Hotels near Central District, Taichung

Pros: rooms are renovated and clean, breakfast varied daily and taste good, AC was cold, and hotel quite near the taichung TRA, and steps away from gancheng station where a lot of buses pass by cons: soundproofing could be better, no bidet in toilet All in all, still a good hotel choice in taichung considering the cheap price

I've stayed here twice, and I'd give it a 7 out of 10. It's really affordable on weekdays, which is when I usually stay. The room is very clean and comfortable, and the bathroom has a great wet/dry separation. The room is spacious, though a bit dim. Overall, it offers excellent value for money.

Hotel location was superb! By the main road, everything was accessible. Yet inside the rooms, you barely hear road noise and sleep was proper. Hotel was a little bit old yes, but the rooms were spacious (also cos I got a complimentary upgrade yay). Front desk staffs can appear aloof but they are actually friendly and provide 24 hours assistance. Water dispenser on level 5 and 8 of each floor for convenience. TV had ample international channels, and toilet had wet/dry separation with proper hot water that came when you needed it and water pressure was good. Towels and linens were clean enough, really value for money. Stayed 2 nights and did not regret.

The room was tiny. I almost tripped over the bed frame on my way to the bathroom, nearly killing myself, haha. But the facilities are very new, and there's a water dispenser on the floor, which is a plus! The front desk lady was super friendly, and you can even extend your check-out by an hour if you post on social media.

Overall, it was great, with only one minor drawback... I tend to get headaches easily from strong drafts, and when I stayed in room 701, the air conditioner vent was blowing directly onto the head of the bed. I tried adjusting it for a while but couldn't find a setting that solved the direct blast issue, so I ended up just turning off the AC. It was January, so the weather was okay, but if it were summer, I probably wouldn't be able to turn off the AC and still sleep comfortably, haha (I'd be sweating buckets 💦).

self check-in was a little confusing and most of the time, no one was manning the front desk. but the hotel was super clean and well maintained. would stay there again if visiting taichung! they were also very helpful in returning a sweater i left behind after checking out (they sent it to taipei for me) :D

This is my second time staying here, and it's just as great as I remember! The location is excellent, the rooms are spotless, and the overall environment is fantastic. Plus, they offer complimentary breakfast. The drink bar is a huge bonus, staying open until late evening. It's so nice to come back after exploring the night market and relax in the dining area with a few cups of coffee before heading upstairs. All in all, I think it's fantastic! 👍

Stayed here from 10 Apr to 14 Apr. It is about 10-15mins walk Taichung Railway station. The hotel is within the central district of Taichung (buildings are older here), but the hotel itself looks and feel relatively new and modern. It is conveniently located near lots of food options, and the Taichung Second Market and Miyahara is only about 5-10mins walk away. The room is clean and spacious. It has a nice modern design too. The basic amenities such as shampoo, shower gel, lotion and hairdryer are provided. Can’t seem to find local channels on the TV but you can use apps like netflix and youtube. The hotel also provides complimentary breakfast, tea time (if i recall correctly) and supper. The variety is acceptable given that this is not a big hotel. food is decent too. For breakfast there was a mini salad bar, porridge station, various steamed buns, toasts. For supper, there were braised minced meat rice and side dishes, soup, DIY noodle station, steamed buns, toasts, DIY beancurd station, some snacks/tidbits. There is also dessert with red/green bean soup, drinks and ice cream. Just one minor hiccup - a false fire alarm was trigger at 4am on one of the nights which only affected the higher floors from 9th storey and above. The guests on our storey werent aware if the lift is working or if it is safe to use and we ended up climbing the stairs down, only to find out later that there was no real fire. The affected guests waited at the lounge for about 30mins as the alarm was still ringing. The firemen eventually came and turned off the alarm. The hotel did apologise for the inconvenience by pasting a notice in the lift and informed guests to reach out to them if there are any queries. It would be nice if the hotel can engage the affected guests more directly and possible provide some form of compensation as service recovery. Nonetheless, still a pleasant stay overall!

My wife was very happy with the stay. I think that pretty much says it all. I personally loved the coconut milk and laurel scent of the shower gel. The hotel provides self-made walking maps (I finally got to explore Yanagawa!), and the staff are quite knowledgeable about local history and culture. Although it's in the city center, it was surprisingly easy to find street parking. Just avoid the progressive rate parking on Zhongshan Road.

I had a pleasant stay at Norway Forest Hotel in Taichung. The location is excellent, just a short walk from Taichung Train Station, which makes traveling around the city very convenient. There are also many restaurants and convenience stores nearby. The room was clean, modern, and comfortable. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was clean with good water pressure. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout the stay. The hotel also has a playground for children, which is great for families, as well as laundry and drying facilities, very convenient for longer stays. Overall, this hotel offers great value for money and I would recommend it to travelers visiting Taichung.
