Hotels with Breakfast in Amsterdam

This boutique hotel looks cute for its design, but their business practices are dishonest! I felt uncomfortable with how they treated customers. First, the room I received was not what I had paid for based on the pictures in the app. During my one-night stay, they claimed the hotel was fully booked and offered me a “special arrangement” in a secret annex. I was taken aback and suspected it was staff accommodations since I accessed my room through a different door that had a sign. When I inquired further, the hostess told me I received an “upgrade” to a canal view room because they were full. However, this room was tiny and the heating didn’t work at all. That night was freezing, and when I asked if the AC could help regulate the temperature, I learned it was only functional in summer. They didn’t have any portable heaters available either. I was shocked that the heating system was inadequate, especially in Amsterdam during the snow. The hostess later offered to switch me to another “staff” room, which I switched later, but it was still cold, and I had to sleep in my down jacket. If your hotel is fully booked, don’t allow overbooking on platforms and provide customers with staff accommodations; that’s not acceptable business practice!!! While the hostess was polite and they did give me a bag of snacks upon checkout, the fundamental purpose of staying in a hotel is to have a comfortable experience, which this stay did not provide. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Additionally, the hotel is overpriced, charging a premium for a small room that simply isn’t worth it. Think twice before booking here. They should refund half of the money I paid for my night for such a dishonest practice!

The room was spacious and comfortable, the bed was cozy, and the view was great, ensuring a good night's sleep. The staff were warm and attentive, providing excellent service. The hotel's location is superb, offering convenient transportation, and the breakfast selection was extensive.

Overall experience was great, one of the late morning check-in male staff was really welcoming and even upgraded me to a higher floor with a fantastic view of the river. But since the checkin is 3pm, when I got back, another burlier guy got us our keys but was way too serious and sombre. It's fine but a smile would go a long way. One tiny irk was the lack of bedroom slippers in a carpeted room. I feel it should be basic. And this is the one time I didn't bring a just-in-case pair and i was caught out. Anyway, location is good, tram connection to the Centraal Station just across the street or a 10min walk.

At this hotel, Kennis at the front desk was the only one who was the most warm and polite 👍🏽 He was very kind to my daughter, and for two days in a row, no matter how busy he was, he would immediately stop what he was doing, rush into the staff room, and bring a little gift back for my daughter. There are many hotels here that don’t include free parking, and some are said to include it on travel sites, but after reading the reviews, it turns out there’s actually a parking fee. I’ve already done all my research, and even trip.com clearly says this Holiday Inn includes free parking. At check-in, I was told there would be a charge, but another staff member said it was free. Then at check-out, they suddenly said there would be a charge again, but in the end it was free. It was quite confusing. I also didn’t feel very safe. While I was asleep, it was very noisy outside the room. It sounded like people coming back after drinking, repeatedly pressing our doorbell and trying the handle to open the door. Luckily, I had the door double-locked and had also pushed a chair against it. The hotel explained that they may have pressed the wrong room by mistake and were not trying to get in to steal anything 🤔 Free breakfast at the hotel, but it was absolutely packed! The cutlery was really dirty, and I reckon they couldn’t get it washed in time. Also, they didn’t check any guest details at all, so it felt like people from the street next door could just walk in and eat without anyone noticing. There are food markets and budget supermarkets next to the hotel. A free ferry to and from the city centre is about a 10-minute walk away, with frequent services and a journey time of around 2 minutes.的

This is a pretty standard luxury hotel, with no major issues. There's a mini-fridge, but it's not cold enough and doesn't come stocked with anything. However, the umbrella is a high-end carbon fiber one, which is quite rare and a nice touch. The bathroom drain had a bit of a problem, probably a clog from hair that needs to be cleaned promptly. My biggest issue, though, was the front desk – they were incredibly slow! Especially during check-out. I've never seen a hotel where you have to wait in line one by one; usually, you just leave your room card and go.

The front desk staff were all very friendly, and the room was a pretty standard dorm. The shower had a bit of a drain smell if you showered for a long time, but it was okay. The bathroom, though, had a slight urine odor. The bed curtains were nice, but unfortunately, my perfume was stolen during my stay. You really need to hide your valuables well here.

The hostel is huge. It mainly hosts young people and school groups. Nevertheless, they manage to keep it clean! You can only pay by card for everything there! Towels cost extra. The front desk staff are friendly: they helped me check in and store my suitcase in the luggage room. They have a huge dining area where breakfast is served – it's good, and the coffee is excellent. You can eat your own food there at other times of the day. But! There's no microwave!!! There's a hot water dispenser, which was cold or empty exactly when I needed it most)) Bring shower sandals. In the quadruple room with a bathroom, water would flood the entire floor – that's just how the shower is designed there. The stained-glass windows on every floor are beautiful!!!!

The Hotel Library has an unbeatable location and room size! Spacious big bed, enough walking space in the room and nice bath/toilet size too. Location wise it is on the very main road - walking distance of 8-9 minutes from Centraal Station and opposite to the floating Chinese restaurant. The views of the road from our room were really amazing too. Its heater quickly heats up the room. TV is okay size and has few English channels - who doesn’t like to watch a TV in the hotel room before going to bed! Their room service is good - they make the bed and give fresh towels. There are few things that kind of take away one or two stars: - the elevator, though we are happy that they have one, but the one installed is very slow and you have to keep the buttons pressed and if you take the fingers off it stops midway - we asked for top floor since the views are always nicer from a height and they gave us the 3rd floor (top most) however, the hotel must clarify that after 2nd floor there is no elevator to the 3rd floor and to top it up, the stairs to the 3rd floor are so steep they reminded me of exercise called spiderman mountain climbers! - their room service team however do not clean the area around the kettle. We had sugar dropped and used cups kept and they wouldn’t clean on daily basis saying the cups are to be cleaned by the guests - this was shocking! I expect this to be part of cleaning duty irrespective whether i stay one night or four! - TV channels - out of the few that they have most of them wouldn’t air any content and just names of the channel which is quite irritating when you are given only two-thee channels to flip through. Overall i rate it a 3.5 / 5 for the staff at the reception were really polite - all of them! Happy to recommend this!

We had a great three night stay at the Leonardo city hotel. Great location near the museum area and inner Amsterdam canals, yet really quiet too. Breakfast was great value, good selection of hot and cold breakfast, pastries, fruit and fruit salad etc. The breakfast room was very well decorated and stylish. Rooms were ok, each enjoying a big picture window, ensuite and comfy beds, Staff were very helpful and pleasant. All together a great stay.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, and the location was super convenient – just a 10-minute walk to the train station or tram stop. They even have a piano in the common area for guests to play!
