💳 How Does Scoot Charge a Credit Card "Processing Fee"?
Scoot adds a non-refundable processing fee on select credit/debit card payments to offset merchant costs from banks and processors.
How Much and When Applied?
Card processing fees apply when flying out of Singapore, Australia, Japan, Taiwan(China), Thailand, Indonesia or Vietnam.
The fee varies by destinations and comes up to around 2.2% in our checks for Singapore departures to destinations excluding Malaysia (no card processing fee charged for flights to and from Malaysia).
The processing fee will be displayed after you key in your card number and before you click ‘pay’.

Is This Fee Per Person or Per Booking?
The fee applies per booking, not per passenger. One fee covers your entire Scoot reservation, whether solo or with a large group—pay once for all tickets in that transaction.
✈️ How to Avoid Add-on Fees at Payment: 3 Methods
Ditch the card surcharge on Scoot flights from Singapore—opt for these zero‑fee alternatives to keep more cash in your wallet.
Method 1: Use an Alternative Payment Method
- PayNow: Singapore's favourite—no fee, instant, and secure; scan the QR or link your bank for direct debit. Downside? No point-earning like credit cards.
Method 2: Pay with a Scoot Voucher
- Redeem Scoot vouchers (eg. from trip credits or refunds) to cover your booking in full or part—zero processing fee applies.
- Vouchers are non‑refundable and tied to specific routes/dates, so check expiry before using.
Method 3: Book on Trip.com
- Book on Trip.com with a clean, fuss-free checkout, with no extra add-on fees sneaking in at the final step. Stretch your savings even further by using promo codes for irresistibly low fares during campaigns.
