The hotel has a small passage that leads directly to the mall. You need your room card to access it, which makes it feel very secure. There's even a police station inside the passage, which instantly made me feel extra safe. The hotel also has its own small pool, which is great for kids, and comes with a small slide. Having a Lawson convenience store right inside the hotel was incredibly convenient; it was perfect for grabbing snacks and instant noodles for the kids at night. They also offer massages, and the price seemed reasonable at just over a hundred for an hour. We traveled from Pattaya to Bangkok, and Bangkok traffic is notorious, so I'd definitely recommend using public transport.

This is an older hotel, but it has a great location. The hotel offers a boat shuttle to the pier and metro, making it very convenient to get to Iconsiam with just one transfer. This is my second stay here, and the hotel has been gradually upgrading its facilities over the past couple of years, with noticeable improvements to the room conditions. The breakfast is excellent, and you can enjoy it either outdoors by the river or indoors. There are quite a few European guests. The room I was assigned this time had a nice view looking straight ahead, with a direct view of the river and the Ferris wheel. However, if you looked down, there was a European-style cemetery. I personally don't mind it as it's not part of my cultural beliefs, but if you're bothered by it, I suggest mentioning it to the front desk when you check in.

The hotel's location is excellent, right next IconSiam. Check-in was smooth, and the grand lobby impressed us at first. However, problems started right away in the room: there was only hot water—no cold water at all, which was strange and inconvenient. We mentioned it to the front desk on our way out to dinner, and they resolved the water issue while we were gone. Unfortunately, housekeeping left our room door wide open when they finished, which felt like a serious security oversight. When we called to report it, the receptionist downplayed the issue and didn't seem concerned. The hotel itself feels a bit dated overall—the decor, facilities, and amenities don't fully live up to true 5-star standards in our opinion. The next day was even more off-putting. We had a confirmed dinner reservation at the hotel's OXBO restaurant. Upon arrival, a female staff member immediately directed us toward what we later realized was the VIP lounge area instead of the main dining space. When we clarified we wanted to dine in the regular restaurant, she didn't check for our reservation and bluntly said the place was fully booked—despite the restaurant appearing mostly empty. After insisting we had a booking, she claimed the only available seats were in the middle with no view. We observed another couple being turned away in the same abrupt manner right after us. Meanwhile, several young Thai women walked in freely and joined tables with Western men, with no questions asked or checks made. This gave us a strong impression of preferential treatment and made us feel unwelcome as an Asian couple. We left and ate elsewhere. Overall, this was a major turn-off and far below what we'd expect from a luxury property. The service inconsistencies and perceived bias really soured the stay.

Great location, directly connected to the Siam shopping district's M floor, so you can walk there easily. The hotel facilities are comprehensive, though the rooms aren't huge. The front desk staff can speak a bit of Chinese, which was helpful. On the first night, the water heater wasn't set correctly, so the shower water was a bit cold. After speaking with the front desk the next day, they immediately sent someone up. Turns out, we just hadn't adjusted the water temperature correctly. The hotel even sent a letter and a small gift because of this, which was a nice touch. The room was cleaned daily. I'd definitely stay here again.

Excellent, great location as in the heart of China Town, & walking distance to Metro) trains. Street food amazing & cheap👍Also very near all the other main tourist attractions. The Metro/Trains were very easy to use, to get to Terminal 21 & the other very good shopping mall. if your British the Metro is colour coded like the London Underground. The rooftop pool had great views. Only negative was the prices as a glass of Wine was very expensive, and was very warm & served in a champagne flute!!!!

The location is great, just 300 meter walk to china town. The view for Delux type room is a real gems. Breakfast is somewhat good for the price. The service is good. We told them we want to celebrate Valentine's and staff arrange a lovely room for us. If you expect a good room with a great view with perfect location to explore Bangkok night life but expect nothing from the breakfast, this is your hotel.

When we are in Bangkok, we always choose Ayathorn. If you’re planning to explore the old part of Bangkok, this hotel is a great base. Many of the main attractions are within a 20–30 minute walk, and if you prefer, a short tuk-tuk ride gets you there even faster. There are also several very good local restaurants just a few minutes away on foot, which makes evenings easy and enjoyable. The rooftop is a nice plus perfect for cooling off after a long day of sightseeing, with a relaxing atmosphere, or for spending some time in the pool. One thing to be aware of is the major renovation works currently happening in front of the building, which can cause traffic congestion and some noise during the day. However, you can minimize this by booking a river-facing room, which is quieter. Also, if you arrive early, the hotel offers the option to check in before the standard time for an additional fee, which can be very convenient after a long flight.

Despite the hustle and bustle of Bangkok, this place is surprisingly quiet. No exhaust fumes or constant motorbike noise. It has its own pool and a private riverfront. The room type is decent, comparable to economic chain hotels in China, with enough space to open a large suitcase. Soundproofing is good. Being right by the Chao Phraya River is cool and relaxing; you can enjoy a spa in a gazebo and there's an on-site restaurant. The hygiene is good, with daily cleaning and two bottles of water provided each day. The fridge is cold enough, and the air conditioning works well. There are plenty of power outlets, so no need for an adapter; a three-prong plug strip works directly. The Wi-Fi isn't great, but most people buy local SIM cards for data anyway. The bed is on the softer side but comfortable, and the pillows aren't too high, making for a good night's sleep. The wardrobe has five or six non-removable hangers, a safe, and a kettle. The bathroom space is fine, with plenty of hot water available at all times. Disposable amenities aren't provided, only shower gel and shampoo. There are no slippers in the room, but I didn't ask if the front desk had any. The hotel staff are all very helpful. The pool seems to be cleaned daily, and there are always people swimming. There's also a children's play area with swings and a slide. Outside, under the big bridge, there's a small park with even more play equipment for kids. For me, the only downside was not finding a place to dry clothes, so washing them wasn't an option, and the windows are sealed. I'm not sure if you can access the rooftop, haha. Next time I'm in Bangkok, this hotel will definitely be my first choice. Here are some travel tips: Walk a hundred meters out, and you'll find two 7-Elevens, which are very convenient (always check your receipt – if you don't want to translate specific items, just check the quantity and estimate the total. Especially at the 7-Eleven closer to the hotel, the young staff member scanned some snacks and drinks for himself. He probably thought I wouldn't understand the receipt. I realized later that I paid more than I should have. The 7-Eleven across the street is much bigger and better). There's also a slightly larger supermarket inside Sena, Villa Market, though prices aren't cheap. There are many eateries nearby, including Jeju and a local User Choice spot. Not far away is also a very atmospheric BBQ restaurant; just search for it on Google Maps. Besides Thai food, locals seem to eat a lot of noodles. Personally, I found the taste similar to Cantonese cuisine – sweet, with a base of shallots and peanuts, somewhat like satay. The bowls are small but sweet enough to keep you full, haha. I also visited Thong Smith, but honestly, I only saw Chinese tourists there... Any random noodle shop outside tastes pretty much the same, you just pay double for the ambiance. It's not far from ICONSIAM, within walking distance. Across from ICONSIAM is a Lotus supermarket, which is better to browse than Big C, with a wider selection of items and fewer crowds. I didn't see any durian sellers on the streets of Bangkok. That durian shop near the Peninsula Hotel is a rip-off; don't even bother looking. I recommend trying sour plum tamarind, preferably the kind without added seasonings; it's addictively good. Yunnan in China also has it, but I've only had it in the form of sour plum cakes there. Regarding transportation, it's a bit of a distance to the BTS, but it's walkable. There are also bus stops, but I'd advise against taking a bus during peak hours. Under the bridge, there's also a public pier where you can take a boat to Santhon on the opposite bank for only 5 baht to transfer to another boat, if you don't want to walk across the bridge. Grab taxis are convenient. During peak hours, going to the airport takes at least 1.5 hours, and the estimated times on the app are generally accurate. I haven't tried the hotel's shuttle service yet. For Siam Ocean World, you can buy tickets on Trip.com at the entrance and scan to enter. Safari World is too far; only the shows are worth seeing. You can ride an elephant for 300 baht and even buy paintings drawn by elephants, which is quite a good deal. Otherwise, if you've been to Chimelong, there's no need to go. I booked a package on Trip.com that included a car, tickets, and a buffet. Although the buffet was just group meal quality, there's really nothing else to eat inside. Since I had a child, I didn't visit any temples. I went to the Bangkok National Museum, and honestly, there's not much to see except exquisite religious sculptures and royal artifacts. If you have time, you can visit. You can take a public passenger boat to explore the Chao Phraya River; it's very convenient and cheap. In Bangkok, wearing long pants won't be too hot, and inside most malls and any air-conditioned places, it's very cold. Bangkok is a great international metropolis. I'd love to come back again during off-peak season when flights and hotels are cheaper. Bye for now!

Overall, it's pretty good. This place isn't too far from ICONSIAM. I tried walking to the pier and then taking a boat across to ICONSIAM; of course, you could also choose other transportation options. The room itself is decent, though I wish the lighting was a bit brighter. Be careful not to turn on the faucet in the sink too much, or water will splash onto your clothes – that could definitely be improved. The swimming pool is on the 7th floor and is open until 11 PM, so you don't have to worry about missing out on a swim if you get back late from exploring. The front desk was very helpful with check-in; even if you don't speak English or Thai, it's fine because they'll translate and show you directly in Chinese, so no worries there. Breakfast is on the 6th floor and is also quite good.

CCK97My wife and I recently celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary with a 3-night stay at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel and it was an unforgettable experience. Although not so modern, our room was luxurious and well maintained, providing all the comforts and amenities we needed. We especially looked forward to breakfast each morning, eager to enjoy the chef’s special of the day, which never disappointed and added a delightful start to our day. During our stay, we appreciated the convenient location near all the shopping malls and attractions. Overall, our experience at the Grand Hyatt Erawan was wonderful except for an evening where the shower area and all the taps only has hot water regardless turning on the cold or hot water tap. The technician team was quick in resolving the issue about 15-20 mins later. It made our 21st wedding anniversary extra special, and we will still come back for more anniversary celebrations. Highly recommended for couples or anyone seeking a luxurious getaway.

GGuest UserThe hotel has a very beautiful lobby and setting. The doormen are active and have positive attitude. It is just opposite the Patpong Night Market and is very convenient for everything. However, from my experience, sorry to say it is not a 5 stars hotel. The entrance of the hotel to check in area has 2 levels of mezzanine with steps. However there have no ramp for trolley luggage. Beware of that. I stayed at 7th floor and facing the road. Room is very basic and decent. But the sound proof is bad, very noisy during the night. Always woke up by noises from different rooms, moving tables or something. Can hear the next room switching on and off the light switches during the sleep. There have no indication on the switch to let users know which is the area for it. So we just have to press different switches on and off to see. Corridors are in very low light and old. Gym is clean and decent sizes. Machines are well maintained and not many types of weight lifting. Only 1 unisex toilet in the gym. Swimming pool is very small as for 5 stars hotel....always packed with people trying to get sun bath. No sauna nor steam facilities. Dont even know if there have shower or changing room around as no indication. There don't even have indication in the lift to show which floor for the pool and gym. Breakfast is very basic and the highlight will be the chichen wing noodle but is not served daily. Big table and dining area. You have to ask for pot of tea if you want tea for breakfast.

CCurt 常鹰We saved this hotel until last – slightly fancier than the other 3 in our time in Thailand – as a little final night trip, and unfortunately, it was the most disappointing of the lot. The price, by global standards, might not be eye-watering. But by Thailand prices, it was certainly higher end, at over 800rmb per night with a ~450 (2000bht) deposit upon arrival. It did not meet those standards, I'm afraid to say. First things first, it should be said that it is fairly easy to get to on the MTR system, just a very short walk from Hwai Khwang, though it should be pointed out that when using Trip to find the location of Google Maps, I was given the wrong spot (further down the road, so actually a nice surprise to see it was closer, and I wont hold this against the hotel as it is likely nothing to do with them.) Serve at check-in was good, bags carried up the stairs for us and taken to the room with the porter stood waiting as we arrived. Check-in staff were as friendly as one would expect at a Marriott-run hotel of this quality, & though I was slightly surprised by the price of the deposit it was ultimately fine. We had booked a deluxe room with a double bed, and were told that since there was none available (?), we'd be upgraded to a Premier. Looking at the app since, I'm struggling to see where they differ. The decor in the Premier is perhaps a bit more modern, but they are the same size with the same bathroom (more on that later), and the lower price-point is on a much higher floor (ergo better view, I'd assume). In truth, had I paid for a Premier & been greeted with our room, I'd have been even more disappointed. The room was fine, but I'm not sure much more than that. A decent size, though by no means surprisingly big. It was at least quite airy, and the bed pretty comfortable, though seriously lacking in plug sockets. I find it rare to see a hotel these days without plug sockets on both sides of the bed, especially a hotel at this price point. It meant that only one phone could be charged nearby, the other on the table on the other side of the room. The bathroom, though, was really, really disappointing (& that's putting it lightly). The bathtub might have been a nice touch, had it not quite clearly had dried on blood stains in it. I've never experienced this in any hotel I've ever stayed at, no matter how cheap. Let alone at one double the price of anywhere else we stayed in Bangkok and Thailand! The sink, too, was clearly scratched up dirty, with two clear globs of dried on mucus. No face washing in there for us. Fortunate perhaps, given the number of towels provided too was pretty light. The bin in the bathroom also came with no bin bag. I'd hope that the inside is therefore cleaned regularly, but given what we'd seen before, I wasn't filled with hope. Elswhere, breakfast was generally of expected quality. Nothing to write home about per se, but a very nice dining area and good service in fairness. The coffee was decent, though again by no means hugely memorable. The swimming pool is a highlight, offering great views across the city (indeed, the view from our room was quite nice too – though can't help thinking it would be better from a higher floor, like in the cheaper rooms!), with ample comfy beds and free towels. It might be a bit small in peak season, but there were only 3 other groups sharing with us, so plenty of space for a swim. We also enjoyed the massage (850bht). The price was not included in the room fee, but I thought 850 seemed a decent price for the quality and the convenience. Each of these things could be the most memorable part of the trip, were we not greeted by the dirtiest bathroom I've ever experienced in a hotel. & that's a real pity, because it was so avoidable too! Especially from a Marriott hotel, I'd really expect better.

GGuest UserPros: The hygiene is excellent. The common areas are right by the Chao Phraya River, and it's fantastic to enjoy a drink while watching the river at night. The staff are very enthusiastic. The bed space is ample, with two power outlets and a small locker with a combination lock. There's also a large storage cabinet in the room that opens with your room card. Cons: The only way to get into the hostel is through a fish market, which has a very strong, fishy smell, though it's bearable. Being close to the river means there are quite a few insects, which is understandable. The toilets don't have air conditioning, so it gets extremely hot when using them. The air conditioning in the rooms is turned off daily from 11 AM to 3 PM, which isn't very friendly for guests who want to rest in bed. Everyone's shoes are piled up on the second floor, and some of them are incredibly smelly, like biohazards. I hope the hotel can improve management and ensure everyone puts their shoes in a shoe cabinet!

GGarreth HuntBangkok was the last stop on our trip to Thailand and we booked this hotel as a treat to end our trip given it's 5 star status. We were left very disappointed... The lobby is lovely and is indicative of a high end hotel but that's where it ended unfortunately. The rooms are 3 star at best. We had booked a room with a balcony specifically but the initial room we were given didn't have one. The staff were very helpful and moved us to another room with a balcony, however the balcony was surrounded by fans so we had limited views. We were offered another room on our second day with a better balcony but the room itself was smaller so we opted to stay where we were. From what we could see, none of the balconies are great so I would avoid paying the extra for rooms with them. The pool is cold and in need of some work, the grout is coming away in many areas creating sharp edges in spots. Also not 5 star quality. Breakfast was the nicest setup and offering we had seen in Thailand.

EExpat EDventuresWe had a very pleasant stay at Somerset Sukhumvit 71 Bangkok. Check-in was easy and smooth with welcome infused water, and the on-site café was excellent, with delicious breakfast pastries. The beds were firm and clean, the room was comfortable, and housekeeping did a great job cleaning and making our beds daily. We also appreciated that both of our rooms were booked next to each other, which made travelling as a family much easier. Our fourteen-year-old’s bed was already made up upon arrival, which was a thoughtful touch. John, the concierge, was outstanding. He managed to book a same-day bike tour for our family of six and also kindly arranged our airport transfer. His service truly stood out and made our stay even better. Our only disappointment was New Year’s Eve. We had planned to ring in the new year at the rooftop venue, but it was fully booked. I had messaged the hotel in advance through the Trip app but didn’t receive a response. Instead, we followed a restaurant recommendation from the front desk, only to arrive 56 minutes before closing and be told the kitchen was already closed. Two other nearby restaurants were also closed, so we ended up grabbing snacks from the 7-Eleven across the street. The hotel kindly unlocked our balcony so we could at least watch the fireworks from our room. The rooftop restaurant is beautiful, and the pool area is also very nice, although the water was quite cold, so we didn’t swim. The location is a bit far out, but overall, we enjoyed our stay so much that we extended it and booked a third night. A great hotel with excellent service, especially from the concierge, and we would happily stay again.

ZZaichuangxintianyaThe location is pretty good, with EM Mall right next door, making dining, shopping, and entertainment incredibly convenient. However, it's a bit of a trek to Nana Plaza or Soi Cowboy. While Bangkok has bike-sharing services like Hello Ride, they're not very practical due to the lack of dedicated bike lanes and the requirement to return bikes to fixed locations. The breakfast spread is excellent, and the staff are all very professional and enthusiastic. Although the price was a bit higher during Chinese New Year, it's still a highly recommended hotel offering great value for money in Bangkok's Sukhumvit area.

TTraveling ZetaReally enjoyed our stay here. It is off the beaten path down a few alleys, but there is a shuttle bus that can take you back-and-forth every 30 minutes or you can just call a Grab. Has a beautiful pool and a weamend only hot spring you can book with a cold plunge pool if you’re interested. I didn’t try the breakfast. Delivery is too easy and the variety is better. The hotel room came with a microwave and a refrigerator, which is extremely helpful if you’re ordering and takeout and have leftovers. Everyone was nice and friendly. I would definitely stay again.
