4-Star Hotels in Kunming

Let me tell you, the hotel I stayed at the night before was absolutely terrible. But then I arrived here, and as soon as I stepped in, the entire lobby smelled wonderful. The front desk staff were all smiling and friendly. I had booked the room the day before and arrived the next morning, but check-in wasn't until 2 PM. The front desk lady kindly offered to store our luggage for us, and she took great care of it. When we came back in the afternoon to check in and went up to the second floor, the hallway environment was also excellent, with a constant pleasant fragrance in the air that was very comforting and not overwhelming. Once we entered the room, we found it to be very secure. I booked a two-bedroom, two-bathroom suite, and there was a connecting door between my room and my friend's. The shower and toilet were separate, and what was most surprising was that they even provided disinfected shower slippers, which felt incredibly thoughtful. My friend and I joked that we should just stay here for a week instead of going out; it was that comfortable! Even when we went out and came back, the staff greeted us with a smile every time. They also offer breakfast until 10 AM. I can only say, *this* is what you call service! What's more, the hotel even provided us with a PDF guide to nearby shopping malls, restaurants, and travel tips! I can only give them full marks for this level of service! And when I was checking out and waiting for my car in the lobby, the staff even brought us tea, and gave us a small gift when we left. It was an exceptionally comfortable hotel experience! I'll definitely stay here again next time!

This is the second time I’ve booked this hotel and also the second time I’m impressed with the hotel service. I’ve touched down Kunming too early and since I’m tired from late night flight, I head straight to the hotel after I’ve landed although I understand check in cannot be so early. The concierge was nice to allow me and my partner to enjoy breakfast (we booked stay with breakfast) while waiting for guests to check out as their hotel was fully booked. Right after our breakfast, the concierge saw us and quickly chased up the cleaning staff to tidy up the room asap so guests can check in earlier. I appreciate their thoughtfulness in this and was lucky to check in in the morning although the stated check-in time is 2pm. I also appreciate the cleaning staff attentiveness to us as we prefer the room to be clean up every 2 days instead of daily. (We book 4 nights there). She keeps checking in with us as she is worried we run out of drinking water, tissue paper, toilet roll and clean towel almost every morning. On our last day, we came back to our room around late afternoon and she thoughtfully hang a laundry bag filled with drinking water bottles and even new pack of tissue on our door. (We leave do not disturb button on while we went out.) The hotel staff at lobby was also very attentive when we get out of Didi outside in the rain, he runs towards us with umbrella to shield us from rain. I also enjoy hotel breakfast very much as I arrived in Kunming with weak stomach and needed non spicy and easy food to ingest. They provided a great range of food that suits foreigners, children and even sick adults like me. Thank you Dianyu Yunling, I know I can trust this hotel’s service level and will return to this hotel again for my next Kunming trip!

I had an early flight the next morning, so I wanted to book a hotel close to the airport. When I saw Manju, a brand under New Century Hotels & Resorts, I didn't hesitate and booked it immediately. I often stay at New Century hotels and always appreciate their excellent service, quality, and cleanliness. Plus, this hotel offers a free airport shuttle service, which is incredibly convenient for travelers and a big bonus. After a smooth check-in, our room was spacious, bright, and spotless. It was fully equipped with smart home features and even earplugs, though we didn't need them at all. Sleeping with the window open was perfectly quiet, and the view of the vast green space outside was beautiful and refreshing. There were also many restaurants, convenience stores, and local specialty shops nearby, which was very convenient. In the morning, the front desk called to remind us about the shuttle bus departure time. We went down to the lobby a few minutes early, and the front desk had thoughtfully prepared individual breakfast bags containing milk, eggs, and bread. There was also free coffee and water in the lobby. I have to say, the hotel really thinks of everything! The shuttle bus departed on time. When we arrived at the airport, we suddenly remembered that we had left the flower pastries we bought the night before in the room. Going back to the hotel would have been too tight a schedule, so with a hopeful heart, I called the front desk and explained the situation. The front desk responded quickly, retrieved the flower pastries from the room in less than 10 minutes, and handed them to the driver who was about to leave, who then brought them to us. We felt such a relief when we got the pastries, as they were a Yunnan souvenir for our friends. A huge thank you to the front desk lady on the morning of the 12th; she was beautiful and kind, efficiently and quickly helping me solve the problem. I regret not knowing her name. And also a big thank you to the driver at 7:30 AM, who safely and quickly delivered our gift. Thank you, New Century, thank you, Manju, and thank you to all the staff. Your patient, meticulous, warm, and thoughtful service always makes my stays happy and reassuring. I extend my most sincere gratitude to both staff members again. ♥️

This hotel is incredibly thoughtful, beyond words! It's simply amazing, truly exceptional service. I initially chose to book the Mengjing Xiyue Hotel because I saw many recommendations on Xiaohongshu, especially praising the hotel's rooftop and balconies, which looked beautiful. I never expected that after actually checking in, I'd find the hotel's service and attention to detail even more surprising! The day before check-in, the hotel staff proactively contacted us to ask about our room setup preferences for the romantic room type. Even before checking in, I could already feel their immense dedication. The hygiene also made me feel very secure! The elevator, rooms, and lobby are disinfected daily, and the towels and amenities in the room are individually packaged. Both the room and bathroom were kept exceptionally clean. For guests who value cleanliness and hygiene, this truly provides great peace of mind. What touched me the most were these thoughtful little details! My feet were aching from days of shopping, even a bit inflamed, so I went to the front desk to ask the staff if they had a foot bath. To my surprise, the staff immediately sent a foot bath to my room, and even included herbal sachets for soaking my feet! My hands were chapped and cracking due to the dry weather, so I also inquired at the front desk. The staff thoughtfully provided hand cream. These are services that are not 'mandatory,' yet they were willing to proactively help. It truly makes you feel: this hotel genuinely cares about its guests' experiences. Breakfast is also served individually, and the portions are incredibly generous! And it's not just the quantity; the taste is also excellent, especially the tomato and egg noodle soup – I've truly loved it these past few days! In the lobby, there's also a popcorn machine + various floral teas that you can mix and match! You can enjoy freshly popped popcorn every day~ You can also choose your own floral tea, put it in a small paper cup, and take it back to your room to sip while watching TV. And every evening, there are delicious 'goodnight' desserts prepared. After a long day of exploring, returning to the hotel and finding these little surprises waiting for you is truly wonderful. I've stayed in many hotels, but this is the first time I've felt: 'I had such a happy stay, I almost didn't want to check out.' It's not because the hotel is luxurious, but because every small detail makes you feel their immense dedication. If I ever come back to Kunming, I will definitely stay here again! I genuinely loved this stay experience~ Thank you, Mengjing Xiyue, for adding another warm memory to this trip. P.S.: I hope the hotel can consider adding one or two more washing machines and dryers. Because sometimes in the evening, when washing clothes, there are quite a few guests using them, and you have to wait for quite a while.

Five-star rating! Overall, my stay was fantastic. The cleanliness was exceptional; every corner of the room was spotless, the bathroom had no strange odors, and the bedding was dry and comfortable. The staff were warm and professional, and the front desk handled check-in efficiently. Any requests were promptly and properly addressed. The room was spacious and quiet, with well-maintained and functional facilities. The breakfast offered a rich variety of fresh options. The environment was peaceful and elegant, and getting around was convenient. Every detail was meticulously taken care of, making for a very reassuring stay. Definitely worth coming back to!

As a branded hotel, it's a decent, no-frills option for leisure or business stays, but it still falls short when compared to Atour. Given that it positions itself as an extended-stay apartment hotel, while the room size is good, the facilities and amenities are quite disappointing. For an extended-stay apartment hotel, the main needs are cooking and laundry. For stays of 1-3 months, the absence of an induction hob, a double-door refrigerator, and a separate washing machine is simply unimaginable. In Shanghai or Beijing, a one-bedroom, one-living room, one-kitchen, one-bathroom serviced apartment only costs around 15,000-20,000 RMB per month. Kunming's market capacity for this type of accommodation is only going to grow.

Some aspects of my stay were excellent but a few things were terrible.  I will mention the good things first.  The room was large, beautiful and gave a beautiful view of the sunset.  The bathroom was superb indeed and the bathroom amenities were superior as was the shower, toilet and everything associated with the bathroom.   The problems were as follow:  There was no dining facilities in the hotel  to eat dinner and I was very hungry after traveling 12 hours by train from Shanghai.  I had to walk very far to get to the area that has restaurants  and  food kiosks.  When I returned to the hotel with some food that needed refrigeration, I discovered the refrigerator  in my room was not working.  I called for service and the worker who came to check said  the refrigerator was broken and could not be replaced.  this was a big problem since I needed to refrigerate the only food I had purchased.  Finally, another staff came to my room and discovered the refrigerator was in fact , not broken.  It was not plugged in properly so that problem was finally resolved after a very long time.  The worst thing  was the bed.  It was so hard, it was painful to lay down on it and impossible to sleep on it.  I called the desk for help and they told me that they did not have a softer mattress to give me.  The mattress was as hard as concrete and I was desperate to sleep.  A staff member came up with a suitable solution.  She brought several duvets and covered the hard mattress with them--placing them one on top of another until I was finally able to lay down on the bed without experiencing pain.  It was very late in the middle of the night before I was finally able to lay down on the bed and go to sleep.   In summary, the room itself was excellent and the bathroom was superior.  Unfortunately, the mattress was entirely unacceptable and impossible to sleep upon.  It was also very disappointing that the worker did not know how to. get the refrigerator to work properly but his superior knew immediately what the problem was.  Much time was wasted until she resolved the problem.  The worker should have been more knowledgeable  and competent. 

I've been to Kunming many times and have stayed at many hotels near Kunming Airport. This was my first time driving here and also my first time choosing Mercure. First off, the service attitude, whether from the front desk or the housekeeping staff, was quite good. The front desk even came over to change my room when they saw my request to be away from the elevator, which was very considerate. They also provided a breakfast box for my early morning airport transfer. The room wasn't big but it was very well-appointed. The air conditioning was very cool, and the minibar was well-stocked. The parking lot looked large, but parking spaces were actually quite tight. The hotel is close to the airport, less than a 10-minute drive. Some airplane noise from takeoffs and landings is normal and manageable. However, I wonder if the noise from the room's own air conditioning could be addressed? Many parts of the showerhead in the bathroom were loose. I'm not sure if the housekeeping supervisor thoroughly checks the rooms. It took a long time for hot water to come through in both the shower and the sink. I hope this can be improved. The walk from the front desk to the elevator was quite convoluted and hard to find for first-time guests. Plus, the hallway was very stuffy and hot.

My experience at Atour Hotel was excellent. The cleanliness was top-notch, and the room was spotless. The check-in process was quick, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. The hotel staff, especially the ladies, were very warm and attentive. Any issues were promptly addressed. The shower facilities were excellent with good water temperature. The soundproofing was great, making for a quiet and comfortable stay. There were no strange odors in the room. The surrounding area is very convenient, with many shops and local eateries. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I highly recommend it to everyone.

Overall, it was genuinely great. I stayed here with my parents and child, and the beds were quite large. The breakfast was plentiful; though I didn't get to try it, my parents did and they were very happy, which made me happy too. The front desk staff was excellent. When my child wasn't feeling well, they told us which hospital to go to, and all our questions and issues were communicated and resolved promptly. The hotel also has a laundry room. It was a pleasant stay, and the location was convenient for getting everywhere. Really good!
