere. The ryokan's convenient location was the icing on the cake. It's directly opposite the Togendai transport hub, making travel incredibly easy. Whether you're heading to Ashi Lake for the pirate ship, or taking the ropeway and buses to various attractions, you don't need to go out of your way – the boarding points are within walking distance, saving a lot of hassle. What was especially convenient was that our plan for the next day was to travel from Hakone to Mount Fuji. We could take a direct bus from Togendai to Gotemba; the schedule was convenient, the journey smooth, and there was no need for extra transfers, which significantly saved travel time and made our trip more worry-free and efficient. The ryokan's service was also very thoughtful. The overall experience was excellent, suitable for both family trips and romantic getaways. It's definitely our top choice for accommodation in Hakone, and we'll certainly stay here again next time!

JJette Marie☀️ When i first arrived, i thought i was at the wrong place - i‘ve never booked something so nice for myself before! 🪲PROS - chill 4 people bedrooms, with a comfy bed and a big personal shelf + locker and a fridge for the room - clean facilities and rooms - towel, toothpaste/toothpaste and yukata were provided as well as shampoo and showergel - the common room was so cozy and nice, with tea and water always at the ready and a great view of the garden - i was satisfied with both the dinner and breakfast and the price was fairly cheap (~1200¥ or a bit more, depending on your choices) - PRIVATE ONSEN that you can book for around 50minutes at night and can use in the morning if nobody else is already using it (costs around 150¥ per use) - there is a shuttle bus going at pretty regular times in the morning. They offer a ride to both Gora-Station or Hakone-Open-Air-Museum! 🩸CONS - far from the city-centre/train station 🌱 i really enjoyed my stay. I had cool roomies that became travel companions and absolutely loved the inn, the onsen, the food and the kind staff! Definitely a recommendation if you ever decide to stay in Hakone - i would book again!

GGuest UserYama No Chaya has its own beauty and serenity. I personally don’t find it hard to locate - 2 bus stops away from Hakone Yumoto station + a 5 minutes walk are worth the stay. (Bus service stopped for one of the days due to bad weather and we walked for 20 minutes to Hakone Yumoto Station - all good) The team is very hospitable - they also have some English and Chinese speaking staff otherwise simple English is not an issue to communicate. Our butler - Sandip always carry a smile with him, and he ensured we are very well taken care of. Every morning, the team will prepare heat pack and umbrellas for us (it was raining and snowing). In the evening, they made tea and prepared snacks (vary from mochi to sushi) for us upon our returned. The room we booked is Yamano Ichigo (main wing) - just nice for 2. The viewing platform was where we relaxed every evening and we soaked our tiredness away in our very own private onsen at the basement. Despite of having our own private onsen, I still went to visit 3 other public onsen within the Ryokan - you will not be disappointed. Our room came with daily breakfast and we added on dinner for 1 night. I must say the chef and culinary team put in their passion and effort to prepare all the dishes. It’s not common for a visitor like me to taste Kaisekai cuisine which I enjoyed very much. You need to take time and an empty stomach to full experience it :) However, my partner and I weren’t used to heavy breakfast and our butler noticed it - we get to change to western style for the rest of the stay which was equally delicious. We are thankful that we minimised food wastage. Overall, we felt pampered during our stay at Yama no Chaya :) I will return again in the future when I visit Hakone.

GGuest UserThe hotel was right next to Gora station which made it super convenient to get to after a long day exploring Hakone. The staff was very friendly and fleunt in english, they explained in depth on their facilities and gave us a map of the hotel and guidelines on onsen etiquette. Our room was on the 6th floor; a bit far from the reception area but the view from my room made up for it. Room came with Yukatas to wear and many free amenities (such as toothbrush, comb, shampoo etc. As well as a matcha tea set in my room). The dinner was fantastic where you could choose between 2 different meals types which was both served as a 9 course meal. Room was spacious and provides regular beds as well as traditional futon beds. The outdoor bath included in the room was very nice especially in the cold weather when we visited. The bath had abit of algae on it but it wasnt a deal breaker, the bath also included privacy blinds. The private onsen was nice and quiet, but I would say a tad too small as it could fit 2 people in at a time, possibly 3. But overall the experience was fantastic and I would definitely come back again if visiting Hakone.

Sstarriiesinteresting balinese onsen ryokan. service was great, i couldn’t take raw food and my husband is allergic to prawns and they took notice for it and didn’t serve them during our half board meals (breakfast and dinner). the onsen water is certified to be natural and we could read the details of the certification from both the hotel reception and room toilet. the private in room open air onsen’s temperature can be adjusted as well. however the room’s shower’s door was not completely sealed and we found it very chilly to bathe even tho there was hot water supplied as the constant cold air from outside would come in. hope the hotel can take note of this and seal up the showering area’s door completely to prevent air from exchanging during shower. it’s a jap-balinese fusion hotel, pretty interesting concept. we drove during our trip around hakone area and be ready to navigate through very small and narrow roads while driving to this ryokan haha. really very narrow roads. hotel also requested for us to pass them the car key when we returned to the hotel, and to pass them the hotel key when we are heading out, which we found to be a little weird to be honest.

GGuest UserThe refrigerator in the room was very dirty. I felt sick after opening it and closed it immediately, so I don't know if it was dust or mold, but I think it would be a good idea to clean the inside of the refrigerator as well. The teapot that was placed right above the refrigerator also had tea leaves and water left on it, so I thought it might not have been washed, and I couldn't use it. Also, at dinner, a foreign staff member took my tea utensils without asking me. I wanted to drink tea after the hot spring, but I wish they had asked me before taking it down. Also, when I left, I didn't close the door, so I stood up and closed it myself. Other than the above three points, the hot spring facilities and the person who guided me to my room were very kind, so I had no complaints.
