"Overall a good location as there are 2 tram stops just a quick 3 to 5 mins walk away from the apartment. There is a minimart and 7-11 just downstairs, convenient for picking up necessities. The apartment was quite big and had very useful amenities like a washer, dryer and fully equipped kitchen, including a dishwasher and big fridge. Unfortunately, the air-conditioner wasn't the best for me as it was a standing type located near the window in the living room. Despite adjusting to the lowest temperature and highest fan speed, the bedroom was still quite warm. Body wash, shampoo, hair conditioner and towels were provided but not toothbrush, comb or bottled water. There was a kettle provided but I would prefer having bottled water provided daily. I was also surprised that housekeeping was not provided for my 5-nights stay. Fresh towels can be requested by hanging a sign on the door before 8 am. Generally a good stay but do note that the reception counter is not open 24 hours, so if you arrive outside these timings, separate arrangements should probably be pre-arranged."

"The room comfortably accommodates 6 people with three double beds, and the bedding is very clean. Each floor has a desk with charging points. The WiFi speed is decent. Breakfast includes sandwiches, toast, milk, coffee, cereal, and unlimited drinks. There's also a gas stove, which is great if you like to cook your own meals, like boiling an egg. The living room on the first floor is spacious enough for dozens of people to have meetings or chats. A major plus is its 8-minute walk to Southern Cross Station, located right in the city center on King Street. **Environment:** Quiet, safe, and convenient. **Cleanliness:** The bathroom is very clean, gets daily cleaning, and has no unpleasant odors."

"The location is genuinely great, right in Chinatown. Downstairs, you can find anything you want to eat. It's a perfect spot for Chinese tourists because you can get Chinese food anytime. If you need a convenience store, there's one right next door. You can also head to Chinatown for noodles in the morning. Across the street, there's a theater currently showing a Michael Jackson musical. You can check in online in advance; they'll send you an email. I checked in at the front desk, and the Indian guy was very friendly. They gave me a high-floor room. The room size isn't big, but it's just right for one or two people. The bed and pillows are comfortable, and it's very clean. However, there's no complimentary bottled water or slippers, which really surprised me. The bathroom also lacks a bath mat, so be careful when showering. Otherwise, everything else is pretty good. The gym isn't large, but the equipment is sufficient, with plenty of machines for compound training. I didn't opt for breakfast because there are so many food options downstairs, all within walking distance. The lobby bar on the ground floor is lively in the evenings. Overall, the price-performance ratio is excellent, but many things are minimalist, like the lack of slippers and water. The location is good, and the comfort level is adequate. So, if you prioritize price and location, this place is a solid choice."

"The night receptionists were great, with excellent service. The location is in Zone 2, and you can catch a ride right outside the corner, though for a group, taking an Uber to the city center might be more cost-effective. The hotel's design meant that none of the bathroom doors had locks. In our first room, the bathroom door was semi-transparent with a large gap on the side, making it uncomfortable and awkward since there were four of us sharing the room. After speaking with the staff, we were moved to another room with a solid wooden bathroom door, which was much better. However, the new room's lighting was very dim, and some power outlets were loose; even their own lamp would fall out. The small cooking light in the kitchen was also broken. The towel rack in the bathroom was attached to the ceiling, but the ceiling around it was cracked and looked like it was about to fall, which felt quite dangerous. One day, I requested room cleaning and left a note asking them not to make the bed, but the staff didn't even empty the bathroom trash; instead, they left a trash bag for me to change myself.... There were only two tissues left, and they weren't refilled. When I went down to the reception, the staff said they could only make a note to refill them tomorrow, as they didn't have any immediately available. There was no phone in the room, so I had to go to the front desk myself to find staff. Each shift only had one receptionist, so usually, I'd have to wait 10-15 minutes while they dealt with other guests, which was ridiculous. It's not that the staff are bad, but they are severely understaffed! Also, because there was a kitchen but no cooking utensils, when I asked the front desk, the receptionist had to personally bring a set up... they're clearly too busy!"

"This was a trip with my wife in Melbourne for a few days before we head off to Tassie. We stayed at the loft room (note the loft bedrooms are located on lower floors, ours was on 2nd floor). On the arrival day, while we were off loading our luggages from our car (there were a few bags as we had just gone to a vineyard and had purchased 4 bottles), the 2 guards at the back door entrance, whom have clearly saw us, but didn’t assist with the luggage, nor inform the front desk to assist us. We ended up carrying the multiple luggages (along with the 4 wine bottles) while the guards watched.  On the second day, the guards were friendly - they assisted with doors and greeted us. On cleanliness, after first night, our toothpaste was empty but cleaning staff did not replace with a new set, but overall room was clean to basic standard.  However, our room had a bit of odd well on second night (first night was fine) not sure what the issue was but it did smell like kitchen cooking smell (we didn’t cook there). Breakfast was of good value and the staff working there were friendly and very responsive, I would probably say that the best experience was our breakfast thought out our stay there."

"Location: The hotel's location is excellent, right near the city center train station, and the free city tram passes right by the front door, making it very convenient to get to the main attractions. Facilities: The hotel rooms are small, and the facilities are very basic, with only some essential amenities, showing their age a bit. Hygiene: The cleanliness was well-maintained."

"The hygiene conditions were excellent, and all areas were very tidy. The balcony outside the kitchen on the fifth floor offers a nice view, making meals there very enjoyable. The sofa area on the fourth floor is great for studying—it's quiet and the temperature is just right. The lobby seating faces a panoramic window with street views, and the music is quite pleasant, though I wouldn't recommend sitting there late at night recently as it's been cold. Also, a quick tip: remember to check the back of the promotional flyer. I arrived on a Saturday and Sunday, and I completely missed the note about free meals being offered on weekends. A real shame I missed out! Additionally, the front desk lady's service was incredibly kind—thumbs up! After checking out, I realized I'd lost a phone. I figured it must have fallen between the bed and the wall. The hotel staff found it and returned it to me, which I truly appreciate!"

"We live near the hotel ourselves, but our home was under renovation, so we booked a night here. The hotel is actually a mixed-use commercial/residential apartment building, located in the Box Hill Chinese area on Whitehorse Road. It's just a few minutes' walk from the train station, tram stop, and nearby shopping center parking. Our go-to cafe, Zero Mode, is right downstairs. Similar to many business hotels in China, The Chen's rooms come with a mini-bar, kettle, teacups, tea bags, and instant coffee. What sets it apart are the additions of a sink, a toaster (common in most Australian hotels), a mini-fridge (larger than what you'd typically find in Chinese hotels), and an ironing board. Drawbacks: 1. The bathroom is quite small. The glass shower door has a hole where the handle is, and there's no rubber seal between the two glass panels. You have to be very careful not to point the shower head towards the door when showering, otherwise, water will spill out. 2. The bedside table between the two beds is tiny and doesn't fit much. Other notes: 1. The mattress is softer compared to hotels in China. 2. Like most international hotels, you have to pay to use the washing machine. Overall, this hotel is decent and suitable for a short stay."

"I recently stayed at Citadines on Bourke Melbourne for 8 nights and overall had a good experience, which I would rate around 4 out of 5 stars. The location is excellent and the hotel offers good value for a stay in Melbourne’s CBD. The room was comfortable and well-equipped, and I appreciated that housekeeping was provided every two days rather than daily, which I was perfectly happy with. However, there were a few areas where the experience could be improved. Housekeeping was somewhat inconsistent during my stay. On several occasions, floor towels were not replaced, some areas of the room appeared to be missed during cleaning, pillow covers were not changed when expected, and not all toiletries were refilled. It was frustrating to discover there was no soap or shampoo while already in the shower, requiring a call to reception and a wait for replenishment. The shower itself could also be improved, as the hot water temperature fluctuated quite noticeably between hot and cold, making it difficult to maintain a comfortable shower. There were also a couple of minor inconveniences upon arrival. The parking, while available, costs approximately AUD $45 per day and the process of locating and accessing it was somewhat confusing on the first day. Additionally, there was no HDMI cable in the room, which meant I had to request one from reception. Housekeeping also occasionally forgot to clear the trash, which added to the inconsistency of the service. The kitchenette could also be better equipped. I found the dustbin to be quite small for an extended stay, the knives were not very sharp, and there was no chopping board provided, which made preparing meals less convenient. On a positive note, after our 8-night stay, the hotel was able to provide us with a complimentary one-hour late checkout, which was appreciated and helped end the stay on a better note. Despite these issues, the staff were generally helpful when assistance was needed, and the overall stay was pleasant. With a little more attention to housekeeping consistency, maintenance, and guest amenities, this hotel could easily provide an even better experience. Overall, I would still consider staying here again due to the great location and comfortable accommodation."

"Whenever I'm in Australia and unsure where to stay, Meriton is my no-brainer choice. This one is located in the CBD, just a short walk from Southern Cross Station. Getting to the city center for food and shopping is easy, either on foot or by tram. It's also close to various meeting points for day tours. The room was clean, hygienic, and well-equipped. If I needed anything, I could just scan a QR code and request it online. The peppermint tea in the room was so good I asked for two more sachets, and they ended up giving me the whole remaining box, haha, made my day! You do have to take your own trash to the garbage room, and there's a floor plan on the back of the door showing you where it is."
