I was truly impressed when I went to Shanghai Disneyland for the first time in a year. There was a lot of maintenance on the attractions, which initially made me a little hesitant, but the other attractions were incredibly fun, so I was very satisfied this time as well. The final projection mapping show was truly breathtaking, and I highly recommend staying until the very end. I'll definitely be back!

I was wondering how I would actually receive my ticket, since reservations are made using passport numbers and the names printed on the passport. In reality, your passport is scanned at the entrance gate, and you can enter immediately. I was surprised by this! Ticketless entry. You receive a ticket stub when the gate opens. There doesn't seem to be a parade, but projection mapping on the castle took place from 8:30 PM. I traveled by subway, so I used Alipay to leave my suitcase in an automatic coin locker at Disneyland Station. Although it's inside the ticket gates, I was going to take a taxi back, so I told the person at the ticket gate and they gave me a QR code for entry. You enter through entrance 1 and exit through exit 4 using that QR code. For taxis, there is a designated area where you can temporarily stop beyond gate 3 of the subway station, so if you call a taxi with DiDi, it's easier to communicate if you tell them the number of the designated stopping area.

It’s a spacious Disneyland, bigger than the one at Tokyo, & facilities are well maintained than those in Paris. We went on a Tuesday but it was still pretty crowded. Get ready to walk a lot from the parking lot all the way to the park. However I find that the merchandise here do not have a lot of variety, unlike those in Tokyo or even Hong Kong. Food & drinks here are pretty expensive! Toilets are quite clean!

The advantage of booking tickets online is that you can take your time to consider the packages you want. I highly recommend Trip.com for its great prices and accumulated benefits!

Can I register with a foreign phone number?

This is the most common question and the biggest challenge for travelers from abroad.

ChallengeDescription

The code isn't arriving

The SMS delivery system is optimized for Chinese carriers. Despite the availability of international codes (+7 and others), delivery is often unreliable.

The code is arriving with a delay

Sometimes the SMS arrives after 10–15 minutes, when the code is no longer valid

Repeated requests don't help

The issue is on the sending server's side, not with your carrier or phone

What to do if the code doesn't arrive?

MethodDescriptionReliability

Log in via Alipay

If you have an Alipay account with a linked card, use it to log in—you won't need an SMS code

⚠️ Medium (depends on Alipay availability)

Register using a Chinese phone number—the code will arrive without any issues

Important note: you don't need to register to use the interactive map and track wait times in the official app. You can simply open the app as a guest and start using these features right away.
