"The navigation was accurate; turn right into a small alley just past the uphill section on the right-hand side of the street. I booked a sea-view room with a window at the Ctrip member rate. Traveling during the off-season, the price was excellent. The front desk staff member was proactive and helped me carry my luggage upstairs. Upon entering, there were three beautiful, somewhat bored but adorable cats in cages. I was lucky enough to meet the owner, who, though we only exchanged a few words, radiated elegance, warmth, and generosity. Both the interior design and the outdoor garden of the hotel offered a striking contrast, vibrant colors, a strong exotic vibe, and lush greenery. The bedding in the room was comfortable, and the bathroom featured a smart Toto toilet. It's essential to book a sea-view room; the mountains are visible as soon as you open the door, and the view is stunning from the window. It should be even more comfortable in winter, with lazy, warm sunshine greeting you early in the morning. It's not far from Dali Old Town, about 900 meters away, a little over a ten-minute walk. However, be prepared for an uphill climb on the way back, which helps with digestion and provides good exercise. The breakfast is a set meal, just the right quantity and well-balanced. The butler's exclusive service was especially heartwarming and thoughtful. Due to my medication, they specifically arranged for me to be served breakfast first. Such attention to detail truly shows their quality. If you get the chance, this place is definitely worth a visit."

"This has been the best B&B experience I've had in Yunnan so far! The room looks exactly like the pictures. The B&B is near Caicun village, and we stayed on the 3rd floor, which offered fantastic views. In front, we had the beautiful S-bend of Erhai Lake, and behind, large wisteria bushes and Cangshan Mountain. There's also an observation deck upstairs for even more unobstructed views. The room is spacious, with high-tech amenities and large floor-to-ceiling windows, so you can enjoy the scenery just by opening the curtains. I was pleasantly surprised that the water heater provided instant hot water. The courtyard is very clean, and the host even helped us with our luggage. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. (If you're driving, I'd recommend parking outside the village, as the roads inside are very narrow, making it difficult to pass oncoming cars and easy to scrape your vehicle.)"

Tired of crowded tourist spots, I specifically sought out this 'wild luxury' guesthouse nestled in the mountains. The environment is quiet and serene, with lush greenery outside the window and expansive, comfortable views. It's within walking distance of Zhonghe Village, which has all the essential amenities, and there's a free parking area if you're driving, making transportation very convenient. The room is spacious, well-equipped with entertainment and smart devices, and spotlessly clean with no overlooked details. The host's service is gentle and attentive, and you can even enjoy yoga to soothe travel fatigue. With all these excellent facilities, the living atmosphere is truly fantastic.

Staying at Xunshan Homestay was the best decision we made in Dali! Tucked away right next to the ancient city, it offers a peaceful retreat amidst the bustle. The courtyard is a serene oasis, filled with succulents and flowers, and the stone paths winding through the fragrant blooms create a healing ambiance with every step. The room design is simply elegant and high-end, featuring smart voice controls throughout. High-end amenities like a Dyson hairdryer, Marshall speaker, Duravit smart toilet, and Swiss premium toiletries make the hardware comparable to a five-star hotel. The bedding is incredibly soft and comfortable, and opening the window reveals stunning views of Cangshan Mountain veiled in mist and a distant glimpse of Erhai Lake. Waking up to the sunshine and birdsong in the morning was pure bliss. The breakfast was the biggest surprise – freshly cooked rice noodles, sea cucumber, freshly squeezed juices, seasonal fruits, and local eggs. The ingredients were fresh, and the flavors were crafted with care; you could genuinely see the effort the two chefs put in. What truly touched me was the service. The housekeeper was warm and attentive, proactively helping with luggage and planning our itinerary. The thoughtful details were never intrusive, making us feel like we were with a warm friend. Slowing down here to experience the romance of Dali completely melted away our fatigue. We genuinely didn't want to leave!

The room was very spacious and well-equipped. The decor and design were fantastic. The renovation of the historic building is quite unique, and the courtyard is breathtaking. The housekeeping service was excellent, and any requests were promptly addressed. The breakfast was also delicious, featuring some unique dishes. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Yunnan.

12 Clouds was every bit the promotional photos had presented — a rare thing. The view of Erhai Lake is really awesome and definitely one of the highlights of this hotel. My family of three had a great time waking up to the panoramic view before heading to breakfast every morning. Which brings us to the food — another highlight for us. The breakfast was so good that we wanted to have dinner there as well on our final night. One minor peeve though. We were entitled to a free dinner set for having stayed three nights but the staff informed us only over WeChat about this. Frustrating as we actually preordered two dishes in the morning of our last night. We ended up having too much food — thankfully, there was another family to share the food. Other highlights: Location - Right by the banks of Erhai on top of an elevation within a gated compound called Dali Condominiums Phase II or 大理公馆 (二期). Despite the private location, you can easily Didi for a ride to anywhere in the city. Room - Spacious with good amenities. Awesome VOD system on there if you understand Chinese. There are Hong Kong drama serials available.

We booked the private manor villa come with private bath pool and private courtyard. However both private pool and courtyard are surprisingly disappointed. The pool was dirty, moldy, there was just left over water inside maybe by the rain, it had a greyish , murky appearance instead of being clean and inviting. When we questioned the butler he then said if you wanted to use we can clean it up.  One of the main reasons we paid extra to book this room was for the private pool, it’s frustrating and disappointing that it was not in a condition we felt comfortable using. Ended up we didn’t use it despite staying for 3 nights.  The courtyard was poorly maintained and look neglected as well. As you can see all cushion was exposed under the rain and when sun comes out it dried it which caused the cushion get mold and stains. Service overall not bad and helpful. The only incident was when during check in, my wife asked one of the receptionist  politely if they could help me make a booking as the place need call to book. We do not have China number , line that can call or app to book. The lady that was serving us was hesitant to book for me and initially told us to book online ourselves until my wife highlighted the reason to her again. Public place is well maintained, location is good. Walkable distance to ancient town. Also nearby to few other must visit spots.  Overall decent but won’t be coming back.

Pros: The hotel is incredibly photogenic, perfect for pictures. The room's overall decor, quality, and the fantastic bathtub experience were all excellent; it's clear they invested heavily in the hardware. The check-in process and the daily basic butler service were originally quite good. Cons: There is absolutely no designated smoking area. In the A building's top-floor cafe, there's no distinction whatsoever between smoking and non-smoking sections. When this occurred, there were young children present, yet several elderly male guests were walking around, smoking, and frequently changing tables, causing secondhand smoke to drift everywhere. The cafe staff were indifferent, simply responding with 'we don't manage outdoor areas.' When I escalated the issue to the butler, they shirked responsibility, claiming the 'area is outsourced.' With the hotel's brand logo prominently displayed on its own premises, what does outsourcing have to do with paying guests? The lack of intervention and their handling of the situation were truly disheartening. I hope the hotel management genuinely addresses public area management, clearly defines smoking areas, and strengthens on-site dissuasion efforts. Don't let outsourced areas and smoking guests tarnish the hotel's reputation!

The room was very clean, and the courtyard was also clean and beautiful. It was very quiet at night, perfect for sleeping. The hotel is located inside the ancient city, very close to the night market, making dining and getting around very convenient. The ladies at the front desk were all very helpful and attentive. I'll definitely choose to stay here again next time I visit!

We chose Coco as our butler for our trip to Dali, and the hotel was a pleasant surprise! Check-in at the front desk was efficient and quick, and the staff were incredibly helpful, even offering thoughtful advice on travel routes and reminding us about the tidal lane in advance, which made our self-drive smooth and safe. The guest room was meticulously cleaned, the bedding was soft and comfortable, and the soundproofing was excellent – I slept soundly until morning. The hotel is close to the ancient city, making it very convenient for shopping and dining. Both the facilities and services are top-notch. I truly recommend it to all travelers.

Choosing this hotel in Dali Shuanglang was absolutely the right decision! The location is superb, right by Erhai Lake. Opening the window reveals a panoramic view of the entire lake and Cangshan Mountain, and watching the sunset in the evening is incredibly therapeutic. The surroundings are also very quiet, and I even witnessed a breathtaking sunset! Absolutely stunning! The lake view is fantastic, perfect for a relaxing getaway. The room facilities are comprehensive, with simple and comfortable decor. The balcony view is amazing, and the bed was very comfortable for a restful sleep. The owner and staff are all incredibly friendly and accommodating, always ready to help with any requests. What I was most satisfied with was the cleanliness; the room was spotless, with no strange odors, and even the corners were thoroughly cleaned. I felt completely at ease staying here. I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit Shuanglang.
